Confirmation for submitted forms

When someone submits a form that was distributed to them via email, is there a way they can receive a confirmation message to let them know their form was received? Right now, individuals are left wondering...

If you submit to a server-side script, such as ASP.net or PHP, you can send the submission and respond with a FDF status message or redirect to a URL.

  • Change sender email for submitted Form emails

    I built a website for a client using Muse and the Form widget through Business Catalyst. However, now whenever the client gets emails from a submitted form, it says its coming from MY email. How do I change the sender so that they recognize that it's not a personal email from me, but rather a submitted website form. Hope that makes sense!

    UPDATE: I just figured it out after having posted this no less than 10 mins ago. Thanks community, your genius overflowed to me and helped me solve my own problem. For anyone who is curious, in the Business Catalyst Admin Console, Under the Site Manager tab in the menu, you simply click "System Email" and the "Set default from email."   I can't believe I missed that, and I call myself a professional. Hope it helps someone else!

  • Error submitting form for Distribution: "The filename you specified is not valid because it does not

    Error submitting form for Distribution:
    "The filename you specified is not valid because it does not include a .pdf extension, contains one or more invalid characters or teh path preceding it refers to a protected system location."
    Tried removing dashes from filename, shortenign filename, moving to root directory. No changes. File ends with a .pdf extension.
    This is my first attempt to distribute via acrobat.com

    I found that I got that same message using Acrobat Professional to send out a document for shared review.  I had an exclamation mark in the title of the PDF. When I took out the exclamation mark, it worked.
    So maybe try taking out anything "unusual" (parentheses, dashes, exclamation marks, etc.) in the file name and see if that helps.
    Good luck,

    My mail forms created by muse 2014.0.1.30 do not work. PHP 5.4 is enabled by my hoster, so they should work. Can anyone help me, for these forms are crucial for my business. The forms confirm delivery, but the mails are not recieved. No spam filters enabled.
    Meanwhile, I was able to narrow the problem down: PHP seems not to accept a re-directed mail address as sender of the mail in some cases. So, it has nothing to do with the mail form itself.

  • F4 help not working in custom backend service for PD form

    Dear All,
    Iam working with the Create position HCM PD form and i have a requirement to add two fields, one for the company code and the other is for the cost center and then create the relationship betwee the position and the cost center when the form is submitted.
    I have defined a generic service and created an enhancement implementation and linked this generic service to the imppementaion. I have written the logic for the F4 help for the fields in the method GET_HELP_VALUES, i have written the scripting for the drop down field in the form to trigger the F4 help in the form.
    When the cost center is being passed to the screen, i would then read the value of the cost center in the form workflow and create the relationship between S and K in the workflow as i am unable to achiev this in the design time of the PD form.
    But my current problem in that he values are not getting passed from the method to the field on the screen. I have worked on quite a few scenarios for F4 help and doing validations in the implementation in the PA form and i have seen this functionality working fine.
    My problem here is that i am unable to understand why the F4 value help is not working in my form. The standard PD service SAP_PD is also being used in the form to have the dropdown values for the account assignment feature.
    Could you please suggest me with some clues to fix my issue? i can share more details for further analysis.
    Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Sridharan

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for your inputs. please see my reply to your questions
    First....are you sure you have "marked" that field as possible for F4 help?
    Reply: Yes
    Second...are you populating the help values strictly from that method...ie. not also using do_operations method to do it. If you refer to the documenation, it points out that trying to use both can cause issues.
    Reply: i am using only the GET_HELP_VALUES method and nothing written in do_operations.
    Third...when you debug your method, do you "see" the help values actually populating and as you say "not coming back to the screen"? I would check this first to make sure that there are actually values being found (ie. the logic within your service is correct).
    Reply: i have put the external break-point in this method and when the form in opened for processing by the HR admininstrator,the form openes up and the control is not being sent to the debugger.  I have written the scripting in the exit event of the events and scripts as suggested in the SAP help document. SO when i click on the dropdown field in the form, the debugger starts and executes the method and the code executes, then no values are populated on the screen.
    Fourth...are you using any generic services for populating help values as well. HCM P&F has a nasty habit of "if one GS fails, they all fail" so often, your service might work fine but an error in another makes yours appear to fail as well....hard to debug and find those kind.
    Reply: Yes i am using the generic service mainly for the purpose of F4 help. I do not see any issue with other gneric services as i have implemented a few generic services for PA forms and they are working fine.
    Fifth...oops...forgot the obvious one...make sure it isn't a security issue...ie. make sure you have access to read the cost centers you want.
    Reply: I dont get any auth error in SU53 while i test the process in R3
    Lastly, you said:
    "When the cost center is being passed to the screen, i would then read the value of the cost center in the form workflow and create the relationship between S and K in the workflow as i am unable to achiev this in the design time of the PD form."
    You actually should be able to do this using an Advanced/Enhanced Generic Service (if this is in fact the step at which you want a true update to occur). Just a thought.
    Reply: Could you please give some more information about this, how can i achieve it in advanced generic service.
    Appreciate more thougts from you Chris!
    Thanks,
    Sridharan

