Common Syntax Errors

I am currently running Coldfusion 6 locally on my computer
and using Dreamweaver 8 to contstruct .cfm pages for general
testing purposes. Recently, there has been an upgrade to CF 7 on
our remote server. As I create and test pages locally, all goes
well, but when I upload to our remote coldfusion server, I receive
all kinds of errors that relate mainly to my SQL Syntax when I test
and preview my pages. I've gone into the new CF 7 admin and checked
all my datasources and everything checks out, but when I do a
simple update of a record and then click to apply the updates and
route to a simple update success message page, I'm told I have a
syntax error in my update statement. These are not the only errors
I receive of this type.
My entire site worked fine up until the server upgrade took
place. Does anyone know if the hotfixs for CF 7 will correct these
kind of issues?

I didn't have any of those problems in all the upgrades I
did. Other problems but none in SQL. The hotfixes may help, so give
them a shot.
Perhaps if you post one of your SQL statements with the error
you are getting somebody can help you.

  • [SOLVED] Php.ini syntax error, unexpected '&'

    Hi guys,
I'm having a trouble setting up a local hosted LAMP, I want to enable the error reporting and display, but it's giving me this error:
    [root@albert albert]# php
PHP: syntax error, unexpected '&' in /etc/php/php.ini on line 105
    Line 105:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function PMA_DBI_num_rows() in /usr/share/webapps/phpMyAdmin/libraries/navigation/Nodes/Node.class.php on line 408
When I comment the line 105,106,107, it works as I expected, but I can't see any error output...
    Here it's the entire php.ini:
    [PHP]
    ; About php.ini ;
; PHP's initialization file, generally called php.ini, is responsible for
; configuring many of the aspects of PHP's behavior.
; PHP attempts to find and load this configuration from a number of locations.
; The following is a summary of its search order:
; 1. SAPI module specific location.
; 2. The PHPRC environment variable. (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 3. A number of predefined registry keys on Windows (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 4. Current working directory (except CLI)
; 5. The web server's directory (for SAPI modules), or directory of PHP
    ; (otherwise in Windows)
; 6. The directory from the --with-config-file-path compile time option, or the
    ; Windows directory (C:\windows or C:\winnt)
; See the PHP docs for more specific information.
; The syntax of the file is extremely simple. Whitespace and lines
; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably guessed).
; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
; they might mean something in the future.
; Directives following the section heading [PATH=/www/mysite] only
; apply to PHP files in the /www/mysite directory. Directives
; following the section heading [HOST=www.example.com] only apply to
; PHP files served from www.example.com. Directives set in these
; special sections cannot be overridden by user-defined INI files or
; at runtime. Currently, [PATH=] and [HOST=] sections only work under
    ; CGI/FastCGI.
; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
    ; directive = value
; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from FOO=bar.
; Directives are variables used to configure PHP or PHP extensions.
; There is no name validation. If PHP can't find an expected
; directive because it is not set or is mistyped, a default value will be used.
    ; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression
    ; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), a quoted string ("bar"), or a reference to a
; previously set variable or directive (e.g. ${foo})
; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:
    ; | bitwise OR
    ; ^ bitwise XOR
    ; & bitwise AND
    ; ~ bitwise NOT
    ; ! boolean NOT
; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.
; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:
; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = None ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = "None" ; sets foo to the string 'None'
; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.
    ; About this file ;
; PHP comes packaged with two INI files. One that is recommended to be used
; in production environments and one that is recommended to be used in
    ; development environments.
; php.ini-production contains settings which hold security, performance and
; best practices at its core. But please be aware, these settings may break
; compatibility with older or less security conscience applications. We
; recommending using the production ini in production and testing environments.
; php.ini-development is very similar to its production variant, except it's
; much more verbose when it comes to errors. We recommending using the
; development version only in development environments as errors shown to
; application users can inadvertently leak otherwise secure information.
    ; Quick Reference ;
; The following are all the settings which are different in either the production
; or development versions of the INIs with respect to PHP's default behavior.
; Please see the actual settings later in the document for more details as to why
; we recommend these changes in PHP's behavior.

