Compiling / runtime

Both compiling and runtime areas are presenting problems or rather areas of interest. When compiling an application there appears to be NO PROBLEM ( BY THE WAY THIS IS BEING DONE A WINDOWS MACHINE, FORGIVE ME) And when testing the resulting class on the compiling machine there is no problem, but when that same application is removed from the machine where it was developed and taken to another machine and installed/ copied to that new machine and an attempt is made to run that application ( first from the command line for test purposes then at a later date from the browser) I get the error message(s) stating that all of the classes and packages that were imported other than the Java standard classes and package can not be found. I am aware that I may be doing something wrong during the compling process I'm just not sure where and I must repeat all of standard Java packages work fine. I'm wondering if I must install all of my packages on the new machine as will as setting the CLASSPATH environment variable and placing the classes where they are located on the developemetn machine or amI missing somethng in the compile process like setting a switch ???
Thanks
Bill Farmer

It sounds like it is Classpath related. You need to have all of the classes from the first machine duplicated on the second, along with their directory structure. The directory structure is in reference to the Classpath. That is, the absolute directories do not need to be identical, but the directories relative to the Classpath do need to be identical. You can use the -classpath option to override any Classpath setting on the second machine. The best approach IMHO is to jar the original.

  • How can I compile and run other java classes from within an application?

    Hello there everyone! I really hope that someone can help me. I am writing a program that must be able to compile and run other java classes that are in different files, much like development environments like Kawa or Forte allow you to do.
    There has to be a way of doing this ( I hope!! ), but i can't seem to find it!!
    I have tried using this command to compile:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec ("c:\\programs\\javac className.java");
    ...and this one to run:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec ("c:\\programs\\java className");
    ...but neither works!!! I can compile and run classes that are in the same file as my application, but I can't get it to work at all for files in different directories or files.
    PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help me - i've run out of ideas, and i need this to be working in 3 days!!!
    Thank you very much for any help anyone can give me, I really appreciate it!! Thanks again!!
    Adrian ( ...in distress!! )

    public class JavaCompiler{
       public static void main(String[] args)throws Exception{ //sorry bout the laziness
          if(args == null || args.length != 1){
             System.out.println("Usage: java JavaCompiler MyClass.java");
             System.exit(0);
          String className = args[0];
          Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
          Process p = rt.exec("javac " + className); //consider setting cpath for this
          p.waitFor();
          //now try to run after it is done.
          p = rt.exec("java " + className.substring(0, (className.length() - ".java".length()));
          p.waitFor();
          //do some other stuff
    }This should get you going. You may consider looking into the System.getProperty() method in order to determine the type of OS it is running on in order to findo out what command to run. I know that the sun tool listed above is nice, but by my understanding the sun tools provided are not guaranteed to stay the same. I'm no expert on this matter, but that is one of the reasons there is no API documentation for those tools. Also, I don't believe those tools come packaged with the JRE. (Of course if you are making an IDE it will be expected that the user has an sdk installed. Good luck with figuring this thing out.

  • Redirecting compiler output

    I am new to Java and find the potential enormous.
    I have successfully run the TreeDemo application.
    However, am getting 82 errors with the
    TableTreeExample0.java application and would also like to examine the -verbose output.
    How can the javac compiler error messages be saved for viewing.
    Thanks for any help.

    It wouldn't be that hard to write one in java, by the way...I hacked around for a bit, having problems detecting when javac had terminated, then discovered xhunterx's solution in http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=7&thread=13285 . My version copies the use of SequenceInputStream, but provides output to stdout, where it can be redirected with >, rather than to a window. import java.io.*;
    public class javac2
        static boolean finished = false;
        static boolean fullyFinished = false;
        public static void main(String[] args)
            // Construct command line
            StringBuffer cmd = new StringBuffer();
            cmd.append("javac");
            for (int i = 0; i < args.length; i++)
                cmd.append(' ');
                cmd.append(args);
    // Create a Process to do the compile
    Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process javac = null;
    try
    javac = runtime.exec(cmd.toString());
    catch (IOException ioe)
    // If that failed, quit
    System.exit(-1);
    // Get the standard output and error streams
    InputStream stdout = javac.getInputStream();
    InputStream stderr = javac.getErrorStream();
    // Buffer the standard output and error streams
    SequenceInputStream seq = new SequenceInputStream(stdout, stderr);
    Reader reader = new InputStreamReader(seq);
    BufferedReader buff = new BufferedReader(reader);
    // While they have stuff to write, write it to the real stdout
    try
    String str;
    while ((str = buff.readLine()) != null)
    System.out.println(str);
    catch (IOException ioe)
    // Hope process terminated normally
    }Add a batch file as required so you can type just javac2 rather than java javac2.

    Before this issue we have created new view and done few mappings. Becuase of some other problem we we have deleted view but mappings are not deleted. While building as the mappings are available & view is not exist then it's it's throwing build error.
    Fix:
    We have removed all the mappings related to that view and build again then it's working fine.

  • Getting SPWeb.CurrentUser as null with Windows Authentication (AD), when configured for Claims Authentication

    Hi All,
    We recently migrated to SP 2013 from SP 2010. We are using most of the OOB features, with a few custom code. We have implemented a custom ASP.NET Membership Provider that authenticates against a web service. This was working fine on SP 2010.
    The entire code base was migrated to SP 2013 (with .net fw 4.5, etc) and any issues Compile / Runtime were fixed. However, we are stuck at one bug, which seems to be occuring only while trying to login with Windows Authentication. When a user tries to login
    with Forms Authentication, the error is never noticed.
    Scenrio: Login as Windows Authentiction.
    Result: The user is signed into the system and is authenticated against the AD. For random page loads - it throws access denied (even though he is a site collection admin). While attaching a debugger, we found that, at times the SPWeb.CurrentUser is null (weird).
    At the same time, the HttpContext.Current.Request.IsAuthenticated returns true. Which means the User is Authenticated, but not available in the SPWeb.CurrentUser object.
    Attached are couple of ULS Logs that we found. The line which says IsAuthenticated=True, UserIdentityName=, ClaimsCount=0 is a little disturbing. Can you please let me know what is happening here? I am not able to access the root site (http://win2012d2:1234/)
    however, i am able to access (http://win2012d2:1234/SitePages/Home.aspx) just fine, without any issues.
    Please note, this error is only when the user is logged into sharepoint as a windows user. The forms user faces no such issues.

    Hi Mohamed,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when users login with Windows Authentication.
    From the error message, I recommend to check if the anonymous access is enabled for the web application.
    And please also make sure that the users all are available and have permission to access the site.
    Here is a similar thread for you to take a look:

  • Getting exception using 11G oracle driver

    upgraded oracle database from 10G to 11G, and I made the following changes in my application for 11G:
    - Updated [ORACLE_HOME]/jdbc/lib/ojdbc6.jar to the CLASSPATH
    - Application uses JDK 1.6 (compilation & runtime)
    I started 20 instances of my application on Linux box and half of the application instances failed & threw the following exceptions, but when I used 10G Oracle client jar, all the instances comes up fine. Why is 11G Oracle client jar behaving differently than 10G jar? Why am I able to bring only 10 instances up and not all (20) when i used 11G Oracle jar file?
    Oracle 11G version: 11.1.0.6.0
    Oracle 10G version: 10.2.0.3.0

  • Transferring data to a flat file with a length greater than 255 bytes??

    Is there a way to do this?  At the end of the month, my dataset will reach a length of anywhere between 271 and 335.  Even though I have the transfer field setup with a length of 512, I am only getting 255 characters worth of data when I pull the flat file in from the server.
    Has anyone discovered a way to handle this?  I cannot break the record up into blocks of 255, the Transfer has to be able to handle something greater than a length of 255.
    Many Thanks!

  • For...each...in loop.  Can I make assumptions about the order?