  • When we go for Abobe forms

    Hi Friends
    I want to know when we can go for Adobe Forms?
    Means what the advantages of Adobe Forms over scripts/smartroms.
    Is there any scenorios where scripts/smartforms will lack to adobe froms.
    I need advantages of adobe forms comparing with scripts/smartforms.
    <b>Points are assured for useful answers.</b>
    Regards,
    Sree

    Adobe Interactive Forms based on Adobe software in SAP solutions prevents media breaks in business processes that are linked to forms. The solution combines XML data with the Adobe PDF format and enables forms containing the corresponding data to be generated from an SAP application. Information entered by users is automatically extracted from the form and passed to the application.
    In adobe forms,the form template (and any other associated items such as graphics or images) is stored in the SAP database (in ABAP development) or the Design Time Repository (in Java development). At run time, the template is rendered into a PDF with the data enclosed, and displayed in the browser.
    After a user has filled out and submitted a form, it is up to the individual application to decide what happens with the PDF file. The data is extracted from the form by the Adobe document services, and the PDF has basically served its purpose. However, it may be necessary for legal reasons to store the filled-in PDF form in the application database for future reference.
    Generation of fillable PDF forms from Smart Forms/sapscript is not possible.
    Adobe Interactive Forms is shipped as a part of SAP Web AS 6.40. SAP Web AS 6.40 can be connected to lower-release backend systems to exchange data (using RFC).

  • Submitting Forms via Email

    I have created an order form in LiveCycle that i wish to post on my website. I want my customers to be able to open the form directly from the site, fill it in, click submit, and for their form to be emailed directly back to me. I have tried a couple of different forms, however, when the customers click the submit button, nothing is ever sent, it will only ever try to save the document elsewhere, and this is not practical for my customers. I am convinced that i have set the form up correctly, and distributed it correctly in Adobe Acrobat, but it still does not work.
    Any help would be highly appreciated!!

    Unfortunately, I think that the only data structure you can get with Designer is XML. If you recast the form in Acrobat (form tools are under the TOOLS menu, not the FORMS menu (this one takes you to Designer), you should be able to select HTML as an output data format. The only reason that would be important is if you collected the data in cgimail or formmail. An example of HTML for a web form is given at "http://www.computing.vt.edu/internet_and_web/web_publishing/webmasters_toolkit/web_form_ma iler/quickstart.html". Yes, this is HTML, but you can do the same thing by including the hidden fields in a PDF form and submitting to the formmail server. You can not use this one as it only works for folks at VT, but it provides an example. You can check with your ISP provider to see if there is such a form service available to you.
    As sample form return from a HTML submit is as follows (from a different server than the VT.EDU one above):

    Tax:        3.47
    Shipping:        8.00
    Total:        88.47
    =======================================================
    If this suffices, then submitting your form as HTML data with the hidden fields will do the job.
    If that is not adequate, then at least just submit the data to you by e-mail (that will do for 80-90% of the time) while you work out how to submit to a web server. The XML or FDF files can be imported to the form file, giving you the same result as if the full form had been sent (and no extended rights are needed). With a little programming skill, or with the form, you can insert the data from the form to a database file (sorry, I have not done it, just know you can).
    I suggest you try to work things out in steps until you reach the final solution needed. Bill

  • I need help fleshing out an idea for a form

    I have a form I build for my agency that adds records to a database.  It's sort of an online survey that's used by different offices within my agency, and it's "recycled" every year or so.
    It consists of some info fields for the user filling it out (name, organization, etc) that are always there, but it also has some textarea fields that change whenever it's "recycled".
    It's a large form with a lot of serverside error checking, and it's a bit tedious to recode the HTML (not to mention the target page) everytime the form gets recycled, so I had an idea.
    My idea was to create a table in the database for the form, and have the following columns:
    field_type (i.e. text, textarea,  etc)
    field_name (for the name="" of the input tag
    field_label (for the <label> tag)
    field_size
    field_order (so I can control the order that the fields show up)
    Then use a query to have my CF page dynamically build the form.
    While I'm pretty sure the above would work, I'm not so sure how to code the target page, since the FORM.names won't remain the same.  I thought about tying to capture all the form fields in some sort of array, but I'm not really sure how to do that.  Any ideas?

    There is one answer. However, it makes the form even longer!
    Consider that the columns you've mentioned represent attributes of each form field. Then include hidden form fields to hold the values of these attributes. For example, for the text field named abracadabra, you will have something like
    <input name="abracadabra" type="text">
    <input name="abracadabra_type" type="hidden" value="text">
    <input name="abracadabra_label" type="hidden" value="mylabel">
    <input name="abracadabra_size" type="hidden" value="10">
    <input name="abracadabra_order" type="hidden" value="3">
    When the form is submitted, the values in the action page will be
    form.abracadabra
    form.abracadabra_type
    form.abracadabra_label
    form.abracadabra_size
    form.abracadabra_order

  • Best option for hosting forms online and archiving the completed forms?

    Forgive the length of this post, but I feel it necessary to give a little background information into our problem.
    We were looking for a simple solution to a seemingly simple problem: Host ~15 safety forms online for field technicians (electricians) to fill out via their netbooks and submit to some sort of repository for archiving with the ability for the technicians to reopen the forms and make additions over the course of the job / week as well as firing an email off to our H&S rep per form submitted.
    Acrobat + Remote Desktop Services (SBS 2011 network) + Reader seemed like a good solution and does work, but it's somewhat cumbersome for the less computer literate techs and proving to be more time in support then we are potentially saving going with paperless forms. This is the system we have in place now.
    We initially purchased Acrobat Standard and subsequently upgraded to Professional when we found some limitations we weren't expecting in Acrobat Standard. An Adobe Sales rep also suggested that we check out Livecycle Designer 9, which was included with Acrobat Pro which included even more nice stuff. I started re-authoring the forms in LCD9.
    The issue now is that I have Dynamic XML forms with flowed content that cannot be submitted by Reader to sharepoint. Why? You can't reader extend livecycle forms with acrobat, which it is bundled with.....
    Why exactly adobe has two different and somewhat incompatible forms authoring tools bundled in the same product is beyond me, especially when one of them requires what I would imagine is an expensive server product to enable it's full use?
    So it seems I have a choice between having my employer purchase Reader Extensions ES2 to maintain the nice form design with flowed content, purchasing 12 copies of acrobat to put on the netbooks when Reader SHOULD be all that we need or converting all the dynamic XML forms authored in LCD9 into static AcroForms so they can be reader extended and deployed to sharepoint.
    We envision our technicians browsing to and logging in to our hosted sharepoint server, selecting the appropriate form template from a drop down list in a doc library or list, which opens the form for completion in the browser and on submit posts the form to a list on sharepoint for completed forms, preferably with some key fields mapped to custom columns in said list AND with the ability for the submitting technician to re-open the submitted form from sharepoint and make additions as the week / job progresses.
    What would be the best option given our current situation and needs? With all due respect, I am looking for suggestions from technically oriented or experienced persons, not sales reps that don't fully know the product.

    Ok, so I have done some additional reading and I've found out that Livecycle forms can be submitted via reader without reader extensions so long as the submit is via HTTP Post or as XML data only.
    This effectively means you can collect the data from the submitted forms for processing, but you can not re-render the form from the form template and the XML without the presumably expensive server component, Reader Extensions, which for all I know, requires other components to run.
    This all seems awfully expensive for a solution to host a dozen or so forms and archive the submissions in one place where they can be re-opened and added to.
    I don't undestand why it's so prohibitively expensive to submit dynamic PDF forms as PDF vs submitting static PDF forms as PDF, which can be done with Acrobat Pro all by itself at ~$500.

  • Good, easy, reliable CAPTCHA for PHP form

    Does anyone know of a reliable (and easy to impliment) CATPCHA for PHP forms? My website is having the hell spammed out of it!
    There are loads out there, but I need a recommended one - and one that a novice like me can install!

    Thank you for all your help, but I must be doing something wrong.
    The 'hidden' field in my form is called 'ip'. So, I inserted this:
    if (!empty($_POST['ip'])) { return false; }
    ...but they're still getting submitted to my database - complete with information in the "ip" field.
    I have insertted it at the following ponit in my php:
      mysql_select_db($database_DB1, $DB1);
      $Result1 = mysql_query($insertSQL, $DB1) or die(mysql_error());
      $insertGoTo = "/thanku.php";
      if (isset($_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'])) {
        $insertGoTo .= (strpos($insertGoTo, '?')) ? "&" : "?";
        $insertGoTo .= $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'];
      header(sprintf("Location: %s", $insertGoTo));
    Can you offer any other help?

  • Submitting form to portlet

    I'm having trouble getting form fields to be visible to a portlet when I submit the form to the page containing the portlet. I've tried setting the page parameters to be the same names as the form fields and then having those page parameters passed into the portlet, but no matter what I try, the portlet doesn't see the submitted form fields.
    What am I doing wrong?

    The Form portlrts needs to be submitted using the call interface API given in the edit screen of the page.
    In order to get the same, Goto Navigator -> Providers -> Locally Built Providers -> Click on your Provider Link -> Here you see "Call Interface Show".
    Click on the link and get the URL Interface shown also with example (make sure to pass the module_id as a parameter):
    For E.g. i invoke my portlet as,
    http://pvasista-pc.idc.oracle.com/pls/portal/PORTAL.wwa_app_module.link?p_arg_names=_moduleid&p_arg_values=1144663114&p_arg_names=_show_header&p_arg_values=YES&p_arg_names=P_EMPID&p_arg_values=' + 100;
    Here i pass the parameter p_arg_names to 100. and all other parameters are required.

    Hi Gen,
    Unfortunately, the error came from a client who was submitting a form via Mac OS.  He stated that when he attempted to submit he received a symbol error.
    On another note, I did experience issues with periods (.) within another form such as 2009.01 and 2011.25.  When I downloaded the files corresponding to the numbers, it wouldn’t allow me to save it with the period (used an underscore instead).
