Configuring ssm multicast

hi,
we are getting ready to implement the nexus 7000 with otv are two sites. since multicast is required to support this configuration i am currently testing how to implement ssm multicast on our core network. i am having problems joining the ssm group. here is the output from the 6509 i am using:
hw-dc-vss-cs6509-1(config-if)#ip igmp join-group 232.1.1.1
Ignoring request to join group 232.1.1.1, SSM group without source specified
hw-dc-vss-cs6509-1(config-if)#ip igmp join-group 232.1.1.1 ?
  <cr>
hw-dc-vss-cs6509-1(config-if)#ip igmp join-group 232.1.1.1
as you can see the source option is not available and i can't figure out why.
here is a copy of my running configure and show multicast show commands
sh runn

any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you
i did some more digging and found the answer to my question, have to use the following command instead of the join-group command
Ip igmp static-group

I'm assuming you mean WebLogic SSM. If you set it up using organizational structure, you should see a new org in /entitlementsadministration with a number of applications bound to the SSM you declared.

  • Configuring SSMs Using ConfigTool in OES 10gr3

    hi all ,
i am configuring ssm distributed mode using configtool like in the following link
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12890_01/ales/docs32/installssms/SSM_Configs.html

i go that folder path there is no trust.jks.

    With Regards,

Since you have your admin on some different machine, you need to enroll this SM with admin..
For that you need to run enroll.bat from the location C:\Oracle\Middleware\weblogic1032\ales32-shared\bin
you can use the following command to do that
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\weblogic1032\ales32-shared\bin>enroll.bat demo
this will ask you for your admin credentials..After enrolling your SM with admin..run asipassword.bat from the same folder this will encrypt your admin credentials and store it in the password.xml file
After that try to run the config tool
    Hope this helps..

  • IGMP Snooping configuration for Multicasting on Cisco Catalyst 3020

IGMP Snooping configuration for Multicasting on Cisco Catalyst 3020
    Hi Guru,
Our switch model is "Cisco Catalyst Blade Switch 3020 for HP"
We are building HA (High Availability) Databases infrastructure.
Currently, there are two nodes(hosts- servers) and two above switch for HA.
Oracle said we need to turn off the IGMP Snooping in order to use the multicasting for their interconnect communication.
    So my question is:
Q1> Is there any way to use Multicasting without turning off IGMP Snooping on Switch side?
Q2> If 'yes', how can we configure the switch for Multicasting ?
Oracle uses 230.0.1.0 & 224.0.0.251 IPs with 42000 range port for Multicasting communication.
Please shed some light on it

May I request if you avoid making multiple posts of the same issue?  This will only confuse people (including you).

  • IGMP V3, SSM Multicast Boundaries config questions..

    Guys,
I am having some difficulty to understand the SSM boundary config sample from this Cisco doco.
eg 1, I am not sure why they have the host 0.0.0.0 line. Also the acl are base on ip, udp and igmp?
Eg 2, similar to eg 1 but it also has deny pim.
Could someone explain why do we need to use udp, pim & igmp for the boundery filter? Normally I would use ip instead. (eg: permit ip host 181.1.2.201 host 232.1.1.1)
    eg 1:
The following example permits outgoing traffic for (181.1.2.201, 232.1.1.1) and (181.1.2.202, 232.1.1.1) and denies all other (S,G)s.
    configure terminal
    ip access-list extended acc_grp1
    permit ip host 0.0.0.0 232.1.1.1 0.0.0.255
permit ip host 181.1.2.201 host 232.1.1.1
permit udp host 181.1.2.202 host 232.1.1.1
permit ip host 181.1.2.202 host 232.1.1.1
deny igmp host 181.2.3.303 host 232.1.1.1
    interface ethernet 2/3
    ip multicast boundary acc_grp1 out
    eg 2:
The following example permits outgoing traffic for (181.1.2.201, 232.1.1.5) and 181.1.2.202, 232.1.1.5).
    configure terminal
    ip access-list extended acc_grp6
    permit ip host 0.0.0.0 232.1.1.1 5.0.0.255
deny udp host 181.1.2.201 host 232.1.1.5

