Connect from JDeveloper 11g TP4 to Weblogic 10.3

Hi,
Did anybody manage to connect to Weblogic 10.3 from JDeveloper 11.1 TP4 ?
I looks different from the tutorial provided by Shay Shmeltzer on how to connect JDev 10g to Weblogic. With 11.1 TP4, I create the an Application server connection, I've put the path to the weblogic.jar in the field named "Path to Weblogic containing Weblogic Client" but when I test the connection, I get "Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory" which suggest the jar is not loaded. I run JDev on Linux, I've copied the file in "JDEV_HOME/jdev/lib/ext (I've created the directory)", "JDEV_HOME/jdev/extensions" and "JDEV_HOME/jdev/lib" and bounce Jdev. Same error.
The online doc doesn't say more that what I've guess. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Can anybody help me, it may be obvious because nobody seems to have asked that question in this forum.
Thank you very much for your help. Best Regards
Gregory

Gregory,
an EAR file deployment will always work ;-) However, then you don't have the ADF libraries installed on WebLogic 10.3 wich will cause the next problem. So unless you deploy the whole ADF libraries with your application (appr. 70 MB) you need to enable the WLS 10.3 instance for ADF running the ADF installer from the production version. This adf installer is part of the JDeveloper / WLS installer that you can obtain from otn.oracle.com/products/jdev
At the end of the day the TP4 turns out to be what it is: a technology preview that gets you started but not more

  • SQL Server connectivity from Jdeveloper 11g

I wanted to connect SQL SERVER from Jdeveloper 11g.
I am selecting Connection type as generic JDBC
I believe Driver class should be weblogic.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver but i am not able to find the same from Jdev.
Please help me to resolve this.
    Thanks,

Possibly new to English too. <g>
The name of this forum is "Database - General." It is not the place to post questions about JDeveloper. Please repost in the correct forum. Well that and get yourself a real database. <g>

It means that you are testing the service from behind the proxy. Try adding the hostname, 127.0.0.1, localhost etc to the exception list and see if it helps.

  • Unable to Connect to Oracle 10gR1 database from JDeveloper 11g using OCI

We are migrating our application from OC4J to Weblogic server. As a part, I am trying to create a database connection in JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.3.0 - Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660) to Oracle 10gR1 database. Previously I had Oracle 10g Client installed in the machine. Created a database connection using OCI driver and when I try to test connect, I got "Test Failed: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path". I searched through Metalink and forums and one suggestion was to install Oracle 11g Client on the machine where Jdeveloper 11g is installed. I installed 11g R1 client and tried the same test connection using OCI driver. Now I am getting "Test failed: ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified" error.
The same database connection works good with Thin driver with both Oracle 10g client and 11gR1 client.
Previously I had Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2 and Oracle 10g Client and I was able to connect to database without any errors.
Could you provide me the steps for this or if I missed any steps?
    Steps to Replicate:
For the error: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path
    1) Install JDeveloper 11g (With embedded Weblogic Server)
    2) Install Oracle 10g Client on the same machine
    3) Create a database connection in the "Application Resources --> Connection"
    4) Use OCI driver. Enter the host details about the Oracle 10g R1 database
    5) Test connect to the database.
ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
    1) Install JDeveloper 11g (With embedded Weblogic Server)
    2) Install Oracle 11gR1 Client on the same machine
    3) Create a database connection in the "Application Resources --> Connection"
    4) Use OCI driver. Enter the host details about the Oracle 10g R1 database
    5) Test connect to the database.
Note: Tried the same scenarios with Oracle 11gR2 client as well. It was not working at all.
Any ideas and pointers would be great.

    1. will my problem get solved after i install oracle 11g client on my machine.Yes, your problem should get solved. The version of the Oracle 11g Client must match the version of the JDev's JDBC drivers. Alternatively you may install an Oracle 11g Client and replace JDev's Oracle JDBC drivers with these from the installed client. Please, read carefully my 1st posting above in this thread.
    2. can i patch JDeveloper 11g on my machine to work with 10g client, or can i do the same with 10g client. You might succeed if you replace JDev's built-in JDBC drivers (which are 11g versions) with 10g versions, but I do not recommend you to try that because JDeveloper 11g and ADF 11g may be using some 11g features that do not exist in 10g drivers, so you may have problems.
I also have PLSql developer installed on my machine and it works well.PL/SQL Developer does not use JDBC drivers, so it is not an relevant example in this case.
My generall recommendation is to use Oracle JDBC Thin drivers. Oracle claimed that OCI drivers had better performance, but this was really true about earlier releases. Current Oracle 11g JDBC Thin drivers offer excellent performance and they offer all the features of the OCI versions (which was not true about earlier releases). In my opinion, the most important disadvantage of Oracle JDBC OCI drivers is that most versions have native memory leaks so all the RAM would get consumed after long application execution. The fact that WebLogic Server does not offer Oracle JDBC OCI drivers by default anymore says that Oracle discourages the usage of the OCI driver in favour of Thin driver.

