Configuring multiple IPS devices at the sametime

Hi All,
I have 10 new IPS devices, i have to do the coniguration on all the 10 devices, the configuration on all the 10 devices wil be same........Is there an easy way to configure multiple devices at the same time (is there any script that can do that) or is there any way to automate this task?
Thanks,

Another option is to configure one sensor the way you want, as with Bob's recommendation.  Then copy the current configuration to a remote server (FTP, SCP, HTTP or HTTPS):
copy current-config ftp:
Follow the prompts to provide the necessary credentials.  (This example is using a FTP server)
Next perform the minimal host configuration on each remaining sensor (IP address, access-list), and then copy the saved configuration to each sensor:
copy ftp: current-config
Again, provide the necessary credentials as prompted.
You will then be prompted as to whether to overwrite the host settings; choose not to do so.  This should implement all other sensor options you had configured on the initial sensor.
Also, as Bob mentioned, this method is sufficient for initial configuration; long-term policy management can be challenging with these processes.  If you will be looking to perform frequent and consistent signature tuning across all ten sensors you may wish to consider making use of Cisco Security Manager which allows you to create a shared signature policy.  This allows you to make the changes to one IPS policy and deploy that policy to all ten sensors concurrently.

  • How to configura multiple ldap server to the sun access manager

    Hi,
please help how to configure multiple ldap server to the sun access manager, for example access manager does't find the user in ldap1 then it should search in ldap2.
    Thanks
    Mouli

Theres no need for deleting the default amSDK based datastore because its needed for some default accounts.
You may try to create the datastore using the commandline (amadmin)
    Have a look /etc/opt/SUNWam/config/xml/idRepoService.xml
You may also try to create amadmin account in the external ldap directory.
(Un)fortunately ive never tried to remove the default datastore.

  • Can multiple Virtual Devices use the same IVI Driver Sessions?

I am using Switch Executive 2.0 and I'm having problems creating multiple Virtual Devices.
I have created a virtual device on a development computer that has no hardware connected to it.  This virtual device uses specific drivers to simulate the devices.  The problem I'm having is that when I create a second virtual device and try to add the same IVI Switches as the first Virtual device, I'm getting the following error:
An error has occurred while attempting to access the device deviceA_ivi.
    Error -223116 occurred:
Internal Software error occurred in Switches software.  Please contact National Instruments Support.
    File name: .\source\mxsWrappers\tMXSObject.cpp
    Line Number 192:
    Status Code: -223116
    Can someone please explain why?

Can you please elaborate on how did you create those simulated devices? Namely, what does your IVI configuration look like? What does the driver session for the logical name look like? What's the software module? What's the hardware module? What is the driver setup string, and what is the simulation mode for the device in question?

  • Why can I no longer configure multiple unsupervised devices?

It looks like Apple Configurator removed the ability to install a profile to multiple unsupervised devices, and makes the act of doing so with a single device much more laborious.
I use Apple Configurator to install a small profile that pushes a trust certificate, WiFi config, and Web Clip to enroll the device on our MDM server. I often set up large batches of iPads at once, so this made the process of getting each one onto our WiFi and enrolled much quicker. We have multiple admins on this network, and don't want to tie the devices to a single computer/Configurator install.
    Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, even folllowing http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5833 it still appears impossible to use Apple Configurator to install multiple profiles on even one device at once without using Supervise mode.
So, if I want to install a profile which connects the device to a WiFi network (without which enrolment will fail) and then a Trust and Enrollment profile, I seem to have no option but to go through three cycles installing profiles, rather than allowing Configurator to automatically install each profile in turn in one pass.
This is extremely frustrating and VERY time consuming for mass deployments!!

  • Question re: multiple wireless devices and the Duel Band Airport Extreme

I recently purchased the new duel-band Airport Extreme. Prior to that I had the single band Airport Extreme. I’m a bit confused about how it works and have spent a good bit of time trying to find the answers on the web, but nothing really addresses my specific question so I’m coming to the experts.
I have a number of wireless devices throughout my house… a couple of Roku boxes, two iPads, two iPods running Pandora, a MacBook and an older model Apple TV etc.
Both of the iPods are 802.11 G. The iPads can handle N.
One Roku is 802.11 G and the other can handle N.
I am confused about configuring the Airport Extreme. It’s my understanding that if I just go with the basic setup of creating a network and selecting Automatic for the Radio Mode and Channel that all of my devices will automatically connect to the most appropriate band for the best throughput for that particular device.
I have tried configuring the Airport Extreme as I mentioned above, as well as setting it up with the 5GHz Network Name field selected. I gave this a different name so I would be able to distinguish between the two networks when selecting one on my iPad. I will refer to the fist configuration as Setup A and the second (naming the 5 GHZ Network ) as Setup B.
When I use Setup A all of my devices show one available network to connect to. I select that network and all is well.
When I use Setup B the devices show two available networks, the original and the one I named on the 5GHz Network Name Filed.
My iPod’s ( 802.11 G ) only display the name of the first network, but my iPad’s show both, and I can select either. The signal strength on the 5GHz channel only dislplays two bars on the signal strength indicator icon, but the other network is full bars.
When I use Setup A, is my iPad, Roku and MacBook automatically selecting the 5GHz AND the N connection? How do I know that it’s not using the G band? Is it best to just go with the automatic settings and trust that I’m getting the best connections? How does it know weather to connect to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. What determines that ?
Sorry for the rambling questions but the more I think about it the more confused I get about all of the possible combinations of connectivity possibilities.
I appreciate any attempts at making this a “teachable moment” for me :- )
    Thanks !
    Chuck

