  • Connecting a Sony DVD player to Sony STR-DH750 AV Receiver with RCA cables

I have connected a Sony DVD player with RCA cables to  Sony STR-DH750 AV Receiver at the VIDEO inputs. I get audio, but no video. How do I connect the DVD player to the AV receiver to get both audio and video?

    Hi JB4,
Are you using HDMI cable in addition to your RCA connection? This HDMI cable is from the receiver going to the TV using the HDMI OUT port. Another option, you are using the RCA yellow + red&white right? you may connect the yellow cable directly to your TV if it has yellow port for video.
    Thanks.

  • Itrigue 5.1 5600 & Sony DVD Player Advice

    Can anybody help.
I really love the look of the Creative Itrigue 5600 5.1 Speaker Kit and was hoping to install in my living room as a home cinema solution.
Will it connect to my Sony DVD Player through its single digital connection ?
Are the speakers any good in this type of setup ?
Can I extend the cable length if necessary ?
Do I need any additional bits ie decoder or does everything i need come in the box ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Karl.

    Karl,
This DVD player only have digital output and stereo analog line out. There's a few option available for you. If you are bend on getting the I-Trigue 5600, you can either get the decoder that I have mention earlier to help decoder the signal from the DVD player to the speaker or you can connect the speaker to the stereo line out RCA jack from the DVD player Line out section. After which, use the CMSS upmix feature that's inbuilt in the speaker system to upmix the stereo sound to a virtual 5.1 surround effect. This of course isn't true 5.1 channel from the DVD sources.
Another option would be to get a digital speaker system like the Inspire GD580 that have the ability to decode DTS and Dolby without additional set of decoder box.

  • DVD's not working on Sony dvd player

I just bought some TDK DVD-R 16x. I burned a DVD with my iMac G4 in iDVD. I tried to play it in my Sony DVD player and it said it was was not allowed because there were limitations or something. Can I fix this or do I need new DVDs??

Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the
    DVD. File/Save as Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may
encounter. Once the disc image is created,
double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that
should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn
the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually,
you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which
    OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in
Applications folder), click on the virtual disc
(maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the
Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your
SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn
icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R
preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait.
Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor
over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to
work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower
for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to
click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This
may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk
to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD.
Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD
Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and
open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio
    disks.)

I'm reading through the forums trying to figure why I am not able to play a DVD burned in iDVD that is "R", but the "RW" ones work fine.
Your post is very helpful and I've looked at the links suggested too. I just want to make sure I'm understanding. I've copied the movie to my hard drive using iMovie and then created an iDVD project. I then need to use either Disk Utility or Toast to make the DVD. I do not need to use the "burn" feature in iDVD. Is that correct?
I would appreciate any other suggestions. Maybe there is something else in the settings or preferences I need to adjust.
    Thanks so much.

  • Burning DVD in Lion Problems. Keep getting REGION ERRORS in SONY DVD PLAYER @ playback. Settings correct. Leopard burns fine with all media. Lion does not with TOAST. DVDSTYLER burns a readable disk.

I have tried several types of media in a brand new (less than 2 months old) 27" iMac running the latest version of Lion. It will not burn a standalone DVD player readable disk. I am in North America and buring in NTSC format. Settings are set properly. Buring at BEST speed - states its burning at 3x. I have tested SONY printable DVD's +R and Verbatim non printable -R disks in Lion with Roxio Toast 8 & 10. No luck. DVDSTYLER burns a readable disk, but not realy happy about the look and functionality.
I am getting REGION LIMITATION errors in the SONY and other stand alone DVD Players.
Disk plays in XBox 360 and laptop PC also.
I am set to region 1.
AS I stated, DVDSTYLER does burn a readable disk, the problem seems to be with TOAST and LION ?
My old 21" iMac running Leopard 10.5.8 has no problems with burning. Any media, Toast 8, disks perform just fine.
    Any suggestions ?
My only solution is to do the editing of movies I need to do on the 27" and transfer them to the 21" for burning.
    lame
Or use the sub par DVDSTYLER program.
    acceptable but disappointing.
    ideas ?

