Configuration profile deployment confirmation

Hi guys
Kinda need your help
What I need is a way to remotely deploy the profile to the end user. What I understand is, I can use an exchange server or come up with my own SCEP server. My question is: after I clicked the sync button, how am i supposed to know if the device(iphone) actually get the profile? and how do i know the installation of the profile succeeded? Does the sync server just tell you if profile went through or installed?
I don't have an exchange server or a SCEP server. So, my question might be a dumb question. In that case, forgive me...
But, I do need some help
Thx in advance

Dear,
Deletion of configuration profiles without engineering change management is only possible if no configured objects (such as sales orders) exist.
Go to CU42 enter the material and click on delete SHIFT+F2
Or go to profile Overview Screen and then changed the Status to "Locked"
Please refer the OSS  Note 184514 - Deleting configuration profiles with ECM.

  • 0x87D11388 when deploying iOS Configuration Profile

    I am trying to deploy a Configuration Profile from the iPhone Configuration Utility, and then import it to Microsoft Intune.
    In Intune, i can see it fails with the error code 0x87D11388. But I can not find anything on this.
    My Configuration Profile only contains WiFi-settings:
    Thanks
    Mr. Thomas

    Hi,
    I haven't tried that actually but the error translates to:
    "iOS device is currently busy" which doesn't help much either, does it work with other profiles or is it just this one?

  • Iphone configuration utility profile deployment problem.

    We are currently try to deploy a profile to 1500 new iphones, we have cjhoosen to do this via the web and have created a configuration profile.
    we want to have one profile for all users, so on the exchange tab of the profile we have left all fields blank except for the exchange activesync host field
    when we go to the website we are prompted to install the profile which is ok but instead of being prompted for a user name and email address we are just prompted for a password??
    obviously we can not connect as it hasnt prompted us for a user name.

    we have now found what seems to be causing this.
    there appears to be a bug in the software that if you leave the email field blank it doesnt remove the email field from the XML file. this has to be removed manually
    As soon as you do this the auto deployment works.
    the only issue with this is you can not sign your config profile as when you manually remove the line in question it breaks the authenticity.

  • Configuration Profile Code-Signing Certificates

    Today, I learned that the Code-Signing Certificate used for signing Device Configuration Profiles is _different_ (and much more expensive) than the SSL Certificate used by other Lion Server services.
    I understand that these certificates follow a trust _chain_, and that Lion Server creates a default Code-Signing certificate based on the self-signed certificate it creates during setup. Since then, I've replaced my self-signed SSL Cert with a fully verified one.
    How can I use OpenSSL to create a Code-Signing certificate based on my purchased SSL Certificate, just like Lion Server did?

    You must obtain a code-signing cert from a trusted authority or it won't be trusted by any of your clients.
    ** Code-signing your profiles is kind of pointless if you're a small business or school. This is only useful if you're a large enterprise (or maybe a college or university) deploying profiles to many devices and are worried about tampering. A signed SSL cert more useful than a code-signing cert.
    ** (This is totally my opinion but that's how I see it. Code-signing certs allow your clients to determine that the code is in fact from you and it hasn't been altered in transit to the client. If this is really a concern for you then you would need to obtain a cert from a trusted authority, but I bet it's not...)

  • Problems installing Configuration Profile

    We're deploying iPhones at the plant, and I'm trying to pre-configure them, using the iPhone Configuration Utility. I've created a couple of Configuration Profiles, but cant seem to get them to install. The test phone is an iPhone 4, running IOS 5.The phone has been activated by the carrier, but not configured. I'm running the Configuration Utility on an iMac, under OS X 10.6.8.
    When I attach the iPhone, via the USB connector, it show up under devices. When I go to the Configuration Profiles tab and click the "Install" button for a Profile, either nothing happens or I get an error message saying "Invalid Profile". Haven't been able to find any useful help elsewhere on line, so hoping someone here has some wisdom for me.
    Thanks,
    Don

    nothing concrete, sorry, however, this may help. it has worked for me...
    1, wipe and restore the phone.
    2, build a brand new config file and try installing that instead.

  • Installing Configuration Profile via Web

    We would like to implement some iPhones in the company.
    We want more soon iphone `s roll-out and configuration transfer via USB is very cumbersome.
    Can I device configuration automatically install on an iphone?
    I read somewhere something about a Profile Web Service.
    How can I use the web for automatic distribution of configuration profiles?
    If so, where can I find extended tutorial or a script.
    I have little knowledge of web + xml.
    the enterprise deployment guide is very limited and generally

    I create an iphone site with iwebkit.Its is very good kit to create high quality iphone sites. (iwebkit.net)
    This site allows mobile users to download files.
    It is perhaps a solution for other people with this problem.

