Command-F search results aren't sorted by category
I recently upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. I'm running 10.5.3 on a MacBook.
Under Tiger, whenever I did a command-F search, the results were displayed in neat little categories ("Folders," "PDF Documents," "HTML," "Images," "Other'). Using Leopard, though, the search results are simply presented in one long list, not by category.
I'd really like to get those category headers back. Is there a way to reactivate them?
Really? Wow. I figured it was just a corrupt Spotlight database or something like that causing the "problem." I'm very disappointed to learn otherwise.
In any case, thanks for the answer!

Lumia local search results does not sort by distan...
Since the Amber update, if I try to search for anything the results are no longer sorted by distance. For example - while trying to find my nearest hardware store the first result was not even in the same country! I had to scroll down several screens until i found the one I was looking for.
This behavior also occurs when using HERE+ Navigation App.
Is there a location setting somewhere that I can reset?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Hello minno,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
In reference to your first questions, try going to the dates in the calendar and manually looking to see if the appointments have synchronized over. Also please make sure that you are using the same calendar in outlook for your Birthdays/Anniversaries as all the other entries that synchronized over.
When it comes to the second point, BlackBerry smartphone does not support calendar categorization and it will not synchronize over the different colors/categories from outlook.
Thank you

Mail search returns results by random date. Where are the mail search parameters, from,to,etc?
This is really annoying. Mail search on iOS 7 never worked, either on iPhone
4S or on iPad.
Search results are not sorted in any perceivable order. I get totally random results, with messages dating 4 years back jumping to yesterday and so on.
I have never seen Apple to respond to this issue with earnest feedback, and users are often dismissed.
I used to have to resort to my Macbook Pro to get decent results, but due to the many mail app problems on OSX, I do not rely on it anymore.
Can Apple please give feedback to this search issue on the IOS devices? It is really, REALLY crippling. -
Word files appearing as search results
Hello,
I thought I'd come across a topic like this before, but I
can't seem to find one now. Here's my situation...
I have some MS Word files included in my RH project for users
to download. They are located in their own book -- let's call it
"Forms." I would like the "Forms" book to be the only place that
users find those files.
What I didn't realize was that links to download those files
would appear as search results. They sort of interrupt the other
search results, and the file names that I've given them were not
intended for clients. I can rename all of them, but I'd prefer to
remove them from the search results.
There must be a way to do this...right?
If it helps, I'm using RoboHelp HTML X5.0.2, and my Primary
Layout is WebHelp Pro.
Thanks! I've found a lot of help throughout these
forums.Hello,
You have to use Archiving object - "FI_ACCRECV" to archive Customer Master Data (BP).
When general data for customer master records is archived, the system automatically checks whether the following conditions have been met:
- The deletion flag is set.
- The customer is not locked for deletion.
- Dependent data of the following types no longer exists in the system:
1. Business partner of the customer
2. Company code-specific data (FI data)
3. Sales data (SD data)
4. Transaction figures
5. Special general ledger transaction figures
6. Open items
7. Cleared items in the archive
8. Customer/Vendor links
For the archiving object all the required configurations should be maintained.
If you don't have archive server in place then do not take the option of storing (Just archive and delete the data).

How to sort web app items based on few fields of it on search result page?
I have a web app and its search. The search results are on multiple pages means it has pagination. My client's requirement is to have a feature which will sort results based on some web app items. for example we have a field price so when user select the price it needs to sort from high to low. Any one have idea how to do it?
I have just been playing around with this for something else, all you need to do is duplicate your price field into the weighting field and it will automatically sort from High to low for you.

Is it so difficult for Sun to sort search result and duke stars ?
In the years that I have been visiting these forums I have frequently (well every year at least) asked Sun to sort the search results by reverse date. In the last few months I have asked Sun to sort the new format of the results of "My Duke Stars". Is is so difficult to add a 'order by' clause to the SQL or am I missing something?
DrClap wrote:
It would be nice if they could do that, and I asked them too several months ago. It would also be nice if they told you how many points you got for an answer (not how many points were originally attached to the thread) and the date and time you got them (not the original date and time of the thread). But those changes might take more than just an ORDER BY clause. (Or they might be implemented by just choosing the right columns from joined tables, who knows?)They seem to have all the functionality already there, it's just spread out across two pages when it should be all on one.

With a Custom Search portlet how to Sort the Result By Sequence. i.e. by respecting arrangements of the items in the page of contents?
Actually the Results Options "Order By" are : Create Date, Author, Creator, Date Updated, Display Name, Last Update by, Publish Date, Score.
Is there an action to add the "Sequence" Order By result Option?
Great thanks for your kind help.
Best regardsNo, I agree that it is functionality that should be added to the product, but it
is not a bug because it was not written to do this.
It is a short coming of the product.

Hi
We tried to sort the PeopleSearch Results by LastName and then by FirstName using the Query Designer.
In the preview everything works fine, buth when we save the web part settings and do a seearch on the people results page, the results are not sorted as excpected.
Query Sorting, (sorting as expected in preview)
People results page using the settings above:
Not properly sorted
Does anybody have an idea?
Thanks,
StephanWow! I was able to reproduce your problem. There seems to be no way to get the sorting to work correctly in the search results. I have been able to sort the results correctly using either a) Content by Search part or b) an App issuing a query through
the API.
I think you are going to have to replace the OOB people search page with a custom solution based on either the Content by Search part or an app.
I have an Employee Directory app available on my CodePlex project here.

Is it possible to sort search results
Is there a way to setup the order of the search results
during the project build process? Currently in my manual when a
user searches for an item, the results come up in alpha order. If
possible I would prefer to display them in order of relevance. Any
ideas?mitchgrrt wrote:
I see. It sort of, partly, does what I want. It seems like you can limit the search to one of the "places" that show up on the left side of Finder. So on my Mac I can choose to limit the search to Desktop, mitch, Applications, or Documents in my case (my username is mitch).
That's an improvement, but can I limit the search to subdirectory mitch/dir1/dir2? That's what I would really like.
of course. as I told you open mitch/dir1/dir2 in finder and start the search from there. the search will default to searching the whole mac but in the search toolbar you can switch to searching just this directory. and if you want you can save the result as a smart search and put in the the sideebar for quick access if you do this particular search often.
Or can I sort the search results by where they are in subdirectories?
no, you can't do that.
Thanks.

How do I sort new iTunes store searched results (ie Popularity)?
New iTunes Store (Ver. 11.0) will not let me sort search results.
I'm almost certain this was a feature in older versions of iTunes store but can't get to work in new version.
Any help would be appreciated.I too am having this problem. Just searched for a song title which threw up around 300 results - I could always sort those by artist or album or time (this was really useful as I buy a lot of remixes and used to sort by time - just looked first at the longest, often), etc. Additionally I cant widen the columne so cant see any of the titles fully even. The whole search results page seems completely useless. Classical searches will be a nightmare with hundreds of recordings and seemingly no way of sorting and cant even see the information fully. One thing I have discovered with this awful new ITunes is that after hours of playing around many things are in fact there - just in very odd places or in different (and less user friendly) set up . . . I have also had some fantastic help through these pages - thanks everoone.
This search result glitch does seem a real mistake surely ? If nothing else it makes me FAR less likley to buy - i cant find anything ! Lets hope I"they" cotton on to that effect and sortsit out . . . . -
Don't sort search results?
Hm, I guess there is no easy way to tell RH8 to list WebHelp search results in a very simple list and to relinquish the sort function within the search results?
Thanx y'all.

Once you've searched the store and received the results, how do you sort by name, by popularity, by album etc? You used to be able to simply click on the header.
Richard,
Couple of questions - is the property you're sorting by numeric or date? The search server cannot sort by a text property.
Also, is this a UI customization on the search result page, or some standalone code (say, a portlet that calls the server API)? And what portal version? There is some unintuitive behavior in some recent releases (5.0.2 and higher) where the search results page reverts to the sort order previously set by the user.

Sorting search results by rank
Hi,
Is it possible to sort the search results by rank in RH8 html help ? It works when I click on Title but not when Rank is clicked. What I mean is changing from ascending to descending order.
Thanks,Which version of content server do you have? In 7.x you can install a custom component named MultiSort, and in 10gR3 this is built in.
Basically you need to use a parameter named SortSpec
example:
http://yourserver/instance/idcplg?<original query>&SortSpec=order%20by%20dDocType%20desc,%20dDocName%20asc
For more information visit: [http://www.corecontentonly.com/2008/08/13/MultiSortWith10gR3SortSpec.aspx|http://www.corecontentonly.com/2008/08/13/MultiSortWith10gR3SortSpec.aspx] -
hello ,
I would like to have a custom control that sort search results ( A to Z or Z to A ), so , i created a dropdownlist with two entry : A-Z et Z-A.
When user click A-Z , i would like that search results display in the right alphabetic order from A to Z.
How to accomplish my goal step by step ?
Thanks.Hi Piing,
To sort the search results, you need to define the results to sort by which managed property.
As each result has many managed properties, I recommend to use Title managed property to sort the results.
If that is the case, then we need to write the sort dropdown like this:
[{"name":"A-Z","sorts":[{"p":"Title","d":0}]},{"name":"Z-A","sorts":[{"p":"Title","d":1}]}].
After that, we need to edit the search results page and then edit the Search Results web part, then expand Settings and check Show sort dropdown. After that paste the above JSON inside the box and save the changes back to SharePoint.
You can refer to the link below for details about how to write the JSON inside the sort dropdown:
