Confusing Interface Icon

Greetings:
I hope someone can help with this question. I just noticed that almost every song in my ITunes library (5300+) has the small grey circle with the white arrow in the Name, Artist, and Album columns. I've never really noticed this icon before so I don't know how long it's been there or even if it should be there.
When I click on it, the computer attempts to connect to the Apple Music Store. Before I go any further I need to point out that I have never bought anything from the Music Store. I don't even have an account with them.
But after hacking around the preferences for awhile, I noticed that if I click "Disable Music Store" in the Parental Preferences, the circles go away. As I said, none of these songs were purchased through Apple. They are all from my own personal CD collection. The only songs that don't display the circle are some of the songs recorded by my band. But even this isn't consistent. Some of band's songs have the circle, others don't. Some only have the icon in the artist column
So I'm confused. Why does this circle appear with the majority of songs? Why does it try to connect to the Music Store. Why does it go away when I turn off access to the Music Store?
I also noticed that in the Advanced Preferences, Deauthorize this Computer is lit up. I was going to click on it, but then started thinking there might be some bizarre reason the library thinks everything is from Apple, and if I deauthorized the computer I might not have access to my own songs.
Is this a bug? Or is it something I should just ignore? Or is this just a way Apple encourages you to visist the store? Hopefully this is just something simple I've overlooked. Maybe this should be posted in the Music Store Boards, but since I don't have an account with them, I thought I would start here.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions...

There is another use for those arrows. If you option-click on the arrow beside and artist or album name, you will end up with a listing of just that artist or album. There is a script or program around to reverse the order of the actions, so that you would click on the arrows to get the arist or album list.
You do not need a iTunes account to browse the music store and the arrows that take you to the store acts like a sales brochure - "Here's what we got".
Do you have a playlist named "Purchased" or any tracks listed as "Protected AAC" in the Kind column? If so, then you have some music from the music store and you shouldn't de-authorize your computer.

  • Interface icon with exclamation symbol

    Hi,
    In my ODI project there is a small symbol shown at one of my interfaces icon.
    It's an orange triangle with a black exclamation mark on it.
    I have no idea, what this exclamation mark symbol means.
    In this interface there seems to be everything ok, there are no errors.
    Does anybody know the meaning of this symbol?
    Thanks,
    H.

    Further to what I've said I've been all over the discussion posts on this site, and the help pages, but I've been unable to find a suitable answer!!
    My mini ipod has taken me to my wits end. My ipod
    always opens with a folder icon with an exclamation
    mark. I can get it in to disk mode but my laptop
    doesn't see it whether I'm using itunes, explorer, or
    updater. When the mini ipod is plugged into my
    laptop it displays 'do not disconnect' and the
    circular arrows in the top left hand corner are
    displayed but they aren't moving. I've been all over
    the website but everything seems to assume I can
    communicate with the **** thing. Restore seems to be
    the preferred option but as I can't communicate with
    it that isn't possible as far as I can see. This
    happened when I tried to updated ipod software from
    version 1.3 to version 1.4. It's not possible to go
    back as I can't communicate with the ipod in order to
    perform this task. It's going to get lobbed out of a
    high building soon and replaced with a Sony......can
    any get me out of this hole???

  • ODI Interface Icon with I or U

    Can anyone please explain what is the difference between ODI interface icons with an I or U ?

    It's part of ODI's internal version control.  'I' means than the object has been inserted and 'U' means that the object has been updated since the last version.

  • Question about google search and icons on iphone interface icons.

    Hey everyone. I noticed that I can look up images on google but nothing comes up when I do a web search on anything I got what I needed from yahoo but the page just stays blank on Google. I restarted my iphone with no luck. Has anybody else noticed this issue or is it a preferences setting? My second question is, can I get rid of things I don't want on my iphone interface like the weather or stocks programs (icons). Thanks for the help.
    -Mike

    Thanks for getting back to me. What I meant by my first question is, when I go into Safari and then select google in the bookmarks I can't get a result when I enter a key word in the search field on the Google page. I touch the search window and the keyboard pops up. I put in something I want to search for and nothing happens. Any ideas would be great.
    Thanks.

