Connect an iPad to MySQL running on a NON SERVER Mac

Question

For 3 days I have been trying to connect my nice new ipad to a MySQL database I'm running on my iMac. I have done 4 TOTAL wipes of MySQL from my iMac using:
First you need to edit the file in: /etc/hostconfig and remove the line
Since this is a system file I advise you to open it with nano in terminal:
1. Open Terminal
2. sudo nano /etc/hostconfig
3. Enter your password if you’re not authed yet.
4. Delete the following line: “MYSQLCOM=-YES-”
5. CTRL+X (This is the command for closing NANO, Enter the “Y” key to save the file and exit nano).
Second step:
Make sure MySQL is not running.
Open Terminal and copy and paste and run the following commands:
sudo rm /usr/local/mysql
sudo rm -rf /var/db/receipts/com.mysql.mysql*
sudo rm -rf /usr/local/mysql*
sudo rm -rf /Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM
sudo rm -rf /Library/PreferencePanes/My*
sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/mysql*
sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/MySQL*
sudo rm /etc/my.cnf
After completing the above I have installed MySQL 5.5.8, set it up and have been able to get into it from Sequel Pro,CocoaMySQL and other SQL clients. I always wind up back at the same spot. Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock'
This is severely frustrating as one of the reason I got the iPad was to do development for tethered apps using databases. But all I get are gobbledygook answers which assume that I am a high profile MySQL developer.
Can anyone point me at some docs that might actually be USEFUL in solving this issue.

There is not much documentation on this.
The iPad User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1595/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf) states, that the photos you imported from a camera to your iPad can be imported from the iPad by connecting it via USB to your computer. iPhoto or Adobe Elements can import them.
Does it include the contents of "All Imported" that shows up under Albums on the iPad, and contains 1046 photos?
So yes, the "All imported " events will be included.
But I can see some pics in iPhoto, in the iPad device window, that do not seem to be in the Camera Roll or All Imported on the iPad itself.
Have you photos hidden on your iPad (in iPhoto)?