  • Entitlements Server - Configuring SSM to run without an SCM

I am using the ConfigTool to create java-ssm instances. What do I need to specify to create an SSM that doesn't use an SCM? Or, how do I update the configuration of an existing ssm to shut off the need for an SCM (though the documentation says you can't switch from XML to SCM once the instance is created so I'm assuming the reverse is also true).
There are instructions for doing this from the "wizard" at [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12890_01/ales/docs32/installssms/No_SCM.html#wp1087976], however, my wizard never presents the checkbox mentioned, and the figure (10-1) appears to be missing from the documentation.

    Hi
I've found on Oracle Documentation a special how-to perform the weblogic configuration to integrate with OID.
    Take a look at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/fnimphius/oidconfig/index.html.
But it's for WebLogic Server 10g Release 3.

  • Configuring SSM with OES Admin Server

    Hi,
I have installed an SSM and enrolled ith with Admin server by running the enroll.bat script. After that I also ran the ConfigTool.bat file and build executed successfully. However when I login to OES Admin Console,I am not able to see the new SSM.Any idea what i am doing wrong here?.Thanks in Advance.

I'm assuming you mean WebLogic SSM. If you set it up using organizational structure, you should see a new org in /entitlementsadministration with a number of applications bound to the SSM you declared.

  • CSCuj20687 - Enh Configuring static multicast mac-address for N6K NLB implementation

    Hi
Does we fix release avilable for nexus 6k?

It seems that all 7.x releases should have this enhancement.  The release note would also seem to indicate that
6.0(2)N2(1) has the fix for the Nexus 6000.
    Are you experiencing something different?

  • Error While Starting WebLogic Console after SSM Configuration

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle Entitlement Server 10.1.4.3, and have Admin Server and WebLogic SSM running in separate homes on Windows XP Pro machine.
Have followed standard documentation and completed the steps for Configuring SSMs using ConfigTool (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12890_01/ales/docs32/installssms/SSM_Configs.html).
Followed by that while securing the WebLogic Server as per documentation - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12890_01/ales/docs32/integrateappenviron/configWLS.html, am unable to access the Console app. WebLogic domain is startingup properly, but unable to access the Console.
Following is the error stack in Admin server log:

  • Configuring Multicast

    Hello,
I want to configure a multicast network but I'm confused about creating a multicast group.
I think that I have to assign a multicast address to a switch interface and then to connect a computer to this interface, isn't it?
In the attachment there is my network diagram, I hope it help you to understand the situation.
    Thank you in advance! :-)

I looked at your running config. No multicast enabled there so I am assuming you typed these commands after?
Basically, your setup looks fairly simple and should work provided 2 conditions and you can clarify some stuff for me.
    Where is the video server?
    Let's say it's on fast 0/0.1
If it's set up to use multicast streaming, you are going to pick the address it's going to use right?
Once you do that and pick the stream, it should start playing...
In dense mode, the operation is as such.
When you start streaming, it will build s,g connections on all egress interfaces as it assumes that there are receivers on those interfaces.
Issue the show ip mroute command and you should see the multicast group showing up on the other interface that you have pim enabled on.
If not, then check to see that you are in fact set up for multicast streaming.
If so, then verify that the receivers are configured to "subscribe" to that channel you are broadcasting on.
Once you have that stuff squared away you should be all set..
You can send me screen shots of the vid server setup if you want and send me an updated
    sh run
    sh ip mroute
    OK?

  • WiSM - Multicast Initial Configuration Help

    Hi all,
I would really like your help on this.
We have enabled the multicast for the wired network for our client and it works really good.
Now, it's time to enable it through the Wism running 6.0.199.4
So, on the Wism configuration i'm performing the following config:
    1) Controller - Multicast - Check the enable global multicast mode and the Igmp snooping
    2) Controller - General - Ap Multicast Mode- Multicast: 239.199.1.76
    On the Cat6k side:
Enable the multicast in the management vlan to the wism and to the vlan bind with the ssid we are connected at.
I'm rebooting the AP in order to receive the new multicast configuration from the wism and then trying to receive the multicast stream.
    But apparently i cant...!
So, i'm checking under Monitor- Multicast to see whether the multicast group is (configured in Ap Multicast Mode) is active but i cant see it listed under Layer 3.
Can anyone share his feedback here?
    Thank you

    Hello,
The multicast IP 239.199.1.76 that you configured on the WiSM is the one that the APs will join (different from the multicast IP to which the wireless clients will register).
So you would need to make sure that the APs subnet/vlan is also configured for multicast.
Moreover, apart from the discovery phase, the communication between the APs and the WiSM is done through the ap-manager interface: you might want to make sure that also this subnet/vlan is correctly configured for multicast.
    Regards,
    Fede

  • SSM - Configure Multiple Webserver's with a Single Database Server

    Hi,
I need to install SSM using the following system landscape: Distributed system using a single database server and two webserver's.
The system is configured to use the Microsoft Network Load Balancing and that's the reason why exist two webserver's. When the user put the URL, the connection can be done to the webserver 1 or webserver 2 (the Microsoft Network Load Balancing will manage that).
I was checking the install guide "NW CE 7_1 SP5 SQL Server Install Guide.pdf" but there is no reference to this system landscape. The only "similar" is for High Availability System using Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS), but that's not what I need.
I was planning to do a distributed installation and in the database server I will install:
    - the Database Instance of NetWeaver
    - the Database components of SSM (PAS)
In the Webserver I will install:
    - the SCS Instance of NetWeaver
    - the Primary Application Instance of NetWeaver
    - the Web components of SSM (PIP, etc...)
For a scenario of a single webserver and a single database server, this work just fine.
    My questions are:
    - how can I configure SSM to work in a scenario of two webserver's and a single database server?
    - Should I install the same components in both WebServer's?
    - Should I use the same instance number or a different one?
    - It is possible to have two netweaver instance sharing the same database?
Thanks in advance for all the help
    Regards
    Pedro

    Hi Pedro,
    - how can I configure SSM to work in a scenario of two webserver's and a single database server?
Yes see below. But also make sure SAP will support the configuration you're planning!
    - Should I install the same components in both WebServer's?
    yes.
    - Should I use the same instance number or a different one?
    The same makes configuration eaiser
    - It is possible to have two netweaver instance sharing the same database?
Not for the SCS but yes for application server (your Java instances)
The central services, SCS instance, are one per a SAP System. So you cannot install one on each Web Server and operate them simultaneously.
Given your database is also a single point of failure then I would suggest you install the SCS with it on the database server.
On each of the Web Servers install an application instance of SAP NW CE.
Since the instance are on different servers they can share the same instance number.  It is not mandatory but it may make configuration easier. e.g. for the the webservice the port will not change.
There can only be one Interactive Publisher (PIP) running so this may as well also go on your database server.
The Pilot Application Server (PAS) there can be multiple of so install one on each Web Server.
See section 5.2.3 of Server Installation Guide SAP Strategy Management Release 7.0 Support Package 2 and higher for configuring SAP NW CE to point to the one instance on Interactive publisher.
See section 5.2.7 of Server Installation Guide SAP Strategy Management Release 7.0 Support Package 2 and higher for setting up the Web Service target in Interactive publisher this will need to use the virtual ip(or hostname) of your Network Load Balancer.
    Best of luck.
    Marcel.

  • How to configure SFE2000 to filter multicast (IGMP is enabled)

We have a SFE2000 switch and we're having trouble configuring IGMP snooping.  It is enabled but we are still seeing multicast traffic on ports which have definitely not done an IGMP join - indicating something is not right.  The literature on the switch says it supports IGMP snooping.  Can anyone advise or point me to a technical resource?  This switch is part of a standard package and we are looking at alternative suppliers since this switch is not doing what we need.  I'd like to confirm this switch can't do what we need or understand how to properly configure it before going elsewhere.  I have reviewed the manuals. I suspect the issue relates to configuring a multicast querier.  I don't see a way to do this on the SFE2000.  Our system is isolated so the SFE2000 is not connecting to a higher level switch.  The SFE2000 needs to act as the querier. Thanks in advance for any help/direction.  - Jim

The following two links are related and interesting :
    http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=49905
    http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Switches&thread.id=3043
I'm not sure converting the SFE2000 to layer 3 will cause it to act as a querier or not.

