Completing Task from other process

Hi,
I need to complete a Task assigned to User queue from other process. For example,
I have a Workflow A which creates task and assigns it to user "xyz", this task can be completed in two ways,
       1) User xyz logs on to workspace and completes the task, normal straight forward way.
       2) A scanned document (.pdf) is copied to Watched Folder which kicks of another Workflow B, now this workflow B needs to complete the
task which is currently assigned to user "xyz".  Any idea how?
   I need your help/advice on option 2.
Thanks,
Vik

There are many Administrator roles available ; e.g Process Administrator/Forms Administrator etc.
But did you try with Super Administrator account?
If still not working, as a quick solution you can claim the task to your account and complete the Task.
Please note that this will be recorded and your account name will appear on tracking.

  • Invoke task from another process defnition - Is this possible

Is this possible to invoke task from another process defnition?
    PD1 has task1
    PD2 has task2
    call PD1.task1 from PD2.task2
If possible, then what API method should I use.
    Thank you!

You would start by using the findObjects API to find all the objects for a specifc user. Then you would want to find the appropriate one from the result set. Then once you find this, you will need to either query the database or use apis to find the task key for the specific task name you want for that process definition. Once you have the process instance key and the task instance key for that user, you can then use the api to insert task into the users process instance.
Not sure all the APIs to use, but in the end you'll use addProcessTaskInstance found in the tcProvisioningOperationsIntf. You can search the forums for that API and examples of it's usage.

  • MS Project 2003 Pro - Link task from other Project files

Starting yesterday I wanted to find a way to link a task in one Project File to a task in another Project File. The idea being I have a Site Development Project File, and wanted a certain task in that schedule to drive tasks in individual House Development
Project Files so we wouldn't need to use one large cumbersome Project File for the entire Development. So like other users I've read about I tried copy task and paste special into an existing task cell, a predecessor of other tasks, which of course resulted
in the "OLE Paste operation cannot be completed" error. So as a test I saved two Project files, Project1 and Project2. I then tried to "Paste Special" into a "New Task" row, which was instead empty and found that would work without
the OLE error, except the linked task's Predecessor copied with the linked task so it's predecessor was now that numbered task within Project2 which I didn't want. So looking at Project1 since I set them both up as one parent task with five subtasks for simplicity,
I copied the parent task from Project1 (no predecessor) into a blank Insert / New Task row in Project2, then made the linked task a predecessor to the next task below and voila! Viewing the two Project Files in Window / Arrange All, when the duration of one
of the Subtasks in Project1 is adjusted, it drives the overall duration in Project2 just like I wanted. So while most of you may already know this trick, as I could not find much information on doing this (somewhere they suggested "Insert Project",
which did work but was not what I wanted), I thought I'd still share this in case it helps someone else. You just need to copy a parent task with no predecessor, paste special into a blank New Task row then make that the appropriate predecessor in the pasted
    Project File. Cool!

    J.L.Fitzpatrick,
I second the strong caution on the use of paste links in Project as indicated by Guillaume. It is the same as playing with fire and it sounds like you already got burned. Paste links do work but they are NOT for the casual user and their use requires the
upmost in file creation expertise and file management discipline.
Let me highlight a couple of things I think I understood in your description. First, it sounds like you were paste linking the whole task link. Paste links on individual field cells are tenuous enough but doing a whole line will only result in disaster.
Second, it sounds like you were trying to paste link into a summary line. That is equally a really bad idea. With that construct I can virtually guarantee file corruption.
I can understand why Insert Project did not meet your needs. You are trying to link a single task in one file with another. That is achieved with a cross-project link (i.e. external predecessor/successor). Insert Project is exactly what it says, the WHOLE
project is inserted, not just a single task. So Insert Project and cross-project links are NOT the same thing.
Bottom line. What you want is a single cross-project link. Even then you still open the door to potential file corruption. Once you have that link established, never move, rename, or save to a different location. Ideally both files should be in the same
folder on a local drive, not on a shared network.

  • Help - How To Filter Out Completed Tasks from Remember

I am a new user to Blackberry Classic OS 10.3.2. When I view tasks in the Remember app I would like to filter out or hide the tasks that are completed. The completed tasks currently still appear in the list and are crossed out but are cluttering up my list. Note that my tasks are synched to Outlook 2010. I have a long list of tasks and unless I can hide the completed tasks, the Remember app is not feasible. The sorting does not help as there is no way to sort all the incomplete to the top of the list. Thanks - hopefully someone knows a way around this!

    Hi Manuel,
You should enclose the part you don't want to be checked...
    eg.
    REPORT zreport.
SET EXTENDED CHECK OFF.  "To deactivate extended checks
    INCLUDE (standard include 1).
    INCLUDE (standard include 2).
SET EXTENDED CHECK ON.  "To reactivate extended checks
    START-OF-SELECTION.
    Kr,
    Manu.

  • Can administrator roll back a task from the process?

If I have a process deploy to the weblogic, can the weblogic admin or some account can roll back the process from one task to the previous.
    Thank you for advise.

Administrators can reassign tasks, but they currently can't (in 11.1.1.4) move process token(s) backward/forward to a different activity (including human tasks). That capability, known as "grab", is planned for an upcoming release.

