Configure JBoss DataSource for DB2/400

I am trying to set up a connection pool data source for my AS/400 in JBoss 3.0, I have modified db2-service.xml and put it in my deploy folder:
<depends optional-attribute-name="ManagedConnectionFactoryName">
               <!--embedded mbean-->
               <mbean code="org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.RARDeployment" name="jboss.jca:service=LocalTxDS,name=DB2DS">
                    <attribute name="JndiName">DB2DS</attribute>
                    <attribute name="ManagedConnectionFactoryProperties">
                         <properties>
                              <config-property name="ConnectionURL" type="java.lang.String">jdbc:as400://myas400/MYDB;user=MYUSR;password=MYPASS</config-property>
                              <config-property name="DriverClass" type="java.lang.String">com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver</config-property>
                              <!--set these only if you want only default logins, not through JAAS -->
                              <config-property name="UserName" type="java.lang.String"/>
                              <config-property name="Password" type="java.lang.String"/>
                         </properties>
                    </attribute>
                    <!--Below here are advanced properties -->
                    <!--hack-->
                    <depends optional-attribute-name="OldRarDeployment">jboss.jca:service=RARDeployment,name=JBoss LocalTransaction JDBC Wrapper</depends>
               </mbean>
          </depends>
When I call DataSource.getConnection() i get the exception:
javax.resource.ResourceException: Apparently wrong driver class specified for URL: class: com.ibm.as400.access.AS400JDBCDriver, url: jdbc:as400://myas400/MYDB;user=MYUSR;password=MYPASS
Any help is appreciated!
Any links for configuring jboss would be great too.
Thanks in advance!

  • Configuring weblogic6.1 for db2 driver

    Hi all,
    I want to access DB2 database from a servlet running on weblogic6.1.But i am unable
    to configure weblogic 6.1 for DB2 driver.Going through the documentation for configuring
    weblogic third party drivers was of no help.when i run the program i get the error
    "no suitable driver found".
    Please post suggestions on how to configure weblogic6.1 for DB2 driver.
    Thank u in advance.

    Ramesh,
    We use code like the following to successfully connect to a connection pool:
    // put the pool name into a properties,
    // in the same way that you would put "user" and "password" in the properties
    dbproperties.put("connectionPoolID", mypoolName);
    Class.forName("weblogic.jdbc.pool.Driver").newInstance();
    myconnection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:weblogic:pool", dbproperties);
    It shouldn't be much different than the code you have where you get the driver
    and then connect directly. But, I do know that what we use works. Maybe the
    pool name has to be specified in the info properties, rather than in the url string.
    (that would be a simple and easy change to your code; to see if it worked.)
    Also, we have found that the CaSe of the DB2 driver name matters:
    COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver
    We also put the db2java.zip as the first item in the classpath. (I don't remember
    if that matters or not).

    If you can write a simple standalone java program to get a DB2 connection
    using the DB2 driver (without WebLogic in the picture). You will findout
    what URL and Driver name to use and what properties to pass to the
    driver.
    Specify these properties in the connection pool properties and make
    sure
    the DB2 driver is in the CLASSPATH when you boot the WebLogic server.

  • When configuring a datasource for Oracle using the thin client, I get an Oracle error.

    We have had no problems using Oracle up to this point, and have been using ColdFusion and Oracle very happily for a long time.
    Due to security requirements where the ColdFusion server is hosted, the following changes were made to the Oracle client on the Oracle RDMS machine which caused ColdFusion to be unable to connect.
    In the sqlnet.ora file, we had to add the follwing line:
    SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION = 10
    That parameter was required, it is not optional and we cannot lower it.
    Info about our ColdFusion Server:
    System Information
    Server Details
    Server Product
    ColdFusion
    Version
    ColdFusion 10,285437
    Edition
    Enterprise
    Operating System
    Windows Server 2008 R2
    OS Version
    6.1
    Update Level
    /D:/ColdFusion10/cfusion/lib/updates/chf10000011.jar
    Adobe Driver Version
    4.1 (Build 0001)
    We are using Oracle 11.2.0.3
    Once that change is in place, connections from our ColdFusion server get refused with the following error:
    ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol
    I have verified that I can connect to the database with our credentials, and verified that the connection is valid:
    From the local server's ODBC Data Source Administrator console, I create a system DSN using the Oracle OCI client driver (ojdbc6.jar) by indicating that the TNS Service name is the same as defined in the TNSNames file, and it tests out fine.
    Everything I have found on the net indicates that I would need to make a change to the Client, but the Client in this case is the ColdFusion server.  It doesn't seem like other than the fact that it seems to be using the correct driver, that it is making any use of any of the additional settings, including those found in the sqlnet.ora file.
    HELP!  I don't know where else to go... i don't believe that this is an Oracle error, since everything seems to be functioning correctly.  I believe this to be a ColdFusion issue.
    Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you VJ, however that didn't provide any help.  There are no pointers at all within that post.
    Please keep in mind that I don't believe this to be an Oracle issue.  The Oracle client is functioning fine when I use the ODBC tools in windows to verify the connection.
    I can google, "SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION = 10" and get a billion links that say basically nothing too.
    I believe this is the way ColdFusion is configured to use the Oracle drivers... Which is why I can't ask Oracle, they'd just tell me to go to Adobe!
    But, I have searched Oracle Support, and there wasn't much there either, so I am turning to the community in hopes that someone has seen this and solved it.

