Conflict with text variable on Query Designer

Hi,
this is the scenario:
- On Query Designer i got two restricted key figures: K1 and K2.
- I'm usign a manual entered variable for 0CALMONTH.
- On K1 the sales are restricted for the selected month.
- On K2 the sales are restricted to a range between first month of the year, and the selected month-1.
Then on a formula i use K1+K2 and a text variable (selected month) for the name of the column. Then, when running the query, the text for the variable can't be found. There is a conflict on text variable when using 2 restricted key figures on the formula.
How can i solve it ?
thx

Hi,
I assume that your text variable is of replacement type?
If it doesn't work you can create a new text variable of user exit type and derive its value using entered 0CALMONTH.
Best regards,
Eugene

  • Name of column using text variable in Query Designer

    Hello!
I have 3 columns with amounts, 1 characteristic value variable and 1 text variable.
For example, names of this columns - 2005 year, 2006 year, 2005/2006.
I fill names using only one text variable and I can call first 2 column. I use set offset of variables for second column.
How can I call third column ''2005/2006"?

    Hi,
u need a second Text varaible and u need to correct your existing text variable.
Prerequisite: u need for your key figures the same KF-variable
    1. Edit your existing text variable  lets say its called &Text1&
    2. Select your Text variable and go to tab "replacement path"
    3. Choose a) InfoObject b) Choose key
    4. In section "use value range" choose from  value
    5. Create a new text variable lets call it &Text2&
    6. make exact the same settings as for your first text variable butchoose for "value range" to value
Now u use this text variables for your KF:
    KF 1 -> &Text1&
    KF 2 -> &Text1&
    KF 3 -> &Text1& / &Text2&
    This should make it!!

  • Text variables in query not taken over into univers

    Dear all,
We are working with text variables in our SAP BI queries ( &ZVAR001& ) for example, which are translated to 01.2008 02.2008 etc at query execution time.
When we build the BO Univers on top of such query, the text variables are not dynamically filled, but BO takes the variable name as value...
We are using BI 7 & XI 3.1
Did anyone had similar experience and/or solutions ? This is quite an annoying lack.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stefaan.

    Hello Ingo
The most commonly used structure I have come across, is a structure where you have YTD, MTD last year etc. values.
As far as I can judge such structures or calculations are not very easily done in Webi (But I may be wrong here), hence the customer will want to use the structure. But it is quite tiresome to have to redo all headers of the structure.
But assuming I do the headers in Webi, I will need to obtain the value of the prompt answers. But so far I have not been able to get the value of a prompt answer using UserResponse() (when the prompt is auto-generated based on a BW variable). See also this thread:
Using UserResponse on BW originating prompts
    Can you help out here?

  • How to assign current date/time to a formula variable in Query Designer

How do I assign the current date to a formula variable in Query Designer? I need to use current data in a calculation and just need the date the report was run.
    Thanks

    Hi Philip,
There is an SAP formula variable to supply the current date in a formula. I think it is 0F_ADAY...install it from business content if you cannot see it in the query designer (formula box, under formula variables) and try using it.
    Hope this helps...

  • Problem with Variable in Query Designer.

    hi all,
we have a variable ZAMREG on characteristic AM Region, where AM region is attribute for two different master data objects mastobj1 and mastobj2, we have different infosets build on these two master data objects along with some other ODS.
now this variable ZAMREG is visible in one of the infosets only in query designer, whereas it is not visible in the other infoset.
    what could be the problem??
    thanks,
    Rk

    Hi,
Please check if that variable is created locally or globally. If it is a local variable in any query, it will not appear in any other query.
In anyways, you can always create one more variable if the older one is not available. This will not make much of difference. I would suggest go ahead with creating a new variable.

  • Text Variables in Query Title

I have a requirement in BI to have the Calenday Day/Month display in the Title of my Query.  I know how to do this with Calendar Year and Calendar Year/Month, using TEXT VARIABLES.  However, I was wondering if this was possible using Calenday Day.  And if so, are there any pre-requisites?
The problem that I have come across is that when I create a new text variable and reference Calenday Year (after choosing replacement path), when I search for a  Calendar Day Variable to use, I don't see them displaying in my choices.  Any help, would be appreciated.

    Hi Maximina,
if the element is not in your variable list than please close query designer and than open it again.
Text variables on calendar day works as other text variables.
If you still cant see it just enter it "directly" in the description field.
If the name of your variable is "ZDAYTEXT" than write &ZDAYTEXT& in the description.
Dont use the F4 help. This must work.

