"Communicate" with Barcode Reader

the Barcode Reader has Windows CE / Mobile in it
our client wants to use this so it can load Ordered Items by scanning its barcode
i'm wondering how this tools can "communicate" with B1
anyone ever do something like this before?

Hi Erick,
i was working before with barcode readers.
our customers always used barcode readers that place the itemcode direct after scanning.
it is nothing special - you configure the barcode reader that
1. he sends the itemcode to windows (the text will be placed to the item that has the focus)
2. and he sends "tab" after sending the itemcode
thats it.

  • Assigning Barcode to any data so it could be reckognize with barcode reader

    Hi all,
Although I am a SolMan consultant, the fallowing task is assigned to me recently:
We have borrowed a Symbol handheld Barcode device, and I have connected it to SAP ECC, and generated needed screens so LM01 and other mobile transactions can be used.
Now, I am asked to create a basic, simple example of how the device can be used (from start to an end).
I fail to understand what is the concept of optimal usage of this device:
At first I thought: OK,  the goods is arriving to a WH, then I scan the material barcode, enter the amount, so the system automatically update the status in stock.
I have searched www and forums as well as sap help and I read that "SAP reads bar codes for identification and verification. The items that can be identified include Storage bin, Material, Quantity, Delivery, Staging area, Shipment, Pick wave, Handling unit, Storage Unit. It is possible to scan items for verification purposes and these fields includes Storage unit, Material, Quantity, Storage bin, Other fields determined in a user exit"
    Nicey!
The one milion dolar (or at list 10 point ) question is:
How do I generate a barcode for specific entry (one of mantioned)?
How do I link this barcode to this specific entry?
All I could find was a EAN field for material in MM01, and first I entered a (mineral water) barcode for testing purpose there, and then tried to read the barcode in LM01 with Goods Receipt > GR by others > Material.
Didn't work. Got message "Material 000000xxxxxxxxx does not exist".
Then I created a Delivery for that material, and again executet LM01 > Goods Receipt > GR by Delivery  - I get a "Delivery" filed. So now I can enter a delivery number and it is OK, but I am under strong impresion that delivery barcode should be used here, and not a manualy entered delivery number.
So - how can I link a delivery with certain barcode?
Is there a special transaction like "VB11" (I entered a test mineral water barcode as a "MatEntered", assigned to my test material "353" and again, I got the same "Material 000000xxxxxxxxx does not exist" message again.
Excuse me for such a basic questions, but look at the bright side: it will be lot easier to answer
    Thank you in advance,
    Nenad
P.s. - is there any good documentation covering this filed with some useful info of HOW to do it, not WHAT CAN BE DONE?

    Hi Arakish,
    Thank you for your reply.
This all makes sense for the internal numbers, but what about external barcode numbers?
For example, the same "mineral water" I tried to read - can I:
    - name the material "Mineral Water xx"
    - assign an external, manufacturer barcode number to it,
    - read that barcode,
    - the Mineral Water would be recognized as material?
I suppose I can. But how? I want the material to be named "mineral water xx", and not 8605002300xx?
So let's summarize (for the future colleagues-in-need):
Every internal number we want to enter with barcode should be used in original form - weather SAP generates it (Delivery, HU, SU...) or we named it ourselves (Material, Quantity...). No special Barcode number is needed to be assigned.
But first, we need to generate that specific number/data in Barcode format (example: Delivery), so we are able to read the very same number into pre-designated field (example: in Tx LM06) using a BC reader.
There is a (costy) plug in for Microsoft Excel that can transform a text to barcode. One should search the net for "barcode with Microsoft excel". However, there are other (commercial) software that can convert characters to barcode. SAP can do it via Smart Forms and SAPscript.
    Thanks once again,
    Cheers,
    N

  • Barcode printed with Adobe Reader XI cannot be recognized by barcode reader

    Dear Support,
We are generating barcode and convert it into pdf using Crystal Report for .NET Framework 2.0.
The pdf is opened with Adobe reader XI / FoxitReader 4.3.1. And it is printed with Avery Dennison AP 5.4 300DPI.
When the pdf is printed with Adobe reader XI, the barcode cannot be read with barcode reader, but when it is printed with FoxitReader 4.3.1, barcode can be read with barcode reader.
I've compared the two printed barcodes and found Adobe printed the lines thicker and the characters wider. Thus, two lines sticked together and become 1 line. As result, it cannot be recognized by barcode reader.
Could you explain why did this occur and how can I fix it in Adobe? Are there any settings I can change to solve it?
    Thank you very much.
Operating System: Windows Xp or Windows 7
Application: Adobe reader XI or FoxitReader 4.3.1

    Thanks Pak,
    I've attached the pdf on:
    https://files.acrobat.com/preview/47dde05c-4835-4bdc-881f-c406f8056f01
As the problem I've described in the post only occurs on specific printer, I've found a way to reproduce the barcode problem in most of the printer.
From the pdf I've provided, you may print it with Adobe and Foxit, using a printing scale of 190%.
For the Adoble one, you may observe some white lines in between the labels, and the Foxit, there are no white lines.
I do believe that two problems are related. Do you have any idea on that?