  • Migrate from db2/400 (V5R2) to Oracle

    Greetings!
    We are looking at helping a customer migrate their DB2/400 (V5R2M0) database to Oracle (planned for 10gR2).
    I see there is a Migration Workbench offering for the lower revisions (v4r3) as well as for DB2/UDB, however nothing for V5R2M0.
    There are over 1500 files (tables) to convert so we don't want to have to do a dump & load.
    Any suggestions?

    Jim,
    I work for a group in Oracle Server Technologies that focuses on legacy (mainframe and midrange) modernization. There are three options from Oracle:
    1. Oracle Data Integrator (was Sunopsis) - This product is completely written in Java so it can even run on the iSeries/AS400. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle-data-integrator/index.html
    2. Oracle ransparent Gateway for DB2/400 - Can execute qeuries directly against DB2 to migration the data. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/gateways/tg4db2400.htm
    3. OWB (Oracle Warehouse Builder) - This is an ETL offering from Oracle. Two options for moving the data FTP (and load the flat files) or if you have an ODBC driver on the iSeries can use this with OWB. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/index.html
    Hope this helps. My team is hear to help with legacy modernizations so don't hestitate to contact me at [email protected]

  • Configuring a DataSource

    I'm trying to configure a DataSource for MySql, but when I try to make a ping to the Connection Pool appears this message: "Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message: Connection could not be allocated because: Syntax error or access violation message from server: "Incorrect database name 'jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/tienda'"

    DataSource classname = com.mysql.jdbc.jdbc2.optional.MysqlDataSource
    Resource type = javax.sql.DataSource
    database name = jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/shop
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks.

    I suppose you use Windows XP and you have create a System DNS throught Administrative Tools in Control Panel.
    If you didn't do it then you should use a Type1 JDBC Driver, an ODBC-JDBC driver. You should donwload the MySQL ODBC Driver and install it.
    Then insert this code in your program.
    try     {
    // load database driver class TYPE1
    Class.forName( "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver" );
    // connect to database
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:odbc:tienda");
    catch(Exception exc)     {
         System.out.println(exc);
    Else you can use a Type4 JDBC Driver,. In this case you haven't create a System DNS.
    try     {
    // load database driver class TYPE4
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
    // connect to database
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection(LOOK BELOW);
    catch(Exception exc)     {
         System.out.println(exc);
    In connection = DriverManager.getConnection(LOOK BELOW);
    Change LOOK BELOW with
    jdbc:mysql://[host][,failoverhost...][:port]/[database][?propertyName1][=propertyValue1][&propertyName2][=propertyValue2]...
    As MySQL JConnector's Manual instructs.

    Thanks to all for assistance. It turns out that the 10 character limit, about which the server people warned me, isn't an issue with my ODBC connection. The invalid token error was being caused by some missing qualifiers in the generated sql which caused appearances of ".tablename" rather than "tablename" and other similar. I was able to modify the knowledge module to eliminate this issue and the CDC worked correctly on my first test.

  • Configure webservices as datasource for coherence

    Is it possible to directly configure webservices as datasource for coherence. So that after a preconfigured period of time, the cache refreshes itself. If yes samples/ documentation for the same.

    Hi Tally,
    you can do almost that, but not exactly that with out-of-the-box features only.
    You can use the refresh-ahead feature of the read-write backing map with which a get to a key will cause the refresh of the entry value from the cache loader which will be seen by the subsequent get to the same key.
    Alternatively you can schedule your own periodic processing with some timer which fetches data from the backing storage and it puts it into the cache.
    A mix of the two would be to have the periodic processing issue the get requests which trigger the refresh-ahead behaviour.
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • Oracle WebLogic Server - How to connect to IBM DB2-400

    Hi to all,
    I'm afraid I'm going to ask a f.a.q... anyway... I'm trying to define a Connection Pool to Db2/400. I see that Oracle App Server do support DB2 on windows and linux O.S;
    what about DB2 on a iSeries / iOs machine ?
    Thank you in advance for your help.

    1. Can OSB connect to JMS Queue which resides within the IBM Maximo Application? If yes can you please provide any documents/link which outlines the steps.Yes. You can use a OSB proxy service with jms transport to dequeue the messages from remote weblogic jms.
    2. Do I need to configure a Messaging Bridge or a Foreign JNDI provider in Weblogic? Which is the best optionNot required.
    3. What information do we need to configure in Weblogic to connect to the JMS Queue in IBM Maximo Application? Configure a proxy service with jms transport. Here you have to provide the transport URI hostname/port part you have to give details of the maximo WLS server host and part.Since jms transport involves rmi communication between two weblogic domains, you also need to setup either global trust between the domains or cross domain security.
