Complaint re: repair. I have emailed my complaint ...

this is a reiteration of the complaint I emailed to BT. I haven't had so much as an acknowledgement!
We had ongoing issues with our youview box for weeks, we tried unsuccessfully to resolve them so I resigned myself to contacting BT. I arranged an appointment via web chat. I should explain at this point that I specifically booked the time so that I'd be at home; my wife is disabled and also has a mental health condition that would not allow her to deal effectively with a visit by a stranger. I explained all this on web chat when booking.
So, I arrived home to find that the engineer had already been and gone - over an hour before the appointment time. I was not notified of this by BT.
That's the first point.
Next, the engineer simply breezed in and without even asking or discussing anything with my wife he immediately went to the box and selected factory reset with delete everything!
All our recordings, some of which were of great sentimental value, were gone!! One of the recorded sets was of the 2013 Glastonbury Festival that we attended, there was even an identifiable shot of us in the crowd.
My wife saw what he was doing seconds too late to stop him at which point she had a dicky fit at him. He merely shrugged and said that was all he could do to fix it. He was extremely rude and insensitive.
Had we been told that this was his intended course of action we wouldn't have allowed it. We'd have preferred to have bought a new box outright.. The box was perfectly usable but would sometimes freeze so that we'd have to power cycle it to get it to turn on. We'd have put up with this to preserve the recordings. Had I been there as arranged I'd have been watching him like a hawk to ensure he didn't do what he did.
I sent a strong complaint to BT by email from my BT account asking what they intended to do about this, I've heard nothing, not even an acknowledgement!
I have also subsequently spoken to BT by phone and was assured by the lady I spoke to that it would be chased up. - nothing!
So, let's see if this post gets any response from BT???

Ectophile & jam2000, you are both entirely missing the point and effectively being apologists for BT.
Whether or not it is technically unlawful to keep recordings beyond a certain time frame is totally and utterly irrelevant!
1. It is not for BT / BT's agents to decide what I can and cannot keep.
2. It is not for a BT agent to unilaterally decide to totally ignore my request for a specific appointment time for valid reasons that were explained when I booked the appointment.
3. It is totally out of order to ignore the appointment time without even having the courtesy to contact be beforehand to *ASK* me if I'd be ok with that.
4. Before irrevocably deleting my personal data (irrespective of whether I hold a lawful right of ownership), even if, which I don't believe, it was the only way to fix the problem I (the account holder) who actually pays this excuse of a company good money should have been *ASKED*! There are potential legal ramifications against BT for destroying personal property.
5 to then be rude and discourteous to a disabled and Ill person is completely and utterly beyond the pale.
I am an IT professional, a manager, I have reset the you view box on several previous occasions *WITHOUT* deleting any recordings and this has always caused the box to behave for a limited period of time. I am now waiting for the box to fall over again so that I can further demonstrate the futility of this "repair".
6. Then for BT to totally ignore my complaint, not even issuing an acknowledgement, only further compounds the situation.
I fully intend to pursue this matter as far as possible.
As an aside, and this is simply retribution on my part, I freely admit, today I had two guys from BT in the conference room at work today. They're trying to sell me many, many thousands of pounds worth of goods and services relating to my company's major expansion plans. They think they left with a good shout of getting the business; they couldn't be more wrong. BT has precisely zero chance of ever getting any more business from my company whilst I'm working there. Petty I know but there we are. What's good for the goose...

    In NY verizon is a little afraid
    New Yorks Attorney Generals have nailed them for millions. Additionally the States Consumer Protection Board has authority over them, as well I have read in addition to the NYS Public Service Commission. But by different actions of authority.
    So sometimes a local complaint is far superior to Federal complaints. There is always a private right of action and verizon wireless does lose quite a few of those actions. The NYS Register can attest to that.
    But in fairness be pretty accurate in what you are asking for since a court or regulatory agency requires absolute truthful facts. You would need names, places, dates, remedy sought. Documents and telephone logs. Since the burden of proof lies with the filer not verizon wireless.

    I have read multiple posts on how to do this and I am still confused.
    Apple ID/ICoud:
    We want to be able to monitor what they do, but do not want their devices linked to our emails/contacts/etc...  Each kid has their own email account.  So, from what I have read the best way to do this is to use our family Apple ID, but set them up with a separate iCloud account?  Is this correct?
    Reset/Restore/DFU:
    To start fresh we have done multiple factory resets.  I did one that someone said was a DFU and a plan ol' factory reset, etc...  Not sure the difference.  However, when I do that I get the "hello" screen and am able to start setting the phone up anew.  However, when I go to set the phone up as an iPod I end with the same result.
    So, here is what I am doing (tell me what I am doing wrong):
    Hello Screen
    Asks me to select language and selecting:  English
    Select Your Country or Region:  United States
    Choose a Wi-Fi Network:  select my home wi-fi network
    Enter password:  entered my home wi-fi network password
    Activiate iPhone - wants me to enter Apple ID and Passwordsays that this iphone is currently linked to an Apple ID (k*******@gmail.com).  Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone.
    Location Services - I have enabled location services
    Set Up iPhone
    Set Up as New iPhone
    Apple ID
    Options are to sign in with your Apple ID or Create a Free Apple ID
    Or I could "skip this step"
    I signed in with my Apple ID
    Terms and Conditions - Agree
    iCloud - I can select either to use iCloud or Don't Use iCloud - I selected use iCloud
    Find My iPhone - I can select either to use find my iPhone or to not - I selected use find my iphone
    Once I do this it says iMessage and FaceTime and shows the following:
    my email
    my other child's cell phone number
    and my husband's work phone number
    This is where things do not make sense.  I only want the phone set up with the current child's email address.  Where did I go wrong?

