Comparing .java files in JBuilder

Is this possible? I couldn't find this discussed elsewhere on the forum and am curious if and how this can be done. Currently using JBuilder 3.00.
The problem is that I have two slightly different .java files (applets) where one works and one doesn't. I'd like to have it step through both files and tell me where the differences are (like diff in unix--and no, I don't have a unix platform available to just use that :p ).

I'm not aware of that feature directly, but it's been awhile since I used JBuilder. Why don't you post to some borland newsgroup and see if any one knows the answer? Most IDEs have some limited version history that will allow you to compare versions of the same file. You could make one copy of the file your first version and the separate copy the second version and then compare ... ... ideally, you'd use a source control application for finding the differences.

  • JBuilder question on how to add a new .java file

    I am new to Java and even newer to JBuilder. I am creating the GUI for our school project and my other members are creating the networking and database parts of our program seperatly. I am at the point were I need to import their .java files into my project I created in JBuilder.
    Can someone tell me the steps I need to take to get those files into my project so I can start using the classes from my group they made up?

    You can use show_alert statement and then make a check on button that is pressed from the alert.
    Here is an example of show_alert built_in.
    DECLARE
      my_alert number;
      ALERT_TXT     VARCHAR2(200) := 'Do you want to delete record?';
    BEGIN
         set_alert_property('your_alert',ALERT_MESSAGE_TEXT,ALERT_TXT);
           my_alert := show_alert('your_alert');
           If my_alert = Alert_Button1 Then
             /** I choose to delete record **/
            -- here you can put your statements
           else
           -- I pressed NO button
           -- here you can put your statements
           end if;
    END;Hope it helps you,

    Any help or links are greatly appreciated.

    iText is an open source PDF library, reads a PDF one page at a time. You could check it out. I've used it for writing/splitting/concatenating PDFs, but not comparing files

  • Tools for Comparing Java Class Files

    Are there any tools out there that can compare two .class files to see if they are the same ?? Please help.
    Janet

    In Windows there's the FC command that compares two files to see if they are identical. In Unix there is no doubt a similar command. Or you could write a small bit of Java code that reads the two class files and compares them byte by byte.

    But I'm compiling within "Borland JBuilder 9.0". I've
    set the JDK path of the current project to point to
    the path of JDK 1.5.0 . I've also tried to compile at
    command prompt with "javac". I'm getting the same
    error of "Undefinedclassloader" with long StatckTrace.
    I don't know anything about JBuilder either. If you use the command prompt and enter the full path to the 1.5 javac.exe then that will prove whether the issue is using an older javac or not. For example "c:\j2sdk1.5.0_01\bin\javac HelloWorld.java"

  • Cannot import self-defined .java files?

    Hi,
    I created a MouseHandler.java file that contains a class (without main() ). and I have another appletcode.java file that needs to import it:
    import MouseHandler;
    I tried to javac appletcode.java and it said it couldn't find the package MouseHandler but I didn't package it in the first place.
    I tried JBuilder to compile it and it too gave:
    "Class required but identifier found at line 1, column 1"
    How do I import my source file(if it is possible)?
    Thanks.

    As it stands, if the compiled .class file is in the
    same directory as your program, it should run fine
    without the import statement. Notice, the import is
    failing, but your references to it aren't?It's in the same directory. I took out the import statement and it gave error:
    class MouseHandler not found in class appletcode at line ..., column ..
    PS: this code is actually from Beginning Java 2 by Wrox. Since mine couldn't work, I downloaded their code. Their code didn't contain the import statement (which should work like you said), but when I compile their code, it gave the same error as above too.
    Assuming that code and directory is correct, is there any other possible reasons why this is happening?
    Thank you

  • Replacing Class definition comments in java files.

    Hi to all,
    Im trying to implement a java file replacer that opens about a thousand java files and replaces the first comment lines. That is to say assume that these thousand java files have this comment at the beginning of them:
    *Date      Author     Changes
    *${date} ${author} initial release
    My application should find these comments and replace them with
    * Project Name:
    * File: ${file_name}
    * Purpose:
    * History:
    *Date      Author     Changes
    *${date} ${author} initial release
    I dont need any GUI. just I will print the changed files to console.
    My question is is there any example applications you guys can suggest and should I use XML and XSL to implement this application?
    Any suggestions are highly appriciated.
    Best Regards.
    Metan

    How is XML going to help you? Also for a task which you describe its easier to replace it wholesale rather than compare what is present and what is not. If you want to selectively want to remove stuff you might run into issues where you have to compare the name of the file, and you would not even know if the documentation already existing is the right one if you do not replace.
    If at all you wish to go with XML it is better with XSL transforms but I guess that would be an overkill for the purpose.
    As previously suggested perl is a very good option, or if you have unix operating system you can even try some basic shell scripting to do your job
    Thanks

    So you do not need 3 escapes.I posted that same answer 7 hours before you did! What part of your answer is any additional help compared to mine? It's fine to give someone another answer, but there's not much point in giving the SAME answer 7 hours later. If it were a few seconds or a few minutes later, I would excuse you for having tried to post at the same time. But, 7 hours?! Please read the existing answers next time, not just the original post.

  • Need Sorter java  file   for sorting the records in webdynpro java

    Hi  Gurus
       I  had urgent requirement please give your inputs
       In my webdynpro java i need to sort entire records in table
       I now we need One sorter java class please provide that java file
       please suggest the all the steps how  to do
    Thanks
    renu.

    1. Implement class comparator wich will compare records according your sort preferencies,
    like this:
         public class record_Comparator implements Comparator{
              public int compare(Object emp1, Object emp2){
          // here is your code for return -1if 'before'  or 0 if equal or 1if 'after'
                   int stepId_1 = ((record)emp1).get_someValue();
                   int stepId_2 = ((record)emp2).get_someValue();
                   if(stepId_1 > stepId_2)
                        return 1;
                   else if(stepId_1 < stepId_2)
                        return -1;
                   else
                        return 0;
    than call method sort() with your collection of records,
    like this:
    Collections.sort(record_collection, new record_Comparator());

    I dont want you to be on that list . Here goes my explanation..
    A class is well defined with members and functions
    An abstract class is not defined well as compared to a full fledged class (talking more generically)
    An interface is more abstract.
    I was asking the author who has posted this question to be like a class(very clear)
    and not either as an abstract class or an interface
    Hope i have made it clear..Not in the slightest. This has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the question asked. Not to mention that classes are classes, and all equal in the eyes of the compiler, be they abstract, concrete or interfaces. It's difficult to see what your point is, to be honest, but I suspect it wouldn't be worth seeing anyway

  • Run java class using JBuilder

    hi,
    I already import the java class forder to the src folder in JBuilder where the src folder is created by the JBuilder itself. When i run compile the program there is an error in reading the java class file but when i run the program in Textpad, the program is success. May i know why? how can i run my program using java class in JBuilder instead of Java source? Thanks.

    In JBuilder there is an option of specifying what the 'main' file in a project is . Specify that to this class file
    [ What I mean is , in many java files we can define 'main' method , but we will intend to execute the main of one file only for a project . In JBuilder specify this file as the main class file ]