SONY DVD player is brand spankin new.
    Have not tried Imation disks.
Its just puzzling that Leopard and Toast 8 produces a DVD where as Lion and Toast 8 produces a coaster.
I tried not printiable Verbatims. Same result.
Need printables for the projects that I do.
    Appreciate the suggetsions.
Will be methodically dilligent and post any results here.
any help from any others would be appreciated.

  • How do I record music from Itunes to a dvd to play on a Sony DVD player dvp sr500h?

How do I record music from Itunes to a dvd, that shows it is finishing but will not play on my hardrive or on a Sony DVD player, dvp sr500H?

If you are burning a DVD directly from iTunes (a feature which is present in older versions of iTunes but which was removed in iTunes 10.4), that creates a computer-type DVD for backup only and cannot play in any DVD player I know of. If you want to create a disk that can play in a DVD player, you'll need to burn an audio CD, an MP3 CD if the player will accept MP3 CDs, or use some other software.
    Regards.

  • Connect sony dvd player to internet

I want to connect my sony blue ray dvd player to the internet but my router is in another room far away. I tried to connect the device directly to my verizon set top box and was unsuccessful. Do I have to buy another router and a splitter for each room that has a dvd player that I want to connect to the internet?  Does anyone have a solution?

unfortunately the ethernet port is not operational, so unless the player is wireless, then you will have to hardwire it.
    Two solutions.
    1.  the router can be moved to any room that has a working fios cable box. You will need a 5-1000mhz two way splitter, and then you take the cable out of the wall, put that splitter at the end of it, then one cable goes to the cable box, and the other to the router, and then it is now close enough for you to hardwire your player.
    2. you can buy an inexpensive used actiontec off of ebay, and then use this configuration and it helps to extend your FiOS network to rooms that are too far for ethernet cables to reach.
Can I get an ethernet connection in a room with only coax?

  • Wow.. INSANITY..  Sony DVD player crashes!

Well.. I am a little discouraged here.. I got my project all perfect, and it plays great on my computer DVD player as well as in the simulator.
I play it on my Sony commerical DVD player, and if I stop the DVD during any one of the menus, upon playing/resuming it jumps to a video track which is not used!! and then immediately crashes.
This unused video track is actually split into two stories, and used for menu transitions. It makes no sense that resuming the disc should have anything to do with menu transitions-- Yet if it were, it's not even playing the stories-- It's playing the full track, and the DVD player stops immediately......
I tested this on my computer DVD player, and this behavior does not occur.
Has anyone else had anything like this happen? I have many sub menus which are not connected to these stories, and I tested playing those menus, and sure enough.. by stopping and playing it plays that one track and then dies!
It makes no sense, and I am a total loss as for what to do to................
If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.
    -patrick

If there is no resume information stored in Player's registers, then the player will resume into playing the first track in the physical order on the disc. This track will play in full, and if there is no end jump defined, the player will crash.
You can either change end jump for this "unused track" or change a disc layout in "by VTS" tab. One of the tricks of SPEC authoring is to put a short black video in VMG area that jumps to the menu, so there is always something for the player to resume to. Since DVD SP will not let you access VMG, you can simply make this short black video as your first play, that jumps into the main menu of your disc.

  • How to connect apple tv to older tv's through dvd player?

Is there a way to connect the apple tv to an older tv through a dvd player or just to the tv?
    thx

No, you have to connect it to the TV. If you don't have an HDTV you would need to find a converter and HDMI is the only thing officially supported on the current model so there's no guarantee it'll work. Some have had success, others haven't

  • CD/DVD R discs won't play in Sony DVD player system.

