How to merge text attribute in query designer

Hi,
please does anybody know, how to merge, let say, two text attributes of one characteristic into one long text? I know, that it is possible with method, which is finally called in the Web Application Designer. But I need to proceed this on the query level. It means, when I display result of query in query designer, I need to have two attributes merged into one long text. Is there some exit, method or something else, where can I do it?

Hello,
I don't think so we have string concatenation at query level.
You have to create / use existing info object and use string functions to achieve this.
Might be you could wait for some time to get more replies.

I have problems with incorrect text in SAP Query designer, I work with SAP codepage 1404 and I see all queries correct, but when I want to edit some query with some special character for czech language its problem. Query designer can=t use czech diacritic.

1) I want to change some hierarchy node position in production system, do i change directly in rsh1 by adding a node to another level ? or i must to change in a file source or ECC system ? if i change just on rsh1, i will lost all i have changed when Info package will be executed (in daily process chain)...? that's right?
2) I have a query already published in rôle, but i have to move it to another one, how can i do that in query designer please?

How to pass text in MDX query

Hi All,
I was wondering how to pass text in MDX query.
Below mentioned is my sample query and it is working fine.
SELECT
{[Measures].members} ON AXIS(0),
NON EMPTY [0MATERIAL].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS
*[0DOC_NUMBER].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ON AXIS(1)"
FROM [$ZTEST]"
WHERE {[0MATERIAL].[000012345]} ";
But in data base 000012345 consists of material name as Pepsi
Now based on Pepsi I want to fetch results? Is it possible?

Hi,
Restriction can be done only for navigational attribute.U cannot do restriction for display attirbute.
if it is a display attribute u want to restrict -make it navigational for that infoobject.
Also the attribute must be 'checked on' as navigational in the infoprovider as well on which the query is built.

Conflict with text variable on Query Designer

Hi,
this is the scenario:
- On Query Designer i got two restricted key figures: K1 and K2.
- I'm usign a manual entered variable for 0CALMONTH.
- On K1 the sales are restricted for the selected month.
- On K2 the sales are restricted to a range between first month of the year, and the selected month-1.
Then on a formula i use K1+K2 and a text variable (selected month) for the name of the column. Then, when running the query, the text for the variable can't be found. There is a conflict on text variable when using 2 restricted key figures on the formula.
How can i solve it ?

I assume that your text variable is of replacement type?
If it doesn't work you can create a new text variable of user exit type and derive its value using entered 0CALMONTH.

Missing attribute in query designer

Hi,
I need some reasonable explanation for an odd behaviour. Here is the scenario: a multiprovider, say X, has an infobject with some attributes where two of them are navigational and authorization relevant, but not for multiprovider X which had their checking disabled on RSSM. In Query Designer a query built on infoprovider X does not show these attributes in the "Attritbutes tree" below the infobject unless an specific authorization be given to the query owner with value * for the authorization object. Where is the trick if multiprovider X is told not to check these authorization relevant attributes? On the other hand, authorization relevant infobjetcs shouldn't be a matter of data selection? Why are they sensitive in query designer if their check are disebled for that multiprovider?
Does anyone know how to explain this?
By the way, I'm using BW 3.5.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I opened an OSS to SAP to answer why even the infoprovider having the object authorization unchecked, in design time with Query Designer the atribute was hidden. The consultant said that checking does matter only in runtime. In design time the user has to be fully authorized for the (authorization relevant) attribute to be seen, regardless whether the authorization object is or is not flagged on the infoprovider (transaction RSSM).
Below is a reply from Erick from another BI forum for this same issue that solved my problem. It may be helpful to you too.

I'm working on a BW 3.5 project and I've encountered the same issue.
The issue occurs if :
- an infoobject is authorisation relevant
- this infoobject is attribute of a master data
- the corresponding authorisation object is flagged in an infoprovider
- role included this object restrict value
Solution:
you have to create a new authorisation object link to your infoobject.
This new authorisation object has to flagged in NO infoprovider.
Then create a role including this authorisation object and affect * as value.
As a conclusion, you can build an additional role including each authorisation object (with *) linked to each infoobject authorisation relevant (which are master data atribute).

How To Make Infocube Visible in Query Designer?

hello,
i'm using BIW 3.10, i've just created infocube and succesfully populated it with data. I went through all the process from datasource (from R/3 masterdata), infosource, infoobjects and so on, until i get to browse the content of the infocube using the "Manage Data Targets" screen of rsa1->modeling->InfoProvider->Manage. Now my problem is how do i make the infocube visible in the Query Designer?

hi sid,
you have open bex analyzer, and click 'query', in next screen 'sap bex : select query', click 'new' (icon blank page), and click 'infoarea' in left side, you will see the infocube under your infoarea. hope this helps.
for new infocube, when there is no query created from this infocube, the infocube will invisible, since the screen is to select existing queries.

If we select the very first Characterstic in the rows section and set the Supress result rows as "never".
That will show the overall result in the end of the report,
In the query properties tab ,check for display properties of the result.That should be set to bottom.

How to create an exception in query designer?

I am new to BW. I created an exception and set the from and to limits with an alert level of green for an amount column. When I run this query in the web, it does not change the color to green for the condition in the amount column. What is the validity area of exception? Do I need to enter anything there? You need to change the default option Result only to all the cells in the second tab(cell defining) of Exceptions in query designer.

How to execute a report in Query Designer

No special setting needs to be done for this as it is working for some queries...could be a network issue, or something with the portal.

How to find static filter on Query designer

I created one variable ZCALMON_V_001 on the infoObject ZCALMON, and this variable is used on two query (QueryA, QueryB) for filter functionality, however, I tested the queryA and QueryB by tcode RSRT1, I find there is static filter on info tab of result for QueryA, and there is NOT static filter on QueryB, please refer to picture, do you know the root cuase? Hi Andrew,
In Query Designer for Query A, under Filter -> Characteristic Restrictions, there would be some static filters defined at query design time. These are called Static Filters because they have been hardcoded at design time & cannot be changed.on runtime. These Filters get fired at the Query level.

How to merge text files and put the result in a text file.

I am trying to merge the files(text) using OWB and I would like to put the result in a file. Could any one please explain how to do this.

using the unix commnad 'cat' along with the redirect '>>' will concat the files into one target
#this will create the target file and over-write it if it existed already
cat file1 > target
##Now add the rest of the files to the target, without over-writing
cat file2 >>target
cat file3 >>target
cat file16 >> target
You can then use an external table on the target file.
A nicer way would be to user a 'for loop', but this will work fine.

How to left trim in the query designer?

Hi all,
I have a sceanario like zcust_details contains abcde/1000276 where 1000276 is the customer code (sold to party) how do i truncate this in the query and then reference this field to solto party.
The issue is when the user run the query abcde/1000276 is been displayed but users wants 1000276 text to be displayed which is not been captured in bw system.
so how to truncate and reference the same with 0customer master and display the text values from 0customer text.

It would be easier to achieve this on bachend. You can truncate and store the result in another Object and then display it in your Query.
