NI USB 6229 to communicate with 1 wire EEPROM (read/write)

I have NI USB 6229 and am trying to communicate with a 1 wire EEPROM DS2433 chip through digital I/O with (hardware timing) with LabVIEW 7.1. I am struggling to read serial no. as well as reading/writing certain values which I have received through different analogue I/Os. Can anyone help me on this?

  • How does the PCI-6229 DAQ-card communicate with CB-68LP connector block?

    Hello!
I want to do a very simple task which is to just turn on/off a LED. I am using LabVIEW 7.1 and I have a DAQ-card PCI-6229. The DAQ-card is then wired to a connector block CB-68LP.
Now my problem is to figure out how the connector block communicates with the DAQ-card?
In the file I attached there is a picture of connector block and the device pinouts from the DAQ-card. But how do I know which of pinouts triggers some connector on the connectorblock?
Which are digital outputs on the DAQ-card?
Where can I read about this?

    Hello asc01001:
The digital pins of the PCI-6229 are labelled as Px.y, where x is the port name while y is the channel name.  For example, pin52 of the NI 6229 is P0.0; which is also port 0, channel 0 of the digital I/O of the DAQ card.
While "D GND", which are located at pin53, pin18, pin50, etc. are the negative terminal of all digital I/O of the DAQ cards.
    Please advice if this helps.

  • Can I use the instrument I/O assistant express vi to communicate with a USB connected instrument ?

Can I use the instrument I/O assistant express vi to communicate with a USB connected instrument ? My PC is running Windows 2000 et Labview7 express.
where can I get information or examples on the assistant and USB communication ?

Yes you can - the Instrument I/O Assistant communicates with message-based instruments through VISA. VISA 3.0 supports USB instruments and VISA 3.0 is the version of VISA that installs with the Assistant.

  • Can i communicate by the USB port, if my application is set up to communicate with the serial RS232 port???

Hi to all labview users... Please help me with my deadly problem. Last Deadline is on monday next week!.
I got a complete program now, written and tested OK. It communicates with a slave to control a motor. I've set up the program to communicate with the slave by the VISA RS232 Serial Port commuication.  and all works fine...
Now the problem is.. that The communication should have been by the USB port instead. So what I have done now, is that i used a USB to RS232 converter.  So that the USB Plug is plugged to the PC, and the RS232 end to my SLAVE,
When I send a command to my SLAVE,  the SLAVE seems to understand it and it executes the command. But I must read some data at the port after sending my command to the SLAVE, coz, this command ask the SLAVE to start streaming data to me.
All communication to me from the Slave  crashes so that i get ( sometimes if I get data ) wrong unknown data i cant understand.
So the big question is: Can i use USB communication although my Application is set up with serial communication if I use a USB to RS232 converter???  ( the Driver for the USB - SERIAL conv. is installed well.)
    Baudrate :115200.. parity : none,  Data bits: 8, stop bit : 1.
    Please help me.....

    Hi ZamZam,
Thanks for your detalied description of the problem. However I think the problem is how your USB-RS232 converter is converting the incoming serial command to the USB port. All Labview can see is a "normal" serial port. Do you have some information on the converter? You might also want to contact them to see if they are aware of this issue.

  • How to communicate with HID USB device under windows XP with Labview

I have designed a EZ-USB FX2 device and I need to communicate with LabVIEW. I mean I just want to send and receive data. I don’t know how to achieve this goal.Someone have advised me to design a HID device, then use VISA Driver Development Wizards to generate driver(inf file).SO I defined it to a hid device .However when I connect my hid device to the computer, it will automatically be recognized as HID compliance device. I can’t to install the inf file driver. I wondered whether all HID devices will be acquiescently installed the drivers contained in the windows rather than use the inf file driver generated by VISA Driver Development Wizards? If so,what should I do next to communicate with HID USB device under windows XP with Labview? HOPE TO GET HELP!

    Hi,
I am working on a project using PIC18F4550 MCU and USB.
I would need to send and receive data from the MCU thru USB. I have uninstaled the HID and created a new NI-VISA driver for my MCU. this worked fine, and it did showed up in MAX
Unfortunately I was not able to receive data from the MCU, Just sending!
I thought to use HID.DLL but the way I need to use the functions inside the HID DLL is simply too much for me, I am not a PC programmer.
There is any kind of VI that is able to use HID.DLL to comunicate with external devices conected to PC thru USB?
    Please Help

  • Want to communicate with a Transcend Jetflash usb pendrive

I want to communicate with a Transcend Jetflash usb pendrive through VISA USB raw can any one suggest me anything about this

    Hi tanu,
It is possible to use the VISA Driver Development Wizard to create a driver for your USB device, provided you have all the necessary information about the device such as vendor ID, product ID, and communication protocol.  Here are a KnowledgeBase entry and a Tutorial that should help you get started:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/E3A2C4FE42D7ED0D86256DB7005C65C9?OpenDocument

If all you are wanting to do is write data to the USB drive, then it might be easier to let the OS use it's own driver and just accesses the mounted drive with LabVIEW.

  • IPhone contacts: file transfer to Windows 7 via USB-cable  My iPhone can communicate with the computer only via USB-cable (no mobile data, no bluetooth, no internet, no outlook). As I want to get the phone to the "doctor" I want to save specifically

iPhone contacts: file transfer to Windows 7 via USB-cable
My iPhone can communicate with the computer only via USB-cable (no mobile data, no bluetooth, no internet, no outlook). As I want to get the phone to the "doctor" I want to save specifically my contact data and calendar details on the computer (OS: Windows 7). How can I solve this task? I will appreciate your valuable information, thanks.

Using the iPhone, the USB cable, iTunes and Windows Contacts, sync the iPhone contacts to Windows Contacts. That will save them there. They are also included in the iPhone backup made in iTunes, and if you use iCloud.
I'm sorry, I missed the calendar part the first time I looked. For calendar, you need a supported application on the computer (Outlook) or if you use iCloud, you can use the iCloud contacts and calendar app to sync.

  • How Can I Communicate with a Moble Phone throgh RS232 or USB mini,Does NI-VISA support these resources?

Just as we've known, NI LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI provide us the RS232 Lib for Serial Communication.
and also NI-VISA supports both ASL and USB resources.
Mobile Phone(Celler Phone) usually use two kind of ports for data communication: RS232 and USB mini.
both of which act as serial transmission actually.
so the question coming up is: Are the rs232 lib or NI-VISA developed to support the overall serial communication
or it just work well with the standard rs232 com port?
Phone from differnt vender has its particular port and driver.which relate to communication protocols.but
the accessory tool Hyper Terminal from Windows OS can communicate with all kinds phone which has
its driver installed on the system.
so does anyone can give some idea about low level serial communication?thank you very much.

NI-VISA's ASRL sessions basically work with virtual COM ports, however NI-VISA ASRL operation is guaranteed only with standard COM ports and NI-Serial devices.  In fact, I have a 3rd party USB-Serial converter that comes with its own device driver providing a virtual COM port such as COM3, and accessing it through the NI-VISA occasionally causes a Blue Screen death.  (It is probably due to device driver.) Therefore using unsupported COM ports from NI-VISA is at your own risk.
As for low-level programming, a typical way is use Win32 Serial Communication API directly.  Accessing Win32 API is easy for C-language, but somewhat troublesome for LabVIEW.  See the following Platform SDK help:

  • Synchronize Series 2 PCMCIA CAN/2 with USB-6229

    Hi,
Just want to know if it's possible to synchronize series 2 PCMIA CAN/s or USB-8473s with USB-6229. If so how to connect the two setup together through RTSI connection? I assume I would follow the example VI "CAN Sync Start with NI-DAQmx". Thanks.
    Jason