  • Distributing iPhone Configuration Profiles: Safari Error

    Hello,
    I created a configuration profile using iPhone Configuration Utility that I emailed and successfully installed on an iPhone 3G 2.0.
    I copied (via scp) the same file to server running Mac OS X 10.5.2. When I first downloaded the profile (named CP-V.mobileconfig) using Safari, the iPhone displayed the raw XML of the profile. Re-reading the Enterprise Deployment Guide, I added the proper MIME type: "AddType application/x=apple-aspen-config mobileconfig" and reloaded Apache.
    Now, the iPhone displays "Safari can't download this file".
    Apache logs no error and logs the access:
    ... "GET /iphone/CP-V.mobileconfig HTTP/1.1" 200 4005
    Any suggestions for how to debug this?
    -- Tom Kishel

    I had the same problem and after a lot of head scratching I finally figured out that I had my MIME type set incorrectly.
    Mine was set to "application/x-appleaspen-config" rather than "application/x-apple-aspen-config".
    Once I made that change the profile worked like a charm.
    To check mime types you can use the www.web-sniffer.net service. Select "Request type: HEAD" to see the http response header only.

  • Configuration Profiles Disappear then Reappear on Managed Devices

    Running OS X 10.9.1 and Server 3.0.1 and using Profile Manager extensively.  I am noticing on a regular basis that my MDM configuration profiles on both iOS and OS X devices frequenty disapear from my device/devices and then reapear eventhough I have done nothing in profile manager.  It is asthough PM pulls the profiles and then pushes them again.  This issue is happening on multiple servers I administer and on sev ers that were a fresh install and upgraded from Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and Server 2.2.2.
    Anyone else having this issue?  Any solution to speak of?
    I have reported this as a bug to Apple (Bug ID: 15699250) but true to fasion Apple has only asked for my Profile Manager logs and are now silent on the issue.  All these bugs with Profile manager have renedered it useless to me and can not upgrade any of my clients until Apple does something to fix it.  Profile Manager on Mountain Lion was far more useable than current release.  Are others having the same experience?
    Thank you.

  • Can I install more than one configurator profile

    I want to develop 3 or maybe 4 layers of iPad iOS8 restrictions & Passcode rules.
    For example ALL iPads will have enforced Passcode rules, but only SOME iPads ill require content filtering & SOME require Control centre in lock mode.
    The actual working groups of iPads require a lot more complicated set of config elements - above is only an example.
    I'd like to create & install different profiles & INSTALL MORE THAN ONE PROFILE.
    I have tested this on a few iPads & it seems to work.
    My question is - Is this the recommended way / is there a problem if i install more that one profile ?
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Kind Regards
    George kennedy.

    We install many configuration profiles on each of our devices. We only use one payload per configuration profile so that we can be very granular with our configurations. What I don't know is what would happen if you installed 2 configuration profiles with conflicting restrictions (i.e. one configuration profile allows Messages, and another does not allow Messages). We just make sure we install only one restrictions configuration profile, and then a bunch of other configuration profiles (mail and calendar settings, web clips, WiFi profiles, etc) on each device.
    Hope this helps!
    ~Joe

    I was not able to find profile manager on my employer's installation of 10.6 Server. Is this only a feature of 10.7/10.8 server?

    10.6 server does not have profile manager, profile manager is only available in 10/7 and 10.8 server
    for 10.6 server you'll need to use wgm and server admin
    printer management with 10.6, I recommend you read the relevant server manuals regarding

    I’m not seeing an option to add this option when I edit the configuration profile within Apple Configurator.

    Profile Removal Password Payload
    The Removal Password payload is designated by specifying com.apple.profileRemovalPassword value as the PayloadType value.
    A password removal policy payload provides a password to allow users to remove a locked configuration profile from the device. If this payload is present and has a password value set, the device asks for the password when the user taps a profile's Remove button. This payload is encrypted with the rest of the profile.

    Is this recommended for deploying Java web apps to Oracle App Server 10g?
    We currently have a consulting firm that is recommending to configure the web app before deploying. Sounds reasonable, except that they want this done via JDeveloper so that the Sys Admin can right click on the "deploy to OAS" button (ie: have the tools generate the .war file after configuration and deploy automagically).

    Thanks for your feedback.
    Are you aware of any way to use the *.deploy configuration file that is created by JDeveloper in an ANT script to create the .war or .ear file?
    If not, I can picture the Sys Admin and developers groaning when they're told that they're JDeveloper web-app configuration cannot be used for production -- and that they must somehow duplicate that functionality in an ANT script!
    I do have the below ANT scripts from Debu to do the deployment etc. But they only help after the .ear is built.
    EAR file deployment:
    <target name="deploy" depends="core">
    <java jar="${j2ee.home}/admin.jar" fork="yes">
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.ormi}"/>
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.username}"/>
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.password}"/>
    <arg value="-deploy"/>
    <arg value="-file"/>
    <arg value="${this.build}/${this.ear}"/>
    <arg value="-deploymentName"/>
    <arg value="${this.application.name}"/>
    </java>
    </target>
    Web application binding:
    <target name="bind-web-app" depends="deploy">
    <java jar="${j2ee.home}/admin.jar" fork="yes">
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.ormi}"/>
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.username}"/>
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.password}"/>
    <arg value="-bindWebApp"/>
    <arg value="${this.application.name}"/>
    <arg value="${this.war}"/>
    <arg value="http-web-site"/>
    <arg value="/${this.uri}"/>
    </java>
    </target>
    Undeployment:
    <target name="undeploy" depends="init">
    <java jar="${j2ee.home}/admin.jar" fork="yes">
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.ormi}"/>
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.username}"/>
    <arg value="${oc4j.deploy.password}"/>
    <arg value="-undeploy"/>
    <arg value="${this.application.name}"/>
    </java>
    </target>
