  • Compiling oracle 6i forms on Oracle Apps Server 10g on Solaris 10 server

    I am tryin to compile oracle 6i forms which are workin on anohter linux server. I have an .env file where $ORACLE_HOME and other parameters are mentioned. Now i;ve been told that there is some display manager service is required on Solaris for these forms to be compiled successfully like Xvfb or something. Can anyone plz tell me how to run this deamon and make sure it;s accessible to forms compilation

    i really don;t know if u have time to go throught all of the details below. But i think this would give you a clear picture of wat i am tryin to do.
    this is the shell script i am using for compiling forms
    #!/usr/bin/ksh
    frmname=$1
    if [ $# -ne 1 ]; then
    echo usage `basename $0` formname_or_first_few_characters
    exit
    fi;
    set -a
    # set this to the location of your IAS environment file
    /export/home/devnew_d/IASDBK_HOME/server/devnew_d.env
    set +a
    CONNECTSTRING="devnew_d/devnew_d@dbklsdev"
    for f in `ls -1 $frmname*.fmb`
    do
    PREFIX=`echo $f | cut -c1-3`
    # if [ "$PREFIX" = "uix" ]; then
    # continue
    #fi
    echo "Compiling $f";
    bfile=`/bin/basename $f '.fmb'`
    frmcmp Userid=${CONNECTSTRING} Module=$f Output_File=${bfile}.fmx Build=yes Window_state=Minimize Batch=yes Compile_all=no upgrade=no
    if [ "$?" != "0" ]; then
    echo ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    echo Error building $f
    echo ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    else
    rm -f ${bfile}.err
    fi
    done
    now when i execute the script this is result i get
    [devnew_d@himalaya]$ compile_forms u
    /export/home/daybreak/bin/compile_forms: /home/devjp10/IASDBK_HOME/server/devjp10.env: not found
    I think the issue lies within the devnew_d.env file, so here is a copy of the .env file

    # - In JDK 1.4.1 the location of libjvm.so is lib/sparc (there is no

    Could someone please guide me as how to resolve this error?
    Thanks in advance,

    The problem was with a few environment variables. Our DBA has changed the convention of f90 and hence the change in environment variables.
    The problem is solved now.

  • Copied an existing Oracle 6i Form and made change and problems when compiling.

    I copied an existing Oracle 6i Form and made numerous changes to the form. The biggest change I made was taking on of the existing data blocks and I renamed it and also removed some of the items within the data block. After the additional changes to the form to make it look like I wanted it to, I tried to compile the form.
    When trying to compile the form I received an error that it could not resolve item reference. The item it is talking about was one within the data block that we renamed and hence after renaming the data block we removed this item.
    I have check via search for sql and plsql code to see if I could find this item it was referencing, no luck.
    Does anyone have and idea of where this item may exist so we can remove it.
    Please let me know.

    Could it be one of the properties on another item that is referencing the missing item? e.g. the Synchronize with Item property.
    Save your form to a text file and do a text search.

  • Size & content of the compiled file from Forms Builder (Oracle Developer 6)

    Hi all.
    Two files resulted from the compilation of the same form are different according to byte-to-byte comparison (security requirements of the customer). What could be the reason of this? Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Igor.

    I doubt you will find any documentation about the content or size.
    I take it you are curious about the size and content in the .fmx file, but there is an even more dramatic difference in size of the .fmb file depending on how it is saved.
    You can read up on it here:
        Re: FMB size shrinks dramatically
    and
        Re: Why does this happen - find ';', replace with ';'?
    You can see the .fmx size balloon if you compile the fmb after doing a semicolon - semicolon replace, IF you don't first save, close, then re-open the fmb file.
    In fact, if you are seeing the fmx size change, it may be related to that problem with the fmb. Here at our site, developers ALWAYS do the semicolon - semicolon replace and save and close without compiling with EVERY form they work on. It guarantees that when the fmb is compiled at the users sites, they get a clean fmx.
    You might, in fact, try comparing two fmx files generated from a "clean" fmb, and see if the two compare the same or different. ( Please let me know! )

  • Calling java code from oracle apps form

    I've created my own java .class file and am attempting to call it from an oracle applications form. I am getting a runtime error while running the form, but I don't know what the error is because nothing is being reported to me.
    I've created the .java file in JDeveloper, compiled it into a .class file, deployed it to a .jar file, and placed it on the application server in a directory that the CLASSPATH can see it. I've added it to the archive parameter of the appsweb.cfg file and see that the .jar file is being downloaded when the JInitiator of Oracle Apps is started.
    I have also imported the .class file into the form via the Program -> Import Java Classes which resulted in PL/SQL package stubs created to call the .class methods.
    When I run the form, the java code is activated on a triggering event, PRE-INSERT. There is no java bean item in a block or on a canvas anywhere. I dont' think I need there to be since I am simply using the java code to perform actions during PRE-INSERT, not to display anything on the canvas.
    I have placed debug messages throughout my code and see that the error is occuring in the PL/SQL packaged stub at the line "JNI.GET_CLASS()" where the parameter to that call is the name of my class. I know it's erroring there because I am handling the "java_error" exception. I am displaying "ora_java.last_error" in the exception handling, but it is null.
    I am at a loss as to determine why I am having problems and how to display an error. Any suggestions? I'm happy to outline my steps and problem in more detail if I have missed something obvious.
    We are using Forms 6.0.8.21.3 with Oracle Apps 11.5.7.
    Shane.

    Shane,
    Don't loose the heart. You have come too close to end.
    The scenario you have mentioned is very unique and something which will fit more in the forms forum. So I think that was a sincere answer to help you and not a "pass the buck" card type game :)
    You are lucky that you got Tapash interested into this issue, otherwise you see there is no OAF component involved out here.
    I have an article promised to some of the guys but will follow this issue.

    Hii Andreas Weiden,
    Sorry for replying late. I am very thankful to Francois and your for your suggestion. I've gone through the documentation of collection and finally i got the solution.
    But I am unable to insert rercord to the table. Values are passed to the procedure, i am able to see the values while debugging and i get the message
    'DATA INSERTED INTO THE TABLE' but when i check it with sql, the table is empty. I've tried commit and standard.commit, but it doesn't works. My modified code is given below.

  • Configure Oracle 10g Forms 9i for XML

    How do I configure Oracle 10g Forms 9i to compile XML code? Is there a particular configuration file I need to update with .jar files that references XML processing or parsing?
    Thanks!

    There is a java utility that can take an XML file that you have generated from an fmb file previously and compile it back to an fmb file.
    Its called frmxml2f.bat. You'll find it in $Oracle_home/bin

  • Which librarys are essential when compiling Oracle 10g OCCI program in CW9?

    I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.6, gcc3.3, CodeWarrior 9.0, and installed XCode1.5 too.
    I had installed Oracle Database 10g Client for Mac OS X fully.
    I'm trying to build the demo of OCCI. I can run the'make -f demo_rdbms.mk occimb1' command
    successfully, and generate a 'occimb1' execution file.
    But when I build 'occimb1' demo with CodeWarrior, the statement 'Environment::createEnvironment()'
    cause a error as below:
    Link Error : undefined:
    '_ZN6oracle4occi11Environment17createEnvironmentERKSsS4_NS1_4ModeEPvPFS6_S6_mEPFS6_S6_S6_
    mEPFvS6_S6_E' (code)
    Referenced from 'main' in occimb1.cpp
    I had already added these lib: libclntsh.dylib.10.1, libocci.dylib.10.1, libnnz10.dylib, libociei.dylib.

    Hi,
    The same issue is faced by me when I was migrating my application from forms6i (oracle 8i) to forms 10g(oracle 10g).
    Solution:
    create a view based on the table on the other database (use db link)
    now create a synonym using this view and make it public.
    use this synonym in your form.
    It looks like something weared but this worked !!
    Try it !!

    Please help me to correct this
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Arniko,
    Thanks .. It worked...
    But I have one more doubt ...
    I saw in a forum that this happens due to :
    The error is a procedure builder error often seen while compilation when multiple forms are opened in a form builder and can be solved by reopening the form builder or open one form at a time and compile... ( This also works )
    Is that something related to any inbuilt procedure with Oracle 10g Forms builder...??Is there any way to correct that?
    Pls help me...
    Thanks in advance,

As a test, install the 32-bit JRE and run the FMw installer again. If it continues past this point - you've got the 32-bit installer and not the 64-bit installer. :)
