Communicate with Omron PLC

Hi, All LV Experts.
I have 1 project which require using LV 8.2 to communicate with Omron PLC model CJ1M-CPU11, surf around & found out that require using IA OPC server which I don't have & do not plan to invest on it.
So, seek for other advise on how to develop such project without using OPC Server.  The project is to monitor & sending data to PLC memory through RS-232 as what OPC server did.
Hope to get any suggestion....
Thanks in advance.

You may want to take a look at a download available at MrPLC.com that allows the CJ1M to serve as a modbus slave via the CPU's serial port.  I think it's also available somewhere from Omron.  Haven't used it myself.
<snip>
The Slave Interface allows the use of CS1G/H and CJ1G/H/M to be used like a slave device of MODBUS network. The PLC responds to the commands of a Master MODBUS device connected to the CPU RS232 port of an OMRON CS1/CJ1 PLC.  The Slave Interface responds to commands 03H (reading from data memory) and 10H (writing to data memory).

  • Can't communicate with 2nd PLC

I'm trying to run RSlinx Classic OEM and two Allen Bradley PCLs in my LabVIEW 2010 app. I can see both PLCs and their tags in my I/O Server under my project, but the 2nd PLC shared variable values are not getting into my code. The shared variables are their and they are linked to the correct tag names but no values. The 1st PLC and associated tag/shared variable values have always worked fine. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I called NI and they thought it was the ethernet divice driver to the PLC. But its the latest version. I tried setting up a 2nd remote I/O server for the 2nd PLC and that fixed it. It's confusing because all the tags show up in both I/O servers but I can only read the tags in the 1st PLC with the first server and the 2nd set of tags in the 2nd PLC in the 2nd server.

  • Use the VBAI to communicate with Beckhoff PLC in our line(via EtherCAT)

Hi I am very interesting with Vision Builder for Automated Inspection software, and I’d like to use the VBAI to communicate with Beckhoff PLC in our line(via EtherCAT) to develop vision system.
I see hints that I should be able to do this with Etherner/IP protocol between PLC and Vision Builder. But I cannot find any documentation on how to set up on vision builder.
Now I have a PC which already installed Beckhoff TwinCAT system and Vision Builder for Automated Inspection software that I would like to make a sample so that I can see how to communicate between Vision Builder and TwinCAT to send the pass/failed signal. Is it possible? Or do I need any other devices?
Are there any tutorials or instructions on how to do this?
Wait for your reply! Thank u!

    Hi,
Unfortunately, none of our Vision target support Ethercat yet. But we'll make note of the request.
Vision Builder AI supports the Modbus and Ethernet/IP protocols that you could use to communicate with your PLC.
Regarding Ethernet/IP, Vision Builder AI supports both Explicit messaging (Ethernet/IP step) and I/O data communication (Ethernet/IP Adapter step).
For explicit messaging, Vision Builder supports the logix addressing to read and write tags.
The Vision Builder AI configuration help details how to set up I/O data communication (implicit messaging) with Allen-Bradley PLCs, and this application note details how to set up implicit I/O communication with an Omron PLC.

Sorry, we haven't had any requests for Beckhoffs PLCs yet. If you get it to work, please post instructions here so that other users could benefit from it.
NI offers Ethercat support with our 8-Slot EtherCAT Slave Chassis for C Series I/O Modules.

  • How can I Communicate With Mitsubishi plc Q series

hey, i want to communicate with mitsubishi plc q series. Do i want to use any driver for this, or i can use VISA? what is the format to communicate with that.. pls help

Do you get any error code/message back? Sounds like the Java wrappers that you made for the C dll's need to be recompiled? If the application runs in a weird way using the bus monitor.exe (\NI-CAN) would help.

  • How to comminucate with multiple PLCs with Modbus TCP/IP using dynamic multithreads?

I have an application in which I communicate with several PLCs using MODBUS TCP/IP toolkit. There is an array of IP addresses that the user can configure. Using for loops allows to work with this however if one PLC is out, the program waits for the timeout before polling the next PLC. I would like to use a multithreading type in order that all PLCs are polled at once and is not dependent of each other. In other words, I would like to dynamically simulate several while loops happening at the same time. Is this possible?

Take a look at my Nugget on dynamically creating occurences found here.
Just ignore the Occurence stuff and the rest of the code and verbage should help you. The example code creates a bunch of background processes and passes a unique parameter to each.

Try the above link. I know it is a screen-full, but is a search result for Matrikon. They have a whole slew of OPC servers/clients you can try out. Personally, I would go with their OPC server for the Mitsubishi, and use Labview Datasockets. That would be the simplest with the lowest learning curve.
Otherwise, if you wish to use Modbus, you would have to get the commands/syntax from Mitsubishi; might be in their user manual, but I wouldn't lay bets on it. With the Matrikon stuff, the syntax is all built in.
Good luck which ever way you decide to go.

  • Can I communicate with a Micrologix 1400?

I'm trying to communicate with an Allen Bradley Micrologix 1400 using the OPC Client object and RSLinx Single Node as my OPC Server.  I have Lookout version 6.1.  So far I've been able to browse the plc in Lookout, but the diagnostics in RSLinx shows the connection toggling between active and inactive.  Has anyone done this before or know what the problem is?

  • Does Labview work with Koyo PLC's?

Does Labview comes with drivers for Koyo PLC's?

