Configuration of gcc in sun solaris developer express edition

hai,
from where, i can download the suitable gcc and how to configure it?

There's a version of gcc in /usr/sfw/bin/gcc. I can't think of anything that you'd need to "configure" on it.

  • How  to configure the network on Sun Solaris 8

The Sun workstation is a license server, and Window NT workstation need to access the license file that located in the sun workstation.
Now the Window NT workstation cannot connect with the sun solaris, and I guess that I need to configure the network on Sun Solaris 8.
Could you please tell me how to do that step by step?
If there is the system tool like the window system to configure the network easily and quickly.
    I appreciate it.
    Mark

If your sun system is working then probably it has network configured already .You can check it by the following command on the sun.
    ifconfig -a
Generally applications asks where license server is located and you need to give the ip-address or host name only . Application docs will give more detail about it.
You can get ip-address from ifconfig comand above.

  • Solaris 10 express developer ed. dvd checksum error

    Hi,
I downloaded the solaris 10 express developer ed. dvd. I used Sun Download manager for the download. the file e had checksum error. Hence the DVD contains checksum error. Is there any way we could correct the download without the need re-download the entire file. Other files ending a,b,c,e dont have this problem. Am i the only one getting this problem or is it a known issue?
    with regards,
    ashwin

Sorry there is no real way to solve this other than downloading the last segment of the file.

  • How to configure tape to sun solaris server?

    Hi
We have a tape "Quantum Super DLT 600 tape drive" connected to Sun solaris 9 and working properly.
Now we want to connect and configure it to Sun solaris 10 server. I want to know how we can do it?
I checked in st.conf file , "#tape-config-list=" is commented in both solaris 9 while in solaris 10 it is not there.
I think i will just have to connect the tape to new srver(solaris 10) and do a reconfiguration boot. Right??
Also, what do i need to do for connecting the tape back to solaris 9 server.
    Thanks

You really don't need to reboot the server. Connect the tape to the server and type devfsadm -Cv. Then type dmesg and check whether Solaris detect the tape or not.
if not do a reboot and see.
after doing one of above, insert a tape to the tape drive and type "mt stat" and see you got any output about a tape.
Refer Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 System Administration Guides.

I'm getting an error when trying to build the BDB library on Sun Solaris 10, bdb 4.5.20. I download the .tar.gz file, untar it to /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.5 directory. Then I cd to /build_unix directory and enter in command: ../dist/configure --enable-cxx  (im using a c++ application for bdb).  Then after this build process, I enter make and I get an error of:

Sorry to reply to my own post but this may help someone else.
The problem is that the Solaris 10 Express install doesn't install the /kernel/misc/sparcv9/kbtrans module. I just copied it before I rebooted after the first CD install.
    (1) At the <Press Return to reboot the system> {"!" exits} prompt, enter "!"
    (2) The new root partition will be mounted as /a.
    (3) Copy the kbtrans file
    cp -p /kernel/misc/sparcv9/kbtrans /a/kernel/misc/sparcv9/kbtrans
    (4) Reboot
This is just a workaround - Sun needs to fix the install.

  • Gcc 4 on solaris 9 breaks my code

    Hi!
I recently upgraded from gcc 3.4 to gcc 4.0.1 and previously working code now core dumps with segmentation fault.
Basically, I have an application that loads several shared libraries. These libraries use dlsym() to find function symbols in the other loaded libraries. Now, when on shared library goes to invoke
a function in another shared library, I get a segmentation fault. The addresses seem to be getting slightly mangled.
    I'm coding on solaris 9 sparcv9.
Has anyone seen something like this and fixed it? Was I getting lucky with gcc?
The same code works on GNU/Linux and win32.
    Thanks,
    Bobby

Yes, I've been using GNU tar, (Sun's native tar complains about checksum and aborts).
I also checked that in the source tree and found that there are 2 files whose names end with ".hp" rather than ".hpp". I copied those to ".hp" files to ".hpp".
But now I'm encountering different problems entirely, complains about the gmp, mpfr and libiconv of being wrong ELF class.
I've been using gcc 3.4.6 from sunfreeware.com as well as the latest gmp, mpfr and libiconv, all were supposedly compiled by gcc 3.4.6.
I tried rebuilding gmp etc., but then configure complains

    Hey,
Help needed on installation of Oracle 9i EE on Sun Solaris 8. The problem I met was: we followed the installation guide from the documentation. And we selected the choice "install software only". After it was done successfully, we run Database Configuration Assistant utility to create a database instance. But finally it always tried to create the instance at the root directory ( / ) which doesn't have enough space and then failed. The case was that we have set the enviroment parameters: $ORACLE_BASE = /export/mydata, $ORACLE_HOME = /export/apps/oracle9i. That means it should be installed at /export/mydata, but it didn't. Any help or advice are welcome. Thanks.

I have downloaded Oracle 11G R2 version from Windows and extracted it in Windows and copied it into DVD after extraction in two folders. Now I am mounting that DVD in Solaris 10 installed in my VMware . I made a new directory named as 'installation ' under /export/home/oracle and copied the folders from DVD to 'installation' folder. Now I am entering installation folder and try to do ./runInstaller as 'oracle ' user and getting the error mentioned before.

I had similar problems several months ago. I suspect this happens when host pc does not have floppy drive(or bios somehow misreports it) as it was in my case. Solaris 8 seems to work fine in the same environment, so I keep using it for now. Possible workaround might be to use DCA from Solaris 8: Installation of Sol9 started just fine after I entered Sol8 DCA and asked it to boot from Sol9 CD.
Hope this problem will be fixed in subsequent Sol9 releases.