    Hi Blayne,
Thanks for your reply. I used the reference design and connected it as follow. However I can see that the CAN and DAQ start is still not synchronize, I suspect I need to configure the startTrigger. Basically I want to it to start capturing analog and CAN data simultaneously when I start running. Analog signal will always be there, I suppose to set the trigger source to an analog input (AI0), when it start capturing, generate a pulse on the startTrigger to start CAN capture. How would I go about doing this?
    From the USB-8473s to USB-6229
    CLK -> 10Mhz pulse AO to PFI12
    TRIG -> ai/StartTrigger to PFI0
    GND -> DGND
I've attached a draft of my program.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Communicate with a USB port, DLL in Visual Basic, program in LabVIEW

    Hello !
I have to write a program in LabVIEW (I'm a novice in this language) to communicate with an interferometer via an USB port. The drivers and DLL for the USB port are written in Visual Basic.
-I don't know if it's possible to use them just so, or if I need to adapt them to LabVIEW.
-And how to do to call a particular function of my DLL ?
    Thank you for your answer...

  • How can I generate variable frequency in different time with NI USB 6229?!

    Hello,
      I have NI USB 6229, and I want to have VI which;
in this VI I have to firstly generate a initial frequency togive it to a circuit, after that according to the results that I am reading from circuit I have to make some delay in the same frequency  which I generated before and again give it to circuit to see the results again.actually in other word it is some kind of feedback process.
I would be thankful if some one can help me to how to make this VI because still I do not have any idea to program it.
Sorry if I could not explain well because I am as beginner .
    thanks

    Hi worldviol
I think a great place to start would be for you to have a look at the examples included in LabVIEW (help >> Find Examples..)
Have a look under 'Hardware Input and Output' > 'DAQmx' and then 'Analog Input' and 'Analog Output' you will also probably find 'Synchronization' useful.
The next stage would be to pick the most appropriate design pattern, you should read the white-paper here on design patterns.
I think the producer consumer design pattern would be useful here as you would be reading and writing to the device at different rates.
    Kind Regards

  • Brand new MacBook -- how can it communicate with my old iMac

I just got a new 2.2 GHz MacBook (black) with the current version of Leopard installed (10.5 I guess, I'm posting this from my PC at work, so I can't check). No real problems so far. I've been able to access the Internet through my cable modem at home (had to unplug my desktop, more on that below) and through Wi-Fi.
I still have and plan to keep my G3 iMac desktop machine, running OS 10.2.8, and my basic question is how I can get my two Macs to talk with each other. I don't currently have any sort of network at home -- I'm the only computer user. Setting up an AirPort station would make sense, since it would allow me to use the MacBook anywhere in the house. I'd need to install an AirPort card in the iMac, and the card that's currently available in the online Mac store is AirPort Extreme, which I don't think would work with the old iMac. (The specs say "AirPort Extreme Cards cannot be used in AirPort-ready computers with an AirPort Card slot.") Does any one know if there's a way to use the same AirPort station with both computers.
Since the primary reason for the computers to communication with each other would be to share files, connecting them with some sort of cable would be another option. When I asked the Apple store salesman what I would need, he sold me an Ethernet cable, but that doesn't seem to do the job. If I connect it to the Ethernet ports on both machines, they don't seem to see each other. Do I need some kind of router to connect both machines? Actually if there was a router that connected both computers to the cable modem, one cable could go to the iMac and the other to an AirPort station that would communicate with the MacBook, solving my issue above. Can I do anything via USB ports?
If all else fails, I could e-mail files to myself, but seems a rather roundabout way of doing things.

Usually you use a router as the hub for the computers to talk to each other over Ethernet wires or WiFi. When you hook the two computers up directly, you need a cross-over Ethernet cable, which is different from a standard Ethernet cable. (Although some of the newer computers can sense and use either, but I'm not sure about the older G3.)
A wired/wireless router would definitely be the way to go, why not take advantage of your MacBook wireless capability? This will let you share the internet connection, share files, and a printer between the two computers. Just about any router would work from Netgear, Linksys, Newer Technology, or the Apple Airport. Using an Airport Extreme Base Station would allow you to use an Ethernet cable for the G3 iMac and the WiFi for the Macbook. I currently use one this way with my older G3 Desktop and a MacBook. (I think the first time you start up the Airport you configure it over the Ethernet cable, I don't remember if you can do it wirelessly or not the first time.) You plug the cable modem into the router, then each computer into the router, (or connect over WiFi).
Once you have the Airport set up you can turn on file sharing and access each other's hard drive and printer over the network. Should you ever get a PC or have a visitor with one, they can connect also. Set up the password protected encryption and don't broadcast the network name so passersby can't see and connect to your network.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw unable to communicate with product

    Hi guys,
I've had a HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw for 12months now and it has worked great over my wireless network. I recently upgraded from router from a 5 year old single band router to a late model dualband wireless N router.
Since i did this my HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw was unable to reconnect to my new network.
I have uninstalled the drivers and have tried reinstalling the drivers but each time (after I select Connect the Product/Coonect through wireless network, have tried both Yes retrieve the wirelss settings on my computer and No I will enter the wirelss settings manually) but no matter which I select the printer is installed successfully but then gets stuck at 15% and says cannont communicate with the product.
I have disabled my firewall during the installation and have only used the USB cable when the installation has asked me to do so.
The printer is visible in control panel but each time I do a test print or send something to the printer in the sys tray the print job is shown but nothing ever happens.
The installation will work fine if I install it via the directly connect to the computer using USB option.
If I do a test print fromt he printer itself by going into the network setting, network test it prints a page that says:
    Wireless On Pass
    Wirelss Working Pass
    Network Name SSID Found Fail
    Security Fail
Your HP printer cannot find your wirelss router. The WPA authentification method on your HP has changed fromt he default setting.
Is there anyway I can edit the SSID network name and password without having to do this install process?
This is really frustrating. Just spent 3 hours with HP support which got me know where (they were reading the script the supplied me) and then when I rebooted and went to go back to online chat support the website tells me their support is only available during business hours!
    Any help would be great

OK time to back up totally.   I need to make sure you are following the instructions in the user guide to install this printer.  Please start from scratch by uninstalling all software from your computer and outline every step to make sure it is correct.
You have to use the USB cable to set up the wireless connection.
Go here for the User Guide and all installation info.  Get your drivers and troubleshooting info here too.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5076465
The reason we have to start over is that you started the software installation when you changed your router.  You don't have to do this, but now we do.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.
If my post resolved your problem, please mark it as an Accepted Solution ...

  • HP Officejet Pro 8100 unable to communicate with printer, but still prints

    Hello,
I have an Officejet Pro 8100 connected to a Windows XP SP3 computer via USB.
When installing  I downloaded the latest drivers off the HP webiste and followed the instructions for installing the printer and connecting via USB.  While installing I only installed the basic print driver.
The printer appeared to install correctly.
When printing (test page, or from other programs such as Word or Excell), the printer will actually print the requested document, however, an error box will pop up saying "Unable to communicate with printer".  The only option on the error box is the cancel the current print job.
Before cancelling the print job, even though the printer actually printed the document, I can still see the document in the print queue until I click the "Cancel" button on the error box.
I have deleted the printer, uninstalled and reinstalled twice, but the issue persists.
    Any ideas?

    Hi aconway,
I hate to hear you are having issues.  This could be caused by a port issue, bad USB cable/hub/switch connection, or possibly a spooler or driver issue.  Click Here to run the print and scan doctor (select OS, then click the + sign beside utility diagnostic tools, click the download button next to print and scan doctor). If you would like to learn more about your product, Click Here.
    Suggestions:
    1. Run the print and scan doctor to identify any port issues
    2. Connect unit directly to PC with new USB cable that meets specifications(no longer than 4-6ft).
    3. Remove any hubs or switches if being used.
    Hope this helps!
Also, remember a click on the Kudos star to the left is a quick "Thanks" for a helpful post.