  • Dreamweaver Interface Icons are too small

    I have Dreamweaver CS3 for the Mac. I am using Mac OS X on a
    G4. The problem is that the selection and control icons in the
    various toolbars are so small, they are causing eyestrain. The same
    goes for the text on the tab headers and the Panel group.
    I don't see any way to increase the size of the icons and
    text, either in DW or from the Mac OS. Only the text size and style
    of the code view seems to have this variable. I don't see this
    topic discussed in any of the forums anywhere. Any help would be
    much appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply. I'll have to answer those questions
    when I get back home in front of my mac. But, I don't think that
    screen resolution is the issue. The size problem exists only with
    Dreamweaver CS3. I didn't have this problem with Dreamweaver MX.
    Also, it manifests itself only with a few features: The size of the
    icons in the toolbars and other controls, and the size of the text
    in the panel group to the right, and to a lessor extent to the text
    size in the tabs.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Still some confusion on Icons in Application Folder

    I installed Firefox & Thunderbird on my iMac. I like Firefox, but not T'Bird.
    In the application folder, I have 2 Icons for Firefox - one looks like a computer drive, and the other is the same circle as I have in my dock. I have only one Icon for T'Bird - that being the one that looks like a computer drive. I also have both of these drive-like Icons on my desktop.
    When I startup the computer, T'Bird is never on the dock. Firefox is. When I doubleclick on the drive-like Icon in the applications folder it opens a window under MacIntosh HD which if I then double click on, T'Bird opens. If I do the same with Firefox, firefox opens.
    Which of these Icons should be in the Appl folder/ On the desktop? Do I get rid of some/ All?
    Thanks.

    When you downloaded Firefox and T'Bird you got these guys that "look like a computer drive. They are 'Disk Images' and they are virtual computer drives. SO, double click on on, and there it is, under the Macintosh HD, just like a Drive.
    To install the software, drag it from the Disk Image to the Applications Folder. You've done this with Firefox, but haven't with T'Bird. Then eject the DIsk Images and trash them. Thn in your Applications folder you have theround icons for the apps themselves, and not the icons for the disk images.

  • How can i do to change the size of the interface, icons and tools? is it almost impossible to see / photoshop cc 2014

    i cant see well the tools and icons

    Thanks for the method. In case there are any other idiots out there like me, you need to read the line that tells you these setting changes will be enabled the next time you load photshop.
    As for the end result: It's much better, but I think the user should be able to modify the scale to suit there needs.

  • User Interfaces - Simplified, Extended, Wizard

    upgrade to SRM 5.0; R/3 4.6C; CCM 2.0
    Hi everyone,
    I have three questions regarding the UI templates that is in SRM.
    1. Last client I knew used the extended form (BBPSC01). I am very familiar with this template, functionality-wise.  In regards to the other two, I have only seen the wizard UI (BBPSC02).  One of the issues that we are trying to address is the repetitiveness of entering the cost assignment information for multiple line items.
    For the extended form, there is a functionality where you can copy the acct assignment, G/L, and IOs from the clipboard and apply it to all line items by pasting it (checking the box 'apply to all items before').
    For other two templates do you have this option?
    2.  For the wizard and simplified form, there is no copy line item function (to create a copy (as line item 2) of the line item 1).  Is this statement correct?
    3.  How difficult is it to change any of the templates?  For example if you were to add a field?  How would you go about doing this (brief explanation would be appreciated)?
    If anyone can share some pros and cons of using a particular template from a project experience standpoint, I would greatly appreciate it.
    -Benefits of using an extended form-
    1. buy on behalf
    2. copy line item functionality
    3. can specify default settings
    4. item over view (can work directly in it)
    5. create limit item
    -cons-
    1. lots of scrolling
    2. more confusing interface because there are many more mini panes/windows that can be opened
    3. more time to open/refresh data
    Thank you in advance,
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
    3 shopping variants (BBPSC01, BBPSC02, BBPSC03) are all using the same source objects and screens.
    They are just not displayed and controlled in the same way.
    For example, item overview is used everywhere, but you can not make direct entry in wizard mode.
    In each screen PBO, you can find some particular logic to control fields, against actual T-CODE (BBPSCXX).
    Regards

  • Image Icon in JMenuItem

    I am building a JMenu, using JMenuItem, I want to show a Icon "V" in JMenuItem, so the user can click on it to see more options, just like we get in windows 2000 , in your start menu. where it only shows the menus which we have recently accessed, and hide others.
    Is there any standard java class for it or i will have to download a image and create a Icon from it and use it in JMenuItem.
    I dont know if any of the Implementing Classes of Interface Icon can be used for it

    If u want a icon then there is a consturctor available which takes in a Icon.
    JMenuItem( String, Icon )
    but if u want just to underline V then u can set the accelerator using setAccelerator method.
    menuItem.setAccelerator( KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(
              KeyEvent.VK_F, Event.CTRL_MASK ) );
    here it is set for cntrl + F
    Hope this would help

  • Icons in the music section - Meaning??