  • Workflow does not complete task in other languages

    Hi,
I created an approval workflow on Sharepoint Designer 2013 set as Sharepoint Workflow 2013.
It worked fine untill some of our approvers came to find out that using other languanges as primary option on Internet Explorer the workflow stops. It does not cancel it, but does not mark the task as completed automatically as it does for the computers set
as English as primary language, therefore, the workflow stops until a manual completion of the task.
On the microsoft site I checked that Workflow Manager has the same files in any language.
I even found a Cumulative Update for Workflow Manager and it cames with a fix on languages. Question is: why there are no languages on the first installation?
These are the download center links:
     Workflow Manager 1.0
Cumulative Update for Workflow Manager 1.0

I have figured out what's the cause of the problem.
There has been no changes in the agent assignment, so, SWU_OBUF is not needed.
The workflow hangs and states that there is no agent for the step in Ready status because the workflow was deactivated after the Release step.  I think this has been deactivated by the system because there were errors that occured (perhaps in the container bindings).
The workflow template I used, together with the tasks, were copied from the standard template WS20000075.
Are there any procedure to just easily check the bindings?
    Thanks.

  • Can't Clear Completed Tasks from Outlook Today

Normally, on the Outlook (2003) Today screen, tasks that are marked completed are shown in grey strikeout until the next day when they fall off the screen. Only current and overdue tasks are shown.  When I mark a task completed on my Blackberry, the task is marked completed on Outlook and is grayed out on the Outlook Today screen, but it still appears as completed the following day. It never falls off of the list (even though it is marked as completed).  It doesn't make a difference where the task is created (Outlook or Blackberry). Any advice to solve this problem?

  • Completed Task cannot be launched again from the UWL.

    Here is the situation.
The identified agent clicked the task in the UWL.
Task was launched in a new window and opened an ABAP webdynpro application correctly.
Agent then approved the task using the approve button in the application. Task was thus completed.
Now the agent pulled the "Completed Tasks" from the Show dropdown on the Tasks tab in the UWL.
The task which the agent approved earlier showed up.
But when the agent clicked this link in the UWL. The application would not be launched again.
The task preview does appear but the agent wants to the same application form displayed again to confirm what they have approved.
Any ideas how this can be done. I remember we could do that in the PCR application on ISR framework.
Edited by: Linkin Pereira on Dec 5, 2008 7:12 PM

I did some investgation and figured out that there is no standard way to invoke an already completed Task. Therefore for our requirement I have proposed a new solution.
I am storing the Workitem Id, when the task gets created, in a custom table along with all the data which is necessary for the I-View display.
To enable users to open the I-View of the task they already completed and take a print out of the I-View etc, I have designed another application. and in this application I am using the Workitem Id to read which completed task they want to view.
See if this works for you.

  • Task manager show process from all user

    Hi All,
    Need a help.
I need to enable "task manager show all show process" for all normal users(view like XP) irrespective of admin or not.
Can any one help me how to go about this through GPO. I searched a lot in net but could not found any convincing solution for this.

This is not possible. User processes are isolated from each other. Only administrators can retrieve information about processes from other users. Either make your users local admin, or tell them this is not possible.
This is because of the security design which isolates users from other processes (service processes and other users' processes)
there are many things that don't work anymore. For example, on XP it was possible to give service applications a user interface (for example for disgnostic or development purposes). From Vista onwards this is no longer possible because allowing users to
interact with service applications is a security risk.
There are many such changes, and you have to update your processes accordingly.

  • Trigger a process chain(PC) after successfull completion of two other PCs

    Hi All,
My requirement is to trigger a Process Chain only after successfull completion of two other process chain which are already scheduled to run at different times.
Please tell me how to achieve this into SAP-BW 3.5
    Thanks
    Jharna

    Hi
It is very simple, I'm doing the same.
Insert Remote Process Chain at the end of the actual process chain and call the other process chain, here you need to give source , destination and process chain name in Remote process chain.
    try it, it will work.
    Thanks

  • PCW call custom task after approval process

    Hi comunity,
I need to know how could call a custom task from PCW. Because I need to update a Z log table after the users approval SC just when the document is set to approved. I've checked the WS40000015, but seem to me that this is not possible.
I have no other option to use the BBP_DOC_CHECK_BADI to do so? Am i right?.
    Regards.

    Rick, thanks for your answer.
I didn't explain myself right with Z table. This is a relationship that required my customer between different entities (SC guid and one external number ID from a Non SAP SRM system and other fields).
I agree that maybe the business requirement could be revised. But the core question it's the same, is not posible call a custom task from the process level, because seems to be limited to decision tasks. I don't get why SAP does not create a condition step in WS40000015 which allow us to call custom background tasks.
I will use the BADI, hoping to get the SC when it's already approved.
    Regards.

  • BB desktop deletes completed tasks on the handheld?

It does this when I have marked them as completed in Outlook 2003.  I would prefer to keep them on the handheld and just hide them as completed tasks.  Can I do this and what setting do I adjust?  It appears to only be deleting them from the handheld; not Outlook. At least that is what it says in the 'Details for Confirm Tasks Edits dialog box.'
I have Conflicts set to Notify, but it doesn't tell me it is going to delete these completed tasks from the handheld until I am in the 'Confirm Tasks Edits' and 'Details for Confirm Tasks Edits dialog box.'

Oh ok, I thought you were on a BES and the tasks synced wirelessly. So you're syncing through Desktop Manager then...
Well I just tried a wired sync. My completed tasks transfer over fine.  When you go to the Task synchronization settings in the Desktop Manager, it is set to sync with Outlook with a Two-way sync and also to transfer all items?

  • Request: Stop synchronizing completed tasks

I want an option to not sync completed Outlook tasks in Ovi Suite, only the open ones.

I just got my Nokia phone and have discovered the same problem. Even though ask it to only sync +/- 1 month I still get a massive list of completed tasks from over a year ago. Does Nokia have a fix for this???
