Compiled clip (gotoandplay)

well my experience isn't that great with actionscript 1 and 2
- only had 1 year of C++ so hoping someone can help me out with
this problem.
I'm trying to setup a Flash shopping cart which the user can
click on an "add to cart" button (which is a compiled clip) and a
view status movieclip will appear and notify the user there is 1
item added to their shopping cart.
compiled clip = mybutton
mask = Scene1_frame7
in actions layer(frame 1) -
mybutton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
buttonClick.onPress = function(){
gotoAndPlay("Scene1_frame7");
first time posting so i hope i got all the information down
that you need to resolve my problem - spent 2 hours trying to
figure it out and another hour on forums searching..
thanks in advance

Waittaminute, waittaminute. You said that they would decompile the compiled clips to look for problems in code.... but I'm telling you that there is little to no code in these clips and any code used so far is for animation only; they are simple lines in the top layer of each clip. They will work fine if there is only one compiled clip, but will sometimes not work if there are several.
So in essence you're telling me that nobody here knows even one alternative to working with large movies, or clips? Am I to pity this forum or the developers, because that seems a little unreasonable.

• CS3 action script 2.0: compiled clip components do not appear in the component panel

Hi,
I have a FLA file containing 3 compiled clip components.
I use a MXP file to copy this file to the components panel,

• Problem with "Convert to Compiled Clip"

I have a MovieClip symbol called BarGraph, set to Export,
with Linkage Identifier BarGraph, and AS 2.0 Class specified as
BarGraph. The BarGraph class is in BarGraph.as, stored in the same
folder as the .fla file.
When I right-click the symbol in the Library, and select
convert to compiled clip, it places the compiled clip in the
library with the name BarGraph SWF. When I try to run the movie,
this is what shows up in the Output panel:
"**Warning** The linkage identifier 'BarGraph' was already
assigned to the symbol 'BarGraph', and cannot be assigned to the
symbol 'BarGraph SWF', since linkage identifiers must be unique."
I don't see how I can avoid this, since the compiled clip
takes on the MovieClip symbol's linkage identifier, and you cannot
change the linkage identifier for the compiled clip.
Anybody know how to deal with this?

I have the solution:
Before jhs 10.1.3.1:
#if (${JHS.current.item.property2}!='')
${JHS.current.item.property2}
#end
After jhs 10.1.3.2. Example on formTextInput
#if (${JHS.current.item.property2}!='')
#set ($propiedad = ${JHS.current.item.property2.replaceAll(""","\"").replaceAll("<","<").replaceAll(">",">")})
$propiedad
#end

• Compiled Clip vs Live Preview

Hi
Does anybody know how to create a compiled clip that diaplay
when add to the stage. I explaine. The clip I build has an outline
to know the diaplay zone. This outline visible = false at the clip
ADDED event. It means that when I publish the Fla, the outile
desapear. My problem is that when I Compiled it to a Compiled CLip,
when I put it on the stage the ADDED is execute. So I can't view
the outline to position it to the stage.
I tried to used the Component properties and set the live
preview, I put a link to a swf that is exactly the preview of it,
but when ADDED to the stage the preview is jsut a small square of
10 px. Not the real preview in the external swf.
I need to have a Compiled Clip that is visisble on the sateg
and execute the outshape visible to false on publish only
Any Idea

you can preview but movieclips won't play. graphics will.

• Using Compiled Clips

if your app compiles with that component, it will work.

• Anybody can make this simple custom component a complied clip!!!?

Hi,
I have a custom component that has this line of code in the
first frame:
trace(this.Num1 + this.Num2);
where:
Num1:is a Number parameter created via component definition
window
Num2:is a Number parameter created via component definition
window
when I convert this component to a compiled clip it dose not
work because the parameters disappear from the parameter panel and
the component inspector parameters.
I have this trace"
NaN
anybody can make it work!!!!
thanks a lot.

• Importing DVD clips.