I have just backed up my music and photos on CD R and DVD R discs on my new Macbook Pro. None will play on my Sony player. I previously purchased CD RW from Verbatim recorded on my Powerbook G4 and they play fine. I know there is technology change here, but what should I buy? For instance, can I still purchase discs that would play in my 4 year old dvd player or is that a waste of time? Do I need a new player?

I'd suspect the player since it is 4 years old and especially since it is a Sony who was slow to embrass that technology in the DVD players.
Before I bought my DVD player to play MP3 , I made a MP3 CDR took it to a store and played the disc in all the different models. Sony were the worst at the time. Heck within the same model one would play the disc and the other not.

  • Is is possible to use a netgear wireless router to share a cable internet connection between an airport express and a Sony BD player?

    Hi,
I have a couple of netgear wireless routers (WGR614, WPN824 v3) as well as a Belkin wireless router (F5D8233-4v3) lying around, and was wondering if it is possible to use any of these to share the internet feed from a cable modem to both an airport express and a Sony Blu-Ray Player?  I connected the WPN824 router between the cable modem and the airport express but the airport express will only give an orange light then as if it does not have internet access.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Many thanks.

What you are basically attempting to do is extend the Belkin router with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) via a wireless connection between them. This method is known as a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). Unfortunately, WDS is not a standard and router manufacturers implemented, in most part, to only work with their products ... so it will be very unlikely that you can create a WDS between your Belkin and the AX. There have been a few Belkin model that have been updated by third-party firmware that support WDS, but the models you listed are not any of them.

  • Connect a DVD player through SPDIF? (Audigy 2

    Hi
I have a SB Audigy 2 ZS and a Cambridge Soundworks 550 set. I often watch DVD movies using the PC DVD-dri've, but since it's impossible to get widescreen TV output from nVidia cards, I've been thinking about getting an external DVD player. The ones I've been looking at only have digital output for sound, so I'm wondering if there's any way to connect it to the sound card and get 5. sound (speakers doesn't have digital inputs)?

I've a Audigy2zs and i use the internal connection on the card with the name "CD-Digital" it's a sp/dif input on the card.
Perhaps you can make (just like i did) some nice cables to a 5inch baycover front(that's on the computercase)
connect a rca panelconnector to a sp/dif computercable(disconnect on one side the 2 pole sp/dif compu connector and solder the rca connector to it.(beware of + & - are right, the center of rca=+ the outside=-). Mount the rca panelconnector to the 5inch baypanel of your computercase. Insert the original side of the sp/dif computer cable in the CD-Digital in of the internal connector on the card. And you're done. Then you've a sp/dif input on your pc.
Connect the sp/dif audio out of the dvd-player(hifi external) with a rca coax wire to the yourself build sp/dif in rca panelconnector on the plastic 5inch baycover that you've made.
Then in the surroundmixer use the CD-Digital slider.
You can check/control the sp/dif signal in AudioHQ>Device Controls>Bit accurate mode Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 02-03-2005 08:42 PM
technically sp/dif = highquality stereo but let the hifi dvd-player send dolby signals to the sp/dif and just see what the Audigy2zs encodes/found on it's CD-Digital...(i've a Philips DCC730 with sp/dif connected this way works perfect 8bit/48KHz but stereo (it's the digitalcassettedeck that sends stereo, instead of more(dolby)channels)Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 02-03-2005 08:46 PM

The notebook only has HDMI out, which means that you would not be able to use your DVD player to output video to the notebook.

  • Unable to Connect T7900 To DVD Player

i had bought philips DVP 550 DVD Player which supports 7.1 channel system and i had also bought a Creative T7900. But i m not able to connect the T7900's Stereophonic Pins to the DVD Player, as there are 8 Audio RCA pins to the DVD Player as (Front left&Right, Surround left& right, centre, subwoofer, rear left&right), i m having a problem to connect the streophonic to the RCA pins so please give me a suggestion about this. Manish

You just need to follow Jason-CL's thread for 5.1 and use an extra 3.5mm jack to rca lead for the rear surround.
