Concatenate the result of a sub select...

OK, here's my problem. I have 2 tables, one referring to the other. Several rows from table B belong to table's A datas and I'd like to make a select where I can "concatenate" the content of table's B datas in one of my select row.
So for, here's what I've done:
select distinct d.code,
  c.libe "Nom",
  d.ddeb "Date de dépot",
  d.nume "Numéro de demande",
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='T' and tri=1
  ||' '
  ||
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='T' and tri=2
  ||' '
  ||
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='T' and tri=3
  ||' '
  ||
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='T' and tri=4
  ||' '
  ||
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='T' and tri=5
  ) "type",
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='C' and tri=1
  ||' '
  ||
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='C' and tri=2
  ||' '
  ||
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='C' and tri=3
  ||' '
  ||
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='C' and tri=4
  ||' '
  ||
  (select p.libe from demande p where p.code=d.nume and p.natu='C' and tri=5
  ) "Commune"
from demandeur d,
  demande t,
  client c
where t.code=d.nume
and c.code  =d.code
and c.role  ='1'
and t.natu  ='T'
and dfin   is null
and ddeb    <'30/09/2008'
and clot   is null
and d.nume in
  (select u.code from demande u where u.libe in ('F1','F 1bis','F2','F3')
order by d.ddeb asc ;The problem is that this methode will only display the five first rows in table B (demande). In table B, there might be between 1 and up to 14 rows for "Commune" and up to 10 rows for "Type".
Would there be any cleaner or smarter method to do this ?
thx

OK, works great.
I'm posting the modified code just for the record
create or replace
function getDemande(dem_nume in VARCHAR2,dem_natu in VARCHAR2) return varchar2 is
retval varchar2(32000);
begin
  for r in (select libe from demande where code=dem_nume and natu= dem_natu order by tri) loop
    retval := retval||r.libe||' / ';
  end loop;
  retval:=trim(trailing '/' from trim(retval));
  return retval;
end;
select distinct d.code,
  c.libe "Nom",
  d.ddeb "Date de dépot",
  d.nume "Numéro de demande",
  getDemande(d.nume, 'T') "Type(s)",
  getdemande(d.nume,'C') "Commune(s)"
from demandeur d,
  demande t,
  client c
where t.code=d.nume
and c.code  =d.code
and c.role  ='1'
and dfin   is null

    Hello Everyone -
    I have requirment to add a dummy row in the result set of a SELECT statement.
    For e.g. lets say there is a table Payment having following colums:
    Payment_id number
    status varchar2(10)
    amount number
    payment_date date
    so here is the data :-
    Payment_id Status Amount payment_date
    1 Applied 100 12/07/2008
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    Here is my SQL
    Select * form payment where payment_date >= 01/01/2009
    Output will be
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    My desired output is below
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    2 Reversed -200 01/ 06/2009 ------(Dummy Row)
    Thrid row here is the dummy row which I want to add when status is "Reversed"
    I would be very thankful for any kind of help in this regard ...

    NB. You may have to mess around with the ordering if that's not come back in the order you wanted. You didn't mention what the rules were for any expected ordering though, so I've made up my own *{;-)
    Also, I added an identifier (cust_id) to differentiate between different sets of payments, since that's usually the case. Remove that if it's not applicable for your case.

  • Getting message : The result set for this selection was empty on sm20

    Hi,
       I assigned below parameters in rz10 :

    rsau/max_diskspace/per_day                  1950M
    rsau/max_diskspace/per_file                 650M
    rsau/enable                                               1
       I activated security audit profile in sm19 also.But when iam going to sm20 for analysis of security audit log iam not getting report iam getting this message  :     The result set for this selection was empty.
    Gudie me for the same.
    Thanku

    Hi,
    The result set for this selection was empty.
    I think your configuration is OK except one thing...
    Check in SM19, if you have selected "Filter Active" check box in "Filter 1 and Filter 2" screen and Also "Audit Classess".
    Even though security audit is enabled in SM19, without selecting filter it will not log the events and give you the above message.

  • How to return the result set of multiple select statements as one result set?

