I have been having consistent kernel panics of different varieties.
There is NOTHING Im using other than an external USB keyboard.
I've got an mbp with 8 gb of RAM - and it's hard crashing very regularly now.  OSX 10.8 has been a total disaster - have gone from a solid machine to one that's now got issues w/ MSFT Office apps, regular crashes, sleep problems.
I keep "reporting" my crashes, but it would be good to hear something back.
My latest is similar the the above.

  • Computer keeps on crashing when i run at 2100+

I own a MSI MOBO. I think it's the KTUltra  (6380). I need to change the FSB to 133 instead of 100 in bios to run my athlon xp at 2100 but everytime i do that eventually my computer restarts. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how I might be able to fix this? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Flash content hard crashes computer, no matter what I do

I have gone to the end of the earth to find a solution to this problem and I cannot figure it out.
    I've tried older video drivers(nvidia, gtx460), I've tried newest, a little older.
I've tried as many different versions of Flash player I could find
Both combinations of flash player and video driver have been interchanged with more combinations than a Yahtzee dice game.
Computer build is less than a year old.
This crash was happening for a couple weeks very intermittently, then it got worse, then one of the lockups CAUSED BY FLASH to caused my operating system to become corrupt. THEN, even after a full format and reinstall, FLASH STILL CRASHED MY COMPUTER.
Every single piece of computer hardware has been stress tested and temperature monitored.
New PSU was installed (corsair hx750)
    Tried a different Graphics card.
Nothing. And I mean NOTHING. Stops my computer from hard crashing from flash content(videos mostly).
It causes either a complete powerdown INSTANTLY, then my computer restarts. OR the other crash it does is complete LOCKUP with a horrible sounding static sound loop.
    Please help!

All I can really say about that is that you're the only person I'm seeing complaining of these systems.  With 1.2 billion users, we'd be hearing about it if Flash was somehow magically able to cause this through normal operation (it's not).  The fact that your machine is powering off points to a hardware problem.
If you feel that you've exhausted your troubleshooting efforts there and are able to use the computer successfully without Flash Player installed, I'd recommend uninstalling:
    Uninstall Flash Player | Windows
Alternatively, if you have a sound card that isn't built onto the motherboard chipsets, you might yank it and see if your system stability improves, since it sounds like you've done that with the video card already.

  • Hi! I just bought Lion and I am having a problem with the installation. It keeps telling me that the computer's hard drive has a S.M.A.R.T. problem. How can I solve it?problem.

Hi! I just bought Lion and I am having a problem with the installation. It keeps telling me that the computer's hard drive has a S.M.A.R.T. problem. How can I solve it?
    Thanks!
    Angela

You may have a hard drive problem. When I installed Lion, the installer told me that it couldn't complete because the hard drive was failing (or broken, the exact words escape me). Since the HD had been functioning just fine, I took it to the Genius Bar, and found out that yes, the hard drive was slowly dying (bad sectors). I couldn't reboot into Snow Leopard, the installer wouldn't let me and then the drive just wouldn't work at all.
I had to replace my drive and restore from Time Machine. Thankfully, I had Time Machine, and had just done a backup 5 minutes before the crash.
    Best of luck.

  • Hard crashed my G4. Can iPod be UpLoaded to new iTunes on new computer?

Sorry, I was not sure how this discussion board worked. Here is the deal. I hard crashed my 12" G4. It's old about 4 years or so. So, has lots and lots of stuff on it including several hundred dollars of iTunes songs. Some of which are now on my iPod.
I had to buy a PC (i know!) and have installed iTunes. Can I port my tunes UP to the new iTunes from the iPod? I have to wait to get home to take in my PowerBook and see what damage control can do... meanwhile?
Power Book 12" original   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

There are several utilities out there that will allow you to copy songs from your iPod. You just have to make sure that you don't allow your new computer to sync the iPod (or you'll lose all the music on your iPod). If iTunes automatically launches when you connect your iPod, it should give you a warning about using this iPod with this computer (to keep you from accidentally wiping out your data if you connect to a friends computer). If your iPod is set to show up on the desktop, you should be able to get around the iTunes problem.
If you used your iPod with a Mac, it will be formatted with HFS+ (Mac file system) and will be unreadable by a Windows PC (without software to read the Mac file system).

