Hi everyone,
I am trying to deploy the simple sample for xws-security in the JWSDP 1.4 on redhat 9.0, I have done all the configurations as suggested by the tutorial and the readme file in the sample. But when I tried to run the sample by running "asant run-sample", I got a "wsdeploy failed" error. It looks like the following and happened at the "process-war" stage: (The earlier targets including "clean", "prepare", "gen-server", "compile-server", " set-web-inf", "raw-war" etc. work fine).

JakeHello again,
I got progress today, but still have some errors for the simple sample in the xws-security . (I am running on Redhat 9.0 and with Sun Java System Application Server 8) Looks like the sending message is ok, but at the receiving message stage, I got the following errors when running "asant run-sample":

I don't know if I have configured anything wrong. Basically, i just want to sign the outgoing soap message with my own p12 format certificate, hence I have chosen the following in the $JWSDP_HOME/xws-security/samples/simple/build.properties :
client.security.config=config/sign-client.xml
server.security.config=config/dump-server.xml
Also, according to the last section of the jWSDP release notes at http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.4/ReleaseNotes.html#KnownIssues
I added these two changes,
1. In the <jwsdp.home>/xws-security/samples/buildconfig/sjsas-config.xml file, delete the original .... app.classpath element definition and replace it with the following definition:
<path id="app.classpath">
<fileset dir="${sjsas.home}/lib/endorsed">
<include name="dom.jar"/>
</fileset>
<fileset dir="${sjsas.home}/lib">
<include name="*.jar"/>
</fileset>
<fileset dir="${javahome}/lib">
<include name="tools.jar"/>
</fileset>
</path>
2. In the <as.home>/domains/domain1/config/server.policy file, add the following configurations to the server.policy file, for the securesimple sample and pingservice samples, respectively.
// These permissions apply to securesimple webapp grant codeBase "file:${com.sun.aas.instanceRoot}/applications/j2ee-modules/securesimple/WEB-INF/-" {
permission javax.security.auth.AuthPermission "modifyPrincipals";
permission javax.security.auth.AuthPermission "modifyPublicCredentials"; permission javax.security.auth.AuthPermission "modifyPrivateCredentials";
permission javax.security.auth.AuthPermission "getSubject";
permission javax.security.auth.PrivateCredentialPermission "javax.security.auth.x500.X500PrivateCredential * \"*\"","read";
permission java.security.SecurityPermission "putProviderProperty.BC";
Moreover, has the sent message really been signed correctly? how can I tell the message has been signed by my own certificate? I have done the following:
1. In the $JWSDP_HOME/xws-security/samples/simple/config/sign-client.xml, change to
<xwss:SecurityConfiguration
xmlns:xwss="http://com.sun.xml.wss.configuration" dumpMessages="true">
<xwss:Sign/>
</xwss:SecurityConfiguration>
2. In the $JWSDP_HOME/xws-security/samples/simple/config/build.xml, change to something like the following in the run-sample target,
<sysproperty key="javax.net.ssl.keyStore" value="/work/nzw3/jakenew.p12"/>
<sysproperty key="javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword" value="jake"/>
<sysproperty key="javax.net.ssl.keyStoreType" value="pkcs12"/>
I didn't change anything about truststore.
What was the problem? What have I done wrong?
Many thanks,
Jake -
JWSDP 1.5: Certificates for XWS-Security samples expired April 9
The digitial certificates supplied with the XWS-Security samples in JWSDP 1.5 (e.g., JWSDP_HOME/xws-security/etc/client-truststore.jks) expired April 9, 2005. The XWSS sample programs now fail because the certificates are invalid. Are newer versions of the truststores available to replace the existing truststores, or do I need reinstall JWSDP to get newer certificates?
Thanks,
MikeI am having the same problem. I tried creating my own RSA keys with the same aliases, self signing them and putting them into the key/trust stores but still get errors. What procedure is there to replace them? Included below are my steps for dropping the certs and adding in new self signed ones, that I tried.

Log Message:
Fixing compiler error in my sample. I accidentally copy/pasted a line.
Modified Paths:
flex/sdk/branches/gumbo_alpha/frameworks/projects/flex4/asdoc/en_US/mx/components/example s/TextViewExample.mxmlI believe I see at least two problems:
(1) CXXOUTPUT_FLAGS="-0 %OutFile%
i.e. You've specified -0 [dash zero] where I imagine you want -o [dash oh]
I guess it's possible that your posting has a typographical error and that your build really does have -o [and not -0]. If that's the case, I imagine that your problem is the double quotation marks. It's possible or even likely that due to the quotations in "-o %OutFile%", the compiler attempts to interpret this whole string as an option - which of course it can't.
(2) LINK=cc
i.e. You've specified cc (the C compiler/linker) instead of CC (the C++ compiler/linker). -
Compilation Error: "class or interface expected" for simple EAR???
Dear all,
I have access to the customers NW CE 7.1 SP07 and of course I am using the corresponding NWDS 7.1 SP07 that comes with this CE installation. I am trying to study JEE 5 @ SAP and I have created a very simple Application (from the Book http://www.sap-press.de/katalog/buecher/titel/gp/titelID-1480).
In NWDS I have created the following 4 projects:
1. Dictionary Project
Describes 2 Tables (TMP_EMPLOYEES and TMP_ID_GEN)
2. EJB 5 Project
Contains a stateless EJB + local business interface + Entity class.
The EJB accesses the entity class, which is mapped to a simple table (TMP_EMPLOYEES).
3. Dynamic Web Project
Contains actually only one JSP (index.jsp) which allows to the local business interface for creating a new Entity.
4. Enterprise Application Project (EAR)
Creates a package from 2. and 3.
I have successfully deployed both the Dictionary Project and the EAR (all to the same server).
But If I call the corresponding URL via web browser I get the following error:
500 Internal Server Error
"Error in compiling [/EmployeeWeb/index.jsp] in application [sap.com/EmployeeEar]."
Details: "The WebApplicationException log ID is [005056841108002A00000070000007AC0139C8D8862D3EED]."
In the "Log Viewer" of the "SAP NetWeaver Administrator" (via browser...) I have found the following:
Message: Processing HTTP request to servlet [jsp] finished with error.
The error is: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.jsp.exceptions.CompilingException: Error in executing the compilation process: [ Compilation Failed! Exit Code=1

As you can see there is some compilation error, it says 3 times "'class' or 'interface' expected". If i remove all the relevant EJB java code from my index.jsp everything works fine. So I guess there must be some problem with finding the resources. Unfortunately this "logging" is not helpful at all (thank you SAP!). In NWDS everything is fine no problems at all!!!
Who can help me here with this?
Thanks in AdvanceI have found the issue.
in the index.jsp I have the following lines:
<!-- Import Statements -->
<%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext" %>
<%@ page import="com.sap.demo.session.EmployeeServicesLocal;" %>
Now check the end of the second import ==> ;
Removing the semicolon solves the issue. But the SAP error message is still not very helpful to me. -
Compiling error in my test file for Reader class.
I did a small program trying to test Reader class, here is my code:
package testfilereader;
import java.io.*;
import java.io.Reader;
import java.io.InputStream;
* Title:
* Description:

public class FileTest {
public static void main(String args[]){
Byte buff[] = new Byte[80];
try{
InputStream r = new FileInputStream("test.txt");
int i = r.read(buff);
String s = new String(buff);
System.out.println(s);
}catch(NullPointerException e){}
catch(IOException e2){}
But I continue to get compiling errors:
C:\>javac FileTest.java
FileTest.java:19: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : method read (java.lang.Byte[])
location: class java.io.InputStream
int i = r.read(buff);
^
FileTest.java:20: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : constructor String (java.lang.Byte[])
location: class java.lang.String
String s = new String(buff);
Please advise what is wrong here.Replace Byte with byte - the methods
expect arrays of byte; not Byte (which is a simple
class wrapper for byte).Hi, I changed to:
byte buff[] = new byte[80];
Same errors, any other ideas? -

mageshHi
for Windows NT, which C compiler would be better for compiling the programs
for tux clients and servers?
do we have to use the MS-VC++ compiler and what are the environment
variables to be set if i have to use build(client|server) ?
pls. help me.

Magesh,
As I already posted, you need a C compiler installed.buildclient
merely invoke the system compiler.

Three steps to solve this problem:
1. Set the LANG environment variable: set LANG=English_United
States.1252;
2. In the tuxedo directory Tuxedo\locale, make a new directory named
English_United States.1252;
3. Copy all files in diirectory Tuxedo\locale\C into the newdirectory.

When I compile the Insurance-Javafiles, I get the error
Class oracle.ifs.beans.xxxx not found in import.
I use the

both on NT.
I run the ifsenv.bat and followed the instructions for installing the Devkit.
I am sorry, if this question was posted before, but I am new in Databasedeveloping and didn't find an answer in older postings.

Compiler error type of object in for (Class obj : Items) - why?
Hi all,
I'm new to Java generics and am in the process of converting some
legacy code. I have encountered a particular error which I do not
understand the reason for, since I think the compiler has enough
information about the code to work out type information. The following
code shows a test class which demonstrates this error:
import java.util.Collection;
public class Test
interface Base {}
static class Impl1 implements Base{}
public <T extends Base> Collection<T> getCollection(Class<? extends Base> cls)
return null;
void someMethod()
for ( Impl1 obj : getCollection( Impl1.class ))
// *** compiler complains about the line above ***
// compiler says:
// Test.java:22: incompatible types
// found : Test.Base
// required: Test.Impl1
// for ( Impl1 obj : getCollection( Impl1.class ))
// ^
void someMethod2()
Collection<Impl1> coln = getCollection(Impl1.class);
for (Impl1 obj : coln)
// do something here with obj
}Why should the compiler complain where it does ( the line marked with
asterisks) in someMethod, but does not reject the declaration statement
in someMethod2? I would have assumed both are the same and the
compiler has the same type information at its disposal to determine
the correct type.
Cheers,
BonnyThe Java 5 compiler not only looks at a method's name and arguments, but also at its return value in order to determine whether a method is callable and what type should be infered for its type parameters.
In your example the type parameter T is only used in the declaration of the method's return type. Note that there is no relation between T and the type of the argument cls!
Thus, the compiles needs to know what type of variable the return value will be assigned to.
Hence, someMethod2 can be resolved, whereas in someMethod there is no assignment of the return value. (Rather, an implicit call to Iterable.iterator()).
You can solve this problem by forming a relation between the method's argument, its return type and its type parameter. Just declare the method like this:
public <T extends Base> Collection<T> getCollection(Class<T> cls)
return null;

Compile error when using Collections.sort for Vector, why?
The compiler is giving an error when trying to do this (I'm using JDK 1.5.0_09):
Vector <String> test = new Vector <String>();
test.add("test1");
test.add("test2");
test.add("test3");
Collections.sort(test);The error being:
The method sort(Vector<String>) is undefined for the type Collections
Collections.sort takes List, but Vector is of type List, so this should work, correct?ChuckBing wrote:

Error installing OEHR sample objects for APEX 4.2
Hello,
I'm getting a weird error after importing the OEHR sample objects application from the script found at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/testcontent/oehr-sample-objects-131098.zip
The import process works, no errors, the application is created and so are the supporting objects.
I then try to edit the application (using Application Builder). I click on the only page ("About") and it doesn't render. The message reads :
Error during rendering of region "Page Rendering".
ORA-01403: no data found
If I try to run the application, I also get the same error (no data found). Which is bizarre, as this application is supposed to just show an "About" page.
I don't really mind that the application doesn't work, since the supporting objects are created correctly, but I am worried that there could be a configuration problem that causes this issue...
Has anyone else encountered this problem ?
I'm running :
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
Application Express 4.2.2.00.11
Other sample applications seem to run just fine. Very strange...
Thanks very much !
-LauraHi Laura,
As the name suggests, 'OEHR Sample Objects', is meant for importing of sample objects that are referenced in a number of OBEs and tutorials on APEX. Those objects can then be used for the creation of the various applications and component examples in the tutorials, etc. The application itself is not a functioning application, so the errors you see would be expected. As stated in Chapter 3 of our 2 Day+ Application Developer's Guide, in the note at the end of section Importing the OEHR Supporting Objects:
The OEHR Sample Objects application that you just installed functions solely as a way to install the sample objects needed to complete the exercises in this document. You will not directly use this application.
If you wish to install sample applications, then I would recommend that you navigate to Application Builder > Packaged Applications, for the list of available packaged business productivity applications, as well as a number of sample code applications. Please note that none of these applications are based upon the database objects that would have been created when you installed 'OEHR Sample Objects'. Apologies for any confusion, but hopefully this helps to clarify things.

Hi guys,
I finished running the xws-security samples in the JWSDP, and start trying to build a web services with xws-security feature.
I copied the "config" folder containing config xml files, and the build.properties file from the sample to my own netbeans project folder. The build file was modified as well. I simply added the "-security" option followed by the path of the config file to the <wscompile> tag in the build file.
<wscompile sourceBase="${build.generated.dir}/wsservice" features="${wscompile.service.sec.features}" config="${sec.config.name}"
mapping="${build.web.dir.real}/WEB-INF/${sec.mapping}" classpath="${wscompile.classpath}:${build.classes.dir.real}:${javac.classpath}"
nonClassDir="${build.web.dir.real}/WEB-INF/wsdl"
verbose="true" xPrintStackTrace="true" base="${build.generated.dir}/wsbinary"
keep="true"
fork="true"
define="true"
security="${client.security.config}"/>No errors came out during the Build process. However, I looked in to the wsdl file created, and found that it seemed the xws-security did not take any effects.
Did I miss something? Is adding the -security option of the wscompile command the only step I should take while deploying the xws-security?Hi,

Please help!
GeorgeHi, I got the xws-security/samples/simple application
working successfully with my own keystores. I have 2
questions regarding this sample application.
1) When running the application with the
encrypt-server.xml and encrypt-client.xml
configuration, why is it necessary to import the
client's certificate into the server's truststore and
the server's certificate into client's truststore when
their certificates have already been signed by a
trusted root CA (e.g. Verisign), whose certificate is
in both truststores? Shouldn't their certificates
containing their public keys get automatically
exchanged during the connection request? It's a pain
to publish a web service and expect a manual public
certificate import for each client wanting to use the
service.Certificates are sent only when the keyReferenceType is "Direct" which is the default. It's possible that our code is checking the certificate sent with one found in the KeyStore, but a quick scan of the code doesn't show it. If that's what's happening it's a bug. All of the other key reference strategies send only a referece to the sender's certificate in which case the reciever must have a copy of that certificate in its keystore.
2) I use Tomcat to run the sample application and did
set up the SSL connector to point to the keystores.
When the client connects to the server, it uses a
http endpoint not https. I'm aware that htpps is
needed for SSL support but not clear on where does
https come into play during the client's
request/server's response process.We share the SSL keystore so that certificates don't have to be stored in more than one place. The functionality of XWS-Security and SSL is logically the same so it make sense to use the same keystore. XWS-Security operates completely separately from the transport and never knows whether HTTPS is in use or not.