; Output buffering is a mechanism for controlling how much output data
; (excluding headers and cookies) PHP should keep internally before pushing that
; data to the client. If your application's output exceeds this setting, PHP
; will send that data in chunks of roughly the size you specify.
; Turning on this setting and managing its maximum buffer size can yield some
; interesting side-effects depending on your application and web server.
; You may be able to send headers and cookies after you've already sent output

; directive is through the use of the error level constants and bitwise

; some common settings and their meanings.
; By default, PHP is set to take action on all errors, notices and warnings EXCEPT
; those related to E_NOTICE and E_STRICT, which together cover best practices and
; recommended coding standards in PHP. For performance reasons, this is the
; recommend error reporting setting. Your production server shouldn't be wasting
; resources complaining about best practices and coding standards. That's what
; development servers and development settings are for.
; Note: The php.ini-development file has this setting as E_ALL. This
; means it pretty much reports everything which is exactly what you want during
    ; development and early testing.
    ; Error Level Constants:
; E_ALL - All errors and warnings (includes E_STRICT as of PHP 5.4.0)
    ; E_ERROR - fatal run-time errors
    ; E_RECOVERABLE_ERROR - almost fatal run-time errors
    ; E_WARNING - run-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
    ; E_PARSE - compile-time parse errors
; E_NOTICE - run-time notices (these are warnings which often result
; from a bug in your code, but it's possible that it was
; intentional (e.g., using an uninitialized variable and
; relying on the fact it's automatically initialized to an
    ; empty string)
; E_STRICT - run-time notices, enable to have PHP suggest changes
; to your code which will ensure the best interoperability
; and forward compatibility of your code
; E_CORE_ERROR - fatal errors that occur during PHP's initial startup
    ; E_CORE_WARNING - warnings (non-fatal errors) that occur during PHP's
    ; initial startup
    ; E_COMPILE_ERROR - fatal compile-time errors
    ; E_COMPILE_WARNING - compile-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
    ; E_USER_ERROR - user-generated error message
    ; E_USER_WARNING - user-generated warning message
    ; E_USER_NOTICE - user-generated notice message
; E_DEPRECATED - warn about code that will not work in future versions
    ; of PHP
    ; E_USER_DEPRECATED - user-generated deprecation warnings
    ; Common Values:
; E_ALL (Show all errors, warnings and notices including coding standards.)
; E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE (Show all errors, except for notices)
; E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_STRICT (Show all errors, except for notices and coding standards warnings.)

; it could be very dangerous in production environments. Depending on the code
; which is triggering the error, sensitive information could potentially leak
; out of your application such as database usernames and passwords or worse.

    My platform is :
    OS : Windows 7 64 bit
    JRE : 1.7.0_25-b17 -
    %USERPROFILE% : C:\Users\SERGIO

Apex Listener Configuration Folder : C:\Users\SERGIO\AppData\Local\Temp\apex
    Can anyone help me, please?
    Sergio

You need to configure your config directory before you deploy. If you never configured v2 listener before then create a new folder like "c:\apex\config". Then use
    java -jar apex.war configdir  c:\apex\config
Then do your configuration as required and then deploy again.

  • Syntax Error while running step 34 (35) after unicode conversion

    Hello,
We are converting our test system to Unicode to find out how to do it
in our production system. We are at step 34/35 (Starting RFC job's) in
the database installation so we are almost done but we have encounted a
problem that we can't find a solution to. The error log in Sapinst give this
    information:
    ERROR      2008-11-09 11:19:19 [iaxxrfcimp.cpp:1103]           CAbRfcImpl::performFunctionCall FRF-00025  Unable to call function.
    Error message: ?`>?/?????????>??????/_???&<?(????????????????????????????????????????????????? .
At the same time we can read the following text in dev_w1 (and dev_w0 and so on):
    A  *** ERROR => Syntax error in program SAPLBTCH                                 [abgen.c      1388]
    A  *** ERROR => > Include LBTCHF39                                 line 173 [abgen.c      1390]
    A  *** ERROR => > Statement "âu2018âu2018âu2018âu2018âu2018IF" is not defined. Check your spelling. spelling. [abgen.c      1393]
The error don't always look the same, here is another example:
    A  *** ERROR => Syntax error in program SAPLSALC                                 [abgen.c      1388]
    A  *** ERROR => > Include LSALCU54                                 line 55 [abgen.c      1390]
    A  *** ERROR => > No component exists with the name "MTSYSIDâu2018MTMCNAMEâu2018MTNUMRANGEâu2018MTUIDâu2018". "MTSYSID [abgen.c      1393]
    A  *** ERROR => > âu2018MTMCNAMEâu2018MTNUMRANGEâu2018MTUIDâu2018". [abgen.c 1395]
The common thing is Syntax error. If we try to log in to the system using SAP Gui we get this message: "Syntax error in program SAPMS380".
In the file dev_disp we can read a lot of these:
    Tue Nov 11 14:06:32 2008
*** WARNING => DpRqServiceQueue: timeout of HIGH PRIO msg, return DP_CANT_HANDLE_REQ
But we should have enough WP since noone has loggen on to the system.
    Facts:

  • Syntax Error in Web UI component post upgrade

    Hi Experts,
We have a enhanced component in IC agent which is giving syntax error post upgrade from 7.0 to EHP2. It seems some attributes have been removed/altered in the new super class.
In this case do we need to delete the component enhancement and re do the effort or is there any way to regenerate the enhanced component ?
    Thanks, Please help.
    Rohit

    Hi Rohit,
I've written a few blogs where I collected the different steps necessary in CRM after an EhP or SP upgrade. Furthermore I described solutions to common problems in these blogs. Please have a look an see if one of the described approaches is suitable for your problem.