First let me get this out of the way. I work at a university and have, through our library, received rights to show commercial films in class (not an exhaustive list, but enough to do the job). For a few years now I've been showing the films and in later classes I would attempt to show small clips for discussion purposes. As a new apple owner I can see how this can be made so much easier. Especially if I were to compile clips in imovie and then export it into a keynote presentation.
But I just can't figure out how to get these films onto my mac. I do understand that, under any other circumstance, this would fall under copyright infringement. But, as mentioned earlier, I already do have permissions to show these films in class.
Any suggestions? I just want to import a commercial dvd into the mac, convert a clip or two into quicktime, stitch them in imovie and finally bring them into a keynote presentation.
Possible? Or is this beyond the capabilities of the mac?
Thanks in advance.

this is a two-step process...:
any advice for getting rid /'override' copy protection/DRM measurements is against ToU on this board..
step 2..
.,.. the usual advice for conversion of DVDs (which IS allowed) is as follows:
DVDs are in a socalled delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and made for any processing as editing...
for using the iLife apps, you have to convert'em first, in recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds:
DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
Apple mpeg2 plugin (19$) + Streamclip (free)
VisualHub (23.32$)
Drop2DV (free)
Cinematize >60$
Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
Toast 6/7/8 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
none of these apps override copyprotection mechanisms as on commercial dvds...

• Downloading / viewing HD video clips

Here is a link to some HD content that I want to downloadload / view onto either our new Intel mini or our Quad:

What software do I need and what sequence is required? At this point I just want to view it and have the ability to view just part of the clip.
As is obvious to all of you I am just getting started in this area
Thanks for the help.

I have a similar question; I'm wondering if anyone can help me
I want to make a video on iMovie; like the thing you'd seen on YouTube; with some compiled clips from TV shows and then just background music
But I'm clueless as to how to download these clips on a Mac!
I want to use clips from the TV show Lost; and I've found a great website that hosts them
The clip I want to download is on this page:
http://lost-media.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=11&min=40 &orderby=titleA&show=10
It downloads smoothly
Then I click to open it on the desktop
and a notice from Quicktime pops up that says
"Error Opening Movie: The movie could not be opened"
How do I open it onto Quicktime?
Please explain [in Idiot language; I'm not very advanced with all these computer terms]
Thanks!

• Tween Max AS3 Not Working on Root of loaded SWF

I have a project where I'm loading a SWF into another Shell SWF and I've run into a strange bug. Tween Max works in the compiled clip everywhere, but on the root of the loaded SWF. It's not erroring out, it's just not tweening anything?
Here's the code for the loader in the Shell...
stop();
//Import the required assets
import flash.display.*;
//Stop the playhead while loading occurs
var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
var url:String = "12com2682-value.swf";
var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
ldr.load(urlReq);
//Create a listener to call the loading function as the movie loads
ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener (ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, PL_LOADING2);
function PL_LOADING2(event:ProgressEvent):void {
loader_txt.visible = true;
var pcent:Number=event.bytesLoaded/event.bytesTotal*100;
//Display the % loaded in textfield
loader_txt.text="loading:"+int(pcent)+"%";
//If the movie is fully loaded, kick to the next frame on the main timeline
//You may wish to change the gotoAndStop(2) to a gotoAndPlay(2)
if(pcent==100){
mc_loadscene.addChild(ldr);
loader_txt.visible = false;
this.loaderInfo.removeEventListener (ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, PL_LOADING);
then in the loaded SWF, I have:
stop();
import com.greensock.TweenMax;
import com.greensock.plugins.*;
TweenPlugin.activate([AutoAlphaPlugin]);
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
//////mc_host is a movieclip holding a video

• Tween or Motion path for blank keynote with animated stars?

I create star particle effect from this tutorial: http://www.schoolofflash.com/2008/03/flash-cs3-particle-effect/ and got help from this discussion: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5518425 in order to get what I wanted. My code is:
var starsArray:Array = new Array();
var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(50);
myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, addStars);
myTimer.start();
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, moveStars);
function addStars(e:TimerEvent):void
var star:Stars = new Stars();
star.x = stage.stageWidth / 2;
star.y = stage.stageHeight / 2;
star.alpha = Math.random() * .8 + .2;
star.scaleX = star.scaleY = Math.random() * .8 + .2;
star.xMovement = Math.random() * 10 - 5;
star.yMovement = Math.random() * 10 - 5;
starsArray.push(star);
addChild(star);
star.cacheAsBitmap = true;
function moveStars(e:Event):void
for each (var star:MovieClip in starsArray)
star.x += star.xMovement;
star.y += star.yMovement;
star.alpha -= .01;
star.scaleX = star.scaleY -= .01;
if (star.scaleX <= 0)
kill(star);
function kill(star:MovieClip):void
starsArray.splice(starsArray.indexOf(star), 1);
removeChild(star);
However, I wanted to move the star particles around. The problem is that the star isn't on the screen, but is called in the actions in the blank keynote. I don't know what I should do next to get the result. I looked up online for tweens and motion paths but all i see is that they required the star to be right on the screen, I think? I also heard something about the compiled clip but I don't know how I should go about creating one and using it to move around the stars while it's animated with all the actionscript. All I wanted is for the star particles to float around the screen (on a path that I can draw out if possible).....

Each star is created in the addStars function. Its position is set in the first two lines:
star.x = stage.stageWidth / 2;
star.y = stage.stageHeight / 2;
So, to move each star to a new location when it appears on the stage, you'll need to change the x and y property values for each star. One simple way to do that is to use that same Math.random() function.
Try changing those first two line to:
star.x = Math.random() * stage.stageWidth;
star.y = Math.random() * stage.stageHeight;

• Problem publishing CS6 file in CC.

Hi,
I have a file that worked perfectly fine in Flash CS6 but after upgrading to Flash CC I'm getting several of these errors:
The frame scripts of the symbol * have been ignored because a compiled clip contains a definition for *. To override the * definition, place a custom class file within your classpath.
This is quite a large project with a lot of code behind files. It's a Flash Builder project with graphics assets being done in a Flash file. Unfortunately I can't upload the file due to the NDA I have signed. I have tries several things to fix this based on searches on the web, including changing to an FLX file format but nothing has worked.
Thanks,
Chris

I don't see any. The first time I opened the file in Flash CC it told me TLF Text wasn't supported anymore and said it changed all instances back to standard text. So the only missing library was the TLF library.
One thing I notice though is this doesn't seem to point anywhere:
$(AppConfig)/ActionScript 3.0/libs
There is are no libraries in the same location as CS 6. This also made my Flash Builder projects that reference the flash.swc file to fail. I ended up copying the folder over from CS 6. Is there supposed to be a configuration under the Common folder? I'm on a Mac, so all of these were in the application package.
Thanks,
Chris

• Need urgent help!!

Hello,
I am very new into flash development. If that is very basic, please forgive me.
I have one .fla project file which runs the multiple videos those are deifined in media.xml. My task is to create similar .fla file which will load some another xml to run another videos.
I have gone through some refrerence manuals but not getting anything direct.
My approach is to see how the xml is loaded in existing .fla and will change the xml name to load the other xml.
Please advice.

• 2 Macs, 1 iMovie Project

Is there a way to copy/migrate the clips n such from one Mac to another? Running the latest iMovie.
I've got a mbp and iMac both from 2010. I've spent most of my time compiling clips from my twins first year on the laptop but it doesn't quite have the graphical juice the desktop has to make sure the transitions are clean.
I know if I right click the event there's a menu that says "Consolidate Event Media" and I'm guessing whatever is consolidated could be sent via Airdrop to the iMac but I don't want to mess up what I've currently got.

Yes. First consolidate media for the event. This ensures that everything is actually in the library and there is no referenced material (links) which won't be found on the other mac. You can then copy the library to another mac (by any means - though airdrop may be rather slow) also running the same latest iMovie and everything should work.
Consolidating media:

Moving items:

The best way of avoiding 'mess ups' is of course to have a backup before you start.

