Compile a .FMB on Solaris

I hava a .FMB wich was developed with FORMS BUILDER 9i on a WIN NT Machine. I transfer it via FTP on a Solaris Machine where the Oracle 9iAS is running. To get that Form running I have to compile it on solaris, right?
ok, How Do I compile it on solaris?
How to compile it?
Whats f90genm.sh ?? Does anybody know how to use it or how to geht information about it?
Is it necessary to install Forms Builder on Solaris to compile it?
Thank you for your help!
Greetings,
Marc

try with this script ( forms and menu )
for i in `ls *.fmb`
do
echo compiling for $1
frmcmp.sh Userid=<username>/<password>@alias Batch=Yes Module=$i Module_Type=Form Compile_All=Yes Window_State=Minimize
done
for i in `ls *.mmb`
do
echo compiling for $1
frmcmp.sh Userid=<username>/<password>@alias Batch=Yes Module=$i Module_Type=MENU Compile_All=Yes Window_State=Minimize
done

  • Compiling .fmb on solaris

    I just developed a Form with Forms9i on Windows NT.
    Now I want to deploy this form to our Application Server (9iAS Release 2) on a Solaris Machine.
    I know I cannot transfer the (NT-) compiled FMX to Solaris - I know I have to compile the FMB directly on Solaris to get
    a correct runnable FMX-File.
    My question: How to compile FMB on Solaris? I found a script "f90genm.sh". Whats that script, how to use it? Where can i find information about compiling FMBs on Solaris without Forms-Builder? Or is it a MUST to install Forms Builder on Solaris?
    Many thx for your help!

  • Transfer/compile all FMBs and RDFs to Linux

    hello,
    Assumption:
    Oracle AS (Infrastructure) and middle tires installed on the sigle box (including Business Intelligence & Forms). (Linux Box)
    I have forms & reports based application installed on windows XP box.
    This application is running.
    I wanted to run this application on Linux box where Oracle AS has installed.
    I have told before that I just need to transfer and compile all FMBs and RDFs on linux box.
    After that I can use this application from Oracle AS (BI & Forms) based linux box.
    is it correct?
    cheers,
    Dn

    You load FMBs and RDFs where you want. Then you have to configure FORMS90_PATH in default.env (or <application>.env) in $ORACLE_HOME/forms90/server and REPORTS_PATH in reports.sh, the script normally used to configure reports servers.
    Configurations are substantially the same as in DS (formsweb.cfg, default.env, forms90.conf, Registry.dat, and so on).
    Do I need to install DS suite?No, AS already has everything needed to compile and run Forms and Reports.

    Hi Vinu,
    I'm not sure if this is still an issue for you. When I have encountered issues like this with Pro*C I have ended up specifying parse=none to the proc command and then putting all declarations between "EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION" and "EXEC SQL END DECLARE SECTION" markers. I have also moved any "special" declarations into a specific header file and then placed the "#include <special header file>" inside the declare section as well.
    Perhaps that will help a bit,
    Regards,
    Mark

    The name of this forum is 'Java compiler'. Your question has nothing to do with that.

    At first glance I have a few questions and/or comments:
    You said:
    "...I did the steps to the configuration of the webutil and also apply the patch 4960210...{quote}
    Patch 4960210 is 10.1.2.2. Given that your Forms components are still reporting 10.1.2.0.2 as seen in your posting, I will assume that you did not correctly install and relink the patch. You should be seeing version 10.1.2.2 and not 10.1.2.0.2. Refer to Metalink note 404477.1 as this may be the cause of the patching problem. The note and the patch mentioned within that note are specific to Windows and SPARC, but may help you to troubleshoot your Solaris Intel environment.
    Although not related to your problem, be aware that the latest patch is 10.1.2.3 (patch ID 5983622)

    Once you correct this problem, you will need to ensure that you have run the WebUtil sql script as its contents is needed to compile webutil.pll. The script can be found in the Developer Suite Oralce Home\forms directory. The file name is: create_webutil_db.sql
    Also, I would recommend using frmcmp.sh and not _batch. This will require access to a X session.