    I've always assumed that I can't make any assumptions about the order in which elements are indexed by a for...each...in loop.  Not even for a conventional indexed array.  (Emphasis!: I'm not talking about associative arrays here, I'm talking about normal indexed arrays.  Dense, no gaps.).
    for each (var element:ElementClass in myArray) {}
    May not traverse the array from first to last.  I've never assumed that it's guaranteed anyway.  Neither does the ECMA standard.  I assume the compiler/runtime is at liberty to index the array in any order, which may even be different each time.
    Whereas... for (var i:int=0;i<myArray.length;i++) {......var element:ElementClass=myArray[i]....}
    ....Is guaranteed to traverse the array from first to last.  So I always use this looping statement if the ordering is important.
    MY QUESTION IS.... In ActionScript 3, Can I just assume that the for..each..in will always traverse a dense indexed array from first to last?
    Actually, my specific case at the moment is where another programmer is passing me an array,assembled within a for...each..in loop.   But I need to assume the order of that array.  If this is always going to work in ActionScript3, then no problem.  Although I'll continue to worry about the ECMA standard for my own code, and wont make assumptions about ordering - but I won't force my anal-retentive programming style on the other guy.

    I did a test on it
    case1:
    var arr:Array = new Array();
    arr[0] = 'a';
    arr[1] = 'b';
    arr[2] = 'c';
    arr[3] = 'd';
    for each(var arrEle:string in arr)
         trace(arrEle);
    always output a,b,c,d
    case2:
    var arr:Array = new Array();
    arr[6] = 'd';
    arr[0] = 'a';
    arr[1] = 'b';
    arr[3] = 'c';
    for each(var arrEle:string in arr)
         trace(arrEle);
    always output a,b,d,c
    so I assume array is created in this way: alloc a memory block for array first, when attaching new element(numeric indexd by i) to array, check if i >= length, put new element in the end of array, else put element at i; so in case 2, array is alloced in this way
    array:{'d'} //6>0
    array:{'a', 'd'} //0<1
    array:{'a', 'b', 'd'} //1<2
    array:{'a', 'b', 'd', 'c'} //3>=3
    disclaimer: totally assumption!!!

    But seriously, if you have a specific (Java related) question, ask it here. Also post the compiler/runtime errors you got, and the code responsible for the errors (not hundred of lines!). When posting code use code-tages as discribed here: http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting

  • MySQL DataSource configuration with JBOSS

    Hi,
    I am using Eclipse with Lomboz and JBOSS as Application Server. I created a CMP Entity Bean and setup my MySQL Database Server including its JDBC Driver. I also configured several files like login-config.xml, standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml, standardjaws.xml, mysql-service.xml, and

  • XML Parse issues when using Network Data Model LOD with Springframework 3

    Hello,
    I am having issues with using using NDM in conjuction with Spring 3. The problem is that there is a dependency on the ConfigManager class in that it has to use Oracle's xml parser from xmlparserv2.jar, and this parser seems to have a history of problems with parsing Spring schemas.
    My setup is as follows:
    Spring Version: 3.0.1
    Oracle: 11GR2 and corresponding spatial libraries
    Note that when using the xerces parser, there is no issue here. It only while using Oracle's specific parser which appears to be hard-coded into the ConfigManager. Spring fortunately offers a workaround, where I can force it to use a specific parser when loading the spring configuration as follows:
    -Djavax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory=com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl But this is an extra deployment task we'd rather not have. Note that this issue has been brought up before in relation to OC4J. See the following link:
    How to change the defaut xmlparser on OC4J Standalone 10.1.3.4 for Spring 3
    My question is, is there any other way to configure LOD where it won't have the dependency on the oracle parser?
    Also, fyi, here is the exception that is occurring as well as the header for my spring file.
    org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionStoreException:

