Configure Database Vault on PeopleSoft
hi,
We have a customer who needs to have row level secuirity and some secuirity features (data encryption) to be implemented in PeopleSoft. Since PeopleSoft Does not directly do Data encryption or Do raw level access controll, the best option is to have advanced secuirity and Database Vault to be installed in the database. but these are options to
database enterprise edition. PeopleSoft Enterprise comes bundled with the database. So how do we license the Options? and also are these row level secuirity and data encryption
transparent to the PeopleSoft Applications?
sashika.
Hi Paul,
I have tried your suggestion and I am not sure if I did not understand your suggestion, or if it does not work, as the "Power" users do not have access to the "Special" schema data, which is what we whanted, but unfortunetly they do not have the same priviliges/rights as if the dva had never been installed which is the requirement i.e. create new users, manage TDE keys, expdp, etc. I can only assume that you also meant that I should restore the revocked priviliges? but will this not be the equivalent of not having installed the DBV for the "Special" schema I am trying to protect ? i am not sure how to proceed at this stage.
So I think I may require some help regarding the realm to be created around the 'special' schema. Is it just a matter or creating a normal realm? were all objects in the schema are protected, or do I need to generate a very complex realm to protect the schema because of having turn off all other default dbv realms?
Do you have any suggestion on this?
I have also been ask (Instructed, is probably a better word) to ensure that the realm stops all users, except the realm owner, and the dbv owner from having access to the schema object definitions i.e. no user shall be able to view table, procedure, view, package, function, etc definitions? I am not sure if this is possible or how to achieve this?
Any suggestions are very welcome.
Thank you
Daniel

Schema export via Oracle data pump with Database Vault enabled question
Hi,
I have installed and configured Database Vault on an Oracle 11g-r2-11.2.0.3 to protect a specific schema (SCHEMA_NAME) via a realm. I have followed the following doc:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/security/twp-databasevault-dba-bestpractices-199882.pdf
to ensure that the sys and the system user has sufficient rights to complete a schedule Oracle data pump export operation.
I.e. I have granted to sys and system the following:
execute dvsys.dbms_macadm.authorize_scheduler_user('sys','SCHEMA_NAME');
execute dvsys.dbms_macadm.authorize_scheduler_user('system','SCHEMA_NAME');
execute dvsys.dbms_macadm.authorize_datapump_user('sys','SCHEMA_NAME');
execute dvsys.dbms_macadm.authorize_datapump_user('system','SCHEMA_NAME');
I have also create a second realm on the same schema (SCHEMA_NAME) to allow sys and system to maintain indexes for real-protected tables, To allow a sys and system to maintain indexes for realm-protected tables. This separate realm was created for all their index types: Index, Index Partition, and Indextype, sys and system have been authorized as OWNER to this realm.
However, when I try and complete an Oracle Data Pump export operation on the schema, I get two errors directly after the following line displayed in the export log:
Processing object type SCHEMA_EXPORT/TABLE/INDEX/DOMAIN_INDEX/INDEX:
ORA-39127: unexpected error from call to export_string :=SYS.DBMS_TRANSFORM_EXIMP.INSTANCE_INFO_EXP('AQ$_MGMT_NOTIFY_QTABLE_S','SYSMAN',1,1,'11.02.00.00.00',newblock)

ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_TRANSFORM_EXIMP", line 197
ORA-06512: at line 1
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA", line 9081
ORA-39127: unexpected error from call to export_string :=SYS.DBMS_TRANSFORM_EXIMP.INSTANCE_INFO_EXP('AQ$_MGMT_LOADER_QTABLE_S','SYSMAN',1,1,'11.02.00.00.00',newblock)

ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_TRANSFORM_EXIMP", line 197
ORA-06512: at line 1
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA", line 9081
The export is completed but with this errors.
Any help, suggestions, pointers, etc actually anything will be very welcome at this stage.
Thank youHi Srini,
Thank you very much for your help. Unfortunately after having followed the instructions of the DOC I am still getting the same errors ?
none the less thank you for your input.
I was also wondering if someone could tell me how to move this thread to the Database Security area of the forum, as I feel I may have posted the thread in the wrong place as it appears to be a Database Vault issue and not an imp/exp problem. ?

Grant Privileges in Database Vault for DATAPUMP.
HI,
I am using ORACLE DATABASE 11g R2.
I have installed/enabled DATABASE VAULT 11g on it.
I have configured many user in it for privileges like 'SELECT on table','INSERT on table' ,DELETE .....
I want to give a user DATAPUMP privilege so that he can export and import.
I have 2 users.
1) MAIN
2) BACKUP
MAIN user is the owner and the most important schema. Now i want one more schema named 'BACKUP' which will be able to take backup from MAIN schema. NO OTHER SCHEMA SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO TAKE BACKUP OF MAIN SCHEMA NOT EVEN SYS.
*Can anyone tell me how i can grant proper privilege to BACKUP schema so that he can use DATAPUMP and import/export from OS prompt on the MAIN schema.
NOTE :- I have Database vault installed on my server. Please let me know what all RULES or RULE SETS I need to make to make this happen.
Thanks in advance.I have managed with privileges to grant BACKUP user right to start an IMPORT but i get these errors while importing :-
Failing sql is:
CREATE TABLE "MAIN"."FLX_PM_OFFER_SELECTOR_B" ("USER_NAME" VARCHAR2(50 BYTE), "PRODUCT_GROUP" VARCHAR2(5 BYTE), "REFERENCE_NUM" VARCHAR2(30 BYTE) NOT NULL ENABLE, "SESSION_STATE" VARCHAR2(5 BYTE), "OFFER_FEATURES" BLOB, "RECOMMENDED_OFFERS" VARCHAR2(500 BYTE), "SELECTED_OFFERS" VARCHAR2(500 BYTE), "MAKER_NAME" VARCHAR2(12 BYTE), "MAK
ORA-39083: Object type TABLE:"MAIN"."FLX_PM_ACCOUNT_ROLE_FLOW" failed to create with error:
ORA-47401: Realm violation for CREATE TABLE on MAIN.FLX_PM_ACCOUNT_ROLE_FLOW
{code}
I am getting this error for all the objects :- SYSNONMY,SEQUENCE,
I have granted MAIN users all the privileges but still i am getting these errors. Do i need to create any realm or rule set for this?
Thanks. -
REG:Oracle Database Vault Implementation .
Hi ,
I want to Implement the Database Vault on my Oracle Applications(12.1.3) Database with 11.2 version .
My Database is monitored using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control , so should i have to again implement database console for that database in order to implement DB Vault ?
Regards .My Database is monitored using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control , so should i have to again implement database console for that database in order to implement DB Vault ?No need to configure anything until you will define any policy at DBSNMP account.
As OEM perform database monitoring by agent running on target which will make connectivity with DBSNMP account in database.
So if you're not doing anything on this account then monitoring will not get impacted. -
Sharepoint 2013 MP - Configuration Database connection failed
Hi all!
I run a WS2012 R2 with SCOM 2012R2. I'm trying to monitor Sharepoint 2013 Farm, with the Sharepoint 2013 MP. The Sharepoint farm and it's SQL server is on another domain, with two-way trust, and the agents are working on the Sharepoint and SQL servers.
I use SQL aliases for Sharepoint DB's, so I've made an override to the connection string to make it connect to the correct database.
The override is working fine, I can see that SCOM is trying to connect to the SQL server, but I cannot seem to make SCOM use the correct Run As account on these configuration databases. Most of the Sharepoint MP seems to be working fine, with the farm admin
account, but I don't know how I can force this override connectionString to use a specific user.
WS2012R2 with SCOM2012R2 UR3
Sharepoint 2013 Farm on WS2008R2 OS.
MS SQL 2012 on WS2008R2.
It uses the default SCOM monitoring account, instead of the Sharepoint RunAs account.
Any suggestions?
How do I make it use the correct Run As account?
(This guy has the
same problem)
Thanks,
NikolajI was looking at this issue not too long ago, and looked through the management pack xml, to see if there was a missing secure reference for DB connection monitors. I only glanced through the MP, but it looked to me as if the DB connection
monitors references the same account as the other sharepoint monitors. (Yes, that full-blown farm admin account). Again I am not sure, but it seems the management pack has trouble using the referenced RunAs account in the connection strings and then, because
the watcher node is setup default to run off the management server, it falls back to the management server action account.
You mention, that you have a two-way trust between you management group and SPS SQL servers. You could then bring this to work by granting your management server action account public rights on your configuration and content DB’s. Not
optimal, but it’s a workaround. For SPS 2013 this should work without changing the connection strings, as you would have to with SPS 2010.
I know this is not solution you’re are looking for, but it just might be enough for you to get a step further. I don’t know of any solution, so far, to get the DB connections to use the SPS RunAs account. -

Sharepoint server 2013 configuration issue - failed to create configuration database
Hi All,
I have installed the SharePoint server 2013. After installing the SharePoint products, the configuration stops at failure of creating configuration database.
Some system configuration & info:
- 1 Domain controller server run Active Directory services on Windows server 2008 R2 SP1 (PC1 with name DC.Brainfiniti.com)
- 1 Server which is used for installing Sharepoint server 2013 and MS SQL server 2008 R2 SP1 (PC2 with name App.Brainfiniti.com)
- All of PCs were satisfied the requirement of Sharepoint server 2013
- Firewall turned off & No antivirus tool was installed.
- During installing of Sharepoint, choose "Complete" option: Farm mode and use SQL Server instead of SQL Express.
- During configuration, created a new farm with a domain user account.
- Use domain account to log on and install, configure in Sharepoint & SQL server (PC2)
ATTEMPTS:
1. Tried install and set up all of steps with just 1 account - domain administrator.
2. Tried with separate domain account:
- SQL Service account use for:
+ Install SQL server 2008
+ Connect all SQL services
+ Admin for SQL server
- Setup account use for:
+ Member of local administrator group in PC2
+ Install Sharepoint
+ Run Configuration wizard
+ Was granted permission in SQL database: dbcreator, securityadmin, sysadmin and deselect serveradmin role.
+ Was choose for the database account in configuration database step
Also tried with SQL service account in this step.
3. Tried with Standalone mode for Sharepoint installing
4. Trie with domain name: Brainfiniti.local
5. Tried with some another solution from topic relate to database configuration in our community but not successful.
But all attempts are failed at this configuration database step :'(
Please correct me if I am going wrong by missing something or do I need to start/install some services.

Sorry! Cannot add screenshot because my account is still not verified. Will add later.

Configuring Database Security Store is failing
Guys,
I am trying to configure Database Security Store while installing 11gR2 (OIM, OAM, SOA) and wlst.sh script is failing. Here is the format I am giving.
$MW_HOME/oracle_common/common/bin/wlst.sh $ORACLE_HOME/common/tools/configureSecurityStore.py -d $IAM_DOMAIN_LOCATION -m create -c IAM -p $ORA_PASS
Here is the error message i am getting.
Problem invoking WLST - Traceback (innermost last):
File "/apps/Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_IDM1/common/tools/configureSecurityStore.py ", line 15, in ?
ImportError: no module named security
Please let me know how to resolve this issue.
PS: I created a new domain with 7002 for OIM, OAM & SOA as 7001 is being used by OID domain. And trying to run the above command with 7002 domain name and getting this error. This is a bug.
Run a search for wlst.sh in your environment and call the wlst.sh from oracle_common/common/bin not from wl_server/common/bin.
You can look for this (Doc ID 1493576.1) in Oracle support.

Sharepoint 2010 - configuration database size limit
Hi,
We have below scenario in our production farm. Ours is a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition server.
Medium size farm (4 WFE, 4 App Servers, Content DBs in separate tier. No SharePoint search in this farm)
Configuration DB reached 250+ GB. Please clarify below queries.
1. What is the boundary limit for configuration database size?
2. How we can scale the configuration database?
3. Can we add multiple configuration database per farm?
4. What are the best practices and regular maintenance activities to be done to keep the configuration db size under control?
It would be really really great if someone gives some good knowledge in this area.1) Not aware of one
2) You can add multiple files to the file group
3) No
Is the growth in the MDF or the LDF (log file)? If it is in the log file, are you using high availability (Clustering, Mirroring, Log Shipping, AlwaysOn)? If so, you need to run a BACKUP LOG periodically to maintain the LDF size, or allow you to truncate
the LDF.

Unable to Configure Database in ConsoleOne
PROBLEM
I can navigate to Tools->Zenworks Inventory->Configure Database, browse to
and select {server_name}_invDatabase. However, when I click OK the mouse
pointer just turns into an hourglass. The window wont close and accept
the change. You end up clicking Cancel with the hourglass to close the
window. You can right click on the {server_name}_invDatabase object in
eDir and choose Zenworks Inventory->Configure DB but when you attempt to do
a query or something a window pops up prompting you to first configure your
database.
SYSTEM
Netware 6.5 SP5.
ConsoleOne 1.3.6e with Zenworks 6.5.2 snapins (after upgrade, see below)
We were running Zenworks for Desktops 4 until I upgraded to Zenworks 6.5
SP1 about a year to year and a half ago. Some time after that the
Inventory functionality stopped. Im now trying to fix it.
ATTEMPTS TO FIX
1. I first applied Support Pack 2 for Zenworks 6.5. That didnt fix my
problem.
2. I then tried reinstalling the Inventory Service off the Zenworks 6.5
with SP1 CD, starting the Inventory service, and then reapplying SP2. That
didnt fix it.
3. I have followed the steps in Novell TID # 10097151. I actually had been
wondering which object was the correct one, if it was Inventory
Service_{server_name} or {server_name}_ZenInvService. After following
these steps I am seeing computers getting inventoried on the Inventory
Service console screen. That wasnt happening before. So this fixed one
of my problems but not all of them.
4. I then followed the steps in Novell TID #10097366. I confirmed the
usernames were set as shown and retyped the passwords. I even restarted
the Sybase (ASA) and Zen Inventory services at the console but that didnt
fix it.
5. I found this thread
(http://groups.google.com/group/novel...b931657601b01a)
in which other users were dealing with the same problem. I found an older
copy of InventorySnapins.jar as specified and tried it but that didnt fix it.
What can I try next? I really want to use Zenworks to hunt for old apps on
my network that were not using anymore.
And in a side note, where *do* you configure Zenworks to scan a workstation
for applications? The software scan tab of the workstation inventory
policy has a footnote saying these settings only apply to ZfD 3.2, 4, and
4.01. I checked the ZfD 6.5 SP2 manual and it says about the same thing
verbatim. However, neither one includes a helpful sentence telling you
*where* to set this if you are using Zenworks 6.5 or even referring to a
different chapter or section of the manual. Does Zenworks just assume that
if you want to inventory the hardware that you want the software
inventoried as well and just do it automatically?
Thanks in advance for your help!
MatthewI see. It seems there was a change in assumptions when Novell moved from
Zenworks 4 to 6.5. Previously it seems there was the assumption that since
desktop computers weren't that powerful it might overwhelm them to scan for
both hardware and software. Therefore, these options were put next to each
other so you could choose. In Zenworks 6.5 the assumption is that, since
client computers have become more powerful, if you're scanning the client
hardware you're going to want to scan the software as well. Therefore they
took away the use of the software tab and made it less obvious on how to
disable scanning.
Everything seems to be working for me now on Zenworks Inventory. It's been
inventorying for about 48 hours now and has updated most of my stale
records. I want to thank Shaun for all the posts he replies to on the
Zenworks newsgroups. I've seen his replies all over the place as I was
searching through Google Groups trying to fix this and they helped me fix my
problems.

Incorrect/Corrupt Farm Configuration database server name
I have a SharePoint 2007 farm (version 12.0.0.6219) with a corrupt configuration database (SQL Server 2008 R2) consisting of a Central Administration server and a database server for Windows SharePoint Services Database. In a failed attempt to move the configuration
database to a new SQL server, the farm is referring to a SQL server that no longer exists. All databases on the new SQL server have been successfully moved from the old SQL server, but SharePoint does not recognize the configuration database. The network name
of the old SQL server has been aliased to the never SQL server, so the farm is operational. But the
Servers in Farm page states the old server as the configuration database server.
After doing my own research, it appears to me the issue is in the Objects table in the
SharePoint_Config database below.

It looks like all I’d have to do delete row id’s ...E1F704E35A94 and ...45408E818ED5 (<red>red</red> row #’s 8 and 2) after shutting down all SharePoint Web Applications and services. Then update
Old SQL Server with New SQL Server. Possibly even deleting row ...B0EF78226512 (orange row # 3) could be done as it appears to be an orphaned part of the configuration. These ids are not referenced in any other table in this database.
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
P.S. Sorry it looks like my table rendering didn't work as intended.
----->Executive Vectorare you using the SQL alias to pointing to the Config Database server?
did you stop all the timers services, admin services other services before moving the Config DB and configuring the alias to new server.if you did not then it will corrupted.
If you are not using the SQL Alias and using the sql server name then you cannot move it.
you need to rebuild new farm with creation of new Config DB, then create SSP /Web apps and attached your content Database.
Directly playing with the Config Database is not a good idea at all and i am sure deletion is not supported in any means.