  • Merged dimension gives #syntax error

    Hi everybody,
i have a simple report that contains 2 query.
i merged two dimensions and everything looks like fine.
    but when i just refresh the query it gives me syntax error;
bo system : 4.1 sp3 and both of queries are bex queries.any suggestion please.

    Hi Veer,
    1) same behaviour with Applet as well as web mode
    2) No
    3) I created a webi report, added two bex queries, Country Code is the common dimension which I'm trying to merge. Once both BEx queries are freshed and the objects from both queries are available in in the report to choose from, I try to merge them Country Code, however the merge option isn't even available (i.e. it does not allow merging by selecting objects or choosing the merge from the menu). As a work around I pull the Country code in the report pane from each query as a seprarate objects, ( i notice Country code object from Query one has the values while the Country Code from the second query has the #TOREFRESH, although both query were refreshed at start).
Since both Country Code objects are on the report cavas, I refresh both queries again. Now I see the values in both objects. Now if I select the Country code from the left hand panel it allows merging. After merging, I drag the new merage counry code on the report Cavas i see the combined values (so far so good). Next I refresh the report again and magically the merged objects is disappeared from the report canvas and the #SYNTAX erro is it remains there.
As I said, I am using 4.1 with Sup Pak 3, build 1257.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards
    WAK

Similar error (not SQL Express but Enterprise) on my network reveals the following issue (still prevalent after removing and re-adding the machine to the network):
The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/machinename.domainname.local. The target name used was cifs/MACHINENAME. This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named machine accounts in the target realm (DOMAINNAME.LOCAL), and the client realm. Please contact your system administrator.
ALSO: The session setup from the computer MACHINENAME failed to authenticate. The name(s) of the account(s) referenced in the security database is MACHINENAME$. The following error occurred: Access is denied.
This default instance (Ent SQL 2008 on Ent Server 64 bit 2003 R2 SP2) failed with the MOF error using a service account to install SQL 2008.  Repair does not work.   "The SQL Server feature 'SQL_Engine_Core_Inst' is not in a supported state for repair, as it was never successfully configured. Only features from successful installations can be repaired. To continue, remove the specified SQL Server feature."
I expected to have more luck with the information here:  http://mark.michaelis.net/Blog/CategoryView.aspx?category=.Net but wound up with result seen in my next post.
Of note, tried the removal of leftover registry entries after a failed install as in link above, also removed sql folders prior to re-install. Error is the same and rather than list entire log here, there is a portion available below but as is evident, there is a permission error in the registry which verifies what mark michaelis has pointed out:

  • StartupItem with syntax error (sh script)

I'm comfy on the cli but still green with scripting it. I've followed the Apple tut on making a StartupItem, but I am getting simple (I hope) sh syntax errors when I run it. The three *Service functions are required, as they're called by the RunService function (from the sourced rc.common script) ... all per the Apple tutorial.
In any case, the error I get is:
line 7: syntax error near unexpected token `}'
    /Library/StartupItems/blah/blah: line 7: `}'
The complaint is about the bracing earlier in execution than the 'tricky' stuff. I hope that suggests the problem is here and not in my Boot.bash script. I'll post that too if, as I'm noticing with scripting, the complaints about eofs and bracing and such are not where the real problem lies. I'm a bash person though so, especially if this is just an sh syntax misuse, feel free to give me what for.
Any thoughts, fixes, or straight advice appreciated,
    Joel

    Hi Joel,
I've actually read a scripting guide that recommends defining functions with the "function" keyword and the norm is to put a space before and after the "()". However, your syntax is valid. In fact I see no errors at all; the script should work.
Thus, the problem is most likely something invisible. It's time to investigate the text editor you used to create the script. You should open the script in a UNIX text editor, like vim, and look for hidden characters or Mac line endings. An even better solution might be to get the free text editor TextWrangler, (or BBEdit if you have it) open the file and set it to show invisible characters. It will also tell you what kind of line endings are used in the file. You might also post a long listing of the StartupItem script.

