Compatibility Latest JRE with Forms version 10.1.2.3

Dear Experts,
We all know Form version 10.1.2.3 support JRE version 1.6.XX. But oracle stops this version and upgrade to 1.7.XX and latest is JRE 7u17.
Is there anyway or patchset available for forms working with latest JRE ?

Compatibility of CSDK with old versions of Server

I am using CAPI_VERSION '9.0.4.2' with SERVER_VERSION
'4.0 and above' (as reported by CSDK_GetCapabilities)
Some of the CSDK functions (such as CreateMemoryStream
and GetStatusString) work as expected but others
(including StoreEvents and FetchEventsByRange) fail with
status code CAPI_STAT_LIBRARY_SERVER_SUPPORT
The CAPI functions seem to work OK.
Is this due to connecting to an old version of a Calendar server (over which I have no access or control) ?
If it is will I be safe if I stick to using the CAPI
functions ?
(I am using gcc 3.3 on a SPARC Solaris 8 machine.)

Hi Philip,
you are right, the old CAPI functions are fine, but you should upgrade your server to the latest 9.0.4.2.9 in order to benefit from the latest performance and stability improvements.
If you cannot, you will have to stick with the older CAPI functions. Also, older servers used field holders, so if you are expecting to upgrade in the near future, make sure you check the README for the proper procedure.
Those field holders contained extraneous properties, but the server no longer makes use of such a design, so you will have to run a field-holder migration utility to conserve application-specific information.

Unable to open movies in certain sites using Firefox 4, no problem with former versions

As a almost daily visitor of the site Bigfun.be I got a crash every time I wanted to open a movie, since I started using Firefox 4.
After some automatic updates, the crashes disappeared.
But it's still unable to open movie files. There is a message which says that the file is being loaded, but it isn't.
I've contacted the webmaster, he knows about the problem and suggested me to uninstall the version 4 and to go back to the 3.6 version.

I went to that site and played a couple of movies without a problem. Cat & Budgie and Horse on the back seat of a car...lol.
Have a look at your firewall logs. Is the firewall blocking '''plugin_container.exe''' by any chance? That utility is part of Firefox and acts like a kind of sandbox to isolate plugins which crash without crashing the whole browser. But it does need Internet access. Generally speaking, what often happens is the firewall throws up an alert to which the user doesn't respond. So the firewall 'assumes' it's a threat and blocks it.
Can you go to this site: http://www.liveleak.com/ and click on any video. Is the player visible even if it doesn't play?

JPI Codebase for latest JRE 6.0

Hi. According to Sun documentation the latest JRE for Forms should be activated/downloaded by visiting
http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6-windows-i586.cab
However, this downloads and installs 1.6.0_12, when the current [ at time of writing ] version number is 1.6.0_17.
Does anyone know if this is right or not ?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to dynamically pick up the latest JRE installable version (identified by jpi_codebase in Forms). The CLSID is the mechanism used for determining which JRE you would like to run the applet with and has nothing to do with what is downloaded (with one exception - get to that in a sec - see Family CLSID). So, yes, there are a variety of different CLSID values that can be used, but it is up to the admin to determine what the minimum version is as controlled by the version sent to the client at install time.
Here are some CLSID examples:
Family:
CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA
This is used when you are want the latest version of a particular family (i.e. 1.5, 1.6, etc) installed on the client machine to be used. For example if 1.5.0_10, 1.6.0_14 are installed, 1.6.0_14 will be used because the above CLSID indicates that you want to use the 1.6 family.
I believe that it is this case when jpi_codebase is ignored and the latest JRE would be downloaded regardless of the value you set. In this case, if no JRE from the specified family was installed, the latest would be obtained (jpi_codebase ignored).
Dynamic:

Similar to family, but this will cause the newest of all families installed to be used. For example if multiple families are installed (i.e 1.5 and 1.6), the newest of 1.6 that is installed will be used.
Static:
CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0018-ABCDEFFEDCBA
The above will attempt to use 1.6.0_18 if it is installed. Be aware, however, that Sun introduced some changes in security which can cause the latest version installed to be used and not the one you have chosen. To the best of my knowledge this behavior has since been changed again so that you can now use static versioning again. This means that the exact behavior the end user exhibits may vary depending on which version is currently installed.
In general, Sun has changed the behavior several times since 1.6.0_10 was released, so it will take some trial and error testing to get what you want. This really has nothing to do with Oracle Forms, so we have little control over it. :(

Forms Version 10.1.2.0.2

I have installed Forms Version 10.1.2.0.2 on Windows Vista and Oracle 10g. When I am running the from getting message "Internet explorer has stopped working
" and asking to close the program.
I am able to connect database from Forms and OC4J instance is running properly. I am not sure what settings are required to run form Version 10.1.0.2
Any one can help.

