Connect to DBASE files via ODBC

Dear Sirs,
I want to connect to DBASE files and make some changes. Is it possible for me to connect via statements written in PL/SQL with Procedure Builder ? If it's possible, then how ?
Could anybody help ?
Thank you very much for the kind attention.

  • Error when connecting to SQL*PLUS via ODBC to Excel

ORA-03121: no interface driver connected - function not performed

SQL Server objects are commonly case sensitive, so please surround the column and table names by double quotes:
    SELECT "Type_PK_ID" FROM "dbo"."boundaries"@sqlserver
SIDE NOTE: Oracle is by default not case sensitive and all object names are stored in upper case. To get case sensitive objects they need to be surrounded by double quotes. In HSODBC case sensitive table names were commonly found even when not surrounded by double quotes as the gateway used internal SQL Server methods to find the correct table nameing - this method does not work for column names. So to be able to query a case sensitive column it needs to be surrounded by double quotes and the table name must be written as stored in the source database.

  • Oracle Cloud connections by other databases via ODBC/JDBC/XML

If we move to the Oracle Cloud, will these tables be available from other SQL clients via ODBC/JDBC/XML? It obviously works fine with an internally hosted Oracle solution, but I didn't know if moving the Oracle Cloud would remove these features. Thanks.

You need a service to auto start/stop instances. Pls See

  • Can't connect to share files via ethernet

I think I followed all the instructions, but I'm not able to connect two G4s running OS X (one is Panther, the other Tiger, if that makes any difference)
I need file sharing for my work, as transferring via an external drive takes too long.
I go to the Go menu and click on Connect to Server and then enter the Computer Name in the field. I then get a box prompting me to enter my password. Every time I try, it says invalid or log in failed. I know the passwords, and I can view it in the keychain access in Utilites. I'm administrator for both computers.
I am afraid of messing around with settings beyond allowing AppleTalk and permitting File Sharing in System Preferences. One of the computers has Airport, the other hasn't (it makes no difference if turned on or off) The pane listing the either computer's name is the one I select - but there's also some sort of afp// listing on one, and something saying other computers on your local subnet(?) can reach your computer at afp - keith (etc). I also seem to see options for more configuration, such as numeric addresses. Server Name? IP address? -It's Greek to me. I'm confused!
Please, Please Please ! I REALLY NEED THE SIMPLEST POSSIBLE EXPLANATION. I've reached the limits of my capability to figure it out via either the Mac Help, or Support on the Apple website k base articles. I remember this working once - not with these two computers, but it did work - so I imagine something needs resetting or....???
    Many, many thanks for help.
wish I could award you 2 or three stars - or a constellation, for gods sake

    Great news Keith, thanks!
Yes, you came up with the right solution, but how on earth??
It might not seem intuitive at first glance, but what you're trying to do is gain access on the other Mac... Who has access to the other Mac? The other Mac's user!
Also, it wouldn't do to have it so just anybody that doesn't have an account be able to access the files on it.
Isn't it an assumption that you would use the password for the one you were on, rather than the one you are trying to access?
If the other Mac A had an account on it for both Mac A's user & Mac B's user, then both/either could log in, or you could log in as a Guest, but then only have limited access to the Shared folder.
I also thought the problem might have been needing an Ethernet crossover cable as opposed to an Ethernet cable used for a DSL connection - apparently there's a difference, and some earlier Macs don't support the latter.
Only one Mac needs to be new enough to not require a Crossover cable, it'll automatically switch a regular Cable to as though it were Crossover.

  • How to connect to dbf file using odbc

I build a DSN 'dbf' of ms dbase driver(*.DBF)
    version 5.0
    but when I type
    'conn a/a@odbc:dbf'
    errors showed like that
    'ORA-03121:...'
    what's the matter?
    thanks in advance

Does it work if you go to Project Properties and force 32-bit or 64-bit modes? (For example, uncheck the ‘Prefer 32-bit’ option, then select ‘x86’ in Platform Target for Debug and Release configurations. Then try the ‘x64’ Platform Target
    too).

  • CR2011, BO 4.0, connection to SQL server via ODBC

    Hi,
when developing reports locally using Crystal Reports 2011 I dont' have problems connecting to our MS SQL Server using ODBC. However, as soon as the report is exported to our BO Edge 4.0 SP2 server I get this error message when viewing the report in Launchpad (or CMC) and refreshing it:
"The viewer could not process an event. Failed to open the connection. CRWEB00000119"
In CMC I then entered the credentials for this report but I still get the error message.
So I created a new ODBC connection on the BO server pointing to the SQL server - but I can't specify this ODBC connection in CMC.
    Any hints?
    Thanks!

