Is it possible to send a text message using the UDP protocol?

Support doc
http://www.adobe.com/support/director/multiuser/using_udp/using_udp02.html
says to use the following format with connectToNetServer:
errCode =
gMultiuserInstance.connectToNetServer([#remoteAddress:
"chatServer.myCompany.com", #logonInfo: [#userID: "Bob",
#password:
"MySecret", #movieID: "Tech Chat"], #mode: #smus,
#localUDPPort: 1627,
#localAddress: "123.45.67.89", #remoteTCPPort: 1626])
But if I change the mode to #text, it still sends out
messages as smus.
In fact, if I leave out the UDP parameters altogether but
still use the
list parameters for connectToNetServer, it still always sends
as smus.
Sends as smus:
errCode =
gMultiuserInstance.connectToNetServer([#remoteAddress:
"chatServer.myCompany.com", #logonInfo: [#userID: "Bob",
#password:
"MySecret", #movieID: "Tech Chat"], #mode: #text,
#localUDPPort: 1627,
#localAddress: "123.45.67.89", #remoteTCPPort: 1626])
Sends as smus:
errCode =
gMultiuserInstance.connectToNetServer([#remoteAddress:
"chatServer.myCompany.com", #logonInfo: [#userID: "Bob",
#password:
"MySecret", #movieID: "Tech Chat"], #mode: #text])
Only the string parameter method can be made to send text
messages.
Sends as text:
errCode = gMultiuserInstance.connectToNetServer("Bob",
"MySecret",
"chatServer.myCompany.com", 1626, "Tech Chat", 1)
Am I missing something? Is this a known issue? Anyone have a
work around?
-Jeremy

Drat!
Thanks for the answer though.

Is it possible to use Siri to send text messages to groups (categories, distribution lists)? I want to be able to say to Siri "Send a text message to the people in 'group 4' category." Just be sure you have international Roaming and Data plans or it will be extremely expensive.

  • TS2755 Is anyone else having issues trying to send out text messages since the new update?

Been having issues sending out iMessages to other iPhone users. Seems to be very slow to send or does not send at all since the new update. I've been having to restart my phone or click the message and send as a text. Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?

I had trouble texting today as the touch screen was not responsive until I rebooted. Had nothing to do with my carrier.
I also have trouble with the SwiftKey app when the keyboard does not display.  I sometimes can get it back up by going in Setting-General-Keyboard-SwiftKey and turning it off then back on.  But just as many times it will only display again after a reboot. I don't know if this is iOS 8.1.1 or SwiftKey.

  • Is it possible to send encrypted email messages using cfmail ?

Does anyone know of a way to send an encrypted email message
    using CF?

Sending an encrypted message is easy. The hard part is
enabling the recipient to decrypt it.

  • Is it possible to send a Mail message from the keyboard (Macbook pro)?

Occasionally while I am composing a message in Mail the send command is somehow activated and the half complete message is sent.  I don't want this to happen and can find no keyboard command that I might be mistakenly typing. I certainly don't click on the send button in the tool bar.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  This is irritating and sometimes embarrassing.
    Thanks.

Shift CMD D  is the keyboard shortcut, not exactly easy to hit by mistake though.

  • When I send a text message from my iphone sometimes the recipient receives it twice...why does this happen.

Why is it that when I send a text message, sometimes the recipient receives it twice. It doesn't happen every time.

I am having this same problem. Sometimes it sends from my phone number, sometimes it sends from my gmail. Under my messages settings it says "receive messages at 2 addresses" and when I click on that I try to remove the gmail address from there but the option to delete that email address is grayed out so I can't click on it.
I discovered this was happening because I am in a group imessage with 2 friends. They told me that for some reason the group convos were split into 2 different conversations in their message list. And we discovered it's because in one group the messages are coming from my phone number, and in the other group it is coming from my gmail address.
I don't mind RECEIVING iMessages at both my phone number and my gmail - but I want control over which one is being used when I SEND iMessages.
    Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

  • I am not able to send/receive text message on my N...

    Hello:
I bought a Nokia 5800 in India last summer. I used a local SIM card (Airtel) when I was there. I was able to send/receive text messages when I was in India.
I came back to Chicago and replaced the Airtel SIM card on my 5800 with my AT&T sim card. I have a pay-as-you-go service with AT&T. I had used a Sony-Ericsson Z300a phone with my AT&T service before I bought my 5800. I did not have any problems sending/receiving text messages with the Sony-Ericsson phone using my AT&T SIM card.
I don't have any problems using my 5800 with my AT&T SIM card for calling or sending/receiving multimedia messages. I just cannot send or receive any text messages. I have checked the message center number setting on my 5800 and it appears to be correct. I have also done a hardware reset of the 5800 and the problem remains.
    Any clues?

Hello parsar. Even if you have the correct Message Center number there, it's worth a try to delete the existing one and enter the correct one afresh. Make sure you have the latest firmware on your phone, and that there are no applications that may interfere with sending/receiving sms, like some filtering software.
    Hope this helps
And, pakiboy, resetting to factory settings (by typing *#7780#) will NOT delete anything in the phone memory.
    Cheers,

  • Why do I get double messages, almost simultaneously, when I send a text message?

Why do I get duplicate messages on my screen, almost simultaneously, when I send a text message?

The problem occurs with both green and blue bubbles.  As soon as I hit send the first bubble comes up on the right side of the screen with a "read" time under the bubble at the moment I sent it.  Then in a second or two, the same message/text comes up to the left side of the screen in a gray bubble.

  • How do you get siri to display ? mark when sending a text message?

When I send a text message using Siri how do I get it to put in the correct punctuation? If I want to ask a question it bugs me there is no question mark.

You actually have to say "question mark" at the end (you can also say period, comma, etc)

  • Sending a text message to a group of people

I know how to form a "group" in my mac address book. I was able to sync it to my iphone, but when I tried to text message the "group" it only let me click on one name at a time. Is there a way to send one text message to the whole group at once? I need to text about 30 people at one time. Any suggestions?

"Send a text message to multiple people: Tap , then add people one at a time. If
you enter a phone number manually (instead of selecting it from Contacts), you must
tap Return before entering another entry. "
This comes from page 71 of the users guide.

  • IPhone 4 cannot send international text messages

I have an iPhone 4. Since day one that I bought the phone, I have not been successful to send international text messages. The procedure for sending an international text message is simple: enter 011, followed by the country code, and then the phone number. It has never worked. Each time, I get the following error message -- "Message Send Failure". Any ideas for fixing this problem?
What surprises me most is that I have an HTC Trophy with the same Mobile Service provider. No problem exists with the HTC Trophy for sending international text messages.

I never had problems sending international text since my first 3g iPhone and neither with the 4. The only problem is that international txts are too expensive, I recommend you to use Skype or other app that can send texts.

  • Is it possible to send a text to several contacts at the same time and not have their replies go to everyone on the list?  I have an iphone 4s and most of the people I am texting also have iPhones.  I do have group messaging turned off.

Is it possible to send a text from the iphone 4s to several contacts and not have their replies go to everyone else on the original text?  I have group messaging turned off but this seems to do nothing.

    Do this instead:
Email everyone instead of texting and use BCC: which will hide all of the people's emails.