    Hi All,
    I have multiple select statements in my stored procedure that I want to return as one result set
    for instance
    select id from tableA
    union
    select name from table b
    but union will not work because the result sets datatypes are not identical so how to go about this ?
    Thanks

    You have to CAST or CONVERT (or implicitly convert) the columns to the same datatype.  You must find a datatype that both columns can be converted to without error.  In your example I'm guessing id is an int and name is a varchar or nvarchar.
    Since you didn't convert the datatypes, SQL will use its data precedence rules and attempt to convert name to an int.  If any row contains a row that has a value in name that cannot be converted to an int, you will get an error.  The solution is
    to force SQL to convert the int to varchar.  So you want something like
    select cast(id as varchar(12)) from tableA
    union
    select name from tableb
    If the datatypes are something other that int or varchar, you must find a compatable datatype and then convert one (or both) of the columns to that datatype.

  • Controlling the results when All is selected

    I am guessing this is not possible, but...
    I have a legacy report I am trying to modify, and when option <All> is selected in my Page Item - the displayed values are summed up for all columns. However, for some columns it does NOT make sense. Is there anything I can do to change that?
    My Page Item is a Date, and the report is a cross-tab. Ideally, I would like to display the value for the Most Recent date when user selects <All>.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Maybe you need to replace the date page item with a an aggregate item, i.e. MAX(date_item). Then the latest date will be shown when the report is grouped at a higher level.

  • Select 2 records (rows) in the results.

    I am using Oracle R12- Forms.
    After searched for all orders for a specific Customer, on the Results, I need to select 2 different rows.
    Also tried ft object,but failed.
    If manual, I use Keep holding the Ctrl Key, and Click for the first row, and Click 2nd row.
    In OATS, I could not do this with the code below:
    int rone=2;
    int rtwo=5
    Robot robot = new Robot();
    robot.delay(5000);
    // press and hold CONTROL key
    robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_CONTROL);

    forms.textField("//forms:textField[(@name='MY_ORDER_NUM_"+rtwo+"')]").click();

  • Is `WHERE` clause pointless inside a sub-select?

    WHERE is part of the definition of a sub-select:
    [WITH [<calc-clause> ...]]
    SELECT [<axis-spec> [, <axis-spec> ...]]
    FROM [<identifier> | (< sub-select-statement >)]
    [WHERE <slicer>]
    [[CELL] PROPERTIES <cellprop> [, <cellprop> ...]]
    < sub-select-statement > :=
    SELECT [<axis-spec> [, <axis-spec> ...]]
    FROM [<identifier> | (< sub-select-statement >)]
    [WHERE <slicer>]I understand that a subselect does not reduce dimensionality or set context.
    If overall context of a script is not driven via a sub-select then is there ever a point in using this WHERE clause in the subselect?
    An example in Adventure Works:
    SELECT
    [Measures].[Order Count] ON 0
    [Geography].[Country] * [Product].[Category] ON 1
    FROM
    SELECT
    [Geography].[Country].[Australia] ON 0
    FROM [Adventure Works]
    WHERE
    [Product].[Category].[Bikes]

    Hi WhyTheQ,
    According to your description, you want to know if the Where clause is working when the main select statement is not driven via the sub-select. Right?
    In MDX, Where clause is used for defining slicer axis so that only the data intersecting the with the specified member will be returned. It will work in the sub-select to restrict the data. However, the return result from sub-select should match
    the set on your axis. In this scenario, your sub-select returns an aggregation value of a dimension member, but in your main select row level expects a tuple set. So your can't get the result and it will throw error.

    What's the proper usage of Sub-Select SQL query in Oracle BI Answers Version Oracle Business Intelligence 10.1.3.2.1?
    I get [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occured when trying to Sub Select query like:
    itemno = (SELECT MIN(orders.itemno) FROM mydatabase where rownum < 2 order by orders.itemno)

    Maybe the best is to create a new physical and logical object for your sub-select and join this with your current objects.

  • Print the result of an ABAP Program (in an infoset) in a ABAP List viewer.

