Conditions for faster Application Deployment

Hi together,
we're in need to deploy some Applications to some computers as fast as it is possible.
I've searched for criterias which influences the speed of a deployment, for example the client push intervall setting from the Client Settings, but i didn't found much information.
Is there an overview / chart / graphic which shows the technical workflow which happens in the background when i target a collection with an application? I couldn't find something like that in the Technet Library or elsewhere in the internet.
Also i'm interested in your experiences with a scenario like that if you have some.

Client push has nothing to do with Application Deployment. This is only used to deploy the SCCM client.
Assuming the following:
Application has already been created and tested
Application are deployed to a device collection
The collection already contain the required members
Under Client Settings you configure the "Client Policy polling interval". The default is 60 minutes.
You could lower the time, but as a general rule I wouldn't do that. It will increase the load on your management points. But there are scenarios where this is the way to go.
If this is a one time operation, or something you just want in you toolbox if something need to go out really fast, you could also trigger an update "now" using Client notification, by right-clicking the collection and select Client notification.
A third option could be to install a right-click tool like this

You need it because it's possible to have a complex pricing procedure, and you can't do it with a simple select on a table. Think that you can have pricing requirements, formulas (ie: VOFM) and so on in your pricing procedure (tcode V/08).

Personally i would'nt suggest using the Application server, due to
1. If you need down time for application patching, you custom application will also be down.
2. If you can not start 10g Application server (The one came with R12) for some issues, it will also affect your custom application.
3. If you are upgrading/patching 10g application server (the one came with R12), you would not know what will the affect of this on custom application.

Cannot display BIG5 characters for web applications deployed to 9iAS

I have just installed the J2EE and Webcache module of Oracle9iAS Release 2 to
my Windows NT Server 4.0 and deployed a simple web application to it. However,
I found that the JSP cannot display chinese (Big5) characters correctly. My JSP
is something like:

On the other hand, I tried to re-direct the standard output to a log file and
do the following in my servlet.
System.out.println(SOME_BIG5_CHARACTERS);
Now, the Big5 characters CAN be displayed correctly in the log file. So, I am
confused with where the problem is.
Here are my settings to my 9iAS:
1) Using regedit, I have set the NLS_LANG variable of the corresponding
ORACLE_HOME to TRADITIONAL CHINESE_TAIWAN.ZHT16BIG5
2) In the file %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Jserv\conf\jserv.properties, I have
inserted the following line:
wrapper.env=NLS_LANG=TRADITIONAL CHINESE_TAIWAN.ZHT16BIG5
3) In the file %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Apache\conf\httpd.conf, I have added the
following line:
PassEnv NLS_LANG
4) In the file %ORACLE_HOME%\opmn\conf\opmn.xml, I have added the following
line to the corresponding OC4J instance:

I met a similar problem before but not exactly your case. When I compile the JSP by Jdeveloper, it will convert the chinese characters to strange characters. It makes me crazy to handle the chinese characters ...
Anyway, by my experience, you better isolate the chinese characters from your JSP or Java programs. Instead, put all language dependent text in a properties file and then use native2ascii to covert your properties file into Unicode. Of course, u need to change your page charset to UTF-8.

Understanding low compliance numbers for an application deployment

We created a deployment of a driver package to a group of known machines that need the update. After 3 weeks, the required deployment is sitting at only 40.7% compliance. Many of the machines may be on intermittently, so we are not surprised the number is
not 100%, but it does seem rather low. However, the real issue is the summarization of the deployment.
The deployment information in the Monitoring workspace seems to be incomplete. The pie chart shows a big red swatch of over 50% in error, but when looking at the error tab, only 9 machines have information. As a matter of fact, in the breakdown only 131
of the 275 machines in the collection are accounted for. When looking at the collection, 14 machines show as inactive, so that does not account for the large gap.
EDIT: I ran the report Application deployment type compliance, and it says success is 228 machines, in stark contrast to what I see in deployment monitoring.
How can I find out what is really going on with this deployment?

you should look at the logs on the client for unknown machines what are they doing like reeving policies or what went wrong.without logs,would be difficult to predict what went wrong.

How to include page fragment for JSF application deployed on WebSphere?

Hi all,
I have the following urgent JSF problem, I hope that you can support me in solving it;
- I have JSF application need to be deployed on IBM WebSphere 6.0.1 Application Server.
- I have the tag:
<jsp:directive.include file="Actions.jspf"/>
which includes a page fragment.
- This is working file with Tomcat 5.5 & Sun Application Server 9, but it didn't work on WebSphere and each time the page fragment contents rendered as text, I mean that the JSF components in the fragment doesn't converted to html controls.

HTTP Status 404 error for FIORI Application deployed on HCP

Hello Experts,
I have created a Fiori App using Web IDE and deployed it on my trial account of HCP .
The Gateway service used is from On Premise system. I have used SAP Cloud Connector to connect Hana cloud Platform and on premise system.
In Web IDE test application works fine. However, when I deploy it and access the application URL I am getting the error "HTTP Status 404" as shown in the screenshot.
In Chrome Developer Console shows below error
"Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)". I have checked many threads but could not find the solutions.

Does your firoi app have index.html file ? If yes, is it placed in the root folder of your app ?
I guess you're missing out the index.html in your fiori app. You may be having Component.js as the entry point which will run only with Fiori launchpad. But to run fiori app as standalone, you need to create the index.html file.
You can try accessing your component.js file by adding a '/Component.js' at the end of the url to know if you're app has been deployed properly as of now.

I couldn't find a reporing services report for a simple overview how many deployments (per applications) were finished successfully. The report "all application deployments (advanced/basic) is not suitable in my case.

Separate logging with log4j for web applications deployed on one server

I have been trying to get web applications to write to separate log files.
Log4j.jar is loaded through classpath once during weblogic startup. In each web application, I have Log4j.xml or Log4j.properties configuration files under WEB-INF folder. I hava java class in the application extending HttpServlet and loads the log4j.xml file, In web.xml they have load-on-startup set to 1. Two java class files both extending write the log to the specified log file but other java class files are not logging information, some implement filter, some are action classes (Struts 1.2.9). If the java class has a static method then the log from the method is being written but the log from instance methods is not being written. I tried declaring the variable both as static and non-static

What could be causing some java class files not to log?
Another issue, For Log4j.xml, Doctype as SYSTEM property set to lookup Log4j.dtd, weblogic complains as Log4j.dtd file not found, tried adding this file in WEB-INF folder, same location as LOg4j.xml and WEB-INF/lib folder and even in classpath, weblogic still complains of log4j.dtd file being not found. For now, I removed SYSTEM entry but need to put it back for parser to validate xml file.
I am using WLS 8.1.6, struts 1.2.9 and Log4j 1.2.8 versions.
Any help is appreciated.

Need help with Resource Mapping from Application Deployment to VC:virtualMachine

I've built a number of vCO Workflows and hooked them up to Resource Actions in vRA. However, the Workflows I've built all take a VC:VirtualMachine as the input and therefore,they only "hookup" to VMs in the Machines list in the Items tab in vRA. Ideally, I want these actions to hookup to the Application Deployments in vRA since that is what my users are deploying - the VM that the App rides on is somewhat secondary. Plus, it's cumbersome for them to find the VM that corresponds to the App they want to run the action on.
So, I looked into creating a new Resource Mapping, thinking I could map an Application Deployment to a VC:VirtualMachine so that I could create an Action for the Application. I was able to create a mapping from Application Deployment to VC:VM using the Map to VC:VM existing workflow and I could add that to the Actions menu for the Application Deployment but if I try to run it, it fails. I kind of expected this since I think the Map to VC:VM is expecting an input of IaaS VC:VM to map to vCO VC:VM. I think what I need to do is write a Workflow that will take in the Application Deployment "object" and find the VC:VM inside it but I don't know how to find out the structure of an Application Deployment such that I could parse it and get the VM.

Relevance Condition for released P.O. Don´t create the EH in EM

Hello Experts,
I have the following issue, I create a Relevance condition For an Application Object Type, in this case acording to ZPCM10_ITEM. The condition works like this:

The condition works well, only create the PO into the range of numbers and with the plant. My problem is when i include into the condition the "Release indicator: Purchasing Document" according this:

I include the condition of the indicator = 1 (Released). In theory in EM we can only see the Purchase orders in Released Status, but when i execute ME28 Transaction, nothing happen and the P.O. don´t work in Event Management.
Do i forget other step to reach the objective?

Thanks a lot by the function module, i really don´t knew it, was very helpful to identify my problem. As you explain, yes the condition result was F (false), so the EH was not created.
We must to modify the condition, because our scenario is procurement visibility process and it works at P.O. Item level, so we cannot get this validation in the condition, we decide to create an expected event and registered this with the help of the User Exit EXIT_SAPMM06E_007.
We decide this, because when we create the P.O. but don´t release this, ok, the EH was not created, but later when we release the P.O., the expected event extractor, don´t trigger, so the expected events extractor was not generated and this option was not useful for us, because we have an empty EH.
So we use the Exit EXIT_SAPMM06E_007, to check the Event Release P.O. and send it to the Event Manager via calling the functions 'TRFC_SET_QUEUE_NAME' and '/SAPTRX/BAPI_EH_ADDEVENTMSG_02'.

similar for the application deployment evaluation cycle.
To your question, Jason, we have a vdi solution that is closely scrutinized by the powers that be. Every utilization spike on the storage array triggers a flurry of "why did that happen?" emails from management (a behavior born out of a couple
previous array crashes). It's been useful to correlate some the SCCM actions time stamps to the time frames of some of these spikes. In this particular case, a spike was monitored when somebody used right click tools to run the application deployment
evaluation cycle on a large collection of vdi machines. Bet you're sorry you asked now!
Anyway, thanks again. I'll script out another solution.

Application deployment evaluation powershell script

Is there a way that I can run a powershell script or vbs script that will allow me to run the Client actions on the local client. kind of like a shortcut that will go into the configuration manager client control panel icon and run the client action required.
Specifically for the Application Deployment Evaluation

How to create different log files for each of web applications deployed in OC4J

I am using OC4J(from Oracle) v1.0.2.2 and Windows2000. Now I want to know
1. how to create different log files for each of my deployed web applications ?
2. what are the advantages in running multiple instances of oc4j and in what case we should run
multiple instances of OC4J ?
3. how to run OC4J as Windows2000 Service rather than Windows2000 Application ?

First of all I have given a first reading to log4j and I think there will some more easy way of logging debugging messages than log4j (If you could provide me a detailed explanation of a servlet,jsp,java bean that uses log4j and how to use log4j then it will be very helpful for me). The other easy ways (if I am not using log4j) to my problem i.e creating different log files for each of web applications deployed in oc4j are
I have created multiple instances of OC4J that are configured to run on different ports and so on each instance I have deployed a single web application . And I started the 2 oc4j instances by transferring thier error/log messages to a file. And the other way is ..
I have download from jakarta site a package called servhelper . This servhelper is a thread that is started in a startup servlet and stopped in the destroy method of that startup servlet. So this thread will automatically capture all the system.out.println's and will print those to a file. I believe that this thread program is synchronized. So in this method I need not run multiple instances of OC4J instead each deployed web application on single instance of oc4j uses the same thread program (ofcourse a copy of thread program is put in each of the deployed web applications directories) to log messages on to different log files.
Can you comment on my above 2 approached to logging debugging messages and a compartive explanation to LOG4J and how to use LOG4J using a simple servlet, simple jsp is appreciated ...