It states that Vista, IE7 and JRE 1.5 require "Upcoming [Forms] patch set 10.1.2.3"
Also, "Sun's plug-in 1.6 is slated for certification with [Forms] version 11. There are no current plans to certify it with 10.1.2"

Cant Open Oracle Apps 11i Forms after installing latest JRE

We are currently on Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2. I had to install latest JRE 1.6 Update23 to be able to work on BI Publisher Templates and now I can't open any of the Oracle Forms under eBusiness Suite. IE just crashes, doesnt show any message on JInitiator Console either. Same issue with Mozilla Firefox browser.
FYI..I have a colleague who is able to work on both...BI Publisher Template Mgr and Oracle Fin Forms with latest JRE installed..So dont think its a server issue, its just my client setup. Any help is appreciated.

What is the difference between your client and your colleague client (in terms of client OS, browser, installed applications, ..etc)?
Do you meet the requirements in (Recommended Browsers for Oracle E-Business Suite 11i [ID 285218.1])?

Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store. The price is $19.99.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.

Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. hello paisley157, this error might be caused by security programs such as zone alarm - please temporarily disable those programs for the following procedure:
*download the full firefox setup file from getfirefox.com
*uninstall firefox on the machine (but don't chose to delete your custom files & settings in the uninstaller!)
*manually delete all remaining files in the firefox program folder, which usually resides in ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\''
*reinstall firefox

You can't. The closest thing would be to create links in an oracle database to the SQL Server database using Heteregeneous Services and connect forms to the that.

I am unable to edit a form created with LiveCycle version 8.5 with LiveCycle Version ES1.

I am trying to edit a form created with LiveCycle version 8.08.2073 (installed with Adobe Pro 8). I am using LiveCycle version ES (installed with Adobe Pro 9). I can open the fhe form, but the tools are greyed out. It apears the file is locked for editing, but I cannot determine where/how to unlock it.

You should try to start in safe mode which runs a file check. You hold the shift key down during a start up till there is a progress bar towards thr bottom of the screen. This start will take a longer time than normal. In safe mode try the functioins you are having problems with to see if there is an improvement. Some links below to read.

i have read through several other threads an nothing suggested seems to work
when i attempt to open a particular psd it tells me file cannot be opened because it is not compatible with this version of photoshop. it was built in cs3 and worked like 5 hrs before i tried to open it to work on it didn't save it when i opened it the last time(as in i just opened it on my pc to show some one n closed it ) i tried opening it in everything suggested it doesn't work. How are you saving these files (i.e., where did the file that won't open come from)?
If you're saving a .psd with a NEWER version of Photoshop, then in the newer version you should go into Edit - Preferences - File Handling and change the field Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility to Always if you want to be able to pass the PSD files around to multiple (older) versions of Photoshop.
If you're getting the files from others, you need to ask them to make the above change.

My APE 11 will read my Canon 70D raw file since I used the 8.3. In the organiser but as soon as I got to Edit the Raw file it just come up " Unable to use Camera Raw Plug-in" " It is not compatable with this version of Photoshop" No photo in the screen at all just a blank area with the raw sliders. And the box with the wording unable to use etc.

In my experience, if GraphicConverter can't open it, nothing will.

We upgraded to the latest JRE and when we go to our website which has an unsigned applet and I answer Yes to trust it, the applet never runs.

For another person at same IE level and JRE level it works fine and debug for that shows:

Is there something wrong with the "Deployment session certificate store" in the first instance? Treid un/reinstalling the JRE but it didn;t fix things.

Regenerate what certificate? The applet is unsigned.
Plus other people with the same IE level and same JRE level do not have this problem, which leads me to think it is something specific to this user, like maybe the deployment session certificate store. Is that a file someplace we can like delete to start clean?