    Welcome to the discussion area!
The signal strength on the 5GHz channel only dislplays two bars on the signal strength indicator icon, but the other network is full bars.
Not surprising, because the much higher frequency 5 GHz signals are absorbed much more quickly by any obstructions than 2.4 GHz signals. Everything is a trade off. In return for higher speeds, you must give up distance capability and penetration power with 5 GHz. It's not exactly true that you have to have a line-of-sight arrangement between the router and computer with 5 GHz, but many users are finding that to be the case for good, reliable performance.
How does it know weather to connect to the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. What determines that ?
The signal strength. If your computer is capable of connecting at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, it will choose the band with the higher signal strength...assuming that both bands have the same network name. The only way you can "force" a device to connect to the 5 GHz band is set it up with a different name and point your computer to that specific network.
For most users, the way to go is setup both bands with the same wireless network name and let devices connect to the strongest signal automatically.

  • Qemu/kvm: multiple USB devices from the same vendor

    Hi fellow gurus,
Trying to pass-through two USB devices. One works just fine, but two produces an error.
They are the same type from the same vendor and libvirt seems to have no way to differentiate between the two, as it only uses the <vendor id='0xnnnn'/> & <product id='0xnnn'/> strings and not serial number of the device.
There is a reference -unanswered- here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1090602

As I understand it, host:bus.addr is an alternative to host:vendor_id:product_id. So if I wanted to pass both of these thumb drives:
    $ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 1e3d:2093 Chipsbank Microelectronics Co., Ltd CBM209x Flash Drive (OEM)
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 1e3d:2093 Chipsbank Microelectronics Co., Ltd CBM209x Flash Drive (OEM)
I would use host:001.002 and host:001.003 . Note I said would use, because I've never tried it.
And usb_add is a qemu monitor command. See sections 3.4 and 3.5 of the doc you linked for info on the monitor.
All this being said, I don't use libvirt stuff so I don't know if it has the capability to specify USB devices by bus.addr or whether or not it enables the monitor.

  • How to configure a VME device within the software?

I've got a VME-MXI-2 interface cobnnected to a VME crate. I'm using the ni-vxi driver to access the VME cards in the crate. I can't configure the VME configuration manually using the tools for variuos reasons. So I tried to do it directly in the software using CreateDevInfo and SetDevInfo functions. But although GetDevInfo shows me the same information about the device as it does when I do a manual configuration, I can't access the device. (bus error, but it doesn't access the VME bus at all) Is it possible at all to configure a VME device only from the software and not doing it manually? If yes, what else do I have to do apart from creating the device with CreateDevInfo and SetDevInfo?

    Frank,
Unfortunately, the CreateDevInfo and SetDevInfo commands do not function as you were expecting. These change the device information for that program only.
Resources (such as Memory Addresses) have to be mapped across the MXI-2 interface, and Resman performs the mapping based on the configuration information. The reason you get a bus error when trying to then access the device is because the memory mapping across the MXI-2 has not been done for the address ranges configured by SetDevInfo because resman has not run.
After setting the information programmatically, you would have to close that program to run resman. Since the settings are localized to the program you just closed, resman would not map the device information.
If you used an embedded controller, you could read and write directly to the address on the device. You would not have to configure the devices at all (manually or programmatically) because you have direct access to the VME backplane.
There is not a way to programmatically configure VME devices. However, there are options in MAX to enable and disable the various VME device profiles. So you could create all of the different VME devices you will be using, and then enable/disable according to the current configuration. Also, NI-VXI 3.2 includes tools so that you can import and export VME device information in to and out of MAX.

How do you separate multiiple ios devices using the same apple id account for Face Time calls and iMessaging?

The only way I have seen is to have each device use a if fervent email account, if they all are on the same email the FaceTime connection is either to a phone number or to an email address.  If they ar all on the same email, it is up to the user to decide which to use.

    Yes.
Normally you would buy a hardware RAID5 solution like the Promise Pegasus R4 or the Drobo 5D however recently some new software has been released for the Mac to allow creating RAID5 software RAIDs. See http://www.softraid.com
Apple's own Disk Utility cannot create RAID5 software RAIDs.

  • How to configure multiple virtual hosts for the same context root /

    Hi,
    I am using Glassfish V1 U1 - b14 on Solaris.
I am trying to configure two applications to be mapped to the / root context, each one in its own virtual host.
    Two things I have noticed:
    1. I have to manually add virtual-hosts="hostId" in domain.xml/application-ref ... looks like just simply deploying the app does not do that although the application is set as default for its particular virtual host. Is this a bug?
    2. Although I have set for each virtual host the default web-app correctly, and they both respond fine, I cannot map both of them to the / context. The second application (chronologically deployed) does not respond when called with the / context ....
Any ideas? Is this a bug again?

Wow, that's a shame. All mighty Application Server and two different apps on two different virtual hosts are considered ambiguous to have the same context root definition.... Fair play to Tomcat and 90% of the rest of servlet containers!
In my case I have the same EAR we are planning to deploy to many (up to 30) virtual hosts. Faking different context roots for each deployment will bring unnecessary overheads...
Should I file a bug or feature request?
Thanks again for your answer, although you're basically saying it is not possible I will wait and look a while for a possible solution before bringing this topic to a conclusion.

  • Can I control iTunes via the the remote on multiple iOS devices at the same time?

Hi, I know this is probably a no brainer but I have an iPad and an iPhone on one apple id both with the remote app on them. Problem is the app only seems to run on my iPad at the moment! Ideally it would run on both and on a third iPhone (my wifes and different apple id) at the same time so that we could all control the music... Is it possible?

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"? Ones with a green checkmark are solved.

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores
