Configuring Workbench behind a HTTP proxy

Hi,
I'm trying to configure the access to Endeca Workbench v 3.1.2 through a ProxyPass configured as follows:
<VirtualHost *:81>
ServerName workbench.etc.com
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_proxy.c>
RewriteEngine on
ProxyPass / http://<hostName>:8006/
ProxyPassReverse / http://<hostName>:8006/
</IfModule>
</IfModule>
</VirtualHost>
It works fine with the workbench home page and the endeca_jspref, but when I try to access, for example, to the EAC Connection Settings page, I get a 503 error. I found out that in the EAC Connection Settings case, but it's the same for the other sections, the html page contains an iframe which points directly to "<hostName>:8006" and this prevents us to correctly display the page.
Is there something I can configure in order to make the Workbench correctly point to our virtual host?

A long-shot, and I've not tried this, but have you tried setting: ProxyPreserveHost On [1]?

  • Spotify behind a https proxy

    Hi,
    At work I am using Spotify connected by a https proxy. It seems Spotify does not like this kind of connection as the following is broken:
    Browse (only the loading gif shows here)
    Discover (no images shown)
    Artist overview page (no images in album list)
    Who to follow: No images
    App finder: No images
    Apps won't work
    Can you please fix these bugs?
    Oh, and this is on Spotify for Windows version 0.9.6.81

  • Using JSF2 war behind a http proxy

    Hello World,
    I have a JSF2 enterprise app, whose .war module is deployed on a GlassFish 3.0.1 (b22). The site "front" server is an apache 2 (httpd), which forwards the request to the GF3, based on the initial part of path of the request.
    So the user goes to www.company.com/siteA/app/index.xhtml, and the request is forwarded by the apache to <glassfish-ip>/app/indexA.xhtml.
    As JSF uses absolute urls, and the GF has no idea it is running behind a proxy, this breaks the navigation and form submission.
    I found some ViewHandlers that rewrite the URLs as relative, but they break the "bookmarkability" of the links - properties that should be injected via viewParams (e.g
    <f:viewParam name="id" value="#{ctrl.entryId}"/> ) never get populated.
    As running behind a proxy is a very common situation, there must be some out-of-the-box solution..... right?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michael
    RelativeViewHandler: [The RelativeViewHandler|http://ahoehma.wordpress.com/tag/view-handler/]

    I'm not spruiking anything, and I'll try to be more precise about the "absolute" part.
    The URLs that JSF emits start with "/<app-name>/...". This prevent your test and production applications from getting mixed up. However, having the "/" at the beginning means that the browser interprets the path as absolute within the domain:
    The browser goes to "www.company.com/tests/TestApp-war/Welcome.xhtml"
    Apache rederects www.company.com/tests requests to GF.
    GF emits "/TestApp-war/Welcome.xhtml".
    When the user submits the form, the browser goes to "www.company.com/TestApp-war/Welcome.xhtml" (no /test after the domain name).
    I'm pretty sure i can make GF/JSF use relative urls, but I couldn't find where.

    As I said before, while I've had OS 1.1.4, everything was normal. It began when I upgraded to 2.0.2 and after to 2.1. I also double checked if the TI here changed the policies, and they assured me they don't.
    Several other users with 2.x are also reporting the same trouble. As far as now, I've came across a post suggesting me to install a local http proxy on the phone, but I don't think it's gonna work.

  • Configuring the application server to use HTTP proxy server

    Hi,
    I am trying to configure LiveCycle ES2 to access services over the internet and since my Livecycle server connects to internet through a Proxy server, I have referred to section 5.8.2 of LiveCycle install_weblogic.pdf that states the following:
    If the computer that LiveCycle ES2 is running on uses proxy settings to access external web sites, the
    application server should be started with the following values set as Java virtual machine (JVM)
    arguments:
      -Dhttp.proxyHost= [server host]
    -Dhttp.proxyPort= [server port]
    However, I am getting the below exception while running the LC application as my Proxy server requires User credentials to connect to the internet:
    weblogic.net.http.HttpUnauthorizedException: Proxy or Server Authentication Required.
    I tried providing the below JVM startup argument too, but no luck:
    -Dhttp.proxyUser= [proxy user]
    -DhttpPassword= [Proxy password]
    Can you please suggest how to configure User credentials for the Proxy server in Livecycle.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi WASIL,
    Thank you for your response.
    I have followed the above document suggested by yourself and the relevant steps while setting up the Server and the Workbench, and verified the settings too.
    The installation guide does highlight the steps to configure a Proxy server. However, the guide does not mention anything about how to handle Proxy server authentication.
    Please note that there are Proxy authenication options available in Workbench to configure how the Workbench connects to the LiveCycle server, whereas the problem I am facing here is how to connect the LiveCycle server with internet services through a Proxy server.
    I hope that clears the problem statement.
    Thankyou for your assistance.

    In osb you can configure a HTTP proxy server. Once this is done all BS http/https requests will be through the configured proxy server.

  • Just bought ATV. hope http proxy setting will be in UI instead of via apple configurator

    i just bought apple TV and loaded latest firmware 5.2.
    from the knowledge base, understand that http proxy can be setup via apple configurator after ver 5.1.
    it can only be installed in MAC.
    i am really hope your developer team could bring the said function out to user interface instead of going through all the hassle.
    looking forward for your early reply

    Thanks for the idea. I had already thought about using aliases but that wouldn't stop the Application folder showing a looooooooooong list o applications. As I said, having things clear is just a crazy habit of mine. Now that I know the trick I will just "survive" having FCS applications in their default location. I know I'm the only one here doing things differently. It's just that I have never had that problem with any other application and it was turning me crazy.
    By the way, if anyone would like to use aliases, using an underscore as the first characters help having things on top of the list. For instance, the alias "_Multimedia" would appear before "Adobe".

  • Endeca 2.2.2 /Liferay 5.2 behind a webSEAL proxy

    Hi,
    We have to install an Endeca 2.2.2 portal, based on Liferay 5.2.3, behind an IBMs’ webSEAL portal.
    The webSEAL proxy is capable, among others, of transforming the static URLs in all responses into ones that will hit the proxy instead of the one that runs Liferay, so most of the pages work without any configuration on the Liferay side. However, some dynamically created URLs are not intercepted and thus, will break the page.
    We went back to using the built-in functionality for configuring Liferay behind a proxy (by using web.server.host and web.server.http.port parameters), but we found that the very helpful portal.proxy.path configuration property is available only starting with version 6.1. In order to overcome this, the first simple solution was to create a virtual host and map its’ root to the root of the Liferay portal. I have done it with an Apache proxy at it worked as expected.
    The question is if we can easily do the same thing with the webSEAL proxy. I know that the latter has similar virtualisation features, one being virtual host junction that might do the trick. Has anyone used this feature to integrate Liferay?
    Did anyone use another way for exposing an Endeca 2.2.2/Liferay 5.2 portal through a webSEAL proxy?
    Thank you,
    Marius

    Hi Brett,
    It’s an absolute URL generated from a popup used by the Export action of the Results Table portlet. We have another one that expands the same export functionality and it exhibits the same symptom. Those appear to be the only pieces that don`t work.
    I am pretty sure that, as you say, the pattern matching proxy definition could do the trick. Since this was the starting point in our webSEAL implementation I tried to add the patterns as I discovered them. However, since we have to deploy the app behind a corporate proxy and we were given a single entry point to begin with, it might be that people would not be comfortable with a proliferation of maps. Their legitimate question will be how come we cannot put it all behind that one entry (like Liferay 6.1 would do).
    We are going to suggest either a virtual junction solution or, as an alternative, as you suggest, a series of patterns in a normal junction and see which one the customer is more comfortable with.
    Thanks a lot,
    Marius

  • System http proxy config

    Hi, new to 10. I have a fully functional network using DNS. My sparc Solaris machine has a static address. Inside is fine but I can't get outside. The lan I'm on is behind a firewall and used a proxy for http. I can't seem to get the network config correct. Any pointer would be great. I have set the defaultrouter as my gateway. Also tried adding the proxy to the defaultrouter. Many combinations have been tried.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply. The network works except for the http proxy. I can ping other machines on the net both from the hosts file and through dns. I'm behind a firewall with an http proxy server. How to I configure my system to be able to use the proxy?
    Thanks

  • Http proxy authentication for JDev 10.1.3

    Hi,
    I found the http proxy settings in the "tools->preferences->Web Browser and Proxy" but there are no settings for the username and password. Is there some other way that I can add these.
    The problem is that whenver JDeveloper wants to do some http stuff it (or something else is doing it) asks me for the proxy user name & password - this happens over and over again. If JDev is doing this then surely it should remember the username & password.
    I sometimes get a JDeveloper dialog "waiting for the connection" come up over the proxy auth dialog and I have to cancel the function so I can authenticate, then re-request the function.
    I wish I didn't have the proxy authentication but I have no choice in this dev environment. I do get to choose JDeveloper at least.
    Regards,
    Simon.

    Hi,
    I get it when I 'check for updates' and I get it again when I 'go to JavaDoc' - and this is the one where the "waiting for connection dialog" pops on top of the proxy log in and I have to cancel it to log in. Then all subsequent 'go to JavaDoc' requests go straight through.
    I would prefer it if I could just configure (in proxy preferences) the username and password so it never asks me. I dont care if it less secure storing the password since I think authenticating proxies are a dumb idea anyway. If the password is not supplied then JDev can ask for it like it does now to keep the security-paranoid people happy.
    Also, this morning I got this Exception which appeared at the same time I got a proxy auth window. When JDev finally started all my previously open windows were lost. No real problem but unexpected. Here is the stack dump:
