Concept albums do not play in correct order on ipod

Imported concept CD, Chicago 2 album, into iTunes and then put it on my 6th gen iPod Nano.  Shuffle is off and yet tracks do not play in order on iPod but they do play in order on iTunes.  Help--this is driving me crazy!

Looking in your iTunes library, do the songs have the *track number* field completed, are they correct and is the "total number of tracks on the album" also filled in?
There are various ways to see and change this information:
a.) *View/As list* (it's easier to see what you need at this time) and then *View/View options* and put a tick in the box named *Track No.* This will show you the track numbers in a column for each song and you can see which ones are missing.
If any songs or albums need changing:
b.) select song, *File/Get info/Info>track number X*
c.) select whole album *File/Get info/<yes>/>track number of X*
If that is not the problem, then it possibly the menu (on the iPod) that you've chosen to use to see the album. Which one have you used?

  • HT1351 Some albums tracks are in the correct order in Itunes on my laptop but are out of order when input to ipod. How do I correct this please?

Some of my albums are not in the correct order when transferred from itunes on my laptop to my ipod classic. Can anyone suggest how I can correct this please

It goes by the Track # field, as seen in on a list in iTunes.  So, make sure the Track # field is correctly entered for each song when you review the album on a list in iTunes.  Also, make sure the Album field is entered identically for all the songs on the album.
You can edit those fields by doing a Get Info on a song, and going to the Info windows's Info tab,

  • TS1424 i downloaded an album from i tunes, but it will not play back correctly, tracks stop half way through and skip to the next one. what can i do???

I downloaded an album from i tunes, but it will not play back correctly,
it starts a track and then stops randomly and jumps to the next track
and then does the same thing ad ainfinitum! What to do??

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over the last few days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting those tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that album and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • Albums Will Not Play In Sequence

Since the recent update to my iPod Touch, my albums do not play in sequence. I am not in Shuffle mode, which works, by the way. But, in standard play mode, the albums do not play in sequence. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?

I had the exact same issue a while back. The "fix", if you can call it that, may not be something you want to hear.
Basically, my albums got randomized, but it was only a handful on my device (like around 15) and they were all either albums I had downloaded or albums that were originally in windows media (because of my zune that I had before my touch).
Here's the only way I know how to fix it: If you own a physical copy of your album, take the albums that are randomized on your ipod OFF of your device. Then take them off of itunes. Take the master CD and rip it to itunes again and finally put the newly ripped album back onto your ipod again. It should be in order now.
However, you may not own a physical copy of the album because you downloaded it. Ipod Touches (mine at least) are mostly prone to getting downloaded albums out of order. If this is the case, there MAY be an alternate method, although I have not tried it myself: Try burning the album onto a CD in itunes (where it should be in order) and uploading the files off of the newly burned CD onto itunes again after they have been taken off. You MAY need to rename all your files (I recommend allmusic.com for tracklistings), but this method should, in theory, work.
I just hope you don't have to many albums on your touch that are getting randomized, and if so, that they aren't downloaded. You may end up spending a lot of time and possibly money (on blank CDs) on getting your device to run properly.
Try these and let me know if they work.

    Hi klivak,
If you are having difficulties with playing certain tracks purchased from the iTunes Store in iTunes, I would suggest deleting those songs and then downloading them again. See this article -

  • Help!!! - Protected AAC files do not play on any of my iPods

Since ten days ago both my iPods (Video 60GB and Photo 40GB) are not capable anymore to play iTMS purchased music. The music plays fine on iTunes (Windows, last version), is correctly copied on both the iPods (both updated to the last version of iPod software) but when I try to play any of the Protected AAC file kind the iPods just shows the Cover and skips to the next songs.
The bad thing is that is happening on any Protected AAC file i try to play on any of the iPods and we are talking about 527 songs, for a total more than 500 euros. THAT'S BAD!!!
I've tryed everything, re-flashed the iPods with the last iPod Updater (any hint on where to find the 2005 version?), reinstalled iTunes on both the PCs I've at home, deauthorized and re-authorized the iTMS account, deleted all the music from the iPod and loaded back again, no light at all...
I've contacted the iTMS support, they have deauthorized all my PCs, I've authorized them back but nothing. After four email they passed me to the Tech iPod support.
I've called them, on the Video I've also the AppleCare, we tryed everything, also formatting the iPod via the Operating System, but no luck.
At the end they have said that is a problem with the FairPlay authorization and brought me back to the iTMS support.
I wrote them again, explaining all the situation and giving them the SR number and this is what I got as an answer:
"have escalated the issue you reported, and you will receive an email message once we have a resolution. Thank you for your patience as we work to make your experience with the iTunes Music Store more enjoyable."
No timeline, no explanation at all.
Obviusly all the other functionalities of the iPods are working fine and all the Protected AAC files plays fine on iTunes, but nothing on the iPods.
I've also tryed to buy a couple on new songs from iTunes but also these do not play on any of the iPods.
From the tech support side, seems I'm the only one to have this problem in the world. From my point of view this could be a FairPlay keys problem but the result is that I cannot play any of the music I've bought.
Does anybody had this kind of problem or some hints to save the day?
One bottle of italian wine (Brunello di Montalcino, very fine red wine) to who finds a solution.
    Have an happy life.
    MB from Italy

Nobody replyed to my message but I think that knowing the solution can be helpful for someone in the future.
    I've made some extensive testing.
To me the problem has appeared when I've update both the iPod to the last iPod software version, 1.1.1 for the Video and 1.2.1 for the Photo.
At that time I was using the iTunes for Windows version 6.0.4
Thanks to the hint of a user on the iLounge forum (www.ilounge.com), the problem was related to the versions combination between iTunes for Windows and the iPod Software.
Today I've tried all the version of iTunes form the 6.0.0 to the 6.0.4 (thanks to File Hippo) and the only one that works is the 6.0.0
The problem seems solved on both the iPods, obviously I've notified Apple of the temporary solution and I really hope that someone will take care of this one.

  • I have had two instances of having a downloaded album "scrambled" while playing on appletv, I.e. the track listing remaining correct but having the wrong songs play.  Once this has occurred the album does not play correctly.  Any help with this issue?

I am having problems with Apple TV scrambling albums while playing from iTunes.  The track listing remains correct but the songs play out of order and not all of the songs seem to in place, I.e. a song that played previously under one title will play as a different title.  Any thoughts or help?  Thanks.

Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and  use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.

  • Album not showing in correct order

I have an album that refuses to show in the correct order on my iPod Classic.  I have checked and the album order is correct in iTunes.  It shows up right on my iPhone, my AppleTV and my iTunes, but the classic has one song out of order.  I have deleted and re-added the album to iTunes.  I have manually removed and re-added the track numbers.  I have even restored my iPod Classic and re-synced all of the songs.  Still it shows wrong.  What else can I do here?

I have a similar problem, the only way I could fix it was to create a new play list in iTunes, transfer the songs to it, and then delete the old playlist. Then when I synced with my iPod they were in the correct order.

  • Playlist's not in the correct order

I've always had a last played list of all the songs I've listened to recently. Ever since the new itunes update when I update my iPods (shuffle, nano and iphone 4S) they are in alphabetical order but in the smart playlist on my computer they are in the correct order. What is going on that the order of the music is incorrect? Is there a simple fix for it or is it just a glitch? I have seen other questions that are sort of like mine, however, they are not completely like my situations so I wanted to ask specifically for my situation. Thanks in advance!

Just to be clear, on all your music playlists, if you click on a playlist to view the songs it will show them in alphabetical order.
HOWEVER, IF YOU DO NOT ENTER THE PLAYLIST TO SEE THE SONGS BUT HIT PLAY ON THE PLAYLIST ITSELF IT WILL PLAY IN THE ORDER ON WHATEVER ITUNES YOU ARE STREAMING FROM.
I have seen alot written about the "playlist bug" but its not a bug. It works.
However, I suspect the ATV shows the songs in order for two reasons:
    1) Apple assumes if you have a playlist, you will manage it from your iTunes and thus you will simply hit play on the Playlist to play it in order per my comment above. Thus, when you enter the playlist, Apple is using what it things will be the easiest default method for finding your songs which is alpha. Why do this? Because again assuming they arent expecting you to enter the playlist except to either find an album or artist, this would be the easiest way to do this and then from there they assume you may want to find other songs or albums or create a genius playlist from this artist hence why you can hold down the play button and get those options.
    2) This is version 1 of the software and as we know with apple its not throw in all bells and whistles but streamline and simple. Even if it means locking things down like being able to resort a playlist on the AppleTv
I dont necessarily agree but it makes sense if you view it that way and also understand that Apple looks at this new gen of appletv as a streaming device not as a device to manage your content.