  • Compiling / Linking error in Solaris Studio 12.3 C++ Compiler

    Hi,
    I downloaded Solaris Studio 12.3 (SolarisStudio12.3-solaris-x86-pkg.tar.bz2) & unpacked and installed on the default directory (in non-interactive mode) of local machine running Solaris 10 10/09 s10x_u8wos_08a X86. Also applied all the required patches by running the "install_patches.sh" after running "solarisstudio.sh".
    My application has make files to take care of the building the whole application. I made necessary changes to the make files to pick up the latest Solaris 12.3 C++ compiler. I could see that it has picked up for compiling.
    While building the whole project, the source files are compiled to object files successfully but when it is creating shared object (.so) files it stops at the below error:
    /opt/solarisstudio12.3/prod/bin/CC -mt -i -library=stlport4 -zdefs -ztext -G -h xmem.so -Lpic/lib/debug/sol32 -L/MyHome/open_source/abc/lib/sol32 -L/MyHome/open_source/mno/lib/sol32 -L/MyHome/open_source/pqr/lib/sol32 -L/MyHome/open_source/xyz/lib/sol32 -g -lc -lCrun -lumem -m32 -o debug/xmem.so
    *usage: CC [ options ] files. Use 'CC -flags' for details*
    Note:
    Some third party open source libraries are being used in the project. Those libraries are not built using Solaris Studio 12.3 compilers.
    Tried changing lot of options and re-ordering the switches/options but no luck. But on changing as mentioned below the shared library DID build successfully
    - Added space after '-L' option, added '*' at the end of path like "-L/MyHome/open_source/pqr/lib/sol32/*".
    Note:*_
    +1) I tried compiling a separate small program into object files using Solaris 12.3 C++ compiler but got the above error/problem when linking the experimental libraries (shared object) with most of the options used in the above command.+
    +2) The same project gets built successfully in Solaris Studio 12.1 (studio12.1-091123) and Solaris Studio 12 (studio12-070724) but the same is failing in Solaris Studio 12.3.+
    Can someone please help me to understand the issue and resolve it? Let me know if any more information is needed.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for the valuable input on the -xdebugformat option. Every suggestion of yours is helping me to proceed further to some extent. This time too, after removing the "-xdebugformat=stabs", I am able to go past the previous error.
    BUT this time I am running into -xarch option problem. I am not sure if this is a application design or compilation options issue or compiler issue. Posting it here to get some inputs to understand more on this before raising any service request with Oracle Support.
    The error details and workarounds used with their result._
    NOTE: All these compilation were passed in earlier Studio versions.

  • Compiling an application for Solaris 9 on a Solaris 10 system

    Hi,
    I was wondering if it's possible to compile an application Solaris 10 in such a way that it will run on Solaris 9.
    I'm building a set of library tools and they need to run on Solaris 9 and 10, but it'd be nice if I could build this on a Solaris 10 box.
    Is this possible, and if so, how do you do it?
    thanks,
    Trevor

    I'm working on this same issue. Unfortunetly, it appears that my only option is to compile on a Solaris 10 box for running on a Solaris 8 box. Thankfully this doesn't look too bad because after doing a 'ldd', I get that the only file I'm missing is the libm.so.2. If I can specify in the makefile to use libm.so.1 only, then all should be ok.
    So I guess my question would be: What exactly do I need to do in my makefile to explicitly link to libm.so.1? I've tried the following with no luck.
    /opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc -xCC -Bdynamic -g \
    /usr/lib/libm.so.1 \
    /opt/mylibs/my_compiled_lib.lib \
    first_obj.o \
    second_obj.o \
    -o my_program
    The above returns:
    ld: fatal: file /usr/lib/libm.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
    ld: fatal: File processing errors. No output written to macsruntime
    However, if I change my link to /usr/lib/libm.so everything works but it is linked with the /usr/lib.libm.so.2. Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to mass compile many fmb source code to fmx?

    I would like to know whether there is a fast way to compile say 50 fmb forms into fmx in Forms Builder 9i by one command in DOS prompt in Windows.
    I discovered that fmx is platform and language dependent on Windows XP.
    The compiled forms fmx work alright in Chinese Windows XP. If the compiled fmx is deployed on English Windows XP, some forms do not behave correctly, e.g. the LOV becomes not working, i.e. nothing happens when pressing Ctrl+L.
    However, if the fmb files are compiled again using Forms Builder on English Windows XP, all forms work perfectly.
    Any help is appreciated.

