  • Barcode not displaying/printing in Crystal Report java viewer

We have written a Crystal report (in Developer XI release 2 with service pack 4 installed) which produces barcode labels.  The barcodes are Code 39 barcodes and are generated by printing the string \*data_field\* in a Code 39 barcode font.  The asterisk is the character used for the Code 39 start/stop sequence in the barcode font.
In Developer everything works fine and prints out and scans correctly. When we make the report available to our end users in the Crystal Reports java viewer all we get where the barcode should appear is white space on screen or when we print.  (The rest of the report behaves correctly).
We have tried a few things and have found that if both asterisks or the starting or ending asterisk is left in a different font (i.e. not the barcode font) then the rest of the string displays and prints in the barcode font.  (unfortunately without bot asterisks you don't get a scanable barcode).
Has anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this?
(In case it might be relevant the barcode font we are using is this one: http://www.barcodesinc.com/free-barcode-font/)
    Thanks

    Hello Ludek,
I have found that the issue is caused by the bold attributes of my field.
You can try the following and you should encounter the same issue:
                                    - Create a Report
                                    - Create a formula with many characters
                                    - Put you field in Times New Roman bold 8.
The following Font Size in  Times New Roman are in issue: 5 u2013 8 u2013 11- 14
                    The following Font Size in  Arial are in issue: 8 u2013 11 u2013 12 u2013 14
    Thank you.

  • Crystal Report Java Reporting Component Query

    Hi,
If I am using the Crystal Report Java Reporting Component, do I need any other Crystal Report software to be installed during run time?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ron,
the desired guides can be found here:
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/cr/xir2/index.html
    http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/businessobjectsxi/en/en/JRC_SDK/default.htm
The reason why you might not find the guide is as of Crystal Reports 2008 the JRC was integrated into the Crystal Reports for Ecplise package and is not availble separately anymore. See also the What' new-guide of Crystal Reports 2008 here:

  • Crystal report Java Beans Connectivity

    Hi
My name is Bach Ong. I.m currently migrating Crystal reports 10 to Crystal reports 2008 using Java Beans Connectivity. Using ResultSet as dataset. all results are return alright, EXCEPT for string type fields. The data for STRING type fields are some how suppressed. But if i executed the beans within eclipse the the string field is populated with data.
can someone assist me with this issue.
    Thanks
    Bach Ong

Some suggestions I would give for this are:
    1. It may be a fault with the data itself.  Specifically, if you have a string field that contains invalid or null data (Instead of an empty string), it may be causing an error to be thrown when the report engine tries to process the string fields - and it thus fails on all string fields.
So please try this with some data where all fields contain valid non-null, non-empty data and see if it works.
    2. One of the difficulties with javabeans is that they don't give proper error messages.  However, there is a way to kick off the javabean java process in the crystal report designer which allows you to debug your javabean inside the report designer.  I have attached a sample that shows how to do that - and that should get you the real error message of what is going wrong.
Note: Due to the way these forums work - it will only let me attach a file if it is named with the .txt extension.  You will need to extract the txt file and then rename it to .zip (annoying I know).

  • Unicode Hindi Printing in Crystal Report Java Viewer

I am facing a strange problem. We have a report made in Crystal Report 11.5 which contains Unicode Hindi Text. The reports are viewed using Java Plugin Viewer. The report successfully dispalyed in the Java Viewer with proper hindi encoding in the web browser(both firefox and IE). But whenever I try to print the information, the hindi text are not printed properly, the dependant vowel signs are dislocated.
But the same page is displayed and can be printed properly from a Linux Machine, Using firefox browser..
any solution to this strange behaviour.

Only option I can think of, is to create your own printer dialog and capture the cancel print event there.
You will not be able to get at the print cancel event of the printer dialog displayed by the CR viewer print button.

  • Crystal Reports with Java in Unix Environment

We have Crystal Enterprise Professional Edition and Embedded Edition v10 with us.We want to use them for generating reports in our development project.
We have to generate reports as batch jobs ( scheduled jobs) for which we will have a Java Application running in Z/OS (Unix zSeries). This Java Application will connect to our database(DB2) and retrieve data which should be filled in the report design(template).
1.Can the .rpt file have the design alone(without the data from database).?
2.Can we fill the data from the database using the .rpt file in a Java Application using an API ?
3.Can we export this file(report with data) to a text file with a specific character encoding.?
All the above has to be done using a Java Application that will run in a Z/OS(Unix Environment).
4.Is Java API for the above operations available as a .jar file that can be included in our classpath in UNIX Environment ?
I request you all to help me with these queries as soon as possible.
    Million Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
It seems that you are having issue with Crystal reports Java SDK's.
Post your question in Java Development - Crystal Reports forum.
That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there. Also, all Java Development queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
    Thank you for your understanding

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to embed a crystal report in a Dashboard Design using LiveOffice 4, and i am getting the below error.
"An error occurred while opening the report. The report does not exist; you have insufficient rights to open the report; or you cannot make a connection to the BusinessObjects Web Service. (LO 02010)" and "Crystal Reports Java Format is not supported. (LO 26631)"
I am logging in as an administrator and the report does exist in the CMC.
    Pls. Help
    Thanks
    Asiri

    Hi Amit,
    Thanks for replying.
We did a upgrade from BOBJ 3.1 to 4.0 recently, and need to migrate the existing dashboards. DB connections to the reports have changed, hence the need to embed the migrated reports to the dashboard.
Yes, I get this error when i try to embed a crystal report in dashboard. I do get the same error when trying to embed a WEBi report too. As you suggested, i tried inserting a sample crystal report, and that inserts like a charm.
    Pls. advice.
    thanks

  • Crystal Report 11, List of Runtime DLLs, Runtime.hlp File

I am using Crystal Report 11 with my Delphi 7 application.
I need the list of runtime dlls which I will need to distribute with my application.
The Help file which comes with the Delphi 7 VCL Component (UCRPE32.hlp) says :
    QUOTE
    check RUNTIME.HLP in the Program Files\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports\Developer Files\Help folder
and make sure you have all the files.
    UNQUOTE
I could not find the RUNTIME.HLP file in any folder/subfolders on the machine  where Crystal Report 11 has been installed.
Can somebody tell me where I can find RUNTIME.HLP file or the list of runtime DLLs which is required to be distributed
along with my application(which is written in Delphi 7).
        Thanks in advance

    Hello Ramesh,
Business Objects does not support manual deployment of their runtime files.  This started with the release of CR XI (v11.0).  Please see [Business Objects Note 1218571|https://bcp.wdf.sap.corp/sap/sapnotes/display/0001218571] - How to distribute the Report Designer Component (RDC) in Crystal Reports XI for more information.
You may also want to review the RDC deployment article - [Creating an RDC Distribution Package|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/901c0761-cf1d-2b10-dea4-8e83937a9337] - that can be found on the SAP web site as well.
The RDC merge modules do not include the CRPE32.dll.  Since you're using the VCL you'll probably have to add that file manually to your deployment package.
The merge module links in these articles have probably changed.  Go to the [Business Objects Support Software Download|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm] page to find the RDC merge modules.
Change the Selection Criteria to this:
    Software Product: Crystal Reports
Product Version: XI, XI Release 1, or XI Release 2 (depending on your version of Crystal Reports)
    Software Type: Utility
You should also be aware of the fact that the VCL is not being updated any longer.  I think the XI (v11.0) version is the last one that will be available.  Additionally, the Report Designer Component (RDC) has been retired with the release of CR 2008.  Going forward you'll have to migrate to .NET SDK or the Crystal Report Java SDK.
    I hope this helps,
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Error when running Crystal Reports Viewer

    Hello,
Has anyone come across this error before when opening the crystal report viewer?
'The CrystalReportsViewer executable launcher was unable to locate its companion launcher jar'
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Kate

Moving to Crystal Reports forums - the "Crystal Reports Viewer" desktop application is built on the Crystal Reports Java SDK, but it's not a SDK issue.
The launcher executable just can't find the internal files it needs for its operation.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Wingdings not exported correctly in PDF by Crystal Reports XI JRC in Linux

I have a report that contains checkmark and scissor character from Wingdings/Wingdings 2. The PDF file is generated via a program using Crystal Reports' Java Reporting Component. When I am testing it in my machine (Windows), the checkmark and scissors characters are shown correctly. But using our Linux Redhat server generates a "P" instead of the checkmark and a quotation mark instead of the scissors.
With the thought that Crystal Reports XI JRC do font indexing instead of subsetting/embedding, my idea was that there was no installed Wingdings font in the Linux server. I've replicated the case in my Windows machine by removing the Wingdings font.
With that knowledge, I've installed the Wingdings (*.ttf files) font in the Linux server and executed commands like ttmkfdir (as instructed in some tutorials). I've verified that in Applications -> Preference -> Fonts that the Wingdings fonts are selectable. But when I generated again my PDF file, the correct fonts are still not rendered correctly. Is there anything more I need to do for the JRC to recognize the Wingdings font in Linux.
Migrating to the Crystal Reports for Eclipse released last Jan 2009 is not a possible option.

First check is to ensure the Java JVM can see the font.  The Java SDK comes with the JFC demo Font2DTest.  Do the fonts show up there?
Note that the Java JRE has a lib/fonts directory, where you can place TrueType fonts that the JRE then would use.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • XML Report in Crystal Report Viewer

I'm trying to see a report build with crystal report XI release 2 in my jsp page using java reporting component, this report uses an xml file as datasource; I'm developing with websphere 5.1.1 i have the following error:
JRCAgent1 detected an exception: javax.xml.namespace.QName: method getPrefix()Ljava/lang/String; not found
    can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    i solved this problem with an upgrade of java runtime libs, but i can't say you what jar exactly 'cause this was made but another developer;
i could only say you that this error don't depend from Crystal Report Java Reporting Component Jars cause i use still the same Jars so try to update your java packages

  • Cannot Install Crystal Reports for Eclipse v2.0 on Mac OSX

I've tried to install the Crystal Reports plug-in to my Eclipse environment without any success.  No matter what I try, I get the same error message:
"Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Missing requirement: 1271104370856 0.0.0.1271104370856 requires 'com.businessobjects.crystalreports.integration.eclipse.feature.feature.group [2.0.6.r916]' but it could not be found"
To the best of my knowledge, I've installed all the correct pre-requisites listed on the SAP website.  I've tried every search I can think of and have found nothing that helps.
I'm at my wits end...please help!

Note that the Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0 plugin is not supported nor tested on MacOS, regardless of version.
Feedback I've gotten is that the installation fails for the embedded designer components.
The Crystal Reports Java SDK runtime components - the library used to run rpt files on desktop of web apps using Java - is supported and tested on MacOS 10.5
You'll note that the Supported Platform guide for CR4E 2.0 is specific in listing support only for the Runtime.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda
