Compare PDF files.

Question:
Is it possible to enumerate objects on the PDF page and get back coordinates of each object? (I believe, we only have tables/texts/images)
Or, maybe someone can give me advice how to solve the problem below in a different way?
I looked into some of the tools, including Adobe SDK, and could not find the solution yet…
And I do not care is the tool is free, or not…
Problem I need to solve:
We use third party tool to generate PDF files.
With new upgrade, generated files are almost identical.
It creates the same information – but, sometimes it is displayed 1,2 pixels off.
We have thousands of files to compare. In the past, we would export the image of each PDF page and do pixel compare. With 1,2 pixel offsets, it becomes very difficult to do image comparison....
If there is a way to enumerate the objects with coordinates, I can very easily compare the objects, and ignore 1,2 pixel errors, when the text/image itself are the same…

You will need to elaborate. Are you wanting to compare and extract textural differences or just to decide whether the two files have exactly the same bytes.

I've seen a number of posts saying that Acrobat 9 has good document comparison tools. I just downloaded Adobe Reader 9.2.0 for Mac. The Documents menu has no menu item for document comparison.
What am I missing?

Hello I am using Acrobat PRO XI on 30days demonstration program.
Now I want to compare PDF files without text ornament (Fonts style, Bold, italic and etc ...) .
Microsoft word 2010 can control a comparison without text ornament, but document style is broken layout if there is tables and pictures including text.
If there are some good solution, I will buy Acrobat soon. if no, it may be postponed ...

Does anyone know how to compare two pdf files using adobe acrobat through command line. I want to do this via command line because we want to compare hundreds of file every day through some automated windows tasks.
If command line option is not available in acrobat, then is it feasible to make use of acrobat javascript API to do this task?
Any kind of help will be greatly.

Command-line: Not possible.
JavaScript: Possible, but very limited. Basically the only thing you can do is simulate clicking the Compare Documents button. The rest has to be done manually.
However, it *might* be possible to automate this process a bit more using a plugin. Ask over at the Acrobat SDK forum for more information...

How do I compare 2 PDF files for equality?

Hi,
I want to be able to compare 2 pdf files programmatically in C#.
I have tried using binary compare and I have found that
2 identical files do not match due to meta data I assume.
All I want to do is compare 2 files and match if
the displayed part is the same. The files have text, lines
and jpg.
If I cant do it in C# is there any library that can?

I have an iPad 2. I need to send pdf files from Quickoffice to my school's copy center for duplication to distribute to my students. When I click on choose files at the SUNY's copy center, I am only able to access Camera Roll and Photo Stream. Is there something comparable to My Documents in Windows that will allow pdf files in Quickoffice to appear?

Perhaps I am not clearly stating my problem. I always used my desktop or laptop to send files that were handouts to the copy center since I do not use a textbook for one English class. Both crashed within a two-day span so until I can get one fixed, I am hoping to use the iPad. I have all my files saved as PDF files in my email. I have added the Quickoffice app and transferred next week files from school email to Quickoffice. When I access SUNY's website to send my files to be copied and click on choose file, all that is there are photos. If there is not a central location in iOS, then how would I manually sync the files in Quickoffice to whatever is allowing the photo files to appear?

How to compare two separate PDF files with certain fields identical?

Does anyone know of a way that I could compare two separate PDF files containing the same information in certain locations? Please keep in mind that they contain different information as well. I know that it could be done with importing it to excel and running VBA to format the information to be similar and use formulas to validate information is correct, but this needs to be done very quickly with multiple files through out the day. One way to explain what type of PDF file this is, is think of excel: Column A and J contain the same information but B:I contain different information. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

iText is a third party library to create PDF originally written for java. iTextSharp is
the C# adaptation of that library.

Help with Reading values from static table in a .pdf file

Hi guys,
Pls try to clear this doubt of mine.
I basically have 2 files. Both are .pdf extension and they have tables in them. I need to compare certain values in one file with the corresponding values in the other table in the second file.
I need to do this programatically in c# . net
I have tried using packages like pdfbox and stuff which convert the pdf file into text. But cant I get the table as an object or something using which I can access the required rows and columns?
Also, these tables are static information. They are not a part of a form or anything like that.
Please help me with this.

Error when Generate PDF File on SAP BW 7.3

I have a report that was built using the web designer deployed on Production Environment. This report has the option for print a PDF file but this process fail. I ran the SAP Support Desktop tool over SAP BW and i find the following error:

Finally i compare the environments (Production, Dev and QAS) and in DEV and QAS this report works perfectly (generate PDF file correctly). I compare configurations of them and they have the same parameters and values.
The Support Desktop tools set on green all (DEV and QAS)
I found an article about the ADS rfc that use the adobe document service, so i check in the environment production and this doesn't exists (using SM59). I check in the environments DEV and QAS and this doesn't exists, but in both evironments appears just "ADS is enabled" and works perfectly.
I tried to execute the program test of PDF's (FP_TEST_IA_01 and FP_TEST_00) on the three environments and not working on all.
Please help me with this, i am crazy with this!!!