    There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
    Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
    iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
    For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.
    All she needs is a valid e-mail address, apply Apple ID below:

    I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

    By the sounds of it you have linked Email Accounts, if so this means that you will both recieve the majority of the same Emails, and if you do and you read them on your account (which is linked with your husbands) then they will appear to read on the both of them because they are linked. With the majority of Email providers these days they're Emails are (simplified) in the cloud you could say, meaning that if you read or delete shared Emails then it will do the same on both accounts rather than just the yours.

I have email working again on the iPhone 3G by creating a new iCloud account but it only has email unlike with the older account that was on MobileMe which had the option to turn ON the Contact, Calendar, etc. How can I add those options again on the new iCloud account I have on this iPhone? If I can have those options again maybe I can sync the contacts to the latest iTunes running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 so later my contacts and everything could be synced onto a new iPhone 5- it's sad and it makes it very difficult or impossible that Apple just left the older iPhones without no way of syncing it's contacts and other things form the iPhone 3G (It runs the latest firmware limited to this iPhone).

    To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

    Hi Eric,
    Your recipients can use the free Adobe Reader mobile app for iOS or Android to fill out PDF forms via their smart phones. They can download the Reader mobile app from Features | Adobe Reader mobile app. Then, when they receive an email from you with your form attached, they can open it directly from the email client into the Reader mobile app and fill it out. Easy!

    You select the printer properties and set the appropriate page size (I think there is a place to set it in PDF Maker too, but not sure). In the printer, this is equivalent to putting the proper paper in the printer.

    I am using MobileMe. Don't know what is causing the problem but I have had this problem a few times.
    I have resolved it but turning off and on my iphone (rebooting). As soon as my iPhone restarts the new email appears.

    Add me to this list.. I use gmail with SMTP and I get messages that are clearly on the server via a computer log in. On the phone, they show up as a message but with no content, a very odd date and most strangely of all, are not deletable/archivable. I.e. when you press edit they do not get a circle next to them and are unselectable... very odd. If I turn off mail and restart its fixed. Mail in this case is real, just not downloaded or some odd network error killing it on the phone, they are fine through safari on a computer. my 3G never did this even once, so its got to be iOS4. Just a report hoping apple will see this and put on bug list. Its annoying to be sure but happens some what rarely, but enough that I know its going on.

    How much $$ do you care to spend to transfer the data on the LC's 40 or 80 MB hard drive?  The original LC is now 21 years-old and has little if any market value (I know - I have an LC I and an LC III), so professional repair will easily exceed that.  It's considered "obsolete" by Apple's authorized repair shops, so parts are not available.  Was it starting up normally before it stopped working, and if so, were the date & time always correct after it had been disconnected from an electrical outlet?  If not and if startups have been hit or miss for a while, your LC undoubtedly needs a new PRAM battery installed.  It's a 3.6-volt ½AA lithium battery and is installed in a black plastic holder w/retainer cover clipped over it on the LC's motherboard.  The battery can be purchased at battery specialty retailers for about $8 or less, as well as from a number of online merchants.  If you don't mind paying 2-3 times the value of the battery, Radio Shack carries it.  If you need directions for installing the battery, post back.  It's the least expensive thing to try and a new battery has brought many a dead Mac back from the dead.  As for the internal hard drive, it could be removed and installed in a slightly newer, pre-G3 Power Mac having an internal SCSI bus.  If there are any thrift stores in your area, you might find a suitable Mac for this purpose.  This would involve removal of the hard drive from the LC and installation in the newer Mac, with a slight change in the LC's SCSI address jumper placement.  Once installed in the newer Mac, the files could be copied.  If this is more challenging than you planned on, you might check your area for a Mac User Group, where you might be able to take your LC and have someone transfer the files for you.  After the files have been transferred to another medium, you may have problems trying to open them on a newer Mac running a newer OS version than the LC's (System 7.0, 7.1, 7.5.x, or 7.6), if the programs aren't compatible.

    I went into my superb nokia repair centre this morning as I had ghosting on my new nokia screen despite only having the phone for a week (i say they are superb cos they also fixed the other day my gps and also lense cover without hassle and only 1hr waiting) when i had a chat with them they said they would replace the screen and also update my firmware ... when i got my phone back and set it up after the hard reset it was a different start up (i had horrendous problems with my firmware before even though id sorted the space problem out on c drive it kept sticking and doing strange things, wifi dropping and spotify not downloading) after nokia have sorted it for me the software is fast, stable and ive had no problems at all despite playing around with it all afternoon .... the screen is superb also ..... question is im on 3 uk who drag their **bleep** in authorising release however do my local repair centre have a different firmware than is on the updater ??? i thought that the firmware had been upgraded as it was fast and stable and didnt check until just now the firmware is the same 20.0.019 im confused i know how to update the firmware and also know all the tweaks but i couldnt get it as stable ..... also the chap said to make sure i bring the phone in when 3 release the firmware and let them update it ...... 
    if you want a superb repair centre go to car phone warehouse near the trafford centre .... (not the ones inside) 

    If Nokia will not touch it then i would send it back to Expansys for a replacement, if you only had it 3 days before going faulty i would demand a replacement. This is a prime example of you get what you pay for, too many people are shopping all over the world, demanding cheeper prices from box shifters like Expansys. When things go wrong nobody wants to know.

    Weird.
    Someone might stop by who has experienced/fixed/read about this before.  In the meantime...
    By "re-indexed my email" do you mean you rebuilt the mailbox via the "Rebuild" command in the Mailbox menu?  Did you try that for all the affected mailboxes?
    Also, you might try experimenting with the settings in Mail, Preferences, Accounts having to do with whether junk mail messages are stored on the server and whether they are to be deleted.
    Does this behavior persist when you are not connected to the internet?