No it doesn't. You will have to get the OPC Server from Automation
Direct (DirectSOFT32) and then use that to communicate with LabVIEW.
It's not terribly difficult. Their are plenty of OPC examples in the
    LabVIEW installation.

  • Direct communication with SIEMENS PLC

I am trying to establish a direct connection with a SIEMENS S7 PLC. I donot want to use any card or profibus etc. I want to do it through the Serial Port.
I have used the IA server kit when communicating with SIEMENS S5 for which I used AS511 protocol. I would like to know if there is any such protocol for S7.
    Please Help!!

    Hi.
    I'll try explain it.
All Simatic S5 PLc's processors (CPU90 ,CPU100) have got serial (current loop converted to RS232) physical inteface as standard.
You can program PLC's or communicate with its by AS511 protocol.
S7 Simatics processors (CPU 3xx, CPU4xx) haven't got RS232 interface as standard. RS 232 interface occurs in forms of interface module connected to the rail (slot) and doesn't serve any protocol (simple chracters exchange).
You can program PLC, observe/modify I/O, variables, etc. only by standard RS485 interface using protocols MPI or PROFIBUS (PPI/MPI for Simatic S7-2xx CPU's).
You can try exchange data between Labview and S7 PLC by serial in characters form, but it is very difficult and inconvenient (you have to w
rite own driver for Labview and program for S7).
    Another solutions:
1.PROFIBUS card for PC with drivers for Labview (I don't know if they exist)
2.connection thru OPC server (PLC->PC by PROFIBUS card->OPC server->Labview by Datasocket)
I think second solution is more comfortable.

  • How can I connect LabView with a PLC S7-300?

I want to use LabView with a PLC S7-300. I think I can use a PC card or RS 232 with a HMI interface. What is the difference? I think I need an OPC server (I don´t know who sell it, National Instruments or Siemens) and I don´t know if I need anything else than LabView6i.
    Thank you.

    Alicia,
Ben's answer is absolutely correct. "Profibus" is the key word here, and a search of "profibus" from ni.com will provide quite a bit of information. I went ahead and pulled out the main items below. Follow the link below for product catalog info on the plug-in cards and interface software (the OPC Server) required.
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?lang=US&pc=bymn&cid=1315
For a step-by-step configuration tutorial, please follow this link:

And finally, for examples on how to communicate with this OPC Server, or any other OPC Server for that matter, LabVIEW has some shipping examples. From LabVIEW, goto "Help >
    > Communication >> Datasocket OPC". A good one here is the "Demo OPC Client" program, which uses a software OPC Demo Server that installs with LabVIEW. You could pull that open and work with the LabVIEW programming now before you even have the hardware.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw unable to communicate with product

    Hi guys,
I've had a HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw for 12months now and it has worked great over my wireless network. I recently upgraded from router from a 5 year old single band router to a late model dualband wireless N router.
Since i did this my HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw was unable to reconnect to my new network.
I have uninstalled the drivers and have tried reinstalling the drivers but each time (after I select Connect the Product/Coonect through wireless network, have tried both Yes retrieve the wirelss settings on my computer and No I will enter the wirelss settings manually) but no matter which I select the printer is installed successfully but then gets stuck at 15% and says cannont communicate with the product.
I have disabled my firewall during the installation and have only used the USB cable when the installation has asked me to do so.
The printer is visible in control panel but each time I do a test print or send something to the printer in the sys tray the print job is shown but nothing ever happens.
The installation will work fine if I install it via the directly connect to the computer using USB option.
If I do a test print fromt he printer itself by going into the network setting, network test it prints a page that says:
    Wireless On Pass
    Wirelss Working Pass
    Network Name SSID Found Fail
    Security Fail
Your HP printer cannot find your wirelss router. The WPA authentification method on your HP has changed fromt he default setting.
Is there anyway I can edit the SSID network name and password without having to do this install process?
This is really frustrating. Just spent 3 hours with HP support which got me know where (they were reading the script the supplied me) and then when I rebooted and went to go back to online chat support the website tells me their support is only available during business hours!
    Any help would be great

OK time to back up totally.   I need to make sure you are following the instructions in the user guide to install this printer.  Please start from scratch by uninstalling all software from your computer and outline every step to make sure it is correct.
You have to use the USB cable to set up the wireless connection.
Go here for the User Guide and all installation info.  Get your drivers and troubleshooting info here too.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5076465
The reason we have to start over is that you started the software installation when you changed your router.  You don't have to do this, but now we do.

  • Unable To Communicate With Printer HP Officejet Pro 8600 (Network)

I recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600. One morning a couple weeks ago I tried to print something and I received a prompt saying "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)". I turned off the printer and turned it back on which did not help, I then turned off my wireless network, turned it back on and still nothing. I finally figured out that I first have to turn off the printer, then turn off my wireless router wait thirty seconds, turn the router back on and the turn the printer back on. After these steps my printer was working. The next morning the same thing happened "Unable to Communicate with Printer (Network)" and I've been replaying Groundhog's Day ever since.
    Please help!

    Hello msheehy-
I would like to help you with this issue. It sounds like the router is changing the ip address of the printer. This could be caused by a couple reasons. (ip lease time, power loss to the router) I would recommend looking at the following link. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03781399&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4323648&tmp...
I think if you would set a static ip address in the printer EWS you would better off. I hope this helps.