    You could as well use a JDAPI's to get this work done.
    import oracle.forms.jdapi.FormModule;
    import oracle.forms.jdapi.*;
    public class compilefmbs
    public static void main(String[] args)
    FormModule FM = new FormModule();
    int i=0;
    for (i=0;i< args.length() ; i++)
    // Open the one of formmodule passed as arguments in commandline
    // and compile each one of them. ( something.fmb --> something.fmx )
    FM.open(args);
    FM.compile();
    Hope this helps.

  • Compiling C++ application for Solaris 5.8

    Hi,
    How can we build/compile C++ application to be deployed on Solaris 5.8 OS? Which compiler should be used for the same?
    We are exploring how this can be done. Request your help to identify the mechanism in which we can achieve this.
    We explored following but it didnt worked -
    - Using Studio 12 we build application on Solaris 10 but it is giving error at execution time
    ld.so.1: ./distmgr: fatal: libCrun.so.1: version `SUNW_1.5' not found (required by file ./distmgr)
    Questions -
    - Is Studio 12 supported on Solaris 5.8?
    - If ready made binaries are not available of Studio 12 then can be build this for 5.8? IS the source code of Studio 12 available?
    - Can Studio 12 on Solaris 10 cross complie for OS Solaris 5.8
    Thanks and Regards,
    vinit.

    I strongly advise against using WS62. Studio 11 is superior to WS6u2 by any reasonable measure. Valid source code that compiled with older compilers should continue to work correctly with later compilers. Any problems are usually due to invalid code that was incorrectly accepted by the earlier compiler. In some cases we provide compiler options to reproduce the old compiler behavior, but it is better to fix the code so that it is valid and has well-defined semantics.
    Consider also whether you would wind up mixing binaries built by WS6u2 with binaries built by a later compiler. If so, you must use the later (or latest) compiler involved to perform any link steps. That is, steps that create shared libraries or executable programs.
    We strive to maintain forward binary compatibility, meaning old binaries can be linked into new programs, but there are some issues with C++ compilers older than Studio 7 that can cause compatibility problems when the code is mixed with C++ code from newer compilers. In the worst case, a multi-threaded program can compile and link, but fail at run time, depending on compilation options used with WS6u2. It is safer to rebuild such old binaries using the newer compiler. Binaries created by Studio 7 or later compilers should not have that problem.
    I'm sorry to have to list so many caveats, but continuing to use obsolete software creates its own problems. We bring out new versions and retire old software for good reasons.

  • Issues Compiling using CC on solaris 64 bit

    I am trying to use Wall command along with cc Compiler on Solaris 64 bit but it throws me the error:
    "cc: illegal option -Wall".
    I have been working on gcc for a while and this is my first encounter with cc compiler.
    Please provide the corresponding alternative for Wall on CC
    Thanks in advance
    -SJ

    Well, do you mean cc or CC.
    cc is the sun C compiler. CC is the sun C++ compiler
    -Wall is a gccism. All it does it turn on more compiler warnings.
    So its hardly a critical feature
    if you need to know about cc/CC options then try "man CC" or "man cc"
    You will probably have to add /opt/SUNWspro/man to your manpath first.
    Looking through the CC man page -verbose=diag appears to be the closest equivalent.
    The closest I see in the cc man page is just "-v"
    This is from studio 7. The options may have changed in more recent versions..

  • Compiling with rmic on Solaris

    I tried to compile some of my activatable RMI objects on a Solaris system. Javac goes well, but rmic seems to have problems.
    I always get an error message that "java.rmi.activation.activatable" isn't in my Activatable Object.
    Funny thing is...This code compiles and runs under both windows and linux versions of java 1.2.1.
    Anybody have any ideas?

    This is what I get from the server:
    I type:
    <s975183@hswis> $ rmic -classpath . DataServerImplement
    And I get:
    error: Class java.rmi.activation.Activatable not found in class DataServerImplement.
    1 error
    This is the java version:
    <s975183@hswis> $ java -version
    java version "1.2.1"
    Solaris VM (build Solaris_JDK_1.2.1_04c, native threads, sunwjit)