    Hi,
    I am somewhat confused with icons suddenly appearing next to certain songs, etc in my listing (when I use iTunes)
    I've overhauled my filing on my computer, and now, it seems like many songs cannot play.
    When I select to play songs from my iPhone (when connected), some more different icons appear, and those songs cannot play either - but those songs play fine if I choose to play them when disconnected from my computer...
    What is going on??
    1- where is the list of those icons and their meaning?
    2- If I do another backup - will I lose part of songs I've uploaded from my CD collection in iTunes - or worse from my iPhone? (some songs were bought way before my iPhone, when I had my Palm)
    Can someone help?
    Thanks!

    Here's more info:
    When I am in my Library section:
         - when I play a song, there is speaker icon (all is fine with everything then);
         - sometimes I'll find an exclamation point in that very same column. It means (I guess) that it cannot find the song (or file)
    When I want to play music from my iPhone via iTunes (then the music will be heard from my computer's screen, and not from my iPhone's speaker):
         - in that same column where the speaker will appear if a song is played, I have many songs that have some kind of icon where 2 arrows circle around (a bit like the recycling logo, but instead of a triangle, it's a circle)
    I find very odd that I cannot find any info about these icons... The explanation is not in the iPhone manual, and where is the iTunes' manual??

  • How do I change menu and icon sizes in elements 12

    I have just installed elements 12 on my Lenovo Ultrabook which is running windows 8 - the icons and menus are so small I need a magnifying glass to read them.
    Thanks

    There's no option in PSE to change interface icon and menu sizes. You can change the Windows display font sizes (at least you can in W7), but that will affect all applications.

  • I have a high resolution display (3200x1800) and a 13" laptop, but my CC-applications have microscopic icons at the point of being useless.

    The text based menus are ok, and is the only option that can be configured to a larger size.
    But the icons in the CC applications are so tiny that they are practically useless.
    Even extended on a separate 24" LCD display the interface icons are too small.
    So, having searched a lot on the topic of high resolution displays, the OS will scale an application appropriately if it is designed correctly.
    I am running Windows 8.1, and i.e. the applications in the Office pack scale perfectly. Not so strange, perhaps, being MS.
    When will CC get this upgrade?
    Kind regards,
    Thomas

    Please take a look at: Photoshop CC / Windows 8.1 HiDPI / Retina scaling support at the moment Adobe works with Microsoft to work on scaling for HiDPI devices. See reaply from Chris Cox
    "Again, we're continuing to work with Microsoft on the scaling problems in Windows.
    We, and they, recognize that the existing attempts to offer scalable UI have serious issues.
    And no, we can't commit to a timeframe for a long list of reasons."
    So you need some patience as HiDPI is getting more and more popular i assume it will be anytime soon.

  • Nm-applet icons

    Hi,
    I'm using awesomewm and nm-applet. I remember some time ago, nm-applet was using some icons in the tray which were adapted to my theme's color, so I guess it must've been from the gnome icon theme's symbolic icons in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/status/network-*.png. Now it doesn't anymore, instead it uses its own icons that are being installed in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/22x22/apps/nm-*.png. I don't believe it's hardcoded into nm-applet because I see so many screenshots on the net where nm-applet uses these "gnome" icons. Does anyone know why that is and if I can rever to the old behavior?
    gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme
    also returns gnome.

    That's doesn't define all the status icons though.
    But thanks to your pointer, I could see that gnome-icon-theme does install a few softlinks:
    > ll /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/status/nm-*
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Jun 3 2014 nm-adhoc.png -> network-idle.png
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Jun 3 2014 nm-device-wired.png -> network-idle.png
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Jun 3 2014 nm-device-wireless.png -> network-idle.png
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Jun 3 2014 nm-no-connection.png -> network-offline.png
    though that's missing quite a few:

    So now I'm wondering how to make it use the symbolic icons in /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/status/network-*-symbolic.svg like it used to some time ago? Just creating links like this doesn't they don't get picked up:

  • Why has the dropdown list of search engines changed from a straightforward list to a field of indistinguishable icons?

    Until the most recent update the dropdown listing of available sites in the search box was easily legible and simple to use. Being able to target one's searches so readily and conveniently was one of Firefox's most attractive features.
    Now I'm confronted with a panel of mostly indecipherable and in many cases confusingly similar icons. I hate it and want my simple verbal listing back!
    Yes, mousing over the icons and hovering will reveal what they represent. But having to do this every time makes what was a quick, convenient routine irritatingly slow and clunky.
    Please at least let us choose whether to have icons or a simple listing. Please...

    Further to my initial query, I notice that the previous facility to click 'Manage Search Engines...', thus allowing you to rearrange or add to/subtract from available searches (all within the dropdown from the search box), has gone.
    Clicking 'Change Search Settings' now opens up a new tab in the main preferences panel -- and as far as I can see doesn't even allow reordering or permanent deletion of search items.
    Whoever thought this would be an improvement? It isn't!!!

  • [solved] Lost all icons after leaving XFCE

    ...dafuq?!
    Since switching from XFCE+XMonad-combo DE to pure XMonad lately, except very few and ugly kind of fallback icons all icons disappeared ("clarity-luteus" theme)!  I've been trying to set them via lxappearance and/or by editing ~/.gtkrc-2.0 and ~/.gtkrc-2.0.mine, respectively, but to no avail.
    Strange thing is, though the config files say:
    # DO NOT EDIT! This file will be overwritten by LXAppearance.
    # Any customization should be done in ~/.gtkrc-2.0.mine instead.
    include "~/.gtkrc-2.0.mine"
    gtk-theme-name="SolarizedDark"
    gtk-icon-theme-name="clarity-luteus"
    # ~/.gtkrc-2.0.mine
    gtk-icon-theme-name = "clarity-luteus"
    openening lxappearance, the selected icon theme always shows "Adwaita" (which is installed) -- as does dconf-editor in org/gnome/desktop/interface/icon theme, where it is not changable.
    I also tried such nasty things as
    $ sudo ln -s ~/.gtkrc-2.0 /root/.gtkrc-2.0
    or
    $ ln -s /usr/share/icons/clarity-luteus/ ~/.icons/gnome
    before fiddling again with or without lxappearance (what didn't make a difference, while getting "doubled" themes to choose from).  Simply, selecting in lxappearance (and hence writing a new ~/.gtkrc-2.0) takes effect, no icon theme at all works~
    Even restarting X, re-login, and reboot didn't help it.
    Ideas anybody?

    No.
    I also said, if apps have got their own small set of default icons (no matter being a file manager, an office program, a media player etc.) these show up.  However they're not themeable at all.
    Meanwhile I tried these attempts without any effect
    symlinked icon themes to ~/.icons
    added e.g. pixmap_path "/usr/share/icons/clarity-luteus" to ~/.gtkrc-2.0(.mine) (for lxappearance)
    also installed Tango icon theme for testing
    invoked
    $ gtk-update-icon-cache
    or
    $ sudo gtk-update-icon-cache --ignore-theme-index
    gtk-update-icon-cache: Failed to open file : Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
    respectively
    with (or without by commenting) included XFCE stuff into xmonad.hs, such as:
    import XMonad.Config.Xfce
    import XMonad.Config.Desktop
    main = do
    xmonad $ myUrgencyHook $ xfceConfig -- or: defaultConfig
    myStartupHook = do
    spawn "/usr/bin/xfce4-session" -- see ***
    , logHook = ... <+> logHook desktopConfig
    *** Xfce question ... icons not showing up (only starting an xfce4-session was just an idea)
    renamed my XFCE dotfiles to e.g. ~/.config/_xfce4. But the original folder will be recreated anyway.
    Obviously, neither XMonad, GTK, or thunar -- but XFCE is the culprit, it has overtaken skinning control (at least for the icons)! This is evident by starting XFCE4 (which triggers XMonad), when eveything works fine.  I wished, I never have installed XFCE! Before, changing the looks was merely a trivial task.
    Installing the xfce4 group is easy. Now as I'm trying to get rid of it, it's annoying.