  • Synchronize barcode reader with SAP Gui

    Hi,
to speed up the order entry in transaction VA01 we've added a small dynpro which collects the line items before sending them to VA01.
Now the users are using a barcode reader to enter the product code. In the current configuration the barcode reader is sending an additional ENTER after each product code to perform some checks and to jump to the next field.
The problem is that the user is scanning the next item before the SAPGui is ready for input again (it's still executing the checks initiated by ENTER). This results in characters being lost without notification by the user, because they are not checking the screen after each scan.
Configuring the barcode reader to send TAB instead of ENTER is no solution either since this will result in problems when the screen is full and the user does see it.
Is there anything I can do to prevent that the input is corrupted?
    TIA,
    Martin

Hi Martin,  I've seen that same thing at my company.  We got rid of the problem just by upgrading the sapconsole to 6.40,  with this release,   there was something added,  a screen which says  " Processing.......... "  when the system is processing the data.  It is the only thing on the screen at the time and returns control back to the user when complete.  This does not keep them from scanning but does keep them from scanning in your your custom screen(which may or may not be helpful)  WIth this message, by itself,  this did not fix our problem, but it did give the users something to look at instead of a the same screen being locked up.  The user did not know whether the system was ready or not, so they kept scanning.
In conclusion,  I think you need to do two things.  a) Get to SAPconsole 6.40, so that the processing message will be there,  b)  train the users to look at the screen,  if it says "Processing",  then they MUST wait.

  • Can a USB Keyboard/Barcode reader be used with the USB port on the CRio

Is it possible to use a USB Keyboard or Barcode reader with the USB port on the CRio, I know you can use this port with a USB memory device, but what about other devices?
I have a project that requires that all hardware elements be connected to the controller and use the HMI purely for display,
    anybody any ideas??

    Hi kmoyna,
The standard CompactRIO range's USB host ports are not suitable for standard USB devices like keyboards or barcode readers - they are intended only for use of mass storage devices. From your description, it seems your project's requirements would be best met by the newer models, cRIO-9081 or cRIO-9082. These two units have Windows Embedded Standard 7 (WES7) and allow the direct connection of a monitor and standard USB devices. We now also have similar stand-alone CompactDAQ models running WES7 - cDAQ 9139.
I would recommend calling into your local branch to discuss your project further with one of our engineers. If you're in the UK, it's 01635 523 545 - or view contact details for other branches.

Manchester Art Gallery is trialling QR codes in its Remembering Slavery: Revealing History display. From 1-29 March visitors will be able to use their mobile phones to retrieve specially designed web pages. The pages invite visitors to submit comments on six works on show, and listen to and read poems and comments on some of the objects.
More information on the display is at http://www.manchestergalleries.org/whats-on/community-programmes/current-projects/
The project was initiated by Julian Tomlin, a freelance consultant who is undertaking a review of machine-readable technologies in museums for a consortium of London museums.
Come to the Gallery on Moseley Street, Manchester and try out your phone. The N95 includes a barcode reader. On Saturday 1 March there will be people on hand to offer some guidance. Let us know what you think of this emerging technology.

  • Keyence Barcode Reader & RS-232

Hey gang! Just wondering if anybody out there has successfully communicated with a Keyence BL-600 series barcode reader (or any Keyence barcode reader for that matter, I'm desperate) via RS-232.
I have a BL-601 and I can communicate with it when I'm using Keyence's software, but I can't get it to do anything through LabVIEW.
I've tried using the Instrument I/O Assistant and coding it the "low level way" and I'm just not getting anywhere with it so I decided I would throw my problem into the internet tubes and see what happens....
    Thanks!
    -- Jason

Communicating with a barcode reader over RS232 is the same as communicating with any RS232 device. You should first verify that you can communicate with it by using HyperTerminal if you're on Windows, or your favorite terminal program if you're using another OS. Next, call up the "Basic Serial Write and Read" example that ships with LabVIEW (Help->Find Examples). Set up the communication parameters as you need. In your case you probably want the "write" off. The VI is not set up to run in a loop so you will need to scan first then run the VI to get the data off the serial port buffer.
One suggestion: can you use a keyboard wedge with this reader instead? This would make it so that the string you scan would be as if you had physically typed it via a keyboard, and the application wouldn't know the difference.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw unable to communicate with product

