  • Connecting Agilent DSO3062A Oscilloscope with LabVIEW using USB

I am trying to connect Agilent DSO3062A Oscilloscope with LabVIEW using USB but the device is not recognized by MAX. I have installed the drivers for scope and it works fine with the scope software. The problem is LabVIEW dosen't recognize the scope. Please tell me the procedure of setting up the scope with LabVIEW 8.2. I am using Windows XP.

    Hi there,
I think the issue is that the DSO3062A will not be recognized by LabView as a GPIB instrument through the USB connection. If you check out the 3000 series manual (http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/D3000-97016.pdf) you'll notice on page 8 it says you can't use the USB for programming, it can only be used with their scope software. You need the N2861 module installed on the back to connect via GPIB, and then a GPIB interface to your computer. I hope that helps.

    Saludos

  • Labview : No USB communication with the DLN-2 adapter board.

    Hi,
I am trying to use a Diolan DL2-N USB to I2C/SPI/GPIO adapter (https://diolan.com/dln2). This manufacturer provides Labview drivers for the board as well as example VIs. I just want to use them to access to all interfaces via Labview. After that I will design a test setup for our last product line using this adapter board.
    What i did:
    1) Fresh install of Labview 2014 (evaluaton version). System: DELL Precision M6800 (i7) , Windows 7 Professional SP1.
    2) Install NI VISA drivers and NI-488.2 drivers (14.0).
    3) Install manufacturer drivers as explained in NI website.
    4) Run Labview.  I can see instrument driver VIs under the Function Palette and run example VIs. So far, ok (I guess)
    5) Run NI MAX. No USB ports listed. Only COM1 and LPT1 (printer port).
    6) I ran some windows test apps provided by the manufacturer to access to all the interfaces of the NXP microcontroller in the DLN2. Everything works. I can read analog/digital inputs, force digital out values and use the SPI and I2C (I see the SPI/I2C frame sin a scope).
I have spent one day going through different links in NI website (have watcheing almost every demo video on the site) and still are not able to guess why Labview can't see my USB device.
    Any hint?
    Regards,
    Jose
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi again:
I' m putting pressure on the manufacturer to provide support, but still I have some very basic questions that I think a Labview expert should be able to answer.
Attached are the driver files provided by the manufacturer along with install instructions (which I do not fully understand). I assume the iinstall description is based on a standard procedure to install third party instrument drivers , but still don't know what to do with the dln.net.dll file (I just copied it in the /Labview 2014/instr folder). Any hint?
The manufacturer website says that the driver has been developed for Labview 2012 . I' m using Labview 2014, and assuming backward compatibility. Is that correct?.
One more question: Is there a way of seeing within Labview which third party instrument drivers do you have installed?
    Regards
    Jose

  • How to generate a bipolar pulse train in LabView using USB DAQ 6211?

    Hi,
I am setting up a system to generate either a single square pulse or a train of square pulses using LabView, with controls to adjust the frequency, amplitude, number of pulses etc. I have had a lot of help from NI tech support setting up the actual VI itself which seems to be working fine, and outputting the pulses via a USB DAQ 6211 using a square waveform generator and the AO1 channel on the DAQ.
The problem that I now have is that I need to pulses generated in a train to be bipolar (as they are connected to electrodes so need to be bipolar o avoid salt build up on the electrodes from the voltage going in one direction only, at least that is how I understand it!).
How can I set up my LabView VI to generate a bipolar pulse train instead of always being positive voltage? I am new to this area and so am trying to learn but there is so much to learn!
    Thanks,
    spamjam

    Hi Shalini,
Apologies for taking a while to get back to you, I hope I can explain what it is that we need to create with the pulses. I understand what you mean about the existing pulses having a positive and negative on the graph - but we need the pulses to start from a resting voltage and the first pulse to be positive, then back to zero, then the second pulse to be negative then back to zero etc. This is to do with reversing the direction of the current between two electrodes to prevent build up of salts on one electrod from the current always passing in the same direction.
I have attached a .Tif file to this post to try to illustrate what I mean - the top picture shows how the pulses are currently generated, then bottom on is what we would like to produce if this is possible?
    Thanks for your help,
    Spamjam

  • Taking a picture in LabVIEW with USB camera

    Hello:
I am trying to find a way to use a Logitech USB camera (or potentially a different USB camera - perhaps a more expensive Edmund Optics camera) to snap a picture in LabVIEW. I have NI Vision software installed as well as the IMAQ USB extension for Vision, but I'm not sure where to go from here. All I need to be able to do is to snap a photo within LabVIEW and have LabVIEW save it onto the hard drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi Brad,
Some of the information in the thread linked above may be out of date.
Check out this article [Acquiring Images in LabVIEW Using a USB or an IEEE1394 (FireWire) Camera] for some advice on how to snap your pictures. If you already have the NI-IMAQdx drivers, you should be able to use these for acquisition (as long as the USB camera is DirectShow compliant).
If you do not have the NI-IMAQdx drivers, but you do have the Vision Development Module you will be able to download the Vision Acquisition Software which includes these drivers. The vision acquisition software can be found here: http://www.ni.com/nisearch/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/tech/lang/en/pg/1/sn/catnav:du,n8:13.79.7820,ssnav:s...
    I hope this helps!

  • LabVIEW 7 USB Camera

Has anyone tried to use the new USB functions in LabVIEW 7 to capture an image from a USB camera?

    Hey JVS,
You can try and use the NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras driver to bring the images in, but this driver requires that the USB image device have DirectShow support.
If this does not work for you, then the hardware that you would like to use has to have some form of API that LabVIEW can communicate with. If it does, then you can just use a call library function node to call into the Pinacle software for it to return images to LabVIEW. Or you can try to use ActiveX to bring in the images. Last, you could check with the hardware manufacturer to see if they have any LabVIEW support or VI's that will allow their hardware to work with LV.
If the above doesn't work for you, then you might have to save the images to disk and then use the Vision Software to open the images from the files. Or you could display them by using native LabVIEW functions.
I hope this helps. Please let us know what your final solution is, so that others who would like to interact the same hardware with LabVIEW will be able to find a solution easily. Also, let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks, and have a great day.

National Instruments has a great library of drivers for various instruments. Most of these include programming examples.
The drivers are searchable at www.ni.com/devzone/idnet

  • Does LabVIEW have USB Support?

Can I read/write to a USB port using LabVIEW?

    Hi
USB is a bus. You cannot write/read to/from the PCI bus through LV, and the same is with USB. There are no read/write VI's. It's not to compare with RS232, where you have read/write VI's in LV.

  • LabVIEW and "USB to 1-wire" (DS2490)

I have made an "USB to 1-wire adapter" using DS2490. I can communicate with the DS2490 using USB standard requests, but I'm having a hard time getting data from the device attached to the DS2490 (i.e. DS1820). I'm using LabVIEW 7express.

    Hi,
I did a little searching around on the Dallas Semiconductor website, and from App Note 177, it looks like the driver has a TMEX and OWCOM API. You can probably implement code to communicate to your hardware and then access that code via Call Library Function nodes or .NET calls in LabVIEW.
Also, I'm not sure how different the 2-wire communication protocol is to the 1-wire, but DS has App Node 215 with example VIs to show how communication to a 2-wire device can be done. If you have the control commands for the device, you can also just write your own VISA commands (as that App Note 215 demonstrates) to communicate to your device. There are also a couple VISA examples that ship with LabVIEW for you to take a look at.
Hopefully some of this will be helpful. Good luck.

  • Not receiving any signal input with LabVIEW SE, USB DAQ board

    Hello all, good afternoon.
I am having a little trouble with my DAQ device, I hope that someone will be able to help me.
I'm plugging a BNC pH sensor to a NI USB 6251 M-series board, to try and obtain the electrical response of that particular sensor, measuring the voltage output for each buffer solution (pH 4 and 7). Have 9.2.3 mx (lastest) drivers.
The pH sensor (floating) is plugged through a female BNC plug to the circuit board, signal is going through a signal conditioning  circuit (composed by a voltage follower on each of the wires to lower the output impedance of the sensor, and 2 bias resistors from AI+ and AI- connected to AI GND with the board case wired to the power supply ground, as seen in http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4494)
I'm measuring in differential mode, as I said both wires of the sensor are going through a voltage follower each, and into the DAQ board. The Op-amps are being powered by +-15v as seen, again, in http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4494
I did take the time to read the manuals and tutorials I found, did quite a bit of investigation over the last few days, and wired the system carefully.
In labview signal express, I choose to take an analog voltage read, and select input range from -500mv to 500mv, because the sensor should output at most -400mv to 400 mv
Now, much to my dismay labview registers in that channel absolutely nothing, only a little noise (~1 mV). I unplug the sensor and realise that whether the sensor is connected or not, it doesn't make a difference in the presented output - it's as if it the sensor wasn't there at all. And yes, I am measuring the correct channel. I tried connecting the wires to different AI channel pairs as well, could be a faulty one, but no success either.
If I plug a voltimeter to the wires that are going into the analog inputs (after conditioning), it measures about 50 mV, which is a lot more than the 1 mV the board is measuring, but a lot less than the ~180 mV I should be measuring with a pH 4 buffer solution.
I know for a fact the problem is not the sensor, and the DAQ board seems to be fully operational.
I think it might have to do with the signal conditioning I'm doing, or some sort of configuration with the hardware of the DAQ board.
So, any idea what I might be missing?
I'm a week behind schedule because of this, hopefully I will find my answer here.
Thank you very much in advance!

    Good afternoon.
Yes I have tried all of that. The board responds very well when a flat 5V DC voltage is fed into a channel.
However after much investigation I believe to have found the problem yesterday, it probably has to do with the operational amplifiers I was using. The input bias current was in the magnitude of nanoAmps, while for pH measurements an IBC of picoAmps or less is necessary due to the high impedance of the sensor. This was causing a drift of over 100 mV on my output which is about 2 pH and thus unnacceptable (even though I had the Bias resistors at the input to ground, like suggested in the NI tutorials, but apparently they were not enough to compensate for the high IBC).
In the lab all available op-amps suffer from this, even Instrumentation op-amps like AMP04 from Analog Devices. I still haven't had a chance to acquire new op-amps with the necessary IBC but hopefully it will do the trick. Makes sense since I checked the datasheets for every op-amp in the lab, and they all had IBC around 400 nanoAmps (and none of them worked), while every single op-amp for every pH meter circuit I found have IBC's of pico/femtoAmps.
The sensor I'm using is from AquaMedic, I'm not sure what the model is, but it's a cheap plastic sensor that comes bundled with their pH Computers.
Thank you very much for your input.
