Hi All,
I am using Oracle SES 11g to create a "Table Source" and a have following question.
I have to added new table source to crawl, in the field "Database Host Name" i want to connect with Oracle Rac Database Server with two node.
I am searching in the document and i can't find any relevant on that scenario.
Can anyone help me in that ?
Thank you.

    Hi all,
    i'm experiencing a problem configuring centralized AAA on Oracle OID for Oracle RAC Database.
    My environment is:
    1) Oracle OID 10g (192.168.15.245 - rh4oidserver.klab.it)
    2) Oracle RAC database 11g
    I successfull configured a standalone Oracle Database to authenticate user in OID centralized repository, but i'm experiencing different problem to do, with RAC, same things.
    In dept:
    1) Oracle RAC works correctly and internal user (SYS,Oracle, ecc.) are correctly authenticated and authorizated against database
    2) Oracle RAC register himself in OID (see attached snapshoot)
    3) I run sqlplus to connect on Oracle RAC using OID users and i get following error: ORA-28030 Server encountered problems accessing LDAP directory service
    Using a sniffer, i can see a reset message after SSL handshake (SSL v3 encrypted alert), but i don't undenstand root cause....
    Host file on RAC server is:

    RAC propogates commit messages using a method which piggy-backs on the next available inter-instance message. I think it's called the Lampart Method, but anyways .... it means you have an uncontrollable delay between committed data in your two instances.
    Look at the init.ora parameter max_commit_propagation_delay, and consider setting it to 0. The parameter is briefly described in the Oracle Reference Guide.

  • RMAN backup in ORACLE RAC database

    Hi there,
    We are using RMAN backup strategy for taking backups from one node(eg.node1).Database is RAC database, version 9.2.3. and OS is Solaris 5.10.
    this is the configuration which we use, as follows:
    Connecting to Prod.Database using catalog database.
    rman catalog=rman/rman@CATDB target=sys/oracle@PRODDB(node 2).
    RMAN> show all;
    RMAN configuration parameters are:
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 30;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON;
    CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '/rmanback/_%F';
    CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 5;
    CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '/rmanback/CMWPROD_%s.bak';
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL 2 DEVICE TYPE DISK CONNECT 'SYS/oracle@PRODDB(node2)';
    CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO 7 G;
    CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO '/oracle/9.2.3/dbs/snapcf_CMWPROD1.f';
    As the above config shows RMAN is connecting to PROD DB (node 2). But we need to take backups (datafiles and as well as archive logs) from two nodes (i.e from node 1 and as well as node 2).
    Is there any possibility for taking backups from two nodes?

  • Installing EM12c: Installer can't find database host name....?

    Hello all,
    I'm trying to install EM12c. I'm near the last steps, alll requirements passed.
    I have a fresh install of 11.2.0.3 database on a second host, listening for connections.
    But the EM12c installer keeps error'ing out saying it cannot find the host name for the database server.
    I can ping that same server name (I've quadruple checked to make sure it is right)....I've cut from the installer and pasted into a ssh session both as root and oracle user on the target GRID/EM install server...it pings just fine.
    ON the database server, I've done tnsping..and it shows listener is up, I've entered valid ports and host name.
    ON the target EM server, I've even entered in the /etc/hosts file...the IP and server name....still to no avail.
    Any suggestions out there on what else to check? I have downloaded and using the latest EM12c install media...I downloaded it about 2x weeks ago...so, should be latest patched version.
    Thanks in advance,
    cayenne
    ps. Sorry...both EM and database server are on RHEL5 These are VMWare VMs....

  • Help required of creating Oracle RAC database having multiple instances

    Hello Guys!
    I want to create one database having 2 instances on Oracle 11g R1
    I have 2 nodes in this Oracle RAC
    Database name will be Val
    and instance name on node 1 will be val1 and instance name on node 2 will be val2
    Raw storage will be used, that is, without using automatic storage management or an Oracle Cluster File System
    Can anyone help how to do that ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Wonderful example thanks for the link.You're welcome :)
    I'm little confused which option to choose in shared storage option of DBCA
    i.e. Cluster File System or Raw devices?I suggest you to use ASM for you database storage requirement and select raw devices. oracle recommends to use ASM storage for sahred database.

    I believe that starting with 9.2, you have to specify different passwords when you install (can't be the default).

  • Database Table Resource via Oracle RAC connection Manager

    Hello,
    Our current IDM 8.1 syncs off a HR Database Table using the Database Table connector.
    Our DBA's are moving the view into an Oracle RAC environment.
    Question: Is there a way for us to connect and sync off our DB table through an Oracle RAC connection manager.
    I understand that for the IDM repository, this is possible.
    jdbc:oracle:thin@(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (LOAD_BALANCE = ON)
    (FAILOVER = ON)
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server1.ser.com)(PORT = 1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = server2.ser.com)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = db.com)
    servers server1 and server2 are oracle connection managers
    Thank you for your input,
    -RC

    We moved the repository to Oracle RAC recently. The syntax to switch to the new databasecluster was something like this:
    lh setRepo -tOracle -ujdbc:oracle:thin:@//dbcluster1.domain:1521/service_idm.oradb.domain -Uwaveset -Pwachtwoord
    For the 'lh setRepo' command the old database had to be up, and we had to use the old ojdb5.jar. After that we switched to ojdb6.jar.
    One of our resources is a database table with HR data in the same database. The following Database Access Parameters work for us:
    Database Type:      Oracle
    JDBC Driver:      oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    JDBC URL Template:      jdbc:oracle:thin:@//%h:%p/%d
    Host :     dbcluster1.domain
    Database: service_idm.oradb.domain
    Port: 1521

    Kindly advise.Yes, you definately needed to mention that. That suggests you also have 3 $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directories, each with its own tnsnames.ora file. So you need to make sure you are hitting the correct one. I'd pick one to be the controlling one and set the TNS_ADMIN enviornment variable to point to it.

    Is there any possibility for taking backups from two nodes?
    Thanks,
    Balu.

    You will need to setup an NFS share such that both nodes can access each other's archived redo logs area. You also need to ensure your LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameter settings are properly set. Once setup correctly, either node will be able to run the backup and include each other's archived redo log files. Since this is RAC, the data files are shared by design and either node can already backup these files.
    Multiple channels would allow 'simultaneous' backup of the archived redo logs.
    I would highly recommend using a CFS (single shared file system where all nodes store their archived redo logs distinguished by thread) to store the archived redo logs, this reduces administration and configuration especially when you get ready to scale.
    Hope this helps.

  • Change of database host name

    Hi,
    Recently we moved our database servers from IBM to exadata. This caused change in the host name of database. For this we reconfigured all the EPM (11.1.2.2) applications with new host name (with option to reuse existing tables). While reconfiguring we created new instance and new domain and configured everything in new domain, keeping old instance and domain untouched. However now when we log into HFM we are not able to see any applications nor any data.
    Please suggest what to do?
    Thanks in advance.

    The process for rehosting a database is outlined at :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/epm_deployment_options/ch04s03s02.html
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/epm_deployment_options/ch04s03s03.html
    There is no need to create a new epm instance and weblogic domain

  • Connect from MS ODBC to Oracle RAC

    I always connected to our Oracle 9i database using MS ODBC in Excel 2007and Access 2007.
    We recently migrated to Oracle 11g RAC which has two nodes. Have no problem connecting using Oracle RAC string with SQL Developer and SQL Plus to the the Oracle RAC.
    For the client ODBC I cant seem to connect using the RAC String. The MS ODBC Excel and Access prompt for username, password and host. In the host I put in the entire RAC String and it never connects showing TNS issues.
    Please advise.

    You can provide any one instance name instead of the RAC string name so it can establish the connection.
    Example: Username/password@RACInstance1
    or
    username/password@RACInstance2

  • Reporting Services connections are getting dropped by Oracle RAC

    My current customer is using Oracle RAC (11g) for their data store. They currently are using SQL Server Reporting Services to connect to it. We are experiencing an issue where the connection appears to be redirected at the server which causes the connection to be lost with the client.
    I am curious if this is "by design" or if we need to review some configuration settings to better handle this.
    We have 3 VIPs fronting the RAC and they are all specified in the TNSNAMES.ORA file.
    Any feedback or input on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I suggest you look at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/clustering/overview/awm11gr2-130711.pdf
    and the similar paper from 11.1:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/clustering/overview/awmrac11g-133673.pdf
    This explains the basic concept, of how clients should connect to the database, and probably clarifies your issue.
    In generall Oracle will not redirect during runtime, only during connection time.
    This however should not be of an issue, if you connect to a service. (You shouldn't connect to a SID since 8.1.7 anymore).
    Regards
    Sebastian