BOE 4.0 is 64 bit but some parts connect through 32 bit DB clients. So it would need both the 32 and 64 bit SQL Server 2000 client's installed. Not sure if MS had a 64 bit client for 2000 so likely the problem.
CR 2011 is a 32 bit app so that explains why it works on your PC.
I would or suggest you post to the BOE Admin forum but because it's SQL 2000 I doubt they'll be able to help.
All I can suggest it to upgrade SQL Server to SQL 2005 or 2008, 2008 has a bunch of new security settings/configurations so it takes a little more time to configure and grant rights to DB's but it will work. Also required is the use of and set location to the SQL Native Client 10 Client Tools to be installed and update all of your reports to use it also.

  • MARS connection to SQL Server in JAVA via ODBC

    Hello.
    I've got this problem.
I'm managing an application JAVA/JSP, based on a 3-tier architecture.
The connection to the database is performed via JDBC/ODBC, in order to work with different DRMS.
Everything is ok when connecting to Oracle or MySql via JDBC, but when we connect to SQL Server via ODBC we get this error: "ODBC SQL SERVER - Connection is busy with result for another stmt".
That's why the application executes more than one SQL statement, opening a ResultSet object, under the same connection.
This is the way the application is performing, and we can't change it.
I've read that on SQL Server 2005 is available a new connection parameter called MARS (Multiple Active Result Sets), that should resolve this problem.
But I was not able to find any way to invoke this type of connection in JAVA for an ODBC connection! (I've found only tips for .NET...).
Many thanks if somebody can suggest me how to resolve this problem.
    It's urgent!

Use JDBC. Get a SQL server JDBC driver. Unfortunately I don't know of any free ones, but one I have used in the past is from http://www.jnetdirect.com/
Maybe you can search in the JDBC forum for the answer - Its a common enough question I know.

  • Unable to connect to SQL database through ODBC calls

I have been looking around for an answer to this, but haven't found the exact issue I'm seeing.
I have several Excel spreadsheets which have been working until recently, which use an ODBC call to a remote SQL database. The database is running, remote connections are allowed. The SQL server is in a domain which has no external trusts. Users with accounts
in this domain can remotely access the SQl databases through ODBC just fine. Users who do not have domain accounts in this domain are being denied access by their domain account, and the SQL authentication is not passed through, even though remote access is
set to allow "everyone", and the database is set to Windows authentication and SQL authentication. This worked until early this week (the spreadsheet was created in 2010), and I have been looking fruitlessly for a fix ever since. As far as I know,
no changes were made to group policy on this domain, and no changes were made to the server or database recently, except Microsoft patches. None of the patches this month looked like they would affect this.

It works locally on the server and remotely for users in the same domain. I am trying to use the SQL account and password to connect to the database, but users from outside this domain fail to reach the SQL database for authentication. It looks like Windows
authentication is not passing the SQL credentials on if the windows authentication fails. I don't know how to resolve this. The only options in SQL are "Windows authentication and SQL authentication" or "Windows authentication only". The database is already
set to the first option. Somehow, I need to set the server to allow the SQL authentication even if the Windows authentication fails.
    Hi pkuti01,
SQL Server mixed mode is "Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication", we have to restart SQL Server service after change the authentication to mixed mode.

  • Connection to MySQL via ODBC not working

    Hello all together,
I've got a problem with the ODBC connection to MySQL. The connection via ODBC is established and things like tnsping are working.
When I select some data within the SQL*Plus environment, I get no real result. For example "select table_name from all_tables@mysql;" returns nothing.
    My entry in listener.ora:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME=odbc_mysql)
    (ORACLE_HOME=D:\oracle\product\11.0.1\db_1)
    (PROGRAM=dg4odbc)
    My entry in tnsnames.ora:
    MYSQL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID=odbc_mysql))
    (HS=OK)
    The initodbc_mysql.ora in ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = odbc_mysql
    HS_AUTOREGISTER = TRUE
    HS_DB_NAME = hsodbc
I tried some modifications but I still get no data from mysql database. When I try "select * from customer@mysql;" I get the correct number of records, the correct column names, but the content is always "¬¬¬¬". The odbc driver works, because with MS Access I can fetch the data. I'm using Oracle 11g Release 1 EE and MySQL ODBC 5.1.5.
What could be the reason for this?
    Greetings,
    Joerg

created in my UTF-8 Mysql DB your table and inserted a record; the select shows:
    SQL> select * from "movieclass"@mysql;
    idClass
    ClassName
    123
    H e l l o
As you can see the content is there, the "space" between the letters is related to unicode. Each character is interpreted by 2 bytes and SQL*Plus wrongly displays both. Using iSQLPLus or SQLDeveloper does not show the "space" between the letters.
    Here the data type mapping:
    SQL> desc "movieclass"@mysql;
    Name Null? Type
    idClass NUMBER(3)
    ClassName NOT NULL NVARCHAR2(50)
    What's the exact version of DG4ODBC you're using? 11.1.0.7?
According to the listener file you're using DG4ODBC on Windows. There was a high/low byte issue in DG4ODBC for Windows. This issue is fixed in 11.1.0.7 and a certain patch. So I recommend you to get first the 11.1.0.7 patchset (if you don't already have it installed):
    6890831 Oracle Database Family: Patchset
11.1.0.7.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER 11.1.0.7.0
and then please apply also the latest patch:
    8689191 Oracle Database Family: Patch
    ORACLE 11G 11.1.0.7 PATCH 16 BUG FOR WINDOWS 32 BIT 11.1.0.7.0
There was a high/low byte issue

  • Can SQL*Plus connect via ODBC to NON-Oracle data source?????

I am struggling to understand something. I downloaded Oracle instance client, SQL*Plus and ODBC components with the hopes of being able to connect via SQL*Plus to a non-Oracle/ODBC compliant database.
Is this possible? Or is SQL*Plus ability to connect via ODBC only to an Oracle data source??
    Thanks...

sqlplus only connects to oracle. you can use the odbc driver from instant client to allow other applications to access oracle via odbc (e.g. excel). if you need to connect to non-oracle odbc database (ms-access, foxpro, etc.) you need odbc driver for those sources.
you can use sqldeveloper to connect to oracle and non-oracle databases. check otn product info for sqldeveloper for more details.

  • Problem remote connection to SQL via ODBC

Hello, I have a server machine on which I installed the "SQL Server 2008 R2 Express." On the same machine I have configured a connection to the SQL server via ODBC and I developed a VI that uses the "LABSQL ADO function" and it perfectly communicates via ODBC with the database.
The problem is when I try to connect to the database from a remote PC. Even on the remote PC I configured the connection via ODBC. I launch the same VI I described above, it performs correctly the ADO Connection Open the ADO connection, but the SQL Execute returned an unknown error: -2147217865. It seems that it can not find the table on which I am doing the query.
Does anyone have any idea? I have no experience with databases and do not know what tests to do.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
actually the Microsoft error code seems to be related to not-existing table (see here).
Anyway, this error code may result when trying to use tables with spaces or other special characters ("-", "/", "\", "?" ) in their names.
Is this true also in the database you are using?
Could it be an issue with permission levels?
    I hope it helps!
    Bye,
    Licia

    Hi Klaus,
I think the unixODBC driver manager is installed
    I have:
    oracle@pcora11:/opt/oracle/product/11.2.0/gtw_odbc/hs/log> odbcinst -j
    unixODBC 2.2.11
    DRIVERS............: /etc/unixODBC/odbcinst.ini
    SYSTEM DATA SOURCES: /etc/unixODBC/odbc.ini
    USER DATA SOURCES..: /home/oracle/.odbc.ini
    and
    cat /etc/unixODBC/odbcinst.ini
    [MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver]
    Driver = /usr/lib64/libmyodbc5.so
    UsageCount = 1
but the two file for SYSTEM and USER DSN are empty.
    I tried now:
    HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME =/usr/lib64/libodbc.so
    and
    HS_LANGUAGE=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
and the result is still the same, what I posted in the prevoius answer to Mike,
ORA-28500: Verbindung von ORACLE zu Fremdsystem gab diese Nachricht zur³ck:

Even if I copy the content of ona_nb-odbc.ini file to /etc/unixODBC/obc.ini
I still get the same error.
    Any ideas?

  • Sending binary file via RS232 connection

    Hi,
I want to send a binary file via RS232 connection but I have troubles reading the .bin file and then converting the data to string in order to send it via RS232. Any ideas how i can deal with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    IG.

It is hard to help then you do not post any code. I suggest you go to the toolbar then help. Then you select Find Examples. Search for files. Also since you are new to Labview always have context help enabled. Both tools are important if you want to learn Labview. Feel free to post again if you are stuck.
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

  • Error when connecting via ODBC connections

    Alright, so....
    I have a Windows 7, 64 bit OS.  I installed Oracle 10g, I installed Crystal Reports Xi release 2.
Via ODBC Administrator, I set up my data sources, and they all connect successfully.
I go into Crystal Reports, create a new report, and attempt to set a new connect and use those same data sources. I get prompted for my user name and password.  I get the error:
    Logon failed.
Details: IM004:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandel on SQL_HANDEL_ENV failed
HELP!  I've changed security settings, I've wiped my machine and started over from scratch, I've even installed Oracle 11g. Please help!  I'm about to pull my hair out. I am sure this is probably something easy or something I've overlooked, but I give up and throw the towel in.

Go into \windows\syswow64 and use the odbcadm32.exe located in there. It's the 32 bit version of the ODBC Administrator.
Also, search before posting and this has been answered.
And you need Service Pack 6 to be supported on Windows 7.
    Thank you
    Don
