Compile Forms & Reports

Hello All,
My Oracle AS (BI & Forms) is installed on Linux box.
I have transfered oracle forms (FMB) & reports (RDF) from windows XP (DS) to Linux (AS).
I wanted to compile FMBs to generate FMX. How ???
Regards,
DN

Well, I'm going to skip the obvious response that you're posting in the wrong forum, or that you should have checked the on-line help, or the product documentations, or even using forum search.
Forms:
f90genm.sh module=$1 Module_Type=$module_type userid=$projekt_user@$2 compile_all=YES batch=YES
module_type is form/menu/library. The latter for pll's
Reports:
rwconverter.sh source=$1 userid=$projekt_user@$2 stype=RDFFILE dtype=REPFILE batch=yes overwrite=yes
Just replace my $-substitue with your data.

Martin

Can we compile forms and reports developed in 9i using the command line rather than opening a form and compiling it. If it possible to compile whole of the .fmb file in a command line.
Any syntax or the documentation on this issue would be very helpful

    Hi Guys,
We are migrating an application from Forms & Reports 6i to Oracle 10g. We have Windows based 10g IDS, Application Server is on HP-UX and Database also on HP-UX. • Compile forms and reports under 9ias

I'd like to know how to compile forms & reports ( which binary to use ) for deploying an application to the web with 9ias
    OS : aix 433
    using 9ias 10210
    thanks

If you want to bring up executables for forms designer, f60desm is located at : $ORACLE_HOME/6iserver/bin. by running ./f60desm to use forms builder.
or if you use 1022, it's in $your_806_home/bin.
You may need to source an environment file for setting the right environment variables.
Is it what you are looking for? Hope this help.

    Hi!
I suppose you will find at '$ORACLE_SERVER/.../bin' a script ended by ".sh" which has enviroment values defined since tour installation. This is useful to do your work. (I don't remember his name, but is the same that executable to compile).

  • Portal Forms / Reports / Dynamic Pages slow to compile

We are running Portal 3.0.9.8.5 and RDBMS 8.1.7.4. Since applying the 30985 patchset we are finding that compiling existing or new applications takes nearly 5 minutes.
The applications themselves run fine - Does anyone have any suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

    Anu,
Generating the form /report/dynamic page is taking 5 plus minutes i.e. making a change -
Once the application is compiled it runs fine.
    Thanks

  • Upgrade from 11i to R12 - Custom Forms,Reports and Workflows

    Dear Community Friends,
We are planning for upgrade from oracle apps 11.5.10.2 to R12.
We have custom Forms,Form Libraries,Reports and Workflows.
Kindly provide me for approach on how to migrate Custom form libraries, reports and Workflows.
I beleive, this thread will exists as one shot point for custom forms, reports, workflow upgradation from 11i to r12 with detailed steps.
I know that many links exists here in the forum for all the above objects mentioned, but still from all those i am able to get a clear picture for oracle forms but not for custom form libraries ,reports and workflows.
Also, this post will provide a low level, practical picture of the steps for those who are in line with this.
Links i have read for all these in our forum are:
    For Custom Forms,
Re: Planning to upgrade from 11i to R12
Re: Custom forms: After upgrading 11i to R12
ofcourse,'n' number of links exists providing metalink notes also.
Hussain,Helios and some others also has given many updates regd this.
    For custom workflow upgradation,
    Upgrade Workflow 11i to R12
    Workflow Upgrade
    Workflow Upgrade
For reports, links mentioned the below metalink notes:
Do Not Compile EBS R12 Reports Using rwconverter.sh or Reports Builder from IDS 10gR2 [ID 786794.1]
Using the OracleAS 10.1.2 Forms and Reports Builders with Oracle Applications Release 12 [ID 444248.1]
Per my understanding, after searching in many threads,i am here by summarising the practical low level steps for custom forms migration
Please correct me,if i am wrong.
    1) Download the Forms(.fmb's) and all PLL's(all the PLL from resource folder in AU_TOP) into a Local Machine Folder
    2) Open the forms using Forms Developer 10G and connect to DB
    3) Compile by clicking compilein Forms Developer and then save it.
    4) Upload the Saved Forms(.fmb's) into the new R12 server(system) in the respective custom paths(paths similar to 11i Server)
    5) Compile all the forms using the command like below(example command is shown below or f60 gen commands or frmcmp.sh utility) in the respective custom form paths,
    this will generate the .fmx's.
    frmcmp_batch module=FORMNAME.fmb userid=apps/apps output_file=FORMNAME.fmx compile_all=yes

    6) Open the form and check in R12 instance
As per my understanding for custom form libraries,we can just copy paste the PLL's from 11i server to R12 server (Please correct me,if i am wrong)
Can anyone please help me out in custom reports and custom workflows.Sorry that,i could not get a practical and clear picture for reports and also for workflow even after referring many threads and metalink notes mentioned.
As for reports, some says that Developer Suite 10g can be used and .rdf can be used in R12.
Some says that reports should be converted to XML published as reports does not exists in R12.
So,i am not clear on this.
    Thanks,
    Ganesh

So,i am not clear on this. You can still use RDF files in R12, and just follow the approach you mentioned above, and you do not have to migrate them to XML publisher (though it is recommended, but this can be done after the upgrade as an enhancement task).
For custom workflow, you need also to do the same thing, open them using workflow builder and make sure they work in R12 (correct the code if required and save them again in R12 once they work properly).

  • Host command in forms/reports

Is there a host command in reports 6i? I used this in forms 6i. When I tried to use in Reports 6i, I received a compile error.
basically all I need to do is to get directory information. This can be easily done in forms using the host command. Is there any built in package or function to achieve this in reports?
    thanks

there is no "host" command in reports 6i (or earlier versions). you might want to consider using forms+reports combination (calling the report from within a form, in which you can execute the host command and do whatever you want to do, then pass the related parameters to the report). I am using this approach to handle some complex end user reporting requirements.
    hope this proves useful

  • How make a OAS Forms & Reports Services10.1.2.0.2 Capacity Planing

Hi, I need to know, Wath considerations or matters I know to make a OAS Forms & Reports Services10.1.2.0.2 Capacity Planing on OEL 5.5 platform? Can you help me?

    Yes, indeed.
We want to change fmx-files in a running installation because the functionality of the forms have to change, errors have to be corrected and so on.
I read the suggestions in Note 286762.1, but honestly I think it is to complicated in a development team to handle with two or more directories and to make clear, which one is the production-directory
I think this could not be the only possibility.
    We thought about this:
    - we have a development directory, a "waiting" directory and a productivity-directory.
    The process could be:
    - compiling in the development directory
    - checking, if the fmx-file is in use (with lsof)
    - if the fmx-file is in use, the fmx-file will be transferred into the "waiting" directory
    - it the fmx-file is not in use, it will be transferred into the productivity-directory
    - in regular intervalls a job has to test, if the files in the "waiting" directory are freed. If so they will be transferred, else not.
Only if changes are needed to do immediately (e.g. heavily errors), the fmx-file can be moved manually in the productivity-directory.
But this is only our idea. I thought there has to be a standard deployment-strategy from Oracle or better ideas from other developers.
Perhaps someone has a even better suggestion for us.
Many thanks in advance for every idea,
    Ralf

  • Oracle forms/reports 6i runtime installation files

I need oracle forms/reports 6i runtime installation files.
Please help me to download runtime installation exe files.
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear Friend,
It is difficult to deploy all forms/reports as well as run-time executable in one click, but very much possible.
You need to invoke the Developer Suite 6i installation atleast twice (One for Forms and Net files, another for Reports).
However, you could bundle your forms/reports files by placing them within DevSuite6i folder and mentioning their path in the inventory file.
If you want a full silent installation in a single click, Use a third party package  compiler and invoke those two installation steps in silent mode

  • Oracle forms & reports support on oracle 10g lite

Currently our oracle forms & reports 6i application works on oracle 8i database with oracle 9i lite.
We upgraded our database to oracle 9i r2 and lite to 10gr2.
After publishing the application when i try to open the application the forms screen disappears for ever.
I wanted to know whether oracle forms and reports 6i is supported on
    oracle 10g lite r2?
    Thanks,
    Ashok Kumar.G

No. Not only it isn't certified, but it is also impossible to run forms compiled with the 11g compiler with the 10g runtime. For 11g there is a install bundle for the developer suite / application server.
    cheers