    Hi ,
    Here is my question :
    I have created an user group in SQ03
    I have created an infoset in SQ02 and a query in SQ01.
    In my infoset I have a piece of program which looks like that :
    SELECT  EVVERTRAG EVBSTATUS EVANLAGE EVVKONTO EV~EINZDAT
    EVAUSZDAT EVCOKEY ETABRDATS ETABRVORG ETSPARTE ETTRIGSTAT
    ETABLEINH EUIINSTLNINT_UI EUITRANS~EXT_UI
    INTO (T_OFB-CONTRAT,T_OFB-STATUT_TRAIT,T_OFB-INSTAL,T_OFB-CMPTE_CONTRAT,
    T_OFB-DATE_IN,T_OFB-DATE_OUT,T_OFB-GSR, T_OFB-DATE_CALCUL
    ,T_OFB-OPE_CALCUL,T_OFB-SECTEUR,T_OFB-STATUT_ORDRE,T_OFB-UNITE,
    T_OFB-CLE_PDL,T_OFB-DES_PDL )
    FROM ( ever as ev inner join etrg as et
    ON evanlage = etanlage )
         inner join  euiinstln
         ON euiinstlnanlage = evanlage
         inner join euitrans
         ON euitransint_ui = euiinstlnint_ui
    WHERE ET~TRIGSTAT = '2'
    ORDER BY EV~ANLAGE.
    This program works fine, but when I create my query, I can just see the result in abap list.
    When I choose "abap list viewer" or "Excel format", the result is more like :
    " select * from  all tables "
    Is there a way to show the result in the viewer ?
    I added a "WRITE :/ <column1>, <column2>, but the result is the same.
    I also wonder if we can do a "group by " in ABAP.
    And do you know how to make a condition " where my_date < today -19 days" ?
    Thank you in advance for your answers.
    I've been around the others posts and you did such a great job.
    Laurent.

    hi Chintai,
    in bw side, you create a abap program to trigger an event in r/3,
    and include this abap program in your process chain, the abap program like
    CALL FUNCTION 'BP_EVENT_RAISE'
    EXPORTING
    eventid = 'ZRUNJOB_DEL'
    and in r/3 schedule the program to delete previous data with 'after event',
    the event name is same as raise by bw process chain, in this sample ZRUNJOB_DEL.
    hope this helps.

  • Result table data to be populated based on selection in the result list

    Hi,
    We have a parent data source "P" containing all the record types. Further we have two child data sources each having filters on exclusive record types(for ex. child1 containing record types X, Y, Z and child2 containing record types A, B).
    In our page we have a result list associated with data source child1(record types X, Y, Z) and result table associated with data source child2(record types A, B). There exists common attributes among the attributes present in result list and in the result table.
    Rest of the containers in the page namely search, breadcrumbs, guided navigation point to the parent data source("P") containing all the record types.
    Whenever we select a value from the guided navigation using the common attributes both the result list and result table are getting filtered.
    What we require is that, whenever an attribute(common attribute) is clicked in the result list, the data in the result table needs to get filtered based on the value of the attribute that is clicked.
    Is this possible? If so, pl. suggest how.

    Take a look at the Studio release notes for EID 2.4 http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35976_01/studio.240/RELNOTES.txt a lot of little bugs like the one you describe have been resolved. If you haven't already done so you should upgrade to 2.4.

    I can tell you that this is some of the absolutely worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I found out from a store employee that when they are really busy with calls, they have third party companies taking overflow calls. One of those companies is Xerox. What can a Xerox call center rep possibly be able to authorize on a Verizon account?  I'm Sure there is a ton of misinformation out there due to this. They don't note the accounts properly or so everyone can see them. I have been transferred before and have asked if they work for Verizon or a third party also and was refused an answer so, apparently they aren't required to disclose that information. I spent a long time in the store on my last visit and it's not just customers that get the runaround. It happens to the store employees as well and it's beyond frustrating.

  • Access the results of the following query in Java? SELECT sum(COL_X) FROM TABLE_A

    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery(
    "SELECT sum(COL_X) FROM TABLE_A");
    int = rset.getInt("sum(NUM_CUSTOMER)");This is obviously wrong. Could someone please help me a little on the syntax? I just want to be able to get the sum of the numeric values in a column without having to loop through a ResultSet and manually adding up the total. My question is how can I access the results of this query by assigning the sum to a java variable?

    Hi,
    Probably the easiest way is to use an alias for the sum column, i.e.:
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery(
    "SELECT SUM(COL_X) MY_SUM FROM TABLE_A"
    int i = rset.getInt("MY_SUM");null

  • Oracle 11g SUM function on the result of inner Select

    The inner Select returns rows with the values. The outer select running on tthe result of inner select SUM the result of the inner select.
    Although there are valid rows of the inner select the SUM in the outer SELECT return NVL. As a comment any aggregate function on the outer select returns NVL.