I have an older macbook pro and the hard drive is starting to go (making loud noises). i tried to back up to an external hard drive (my passport essential se) using time machine and the computer keeps shutting down. the same thing happens when just trying to save my pictures from iphoto to a flash drive. suggestions to complete backup please?

Sounds like you'll need to access that drive while it is not booted. You need to replace it anyway, so do that, then one way or another (ext enclusure, et), access it and copy files.
If you keep trying to boot it, you might kill it for good and not get your files, so just swap it out first.

how can i sync music from my phone onto my new computer without losing it all? my old computer's hard drive crashed so it is unusable.

If you do not have a back up of the crashed hard drive you can download an app to copy from the iPhone to iTunes on the new hard drive.
I have used Pod2Mac.  There is also Pod2PC.
There are numerous choices, some free, some payed.  Do a Google search.

There isn't such a thing. If you are talking about the free Adobe Reader, you are at the right forum, but if your problem is with Adobe Acrobat Pro, you should post here:

In any case, I suggest that you explain what "crashing" means in your case, including any error messages.

    please, i really need help!

you'll be so surprised of how the PSU can effect you pc...for one I was so damn worried I was going to have the same problam when I upgraded my video card...but thank god it seems ok :D....by the sounds of the AMps etc of ur PSU I cant help but think there is a chance its a Q-tec as well (its our favourite PSU)but nm on that, the probalm could be (as said could) your power supply....IM not sure what video card you had before hand...but lets put it this way..if u had lets say...a geforce 4 mx440 before this upgradeor any other 32 bit video card..that demands up to around 30-35w (this is at MAX) your video card (FX) demands at its MAX around 75w ...now that is a big ass diffrence when u hardly even had enuff for your old settings...I personlay dont think its got anything to do with drivers (you can always roll back the drivers...or installing older/newer versions, but that might not help you)...it can be your fan...so just get a program that lets you keep on eye on your pc and cpu's temp...that  would help find out if thats the problam (but honestly I dont really have a bundle of POWERFUL fans or anything of a sort...thats mostly used by ppl who decide to overclock most parts of the pcs (though its always gd to have a healthy supply of fans, if you psu allows it
what u should do (dont only take my opinion please) is start off changing the drivers (if u think thats got something to do with it) if that doesnt help (which it prob wont) then check the temp of ur pc...both idle and under stress (you dont want to go out and buy fans and find out it only makes things worse..if you temp seems fine after stressing ur pc, then look into you power supply (research is the key) check if its powerful enuff to support ur rig..some1 has put a link to a very good post, in ur post...please read it

  • Hello, Trying to run Bootcamp on my 15" Macbook Pro (Maverick).60 gig available on my computer's hard drive and 250 gig on a separate hard drive that I have attached which is single partitioned. Keeps saying "The startup disk does not have enough space"

    Hello,
I'm trying to run Bootcamp on my 15" Macbook Pro (Maverick). I have 60 gig available on my computer's hard drive and have 250 gig on a separate hard drive that I have attached, which is single partitioned (MS-DOS FAT). It keeps saying "The startup disk does not have enough space, you must have 28 gig of free space available" Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the advice Bob The Fisherman. I'm just reading what turbostar has kindly written and it appears that perhaps, if I take advice from you both, I need to free more space up on the computer's hard drive?
With the external hard drive; would it be advisable to defragment? Know of any defrag freeware for Mac OSX?
    Many thanks to you both.

  • My Computer Keeps Crashing

    Hello,
For the past several weeks, my computer has been crashing, and typically does this when I'm watching a movie or streaming through Netflix. The latest crash happened today when I was a streaming a video through a browser. I've run a deep scan through Zone
Alarm, defragmented my computer, and ran a hardware test. Everything came up fine, but the crashes keep happening and they seem to get worse and worse.
I uploaded the Dump files onto my Skydrive, although this is the first time I've used this program so bear with me if something isn't right. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could fix this problem for me, as I'd hate for my only computer to break.