    Hi guys,
I've had a HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw for 12months now and it has worked great over my wireless network. I recently upgraded from router from a 5 year old single band router to a late model dualband wireless N router.
Since i did this my HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw was unable to reconnect to my new network.
I have uninstalled the drivers and have tried reinstalling the drivers but each time (after I select Connect the Product/Coonect through wireless network, have tried both Yes retrieve the wirelss settings on my computer and No I will enter the wirelss settings manually) but no matter which I select the printer is installed successfully but then gets stuck at 15% and says cannont communicate with the product.
I have disabled my firewall during the installation and have only used the USB cable when the installation has asked me to do so.
The printer is visible in control panel but each time I do a test print or send something to the printer in the sys tray the print job is shown but nothing ever happens.
The installation will work fine if I install it via the directly connect to the computer using USB option.
If I do a test print fromt he printer itself by going into the network setting, network test it prints a page that says:
    Wireless On Pass
    Wirelss Working Pass
    Network Name SSID Found Fail
    Security Fail
Your HP printer cannot find your wirelss router. The WPA authentification method on your HP has changed fromt he default setting.
Is there anyway I can edit the SSID network name and password without having to do this install process?
This is really frustrating. Just spent 3 hours with HP support which got me know where (they were reading the script the supplied me) and then when I rebooted and went to go back to online chat support the website tells me their support is only available during business hours!
    Any help would be great

OK time to back up totally.   I need to make sure you are following the instructions in the user guide to install this printer.  Please start from scratch by uninstalling all software from your computer and outline every step to make sure it is correct.
You have to use the USB cable to set up the wireless connection.
Go here for the User Guide and all installation info.  Get your drivers and troubleshooting info here too.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5076465
The reason we have to start over is that you started the software installation when you changed your router.  You don't have to do this, but now we do.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.

Yes, the email addresses need to be unique to each device. You may use the same Apple ID on each device, but the email address used by each device needs to be different.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8100 unable to communicate with printer, but still prints

    Hello,
I have an Officejet Pro 8100 connected to a Windows XP SP3 computer via USB.
When installing  I downloaded the latest drivers off the HP webiste and followed the instructions for installing the printer and connecting via USB.  While installing I only installed the basic print driver.
The printer appeared to install correctly.
When printing (test page, or from other programs such as Word or Excell), the printer will actually print the requested document, however, an error box will pop up saying "Unable to communicate with printer".  The only option on the error box is the cancel the current print job.
Before cancelling the print job, even though the printer actually printed the document, I can still see the document in the print queue until I click the "Cancel" button on the error box.
I have deleted the printer, uninstalled and reinstalled twice, but the issue persists.
    Any ideas?

    Hi aconway,
I hate to hear you are having issues.  This could be caused by a port issue, bad USB cable/hub/switch connection, or possibly a spooler or driver issue.  Click Here to run the print and scan doctor (select OS, then click the + sign beside utility diagnostic tools, click the download button next to print and scan doctor). If you would like to learn more about your product, Click Here.
    Suggestions:
    1. Run the print and scan doctor to identify any port issues
    2. Connect unit directly to PC with new USB cable that meets specifications(no longer than 4-6ft).
    3. Remove any hubs or switches if being used.
    Hope this helps!

  • Jabber for Mac 9.2.1 Cannot communicate with the server

    Hi All,
I'm using Webex and the Jabber for Mac 9.2.1 client that was automatically pushed.  I see "Cannot communicate with the server" when I attempt to login.
The same credentials work correctly when using the 8.6.5 client version.  I've attached the problem report file.
I would appreciate some guidance on what I need to do to get this to work.
    Cheers,
    Steve

We've seen this with a few of our users as well. All started noticing having issues Friday morning. As this is a hosted service for us via webex we had our engineers call in to Jabber support. Cisco performed a modification to their account and they were able to connect again. No SRV records were messed with.
***EDIT*** - This appears to have been caused by a certificate issue. The Trusted Root Certificate for QuoVadis expired and was not renewed on some machines.
    Go here: https://www.quovadisglobal.com/QVRepository/DownloadRootsAndCRL.aspx
Install the Cert for : QuoVadis Root CA2 (in windows, download as DER>right click file>install)
Jabber should connect now. The issue was in SSL validation with the appropriate hosted servers.

  • Right way to communicate with a socket server (TCP/IP)

    Hi,
I used to write data from my J2ME socket client to a J2EE socket server with writeUTF(). In this way I can send (and receive) directly Strings.
When I need an XML file I ask the server with something like os.writeUTF(GIVE_ME_XML_FILE) and I use an XML parser with this socket InputStream.
I was wondering if it's the right way to proceed ....?
How do you guys communicate with a server when you need "to talk" a lot ? Do you use only HTTP requests or (if you are allowed to) do you use Socket with writeUTF ?
Just to know if I'm completely wrong....and if I gonna have unsolicited issues ...
