Complaint re: North America sales / service

Adobe doesn't seem to have a place to register a complaint, so I'll just post it here. I'm a US citizen, permanent residence in the US, etc but I'm on sabbatical in Europe for a year. While trying to buy Lightroom, neither the N America or the Europe web stores of Adobe were working properly for me. So, I tried calling N America sales on the phone to explain the situation and make the purchase. Basically, I was transferred around 3 people for 20 minutes. For the most part, I was greeted with suspicion and basically made to feel as if I were engaging in some kind of fraud. I understand their need to protect intellectual property, but I'm a normal person, playing by the rules, trying to buy their product, but just in a slightly unusual situation. In response to questions about what my options were and how to even get the sale to occur, I was basically told "you have to go through the Italian store" (despite having a US address and at least one credit card with a US billing address). Other reasonable questions were greeted gruffly. All told, it took 5 people and two hours to finally make the purchase. What gives?

I can't agree with Lee Jay. My experience buying product direct from Adobe has been extremely good. I even ordered the wrong product ( an Adobe font set) and was able to call back two hours later an get the order cancelled and downloaded the correct font package with no issues.
Doing business in other countries has different licensing restrictions, taxes, duties, and higher business operations cost. Here's a good example:

Adobe US customer service is probably instructed not to accept orders for product being physically shipped to another country.  If you had ordered a Lightroom 3.0 download product using a credit card with a US address, Adobe wouldn't even know you were in Italy.

    The Bank and Paypal states that Adobe needs to process my transaction twice.
    I have no order number/ no status nor contact from Adobe. I called customer service and he transferred me to sales where the phone rang with no answer.

    The only email I have ever comes across for complaints would be [email protected] (it is not mis-spelled).  I don't know if it is still of use.
    Chat is going to be your only option for getting help, and you shouldn't be surprised if they don't offer help due to your product no longer being supported (sad but true).
    If you had not mentioned that you have an email confirming you registered (double-check that) I would have told you that you probably did not purchase thru Adobe and never registered it so they have no record of you owning it.  They do not email serial numbers for disc purchases - they are provided with the discs as you were told in chat.

    If your Powerbook's serial number (do not post it here) starts with "W8" then the vertical lines are mostly likely due to a defect in the display itself. W8 is a factory code and, during the iMac G5 and PowerBook G4 timespan, that factory shipped thousands of units with the same defect. It cannot be fixed via software.
    As all PowerBooks are now classed as "obsolete," an Apple Store will not work on it. They will look at it ands tell you it has vertical lines and that they cannot fix it. This Apple article shows Apple devices they curently considered obsolete:

    It is possible that some Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) will still work on older computes but they cannot get neededparts from Apple. As this issue was so pervassive, it wil be hard for you or an AASP to find a used/pulled display that is not effected with the "W8 Curse."
    Although I love the old PowerBooks, I would not even spent the money for disks, much less the US$150-400 it would cost to replace the display, even should one be available.
    If you give us a rough idea of where you are in the world, we can suggest repair shops specializing in fixing older Mac notebooks, but be aware those resources may be rather scare outside North America.

    I have bought an E75-2 (NAM device) 2 months ago.  I have noticed that I cannot upgrade this phone with the latest ver. 200 firmware, compare to the euro devices.  The E75-2 works, but not perfectly (this device should work better than this!!).
    As Nokia is selling this phone in North America, I would think that any software fixes should be applied to the whole product line, rather than regional only.  Especially the software and fixes are common amongst all E75s.
    Nokia, you have very good product here (the E75).  But you must Get Your Act Together, and provide the service that all Nokia's customers deserved.  Please have all upgrades available to all your customers, as all good customers (not just the ones in Europe and Asia) deserve the best service Nokia can provide.
    Ps. When are we going to receive the Free Navigation GPS software for the E75?

    Something weird is happening to E63 firmware.
    I had v200, skipped v300 (don't know why) installed v400. Then I learned v410 was released, I went to website, to check it with my product code but no updates for me. Later I discovered than v500 was released, ran nokia software updater but latest I found is v410. Great! I updated it and waiting for v500 for North American losers, such I am. Yesterday went to the website to check it with my product code and got info that latest fw for my device is v200. Weird, ha? Just now checked it again and first time saw "Sorry! No software update available for this product code via the Nokia Software Update Tool. ".
    Are they fixing it or they just decided to ditch us all?

    Does anyone in North America need a public delivery of TFIN50/52 - Financial Accounting Academy scheduled in March? The North American Education group has received requests for the FI Academy from a couple customers so I wanted to extend the offer to the entire group. Assuming we get enough interest, I will schedule TFIN50/52 (2 weeks for each class) in Philadelphia, PA in March. The FI academy prepares one for the C_TFIN52_64 certification exam.

  • Has anyone used Navigon North America on a non 3G iPad2?

    Hi, I'm thinking about buying Navigon North America for my iPad2. The iTunes site says "navigation function only available on WiFi+3G". Would I be able to use the maps on a WiFi only iPad?
    I Plan to use it, to have the maps available to me when travelling. I have 3G on my iPad, but may not always have a data plan while I'm travelling (I usually manage with just using the WiFi when available at hotels, etc.). Thanks for any information or tips anyone can provide.

    Yes, it will work.
    When you buy a WiFi-only iPad, it only supports WiFi networks. It doesn't have the hardware to listen to 3G or GPS signals.
    When you buy a WiFi+3G-based iPad it also has a bluetooth transciever and a GPS reciever, so it can also detect 3G and GPS signals.
    That doesn't mean you need 3G service to use GPS, just that the GPS is bundled with the 3G card.
    Note that if you do have 3G service location services can be enhanced thanks to A-GPS. This uses a combination of 3G and GPS signals to speed up location detection, especially in poor GPS signal areas such as heavily built-up areas. It's not generally worth paying for 3G service just to get this advantage, though.

  • Horrible after sales service in India

    Lenovo's after sales service is the worst I have ever experienced across all product/ service categories.
    I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Z580 laptop 10 months ago. I was offered a free 3 year warranty upgrade as per Lenovo's "Do Shield" promotion. This was one of the reasons I chose Lenovo over other brands (A decision I’ve come to deeply regret). I had no clue their ‘warranty’ was actually a cruel joke on unsuspecting customers.
    In May 2013, one of the hinges connecting the LCD screen to the laptop body broke. I went ahead and registered a complaint with Lenovo tech support on 20th May 2013. I was told that the problem would be attended to within 48 hours. I waited for one whole week and got no response from Lenovo. On following up with Lenovo service,  I was informed that it will take one more month since the parts are not available in India and have to be sourced from China. After following up numerous times, the problem was fixed on June 13, 2013 - 23 days after my service request was registered.
    This turned out to be just the beginning of my woes with Lenovo. Within a week of this repair job, my screen started flickering eventually going completely blank white. I registered another complaint with Lenovo tech support on July 2, 2013 and was again told that I will get a response within 48 hrs. Just like the previous occasion, I waited for one week and got no response. On following up with tech support I was given the same old answer that the part has to be sourced from China and can take up to 45 days. However, I was assured that my case would be taken up on priority and resolved by 31st July. That deadline too lapsed and the same story was repeated on following up on at least 4 more occasions. As of today, 50 days after my complaint was registered, it still remains unresolved.
    I am truly amazed that any company can get by with this level of apathy towards customers. Anybody in the market for a laptop and considering Lenovo – You’ve been warned!

  • After Sales Service of HP - leading to garbage

    I have purchased a Laptop in Feb,2013 and suddenly, it stopped working. I have louge complaint against it by more than 18 days. They are still solving it but no initiative from their side. I am continuously follow them but customer care put my call on hold for more than 30 mins and after that they cut my call. It has happned twice in a day. As we are professional and required informations from my laptop urgently, they are taking it very lightly. If they dnt want to give after sales service then specify clearly at the time of sales. Company doesnt have value to money time and customer's urgency.
    We will never suggest any one to buy hp. Just disgusting and so rude personnel.
    They are useless. Service is pathetic. Company doesnt have stock of parts also. They are taking 20 days time to convey message that parts will come. but they never say when will engineer will come and repair it.
    Secondly, They told me to call engineer directly and request him to come on sight. Wow, Now customers has to trace engineers also. Isnt it their duty to send engineers on sight and on time????
    How pathetically you guys are running your company...!!!!!!

    HI, i think 2 possible ways are there.
    1. Post the difference amount to service tax G/L Dr & vendor CR throgh FI JV posting and do vendor payment. or
    2. create Credit memo for privious miro and Cancel the Previous service entry sheet and do the fresh SES & MIRO after changing the values in PO.

  • Colour Profile issues between North America and Europe

    I have a corporate colour, C80M80Y0K0 which creates a very attractive shade of purple. Within North America all printouts demonstrate very similar variations of that purple colour. We have an office in UK that uses the same collateral pieces. While they preview correctly on screen, they are unable to reproduce that purple in their office or with their professional suppliers (all digital processes). The resultant colour is blue (approx C92M68Y18K0).
    The files are created in Indesign, using a process colour within Indesign, and then exported to a PDF and shared with the UK office.
    My guess is that it is a colour profile issue - has anyone else had this same issue, and if it is indeed a colour profile issue, what profile would you recommend using? I've tried using some of the other default profiles within Indesign but with no luck.
    Any assistance would be really appreciated.

    What preset are you using for the Export, or what are the Output settings? Have you tried PDF/X?
    PDF/X-4 will leave color unchanged and profile everything, so a color change like you are describing most likely means the wrong output profile is being used in the UK.
    PDF/X-1a forces everything into your doc's CMYK space and makes conversions at output less likely—with X-1a your 80|80|0|0 mix will probably be output unchanged.

    I live in the UK, but thinking about buying an unlocked iPhone 6 in an Apple Store when I'm in Canada next week. I've seen a lot of discussions around compatibility and antenna issues for 4G when using a phone bought in North America in Europe, but many people say it shouldn't be an issue at all. I'm using Giffgaff, which is part of O2's network.
    Can anyone give a clear answer to whether there will be any issues with using the iPhone 6 in the UK??

    if you buy an unlocked iPhone in Canada it should work with a supported carrier in the UK - whether LTE works will depend on the LTE frequencies used by carriers in the UK and whether those frequencies are in the Canadian iPhone
    you must buy it unlocked - i dont know if they sell carrier subsidized phones in Canada but if you were to buy one of those it would be locked to the Canadian carrier and phone calls made in the UK would be charged at roaming rates
    One important thing to be aware of is the iPhone warranty is no international - its only valid in the country where the iPhone was purchased ( the EU is considered 1 country for warranty purposes) - so if you needed a repair you would have to take or send the Iphone back to Canada - also Apple will only return the repaired iPhone to a Canadian address