  • Not playing songs in order (premium and not on shuffle)

Hye guys, long time lurker first time questioner.I have spotify on my iPhone 6 64 gig running iOS 8.4 and spotify version 3.6.0.923. In the last few days I've noticed that spotify doesn't always play albums that are in 'Your music' inthe correct order. I am a premium member and shuffle is turned off on the device so it would usually just play from the song I've selected until the ned of the album. The application is not doing this currently. It may play several songs in the correct orderbut after a few songs it'll just start playing in the wrong order. Is anyone else seeing this issue?

    Hello there!
What you are experiencing might be a bug.
Have you tried closing the app and its process and then reopening it?
    Does restarting your phone help?
If nothing works, maybe a clean reinstallation will do it:
On the home screen, tap and hold the Spotify icon until it shakes.
Tap the X symbol on the icon.
Hold the Home and Power buttons down together until the Apple logo appears.
Open the App Store then search for and install the Spotify app.
Keep in mind that a clean reinstall will delete all data stored by Spotify, so you'll need to sync your offline music again.
If nothing fixes the issue, then maybe the next Spotify update fixes it.
    Hope this helps! ♫

  • Ipod touch 5th gen will not play songs correctly

So I got a new ipod touch 5th gen for christmas.  When I put songs into a playlist and play them they dont always play in the correct order, or sometimes they dont play at all.  I had no problems with it the first week I had it but then all of a sudden it didnt play the music correctly.  It will skip one song and then play another song a second time in place of it.   Then sometimes it will randomly skip the last bit of a song and go to a different one but when I go in and look at the songs being played it says its still playing the song that it decided to skip.  It also will play the songs in a different order than what I put them in along with the previous problems listed ocurring.  Please let me know if theres anything I can do to fix this or if I should send it in to apple or maybe even take it back and exchange it for a different one.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!!!

  • Album art not being synced correctly

I used an external tagging program to embed album art into all my song files. They show up correctly in iTunes when selected or playing, but they do not, in all cases, sync to the iPod. However, I have found that if I go to an album that has art in iTunes and does not sync to the iPod, and play each track just for an instant, and resync, the art transfers. What's weird is that it's not consistently NOT showing up on the iPod... and I certainly don't want to have to hunt down every piece of music with art that doesn't sync to the iPod and play that song. Is there a way to make iTunes refresh the library without deleting the database? I don't use iTunes to manage my physical music files.

Thank You, now I can see the art work when I play the songs in itunes but now when I play a song on my ipod it doesnt display the artwork with the title on the ipod itself.
    I've tried everything.
    Thank you for your help!

  • Audiobooks not playing in proper order

I have an iPod Classic, 80GB, on up to date software (v 1.1.2, according to iTunes, which is on v 12.1.0.50). I have several audiobooks, some of which were loaded into iTunes from CDs rather than being downloaded from the iTunes Store. The iPod apparently syncs properly with the iMac, which is on Yosemite 10.10.2. (I don't think the issue is anything to do with the OS, since it was evident on the last two OSes as well.
The issue is that on the iPod under the Audiobooks menu the books are displayed and play in alphabetical order of the names of the tracks, not in the book order. Some of the track names are 'Track 1, Track 2', etc. This makes for interesting variety, but it's difficult to follow the plot!
I have tried resyncing after changing the sort order in iTunes, but nothing seems to make any difference. I have worked around the issue by creating playlists and merging tracks, but this is less than satisfactory.
Am I doing something wrong or is the iPod faulty? Thanks for any help offered.

Unchecked tracks are skipped during normal track to track playback and are usually excluded from syncing to devices. I use them for things like bonus interview tracks which I will keep in my library but don't want to play accidentally when listening to the album. There is a preference to hide the checkboxes if you don't have a use for them.