  • Need help to deploy IP Multicast in private network

    Hi,
I am currently working on a project where there is an urgent requirement to deliver an IP multicast solution.
The network itself is fairly simple.
IP Cameras as connected to pairs of Catalyst 2960 switches in 'access nodes'. There are 8 cameras per node, 4 on each switch. There are multiple nodes, 3 at the moment in our testing environment, all trunked together, so 24 cameras in total.
The Catalyst 2960 switches are trunking to a Core node, which consists of a pair of Catalyst 3750 switches with MHSRP configured for each of 8 VLANs, with 2 DCs and 2 Video storage servers for storing camera footage attached to access ports on those switches. We also have workstations attached to the core node switches which have software installed to view live images and manage the cameras across the network.
We have no routing - the access switches have default gateways pointing to the VLANs SVIs configured on the core switch, and each function has its on VLAN. InterVLAN routing is enabled on the 3750s and connectivity is working fine.
I wish to send a TCP stream to the Video Storage servers for storage, and to multicast to the workstations so that the software can see multiple streams from multiple cameras.
Could someone please suggest a suitable deployment strategy, including how to configure the cameras and switches appropriately to allow this to happen? I am struggling to understand what type of configuration is required.
Much appreciated. I'm actively viewing this thread for assistance.

    Paul
I don't think IP Base supports any PIM mode other than PIM stub routing (unless you know otherwise) so your solution wouldn't work. Or perhaps i am not understanding ?
    Martin
I think the only way forward is to test what we have already covered.
I didn't realise this was a test environment so at least you can try all things out without worrying about the production network.
The thread i linked to suggested that you can get the routing working even without a L3 device capable of running full multicast routing but at the moment the question concerns those extra commands you can't enter. Can you verify they are not available in config mode ?
An additional problem is because PIM is passive on the SVIs no IGMP queries are being made so there is no way for the switches to work out which ports needs the multicast stream and so it will be flooded.
There is a function, supported on the 3750s called the IGMP querier function which allows the switch to make IGMP queries per vlan without PIM enabled. We may be able to use this but i have absolutely no idea how it will work with the L3 multicast routing config.
I recommend you try and get multicast routing working first. If you can get to the stgae where you can send a multicast stream from one vlan to another then you should be able to use wireshark to then see each port in the destination vlan receiving the stream (even when you don't want it to).
If you can get to that stage we can then try the IGMP snooping querier to see if we can restrict the stream to only those ports that need to receive it. It may be we can't in which case -
    a) you could statically configure the multicast mac address to the relevant ports but this is no scalable and does not allow clients to dynamically join and leave the multicast group
    or
    b) simply allow the stream to be flooded to all ports within the destination vlan. Not ideal and kind of defeats the purpose of multicast but you may have no choice.
I doubt whether any of this would be supported by Cisco though as i think their position would be to simply upgrade to an IP Services license although in understand this may not be possible for you because of cost.

  • Multicasting for Flexconnect mode

I have requirement to enable multicasting on wireless network.  AP s are on Flexconnect mode. Does Flexconnect mode be enabled for multicast traffic ?

In release 8.0, FlexConnect can join CAPWAP multicast group. The controller should be set to Multicast - Multicast mode for both AP Multicast mode and IPv6 AP Multicast mode.
Note: FlexConnect mode APs will join IPv4 or IPv6 Multicast group if AP Multicast mode is configured as Multicast in release 8.0; however, there will be slight Data through-put degradation impact in the FlexConnect centrally switched scenario compared to AP Multicast mode configured as Unicast.
Note: Smart AP image upgrade does not work on the 7500 controllers when the Master AP is connected over CAPWAPv6.
The following IPv6 specific features are not supported in FlexConnect central switching mode:
    ■Layer 3 Mobility
    ■IPv6 VideoStream