• Simple Tween Component

I have been working on (what should be) a VERY simple
component/compiled
clip. The component will allow for setting actionscripted
tweening for
movie clips. It's so basic that I opted not to even use a
class and it uses
all internal actionscript. The problem is, when I drag it on
the stage as a
movie clip, it works beautifully. But as soon as I export it
as an SWC file
and use it from the Components panel, it doesn't work.
It basically only sets a function to call in order to make an
mc tween. It
uses the mx.transitions for the easing. I've set a trace
action that shows
all the parameters.
When used as a movie clip, it traces the following:
Instance Name: _level0.tc, Tween Type: _x, Ease Type: [type
Function],
Starting: 148, Ending Point: 348, Time: 1
The Ease Type is a variable called "ease" and it's set with
the
mx.transitions (ex: mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeInOut).
This works as
a movie clip.
After I export it as a SWC the it traces the following:
Instance Name: _level0.tc, Tween Type: _x, Ease Type:
undefined, Starting:
148, Ending Point: 348, Time: 1
Ease Type is now "undefined"
Here is the code inside the mc:
stop();
//Importing transitions and easings
import mx.transitions.*;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;
//Begin actions for component
//Loading the transitions
loadTweens = new mx.transitions.Tween();
//Function to assign the actions to the MC
_global[functionName] = function(){
//This is where the problem occurs
//It is set from a paramenter variable called easeType and
based on the
the mx.transitions are set
//If statement to determine the easing of the MC
if(easeType == "Regular.easeIn"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeIn;
}else if(easeType == "Regular.easeOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeOut;
}else if(easeType == "Regular.easeInOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeInOut;
}else if(easeType == "Strong.easeIn"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Strong.easeIn;
}else if(easeType == "Strong.easeOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Strong.easeOut;
}else if(easeType == "Strong.easeInOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Strong.easeInOut;
}else if(easeType == "Back.easeIn"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Back.easeIn;
}else if(easeType == "Back.easeOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Back.easeOut;
}else if(easeType == "Back.easeInOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Back.easeInOut;
}else if(easeType == "Bounce.easeIn"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Bounce.easeIn;
}else if(easeType == "Bounce.easeOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Bounce.easeOut;
}else if(easeType == "Bounce.easeInOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Bounce.easeInOut;
}else if(easeType == "Elastic.easeIn"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Elastic.easeIn;
}else if(easeType == "Elastic.easeOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Elastic.easeOut;
}else if(easeType == "Elastic.easeInOut"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.Elastic.easeInOut;
}else if(easeType == "None"){
ease = mx.transitions.easing.None.easeNone;
//Determines the direction of the tween
if(tweenType == "_x"){
starting = _parent[symbolInstance]._x;
}else if(tweenType == "_y"){
starting = _parent[symbolInstance]._y;
}else if(tweenType == "_xscale"){
starting = _parent[symbolInstance]._xscale;
}else if(tweenType == "_yscale"){
starting = _parent[symbolInstance]._yscale;
//Ending Point of the MC
endingPoint = starting + ending;
trace("Instance Name: "+_parent[symbolInstance]+", Tween
Type: "+
tweenType+", Ease Type: "+ease+", Starting: "+starting+",
Ending Point:
"+endingPoint+", Time: "+time);//time = 2;
trace(easeType);
functionTween = new
mx.transitions.Tween(_parent[symbolInstance],
tweenType, ease, starting, endingPoint, time, true);
Thanks for any help with this.
Scott

I've uploaded the FLA file to my web server. It has the Movie
Clip that I
wish to convert to a component with a sample mc so you can
see how this
works. Test the file and use the buttons or arrow keys to
move the test mc.
You will see that it works great as a movie clip in this FLA.
Bu then, try
converting it to an SWC and converting it to a component. You
will see how
it no longer works after doing so.
Tha location of the FLA is:
http://www.stingerweb.com/tweenComponent/TweenComponentStandalone.fla
Thanks fo any help anyone can provide me with. This isn't a
ground breaking
component so anyone is welcome to use it once we get it
working properly.
Thanks,
Scott