  • Can't make a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0) to WebLogic 8.1

    I can't make a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0.0) to WebLogic 8.1
When I click "Test connection" JDeveloper 10g writes the following:
    Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory
Have somebody ever established a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0) to WebLogic 8.1? How to do this?

It connects successfully now. Thank you for the information.
But it does nothing when I try to deploy my J2EE application.
I right-click on Resources -> application.deploy, choose "Deploy to" -> my connection. It starts to do something obscure.
Then I go to the WebLogic console and it shows that there is no my application.

[Application APP_TesteWLS stopped and undeployed from Server Instance DefaultServer]
i read the Oracle JDeveloper 11g Installation Guide and in "11 Using WebLogic Server with Oracle JDeveloper"
"Installing Oracle JDeveloper Studio 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) also automatically installs Oracle WebLogic Server 10g Release 3 (10.3). Oracle JDeveloper uses this preconfigured installation as the Integrated WLS, a Oracle JDeveloper-managed server for testing and debugging your applications from within the IDE. *After installing Oracle JDeveloper, everything you need to begin developing, testing and debugging web applications is installed and configured for you; no additional configuration steps are necessary for development purposes.*"
    my environment is:
    OS -> fedora 10
    Ram -> 4gb
    i need help .... thanks ...

  • IIOP connection from JDeveloper does not work

I'm trying to run some sample EJB programs but cannot connect to the IIOP port from JDeveloper. I have installed Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise on my machine, and it includes a listening location for IIOP on port 2481 under the listener. I can connect to JServer on this database from DBA Studio using various user/passwords, so the IIOP connection seems to work in principle.
But when I try to set up an IIOP connection from JDeveloper (v.3.1.1.2), the "Test" button fails to connect, but does not give any details on the reason for the error.
I have tried using the command line utility sess_sh, but this fails telling me the URL is invalid, even though it is exactly the same as the URL I connected to in DBA Studio.
Why can I connect from DBA Studio but not from JDeveloper, and can anyone tell me how to get this connection to work?
(It shouldn't be this hard to get a simple "Hello world" EJB to work!)
    Thanks,
    Chris

You must use Jdev 3.2.x to communicate with RDBMS 8.1.7.
Jdev 3.1.x.x is for RDBMS 8.1.6.

  • How to connect from Oracle 11g to SQL Server 2008 R2

    Hi,
Is it possible to connect from Oracle 11g on AIX to SQL Server 2008 R2? If so, what is the preferred method?
SQL Server has the original table. From Oracle 11g, we want to access data which is in SQL Server real time.
    Thank You
    Sarayu

    Hi,
Have a look at these Oracle notes for the full information on the gateways -
Master Note for Oracle Gateway Products (Doc ID 1083703.1)
Functional Differences Between DG4ODBC and Specific Database Gateways (Doc ID 252364.1)
Gateway and Generic Connectivity Licensing Considerations (Doc ID 232482.1)
How to Setup DG4MSQL (Oracle Database Gateway for MS SQL Server) 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX,HP-UX) (Doc ID 562509.1)
How to Configure DG4ODBC on 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX Itanium) to Connect to Non-Oracle Databases Post Install (Doc ID 561033.1)
The Database Gateway for SQL*Server (DG4MSQL) needs a separate license but the Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC) is included in your RDBMS license. You only need to provide the third party ODBC driver needed by DG4ODBC.

    Yes.
    Like pointed out by Theo,
    the exception is : "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: 111100\jdeveloper\."
Its trying to look in the folder "111100" which does not exist (due to space instead of ....\JDeveloper 111100\.... , it starts right from \111100)
I guess you will have ro re-install the JDev

    Anton,
As is documented in the release notes and in numerous posts on the 11g forum (perhaps you meant to search there), this is not supported.

  • Jdeveloper 11g TP4: Connection refused error for Embedded Oc4j

    Hi,
I am getting following error whenever trying to deploy any application in embedded oc4j or whenever try to connect with embedded server on Resource palette.
Error while getting remote MBeanServer for url: ormi://127.0.0.1:23891/default:
Error reading application-client descriptor: Error communicating with server: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
javax.naming.CommunicationException: Connection refused: connect [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException
I am using Jdeveloper 11g TP 4 on windows XP.
I have checked other links too related to above error and have checked following:
Proper host name entry in host file
No spaces in Jdveleoper installed directory name
Proxy setting in Jdeveloper: excluded localhost and ip address
Will be very thankful if anyone can help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance

Don't spend to much time on this. JDev 11g is production and there will be no OC4J 11g!
