Configuring SunOne Web Server6.1 for JSTL ...?

I understand there was discussion already on this topic but I seem to not understand that the only solution is war file as mentioned by writer: hari.developer.
Mr. Hari was answering to the topic: "JSTL and SUNOne Web Server 6.1 SP2" on: Oct 28, 2004 11:20 PM. His comments are in the end.
Basically, I was even unable to run examples from JavaServer Pages 3rd Edition by Hans Bergsten on my Sun ONE web server 6.1 where I kept getting JSTL errors... errors were complaing about the uri issue. The book examples are download-able but they don't come in war file. I tried creating a war file but received further errors.
THere has to be a solution to this on SunOne. I would request someone from Sun to please answer this b/c many developer are lost and doing funny things to get the work done. I have seen one post where putting jstl.jar is put in WEB-INF directory and given URI is pointing to it. I don't like this idea so ask anyone who has a solution please help
here are the errors on my machine:
GET /myapp/login.jsp, service-j2ee reports: StandardWrapperValve[jsp]: WEB2792: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: WEB4117: This absolute uri (http://java.sun.com/jstl/core) cannot be resolved in either web.xml or the jar files deployed with this application
Here is my simple jsp file from above mentioned book:
<%@ page contentType="text/html" %>
<%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
<%@ taglib prefix="fn" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/functions" %>

</html>
Hari wrote the following:
In Web Server 6.1 and Service Packs, legacy servlets is not supported and do not work.
While JSPs do work it is not supported and it will not be able to lookup "Webapp" resources like WEB-INF\lib even if you create it in the doc root. You will need to package your JSPa and TLDs as a webapp (WAR) and deploy it on the webserver for this to work.

I realize that it is nearly 4 years later, but did anyone figure out a way to use jstl with SunOne 6.1?

SunONE server start up successfully. But I have problem to connect my web application, and SunONE web server returns following error:
"for host 172.23.54.5 trying to GET /arsys/home, wl-proxy reports: Neither 'WebLogicCluster' nor 'WebLogicHost' specified in parameters"
I tried both SunOne (6.1 sp3) and iPlanet (6.0), I saw same problem.
Can anyone help me on this?
    Thanks

To configure sunone to work with WLS, you need to make entires in the magnus.conf and the obj.conf.From the error, it seems as if u missed the entries in the obj.conf.

  • Example web.xml for JSTL?

I need to find an example web.xml file that shows where thet tablib statements for JSTL go and what they look like in a web.xml file. I was looking at an article I found through Google that pointed to Javasoft doc on this subject but the link didn't work, and anyway, I prefer examples to specifications. I haven't found a good example yet. Can someone point me to one or post one? I need both contents of the taglib statements and a clear picture of exactly where in the web.xml file they go. I think the statements are:
    <taglib>
        <taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jstl/fmt</taglib-uri>
        <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/fmt.tld</taglib-location>
      </taglib>
      <taglib>
        <taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jstl/core</taglib-uri>
        <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/c.tld</taglib-location>
      </taglib>
      <taglib>
        <taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jstl/sql</taglib-uri>
        <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/sql.tld</taglib-location>
      </taglib>
      <taglib>
        <taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jstl/x</taglib-uri>
        <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/x.tld</taglib-location>
      </taglib>Thanks.

    Just to confirm
    - what server/version are you deploying on where it doesn't work?
    - what server do you have that it does work on? Is it the same?
    - you have both standard.jar and jstl.jar? Check the version by opening with a zip tool and looking at the manifest.mf file.
    - what URI are you using to import the tag libraries with?
To install JSTL, all you need is jstl.jar and standard.jar, in a place where the webapp can find them.
Most commonly is the WEB-INF/lib directory
Most servers also have a "shared" directory idea - eg tomcat has the /common/lib and /shared/lib directories. The JSTL jars will work just as well in those directories.

  • Access Control for SunOne Web Server 6.0.5 vs. 6.0.4

This question is about bypassing an appserver by specifying an alias without the appserver vitual host so as to download a class or jar file. With only the default ACL on the 6.0.4 version of the Sunone web server I found that .class and .jar files were not downloadable. However, on version 6.0.5 they are. For example, the URL:
    https://myhost/appserv/alias/path/file.jsp
would return the html resulting from that file.jsp file being processed by my application server. But by contrast, the URL:
    https://myhost/alias/path/file.jsp
will prompt the user as to where they want to save the file. Specifying the alias immediately after the hostname (omitting appserv) will allow free access to any files under that aliases target directory. This is a problem especially for .class and .jar files which contain server side programs. I have created an ACL as described in the administrators guide and this does solve the problem (thank goodness for that). My question is, why didn't I experience this problem before?

  • Configuring default web apps for virtual hosts

    Hi,
This posting is meant save time for anyone trying to specify a default web app
for each of their virtual hosts (as opposed to specifying a default web app for
each of their wl servers). This applies to weblogic 6.1, on NT. (I haven't tried
    this on other platforms).
If you are trying to use the admin console to do this, give up. It's not possible.
The "Virtual Host/Configuration" window lets you specify everything about that
vhost configuration EXCEPT a default web app. (The "Default Web Application" drop
down menu will always have only one option to choose from: "none").
Instead, shutdown your server, and edit your domain's config.xml file manually.
Attached is an example config file that specifies that the web app "kz" should
be the default web app for the vhost "wl.kz.com", and that the web app "kahuna"
should be the default web app for the vhost "www.kahuna.com".

    do this.
    Thanks.

  • Does URL Policy Agent of SunONE Web Server 6.1 works with Identity Server 6

    Hi,
I'm using URL Policy Agent of SunONE Web Server 6.1, and using Identity Server 6.1 to configure policy to access web resource such as http://myweb.org.cn/test/*
After configyration, I try to access the resources http://myweb.org.cn/test/test.html
The redirection is ok, the IS login appear, but after login successfully, it still tell me that I don't have permission to view this web page.
Is this because of URL policy agent don't support IS 6.1?
    Many thanks,

Can anybody help me with the steps to generate core for this issue.. I followed the steps as said in http://blogs.sun.com/meena/entry/troubleshooting_server_crashes_enabling_core but I don't see any core generated when server crashes..

    - OS is RHEL 4.0

  • SunOne Web Server (JSP & class)

I have tried to read the documentation but I am just not getting it. I have 2 files myjsp.jsp and mybean.class that I would like SunOne Web Server to display my jsp using the javabean. Where do I put the files? (I have seen all kinds of things on deploying a WAR file etc. I just want to place these two files on the web server and go.)
I have my jsp located at c:\iPlanet\Servers\docs\webdev and my class file located at[b] c:\iPlanet\Servers\docs\webdev\web-inf\classes. What do I need to tell the server how to load the javabean?

    Hi, elving
This is good information. Thanks very much.
Actually, I am not using SSL, just plain http connection with basic auth. It might be the cache-control header that causes the head ache. 6.0 response does not have the cache-control header, but 6.1 has.
The interesting thing is that adding a servlet mapping on 6.1 solves the problem.
I will take a further look tomorrow.
    Cheers,
    Harry
I doubt the problem has to do with the Content-Length
    header.
I'd guess that you're using SSL. Are you? If so,
you're almost certainly bumping into a known bug (or,
as Microsoft describes it, a "feature") in Internet
    Explorer. Microsoft article KB316431 at
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=316431h
as some information on the problem. As the article
points out, the problem occurs when Internet Explorer
needs to invoke an external application to handle a
file that was served over SSL with Cache-Control:
    no-cache and/or Pragma: no-cache headers.
A work around would be force Web Server to send
Cache-Control and Pragma headers that don't include
the no-cache directive. For example, the following
lines could be added to the obj.conf configuration
    file:<Object ppath="*.jnlp">
    Output fn="set-variable" set-srvhdrs="Cache-Control:
    private"
    Output fn="set-variable" set-srvhdrs="Pragma:
    private"
</Object>Fortunately, it sounds like you've already
    found another viable work around.

  • Office web apps Server for Sharepoint 2013

    Hello,
I used the following article to install office web apps server and hook it up to a test sharepoint server:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219455(v=office.15).aspx. The OWAS service was verified as working by loading:
    https://owas.companyname.com/hosting/discovery
For the sharepoint configuration phase, the following commands were run on the sharepoint machine:
    1) New-SPWOPIBinding -ServerName "owas.companyname.com"   -- (owas.companyname.com) is the host name of the owas server)
    2) Get-SPWOPIZone
    3) Set-SPWOPIZone -zone "external-https"
However, office documents are still launching in the desktop office applications, not in the browser. Any ideas of what else I may need to do?
    thanks,
    Sherazad

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you fail to configure Office Web Apps for your SharePoint 2013.
How about run Get-SPWOPIZone? If you can get a result, it says that your  SharePoint  have connected with Office Web Apps.
Then you can run below command to  change the zone to internal-https.
    Set-SPWOPIZone -zone "internal-https"

  • Web Location URLs for Office 2007 documents (pptx, xlsx, docx) not working

In our current Content Server solution implemented, each content has a Web Location URL and a Native File associated with it. The Web Location URL(for a content in Public security group) is of the following format:
    http://ucmurl/groups/public/intranetcontent/CONTENT_ID.doc
So far when a user clicks on this link, they are just presented with an 'Open' 'Save' dialog box, which clearly shows that UCM identifies this file format. So for a Word 2003 document called test.doc, the Open-Save dialog box says:
    Name: test.doc
    Type: Microsoft Word document..etc.
The behaviour is the same for all Office 2003 documents, pdfs and images. However, it seems like UCM does not identify Office 2007 documents. When I check-in a content - test.pptx, and click on the Web Location URL, it prompts me to Open/Save a 'ZIP' file, which is what UCM does for any unidentified file formats.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
The file formats under configuration manager have been updated to include the following formats with PASSTHRU conversion (since we dont need any conversion on these):
    pptx: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.presentation
    docx: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document
    xlsx: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet
The desired functionality is that when the user clicks on web location url, UCM should identify these file formats, and NOT consider them as ZIP files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try these - if you're using IIS. If not, them something similar should fix.
Update IIS to include additional MIME types
Also, if you want to add all of the Microsoft Office 2007 mime-types to IIS in one step you can do this:
    1. Stop IIS
    2. Edit the metabase XML file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\MetaBase.xml) using a text editor.
    3. Search for the <IIsMimeMap Location="/LM/MimeMap" …> element and append the lines below to the MimeMap attribute
    .docm,application/vnd.ms-word.document.macroEnabled.12
    .docx,application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document
    .dotm,application/vnd.ms-word.template.macroEnabled.12
    .dotx,application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.template

    .potx,application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.template

    .ppsm,application/vnd.ms-powerpoint.slideshow.macroEnabled.12
    .ppsx,application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.slideshow
    .pptm,application/vnd.ms-powerpoint.presentation.macroEnabled.12
    .pptx,application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.presentation
    .xlam,application/vnd.ms-excel.addin.macroEnabled.12
    .xlsb,application/vnd.ms-excel.sheet.binary.macroEnabled.12
    .xlsm,application/vnd.ms-excel.sheet.macroEnabled.12
    .xlsx,application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet
    .xltm,application/vnd.ms-excel.template.macroEnabled.12
    .xltx,application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.template
    4. Save the C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\MetaBase.xml file
    5. Start IIS
    6. Perform Collection Rebuild on Content Server

    Hi,
I am using Weblogic 6. I have created a new Web
Application called Web (I have not used the DefaultWebApp_myserver).
And I have the following settings:
    Name : Web
    URI : Web
    and Path : C:\Web
and placed my JSP files under c:\Web\
I am able to access the first page, but after that I am not able to access the
    second page.
I get "Error 404--Not Found" on the browser. Basically the class file is not getting
    created under /Web-inf/_tmp_war_myserver_myserver_Web/jsp_servlet/ folder .
I tried a work around for this. I copied all my files under one more folder called
web and placed this under C:\Web
The it works. Now I have 2 copied off all the files, 1 copy under c:\web and another
    copy under c:\web\web\.
If I have the files under DefaultWebApp_myserver and have the setting as
    Name: DefaultWebApp_myserver
    URI: DefaultWebApp_myserver
    Path: .\config\mydomain\applications
    everything works fine.
Can any one please let me know if there is any configuration which has to be done
so that I do not duplicate the code in 2 directories
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I am using Weblogic 6. I have created a new Web
Application called Web (I have not used the DefaultWebApp_myserver).
And I have the following settings:
    Name : Web
    URI : Web
    and Path : C:\Web
and placed my JSP files under c:\Web\
I am able to access the first page, but after that I am not able to access the
    second page.
I get "Error 404--Not Found" on the browser. Basically the class file is not getting
    created under /Web-inf/_tmp_war_myserver_myserver_Web/jsp_servlet/ folder .
I tried a work around for this. I copied all my files under one more folder called
web and placed this under C:\Web
The it works. Now I have 2 copied off all the files, 1 copy under c:\web and another
    copy under c:\web\web\.
If I have the files under DefaultWebApp_myserver and have the setting as
    Name: DefaultWebApp_myserver
    URI: DefaultWebApp_myserver
    Path: .\config\mydomain\applications
    everything works fine.
Can any one please let me know if there is any configuration which has to be done
so that I do not duplicate the code in 2 directories
    Thanks in advance.