  • Issue with text variable by replacement path

    Hello All
I have a date field called ZDATE1 (it is based on 0DATE). I have used this this IO in a query and have create variables on it (ZSTARTDT and ZENDDT), Start and End date. And my KFs are based on these 2 dates: Quantity - Start Date & Quantity - End Date  / Product Value - Start Date & Product Value - End Date. Those are my descriptions for my KFs.
Now, I want the replace the descriptions "Start Date and End Date" with the actual values that I am entering like 09/01/2010 and 09/10/2010. Ex: Quantity - 9/01/2010 & Quantity - 9/10/2010.
Therefore, I create 2 Text Variables,
         1. ZSTART, Replacement Path, Ref Char (ZDATE1), Replace by Variable ZSTARTDT, with KEY, offset - blank
         2. ZEND, Replacement Path, Ref Char (ZDATE1), Replace by Variable ZENDDT,      with KEY, offset - blank
And I put these text variables in the descriptions. But when I run the query, I still see: Quantity - &ZSTART& and Quantity - &ZEND&.
Note that my ZDATE1 which is based on 0DATE does not have a master data table or text table; it is purely transaction data. Does that mean, my text replacement path variables wont work.
    Any suggestions??

    Hi,
The text variable is replaced when the exact date is clear for this key figure column according to the restriction.
To achive this, please make sure that either the variable is directly restricted in the key figure selection, or that the date characteristic is in drilldown.
    Regards,
    Patricia

  • Date format in Bex Output should be changed while using with Text Variable

I am using a Bex Query where have defined a Text Variable with replacement path. So whatever Date user enters in the selection screen variable (Input Variable) the same date appears in the report description.
For Ex: If user enters 30.04.2012 in Char Variable/Input Variable before executing the report, so once he executes the report the same date appears on report description like "ABC Analysis as on 20120430". Is also changes the report description whenever user changes the date in selection screen variable.
My requirement is......Date format should be come as 30.04.2012 (DD.MM.YYYY) instead of 20120430 (YYYYMMDD) in report description.
Guys could you please help me out to achieve the desired output.
    Rgds,
    Ritu

Please check if you have selected Replace with Key in that text variable.
Instead of that select External characteristic value key.
This should help you in giving the desired output.

  • Coloumn Headings replace with text variable

    Guys
I have to display coloumn headings for my key figures to be able to match with the time period selection. Is it I need a text variable and if I do where do i create it and for what charachterstic.
Also i need to ;pick a variable values  based on other variables in the same query. can i do it through replacement variable or any other ideas.
    thanks

    Hi,
Yes, you are right you need a text variable in order to display the cloumn headings to match the time period selection.
Text variables with the processing type Replacement Path are replaced by a corresponding characteristic value. The value of a text variable has to be a text.
How to create & where to create a variable check here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f1/0a56a7e09411d2acb90000e829fbfe/content.htm
The Reference Characteristic you can use should be a time characteristic like "cal. year/month". Choose according to your query requirement.
    Hope this helps...
    Cheers,

  • 10 text variables in query ?

    Hello,
I have to create a query with a structure in in columns. I have to fill a variable on the selection screen (for example 0CALYEAR).
The query now lists the last 10 years in the other columns as an offset to the variable 0CALYEAR.
Now I want to see each year as a text in each column header.
Any ideas to avoid the creating of 10 text variables for each column ?
    Thanks a lot in advance....

    Hi,
Get the input for Calyear in some dummy key figure and populate the last 10 year value in user exit to calyear variable.
Drill down the calyear across the column and set the display as text.
    Hope this helps

  • About variables in query designer

what is the difference between replacement path and cmod in query designer?
    illustrate with an example?
    Regards,
    Bhavya K

    Hi,
    Replacement path:
When you create a variable ,if you want the variable to be replaced with the value from an info object/another variable /Query/Hierarchy  then we select Replacement path
    CMOD:
If the values for the variable are to be collected based on the ABAP logic written for the variable in CMOD then we go for CMOD selection.
    Refer the links for examples:

  • How to merge text attribute in query designer

    Hi,
please does anybody know, how to merge, let say, two text attributes of one characteristic into one long text? I know, that it is possible with method, which is finally called in the Web Application Designer. But I need to proceed this on the query level. It means, when I display result of query in query designer, I need to have two attributes merged into one long text. Is there some exit, method or something else, where can I do it?
    Thank you very much
    Best Regards
    J.

    Hello,
I don't think so we have string concatenation at query level.
You have to create / use existing info object and use string functions to achieve this.
Might be you could wait for some time to get more replies.
    Regards,
    Venkat