    I ran into this exact issue while trying to get hibernate and spring working with an oracle XMLType column, and found a better solution than to use JVM arguments as you mentioned.
    Why is it happening?
    The xmlparserv2.jar uses the JAR Services API (Service Provider Mechanism) to change the default javax.xml classes used for the SAXParserFactory, DocumentBuilderFactory and TransformerFactory.
    How did it happen?
    The javax.xml.parsers.FactoryFinder looks for custom implementations by checking for, in this order, environment variables, %JAVA_HOME%/lib/jaxp.properties, then for config files under META-INF/services on the classpath, before using the default implementations included with the JDK (com.sun.org.*).
    Inside xmlparserv2.jar exists a META-INF/services directory, which the javax.xml.parsers.FactoryFinder class picks up and uses:
    META-INF/services/javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory (which defines oracle.xml.jaxp.JXDocumentBuilderFactory as the default)
    META-INF/services/javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory (which defines oracle.xml.jaxp.JXSAXParserFactory as the default)
    META-INF/services/javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory (which defines oracle.xml.jaxp.JXSAXTransformerFactory as the default)
    Solution?
    Switch all 3 back, otherwise you'll see weird errors.  javax.xml.parsers.* fix the visible errors, while the javax.xml.transform.* fixes more subtle XML parsing (in my case, with apache commons configuration reading/writing).
    QUICK SOLUTION to solve the application server startup errors:
    JVM Arguments (not great)
    To override the changes made by xmlparserv2.jar, add the following JVM properties to your application server startup arguments.  The java.xml.parsers.FactoryFinder logic will check environment variables first.
    -Djavax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory=com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl -Djavax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory=com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl -Djavax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory=com.sun.org.apache.xalan.internal.xsltc.trax.TransformerFactoryImpl
    However, if you run test cases using @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) or similar, you will still experience the error.
    BETTER SOLUTION to the application server startup errors AND test case errors:
    Option 1: Use JVM arguments for the app server and @BeforeClass statements for your test cases.
    System.setProperty("javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory","com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl");
    System.setProperty("javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory","com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl");
    System.setProperty("javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory","com.sun.org.apache.xalan.internal.xsltc.trax.TransformerFactoryImpl");
    If you have a lot of test cases, this becomes painful.
    Option 2: Create your own Service Provider definition files in the compile/runtime classpath for your project, which will override those included in xmlparserv2.jar.
    In a maven spring project, override the xmlparserv2.jar settings by creating the following files in the %PROJECT_HOME%/src/main/resources directory:
    %PROJECT_HOME%/src/main/resources/META-INF/services/javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory (which defines com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl as the default)
    %PROJECT_HOME%/src/main/resources/META-INF/services/javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory (which defines com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl as the default)
    %PROJECT_HOME%/src/main/resources/META-INF/services/javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory (which defines com.sun.org.apache.xalan.internal.xsltc.trax.TransformerFactoryImpl as the default)
    These files are referenced by both the application server (no JVM arguments required), and solves any unit test issues without requiring any code changes.
    This is a snippet of my longer solution for how to get hibernate and spring to work with an oracle XMLType column, found on stackoverflow.

    please give us any suggestion ,appreciate .

    Won't work - WebUtil uses some Java 1.3 APIs - the IE java compiler / Runtime is stuck down in Java 1.1.4

    What is final method and final class in abap objects.

    Since that doesn't work--or would overyy complex to implement... would be impossible to implement. Once the method-local copy goes out of existence, ipso facto it can never be changed. This is the whole point.I consider it impossible too, but I'm not a language/compiler/runtime expert, so I allowed for the possibility that there could be some way to do it--e.g. local variables that are references in inner classes live on the heap instead of the stack, or something. My point isn't that it's possible, just that if it were somehow to be done, it would by ugly, so we may as well consider it impossible--it just ain't gonna happen.
    we go with the logic, "Okay, we need to copies, but keeping them in sync is a nightmareNo, it is +meaningless.+No, it's not meaningless. If we have the two copies, and they're not final, then after the inner object is created, the method can continue running, and either the method or the inner object could modify its copy. As far as our code knows, it's the same variable, so there'd have to be some way to keep them in sync. That's either impossible or undesirably complex--like the above, it doesn't matter which--so it's final in order to get past the issue of keeping the copies in sync.
