Combo Box Use Global Data issue

I am using a drop down combo box to select a name, and have checked specifiy item values, am using the item numbers in a switch statement to populate other text boxes depending on selection of drop down. These same items appear several times in the form, so am setting them to use global data. All work great except for the textboxes bound using global data to the drop down. In those results, it's putting the item number, not the text value. How do I get the text value to show instead of the item value? Thank you!

Resolved it by changing the switch statement to use the text value instead of item number, and unchecked the specify item values in the combo box. I would be interested for future use to learn how to do this, but no worries if not. At least the form is operating the way it needs to. Thanks.

Dependent combo boxes using webservice

I'm trying to create a depended combo boxes using af:selectOneChoice, using webservice datacontrol. When i try to change the value of the first combo box which has hard coded values (eg. Continent), The depended combo box (eg.Country) is empty. (which is returned via webservice) When i again change the value of the first combo box, I get the corresponding values(Countries) generated. The very first time when a value is selected is not binded to the model. Why is this happening and how to overcome this issue. I tried using the value change listener and assigned the current value to binding but there was no change in the behaviour.

        operBinding.execute();I'm getting an warning as <FacesCtrlListBinding> <getInputValue> ADFv: Could not find selected item matching value Afghanistan of type: java.lang.String in the list-of-values.Why the value binded to the managed bean or model is not getting updated for the first time. Is this the expected behavior.

Combo Box with duplicate data

Hello All,
I am creating a form with a combo box but the data from the table is duplicating. Can anyone provide guidance on how to make the combo box only display only two choices of the data? For example, when the box is selected the drop down list
will have multiple/group of 'Yes' and 'No'. It appears that everytime a record is added to the table, it gets duplicated. I think I'm overlooking something from working long on this and it maybe something simple/obvious. Any
help would be appreciated, thanks.

As Bruce said you can use the DISTINCT predicate to suppress duplicate rows, but if you are getting duplicates in a combo box's list it suggests that you are querying the wrong table as the Control's RowSource property. If we take a simple example
of a combo box to list states, then the following would return duplicates of the table contains rows for two or more cities in the same state:
SELECT State
FROM Cities
ORDER BY State;
You could suppress the duplicates with:
SELECT DISTINCT State
FROM Cities
ORDER BY State;
but the correct solution would be:
SELECT State
FROM States
ORDER BY State;
i.e. in the Cities table State is a foreign key column referencing the primary key of States. You might ask why have a States table at all as the values are already in Cities? The answer is that by having a States table you can enforce referential
integrity in the relationship between Cities and States, preventing the insertion of invalid State values into Cities. Without protecting the integrity of the database in this way errors in data entry will sooner or later occur (Murphy's Law is infallible
in this respect!). I have personal experience which is testament to this, having once found three versions of my own name as author in a table of references to technical articles in my own field of work. As far as the database is concerned this
makes me three separate people! The table should have referenced the key of an Authors table of course.

Problem rendering a combo box in the data grid

Hi,
I am rendering a combo box in the data grid control using an
item renderer. When I click on it to select a value from the drop
down, the combo box immediately closes giving no time to even click
on the dropdown. This doesn’t happen every time the combo is
clicked, although it happens frequently. What I think is that the
problem arises because the data grid tries to refresh the renderers
and during this process, the existing combo is removed, thereby
getting closed automatically. Please let me know of a work around.

create a data block of emp table through wizard
create its table view and show 10 records
go to datablock i consider its name "emp" datablock properties
in Where clause condition specify deptno = : my_combo_box;
now go to combo box when item changed event

Ring or combo box control of date

Hi, I am developing a GUI with ring or combo box indicating possible date, i.e., month, day, and year. Or is there a way to create multiple items ran sequentially in a ring or combo box control.

You will have to format the date into a string to create a ring that contains all the data for the month, date and year. One method for separating the date from a timestamp is to use the Get Date/Time String. You could then take the date string and use it in the ring or combo box. Attached is an example of how to use that function.
What do you mean by running multiple items simultaneously in a ring or combo box?

Locating on a location on GMap using combo box using SDK

Hi All,
I have a requirement to locate a city on google map using combo box. I want name of cities to appear in combo box and on selecting a city, map should be able to locate that city. This combo box will be visible on map itself. Combo box can be a component of either Xcelsius or Flex Builder.
I think combo box dragged from Xcelsius component panel not able to communicate with google map which is embedded in form of swf through manage and packager.
So, I tried with Flex Builder combo box component, but not able to done it. I am not getting the flow how to communicate between combo box and google map.
I can locate a particular city giving a latitude and longitude through propertysheet.
Please, if anyone could help me out asap.

