Compiling a form with Dblink makes Builder close unexpectedly

I got Windows XP, Patch 18 installed and anytime I try to compile a form that uses a DBLINK, as soon as I try compiling the form, my form builder closes to desktop (no error, message, nor anything).
I tried FORMS COMPILER --> Compile ALL and nothing =(
If I put in Comment the dblink instruction the thing works as it should.
Any Idea?

Patch 18 sounds like Forms 6i.
Patch 18 is only certified against E-Business-Suite. Are you working in that environment? Else I think you must go to Patch 17, the last version for nomal development.

We have encountered this problem today. We develop a form module using forms 6i. Within the form module we have a procedure with a cursor which uses database link.When we try to compile the form module the form builder just close immediately.
e.g. I have create a procedure program unit within my form as ivan and a dblink called test:-

Have you checked the log of Forms6i when it crashes.....???
This same problem occurs when you select "Program->Compile PL/SQL->Incremental/All"...??? as well...???? or when for example press the <Ctrl>+<T> combination of buttons...????

Compiling own app with -X02 makes external dll core dump.

Hello,
I have a C++ app that calls a function w/in an external shared library. The external dll does not have debug symbols and is probably optimized. When my app is compiled with -xO2 or higher, I get a core dump (no mapping at the fault address) deep within the external dll. When I am compiling my app with -xO1 or with debug info, I do not get the core dump within the external dll.
My questions are:
1. Does this mean that there is a bug w/in my code or within the external dll's code?
2. If not error in either, is there any way to overcome this core dump without lowering the level of optimization (and thus slowing down the app)

From the symptoms you describe, it is possible that the shared library contains a bug, but it is more likely that the problem is in your code, passing bad data to the shared library.
The problem might be a compiler bug, but I think an error in your code is more likely.
For example, your code as written might have undefined behavior that works by accident when compiling without optimizing, but fails when the compiler improves the runtime code.
Some examples:
1. A classic MT programming error is failing to declare a variable volatile when it is shared by more than one thread. In each thread, the compiler assumes it can remember the value of the variable and not reload it between references.
2. "x = ++x + b;" Modifying a variable twice in an expression withtout sequence points has undefined behavior -- compiler optimization can affect the result.
3." foo(x, x+=3);" the order of evaluation of function arguments is unspecified, so the actual values passed to foo could depend on optimization.
With C++ 5.5, you get some warnings from system headers that you can't do anything about, which I suspect is why you have disabled some warnings. Unfortunately, you might be disabling warnings that you need to see. That is, some of the disabled warnings could point to invalid code that results in the program crash.
I suggest using w instead of w2 (to avoid uninteresting warnings), and fix your code to eliminate the warnings you get.
In the current compiler, C++ 5.7 in Sun Studio 10, we have made some adjustments to warnings to make w and w2 more useful. You should consider upgrading.You can get a 60-day free trial version here:

Failure FRM-32029 while compiling Form with Forms Builder

Hi.
I have problem. I compile a form with Forms Builder from DevSuiteHome and get the failure:
"FRM-32029 Window WINDOW not found; canvas-section CG$LOVCAN" (I translate it, it´s not the original terms).
I google and search the forum and oracle page, but found nothing about this failure. In Forms-Builder itself is also nothing recorded about this problem.
Do someone know more about this error?

The problem is, that I don´t have a documentation about the sourcecode and these forms worked under from 6i to 9i upgraded Oracle AS and DB servers. So the problem is not only "where is the WINDOW", than more "why doesn´t works it under a new 10g version and how get it working?".
That´s why I was searching for this not recorded error.
And I´m worry about that searching for the part of the sourcecode where I found the "WINDOW" is like looking for a needle in a haystack. ;)

The above code executes well with no problem at all!
As you can see the file to which i create and save and open my pdf report is
AssignedDialyzer.pdf.
The column headers of table in pdf report from c# windows forms using iTextSharp are
"Reprocessing Date","Patient Name","Dialyzer(Manufacturer,Size)","No.of Reuse","Verification" and
"DialyzerID".
However the problem i am facing is after execution and opening of document is my
column headers in table in pdf report from
c# and datas in it all appear in bold.
I have browsed through net regarding to solve this problem but with no success.
What i want is my pdf report from c# should be similar to following format which i was able to accomplish in vb6,adodb with MS access using iTextSharp.:

Problem with dblink in Oracle Forms 6i

I hava a problem and i try to compile a form that use a dblink when i start to compile the form the IDE is close and no errors are shown. That someone know what can i do for it ??...
The Dblink is defined like this way:

this part of code is generating the query dinamically, but i can't compile the form, i just need to change the schema for STWBMS.CSI_0_DAY_ONE_GROUP@IMM and also if i remove this part of code that use the dblink the form compile without problem.
The version of mi Bada base is Oracle 9i, but the system (Oracle Form) in my enviroment use Oracle DataBase 8i.

You could try to "hide" the db-link by creating a local view above the dblink-table.

Build a form with xml

I recently was "volunteered" to build a new website for a local non-profit organization. I am fairly descent at building static sites(but brand new to dynamic), and I have run into an issue with a form area on the site. They have 3 training signup pages that are quite lengthy, and need updated regularly. The folks there are not exactly computer-savy so I am worried about them going into Dreamweaver and messing stuff up. I am trying to find a way to give them an easy way to update the form as necessary and save them the expense of hiring someone to update the list as needed. I have been doing some research on xml and spry to see if this would apply to forms. Can xml populate a form, with all needed checkboxes, and other info needed? The current site is build in html, with php form-to-mail attributes.
Ideally I would want the form to auto-delete training dates that have already passed, add an easy admin function to add new content via xml, and retain the form to mail function. Currently there are only like 20 or so items on the form, but there are usually like 100 per form.
I am using DWcs4 so any help, or direction to where I could find help, or even an extension that would work would be GREATLY appreciated.

How to compile forms with JDAPI ?

I have more than 200 forms need to compile. All the forms have libraries, object groups attached, they also call stored procedures in the database.
When I run this code :

Error compiling in forms 6 with a Pentium 4

When I compile in forms 6.0.8.10.3 with my Pentium 4. 50 % of the time, I cannot read the form in web. I use jinit 1.1.7.30. If I recompile my form, it can't be alright or not in web. I don't understand why ? There's a patch for the Pentium 4 and forms 6i ?

How about an error message to make our job a little easier ?? ;o)

Using NetBeans Matisse to build a form with an array of JButtons

With Matisse I can build a form with a lot of buttons on it, but i want to use a 2-dim array of JButtons so that I can easily access the buttons. How should I do this?

Code it by hand. It's not that hard.

I have build a build a tabular form with the wizzard. Wat should I do to make the primary key insertable by the user.
When I change the PK from 'hidden' to 'text field', I get a checksum error when i am trying to insert.

Fred: When you use the tabular form wizard, notice the help text on the right hand side of each page. The help page where you define the type of primary key (Existing trigger, PL/SQL function, existing sequence) clearly states
Tabular forms do not support user entered primary key values
Makes sense when you think about it. The MRU process needs to determine whether to update a record or insert a new record. It does that by comparing the checksums (and/or) pk values from when the page was first rendered and then when you make changes and submit it. Newly inserted rows will have a blank PK/checksum.
If you allow user to change the PK, how will the system know which rows are new and which ones are old?
For example, lets say you have

If the PK were to be editable, user could go in and change the above to
2 red
1 yellow
Now what? Would you like the system to create a new row with 1/yellow or change the existing pk=1 row to yellow? Same with the other row.
Bottom line: The built-in processes dont support this. You can always write your own manual tabular form and implement whatever you logic you wish in your After Submit processes.

There is no built-in date picker available for forms created in Acrobat. There are some third-party solutions involving JavaScript (either a large collection of fields or a custom dialog) though. Also, text fields with date formatting will use a wheel type date picker on Android/iOS devices with Adobe Reader.

You can use LiveCycle Designer's Data Connection to access an SQL data base. Excel can act as an SQL database.

How to build a form with multiple tables in oracle application express

Hi everyone,
I have got problem in building a form with multiple tables.I have a main table with (20) columns and this main table is related to the other tables with the primary key-foreign key relation ship.My requirement is i have to build a form which has fields from many tables and all the fields are related to the main table using (ID) column.In that form if i enter ID field i have to get information from differnt tables.
Please help me to solve this (building a form with mutiple tables)

I am no Apex expert, but with a situation as "complex" as yours, have you thought about creating a VIEW that joins these 7/8 tables, placing an INSTEAD OF trigger on that view to do all the business logic in the database, and base your application on the view?
This is the "thick-database" approach that has been gaining momentum of late. The idea is to put your business logic in the database wherever possible, and let the application (Form, Apex, J2EE, whatever) concentrate on UI issues,