  • Can't find: '{' expected and Syntax error

I did a hover caption tutorial at ultrashock.com. Scripts
work for others. When I try to publish, I get this output:

I copied all the imported AS files from the Macromedia

    Library.as and hotspot.fla.

Depending if you are writing a "class" or just wanting to
insert common code will determine if you need the .as files at
    runtime or not.
For example, when writing a class, you have to write it in an
external .as file and you only need the .as file during authoring
and publishing. Once the file has been published you do not need
the .as file any more. Classes are always referenced with the
    "import" keyword.
If want to include common code in your Flash file that is NOT
a class, then you would use the "include" keyword. When you
"include" a .as file you will have to also keep it with the
published SWF file. So you would need it during authoring and at
    runtime.

It is necessary to post code between code tags, otherwise it screws up. See the FAQ.
What sticks out right away is your wrong case statement case *"$1.* which should read *case "$1"*. You are also missing ;; to terminate your default case statement. You should also put $RETVAL between quotes and remove the /bin paths.

  • Mouseout syntax error

       Hello, i'm getting this error
syntax error at line 5 in "rectkate.mouseout" on "Stage": Mismatched braces
but this is a copy for serval others mouseout-commands...which are getting No problem??
    this is the function:
// play the timeline from the given position (ms or label)
    sym.play("ckate");
and this is in an other command:
// play the timeline from the given position (ms or label)
    sym.play("cdisc");
As i can see exactly the samen???
( Is there a maximum on the click and label commands? i've made several commands, most of the with mouseover en mouseout,
but when i maken a click-command, nothing happend??
When i make the exactly in a new document it works??
very strange...or does it have to do, with the other error??

Thanks, i'm not so good in this code...
The animation works good, only the error is ignoring on the edit-screen...but no major problem.
strange things, the error-good, is copied from another which is good..
What you suggest, is that better, or better for the overview when you use the code?
where must i put it, or is better to do not so, when you aren't familiar with the code?
Below, you find the 415 lines of code, maybe you can see it, where it go wrong?
It is an animation of 1 minute..with use of several sound effects, and almost at the end, 1 minute: stays "play form 0"
and half-way i want to create a label, when it cliked jump after this minute.. (i've you want i can also send you the .oam ( 987kb ))
    thanks anyway

I have also read that patching SMC has caused problems for some people so I don't really want to try that until I get some feedback.

    Hi Mike,
Tried your suggestion to rename the .dat and let SMC recreate it but I can't get the SMC database service to launch. So it looks like I am having trouble with the database. Any suggestions?
To back up, you nailed it with the loss of power - we lost both power supplies on a Sunday night with no warning and nothing in /var/adm/messages (since we send them to a loghost.) It was determined that chips within each power supply in the T5140 failed. So we replaced both power supplies and fired the server up. That is when we started getting the trap errors and only those two errors on clsol8.
I did check http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-KS but am not sure how that helps.
    What I tried:
    On clsol8 as root:
    # cd /opt/SUNWsymon/sbin
    # ls
    {db-memconfig.sh   es-details        es-imagetool      es-setup
    db-start          es-device         es-inst           es-start
    db-stop           es-dt             es-keys.sh        es-stop
    es-apps           es-gui-imagetool  es-lic            es-tool
    es-backup         es-guiinst        es-load-default   es-trapdest
    es-chelp          es-guisetup       es-makeagent      es-uninst
    es-cli            es-guistart       es-platform       es-validate
    es-common.sh      es-guistop        es-restore        esmultiip
    es-config         es-guiuninst      es-run            ports.config}
    # ./es-stop -A

    Stopping topology component
    Stopping event component
    Stopping grouping service
    Stopping trap component

  • Syntax error while writing a select query.

    Hi all,
I have a requirement where I have to pick a value if the text for that value is
    MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car.
And so I wrote a query that
SELECT     RUECK INTO XRUECK FROM AFVC WHERE ltxa1 = ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
                    ENDSELECT.
But it gives me a syntax error saying
u201CLiterals taking up more than one line not permittedu201D.
Can some one tell me what is wrong. I need to select RUECK value from AFVC  table if
    ltxa1 value is ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
Kindly help what is going wrong...
    Regards,
    Jessica Sam

    Hi,
Narendran is right use two single quotes.
also careful wile comparing string. i think as you write ltxa1 value is ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
so while comparing you must not use space just before staring use the following
SELECT  rueck INTO xrueck FROM afvc WHERE ltxa1 = 'MYCAR''S Lovliest Car'. " Not use Space before M
    ENDSELECT.
    Hope will help you.
    Kind Regards,
    Faisal