The said functionality should work. Please check your logic one more time. Also, try using some spreadsheet components mapped to the cells in question and understand how the data is flowing during run-time. This will help you test things. Delete spreadsheets when you are done with identifying the issue.
Lets check the combo box mapping one more time : Map the source of the combo to the entire range; labels in the combo box ONLY to the country column in the source range(typically this may be the left most column in the range); selected item should be mapped to the cell that has the destination for the icon and the type for default selection may be dynamic. Well, if there is any hard-coding of values involved anywhere, do check the spellings and other trivial things.

Populating a combo box using values in a table

I am trying to populate a drop down box with values from a table. I have got so far.
The combo box is populated however the values in the box are blank.
Can some suggest the necessary modifications?

The ocifetch() function needs ociresult() to get the data. See

You might want to use oci_fetch_assoc() instead.

NB Oci_fetch_assoc() is a PHP 5 function. If you don't have it, then
you are using PHP 4 which has a much older version of the OCI8

No connections in the combo box of Infobus Data Form Wizard?

I am trying to create a new project but when I try and select a
connection, the "Connection" drop-down combo-box is empty. I have
created 9 connections, but cannot select them. I have tried
adding a new one and editing but still they do not appear.
Am I doing something stupidly wrong here?
Any help would be appreciated,

I have a similar problem using JDBC-ODBC bridge with MS access

When i change the value of a combo box using a property node it displays the value not the item label

I am using a combo box as a select list for text serial commands. I have items like "engineering", "GUI", and "Scan" for the commands "MDE", "MDN", and MDS respectively which i have input as the corresponding value in the combo box. so for example the label "engineering" has the value "MDE" in the combo box items list. when the Vi starts it needs to read the current value MDE, MDN, or MDS and then i want it to display on the front panel the item text corresponding to that command value.
To do this i have tried to read the serial command, ie MDS and then wire that to a "value" property of a property node of the combo-box, but instead of displaying the corresponding item label, "Scan", it displays the value "MDS" on the front panel instead. i want the front panel to use the label text when choosing and displaying but the block diagram to use the serial commands. Can this be done with a combo box? I'm trying to use a combo box so i can keep it all text and avoid having to build a case statement to convert enums or rings from a numerical value to the text command.
The correct text value is wired to the value property and it does exist in the combo-box. I have unchecked "values match items" and selected to not allow undefined values.

Don't use the value property node. Use the Text.Text property node. When creating the property node, select Text, then in the next pop-up box, select Text.

Set a combo box using script

Hi, I am building an AIR application that reads in XML to set
up a form for editing and saving back the XML. I am using the
standard flash components including the combo box. I am trying to
set the combo box value to a value in the XML, say for instance
alignment which only has the possible selection settings of "left",
"center" or "right". I have looked through the documentation but I
can't seem to find the right code that will set an existing combo
box to the desired selection. I know my paths are correct as I can
call the open() method to open the combo box. Anyone able to help.

You should create a class that represents your model and then you could use a CompositeCollection as the ItemsSource of the ComboBox.

generally the global parameters will be declared and do some logic in the intrface. in the address node,for dynamic address type parameter should be 3rd one ( am not sure), drag the global parameter into that field and you can proceed further.
The following logic I have used when I developed the forms when there is no address number.
I think you can use the similar logic in your case.
If your application makes no use of the Business Address Services but you still want to have country-specific addresses, you must use ABAP coding to achieve this. It is possible to do this in the application program or in the initialization coding of the interface. The example here describes the latter option. You need to call the function module ADDRESS_INTO_PRINTFORM. Among its parameters, you will find address_1. This structure contains all relevant address fields, like name, street, city, or country. These fields must be filled with the address data from your application. In other words, you must take care to create a correct mapping of the address fields from your application and the individual address fields of structure address_1.
You should determine the value of parameter number_of_lines. It equals the maximum number of lines that will be created from the address data. Function module ADDRESS_INTO_PRINTFORM returns an internal table address_printform_table, which has only one column. Every line contains one line of the address that has been assembled according to the addressee's country. These lines need to be converted into a two-column internal table of type tline that can be used as the source of a dynamic text in a PDF form. Its two columns are:
TDFORMAT - contains the paragraph format of the line (e.g. an asterisk for the default format)
TDLINE contains the text itself.

You where given the answer. Did you try it? Did it work? Then why are you questioning the suggestion?
Its one line of code if you use a BorderLayout which by the way was specifically designed for this purpose.
Yes you can do it with a GridBagLayout with about 5 lines of code.
So the question is why would you want to write 5 lines of code when you can use one?
If your question was "How do I waste my time forcing the GridBagLayout to size a component to take up all the space of the frame", then you would have received a different answer. (Although most people would have told you to use a BorderLayout anyway, since its easier).
