Connect to other session

Hi,
I was connected using putty to a server were xe is installed, and sqlplus was running a long query for hours.
Then I got a power failure on my pc (not on server), I lost my putty connection but my oracle session is still active in v$session.
I would like to connect to it (as sysdba OR as simple user) to be able to commit it.
Feasable?

Hi Alain,
as far as I know, this is not possible. All you can do is to kill the session and restart your transaction. I recommend use a screen session that survives a broken shell session or to run is with nohup as script - which should include the commit.

    Hi All,
    we are having a severe performance issue in my database when we are running batch jobs.
    This was a new database(11.2.0.2) and we are testing the performance by running some batch jobs. These batch jobs included some inserts and updates.
    I am seeing read by other session in top 5 timed events and cache buffers chains in Latch Miss Sources section.
    Please help me to solve this out.

  • How do I close a connection when the session ends?

    I have a website that is using JavaMail to display a user's mail through the browser. I'd like to keep the connection to the mail server open during the whole session that the user is logged in, in order to improve response time. The problem is, I can't detect if a user closes their browser so that I can close the connection to the server.
    Is there a way for me to close the mail server connection when the session ends?

    Here are the sql queries which will tell you who is attached to which aw in which mode.

    The command requires the database to be

    For the above error conditions Oracle9i will report one of the errors:
    ORA-12719: operation requires database is in RESTRICTED mode
    ORA-12720: operation requires database is in EXCLUSIVE mode
    ORA-12721: operation cannot execute when other sessions are active
    Oracle9i can also report:
    ORA-12718: operation requires connection as SYS
    if you are not connect as SYS (INTERNAL, "/ AS SYSDBA").

    What is your database release ?
    You can try first shutdown the database if it is in mount state. Then restart the complete system.
    If the problem remains same..

  • OSX: Connecting to admin session not working anymore since 8.0.12

    It seems to me that connecting to console session does not work anymore since the recent update to 8.0.12. Had no troubles before the update, now it does not connect to the console session but a normal one. Please fix this.

    Thanks for your reply. I mixed up terms. I cannot connect to the "admin session", in my last message I used the term "console session", sorry about that. Connecting works, but it connects normally instead of the admin session. Checkbox
    "Connect to admin sesssion" is active.

  • Getting "Error 404--Not Found" while connecting to OLT session

    I am getting "Error 404--Not Found" error while connecting to OLT session. I had tried re-starting all the services including the database services but to no avail.
    Below is the description :
    Error 404--Not Found
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
    The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
    If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
    If anybody had faced similar issues, please do let me know the resolution for the same.

    This is an old issue. Read Doc ID 749386.1 on MOS. The suggested fixes are as follows:
    1. The maximum number of connections that are allowed per Port is 250. There is a 250 connection limit per port. Please use a different user ID and desktop as the workaround, so this way a different port can be used.
    2. If using a different user ID and desktop is not feasible, increase the value of the maxlogins parameter as indicated below:
    Increase the maxlogins in the Essbase.cfg file to 5000, and restart Essbase.
    Note: Make sure that there are no sessions active within the EAS console before restarting the Essbase services.

    We have a Windows XP desktop with iTunes for windows. The hard drive needs to be reformatted. Right now, the computer will not connect to other computers on the network. Can I save my iTunes songs to a thumbdrive, then re-load after reformatting?  How do I do it?

    Copy the entire iTunes folder out to the drive. If it is too big to go as one copy stuff over to another computer in batches. It is important to have not only the media but the library file in order to properly restore your library.
    See also this User Tip. Assuming the machine won't connect to the internet you could download the SyncToy installer on another machine and then transfer it with the thumb drive. If it will connect to the net don't forget to deauthorize the machine before reformatting the hard drive.

    I have tried reseting the network settings and forgetting my wireless connection and re-connecting to it. I even backed up my phone on itunes and restored it, factory reseted it. Nothing seems to work.
    Also after my upgrade to ios 8.1 my personal hotspot option under cellular data has disappeared.
    Would you please help me out? I would really appreciate it.

  • Firefox is not saving open tabs when closing, it says other session of Firefox is running but this is not the case.

    Firefox used to save open tabs when closing the browser. This no longer happens and Firefox says other session running. Task Manager shows that this is not the case.
    Recently installed an flv/mpeg viewer "aLot" which placed a toolbar in Firefox.
    Am running Firefox 3.0.5 on Windows XP with Service Pack 3.

    Your useragent says your are running Firefox 3.6.13 -> is that true.
    If not, do the following and post back your new Firefox version:
    * Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
    * If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
    * Filter = general.useragent.
    * Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
    * Then restart Firefox

  • NAS drives grayed out and can't connect to other Macs

    Hello All,
    After upgrading my 15-inch, Mid 2010 MacBook Pro to Mavericks (10.9 13A603) my NAS storage drives are grayed out in Finder. I can't go directly to my NAS drive in Finder. I can't simply click on the NAS drives in Finder and see what is in the directory. The directories are grayed out!.
    In order for me to connect to my NAS stotage drive I have to go to "DEVICES" on the leftside of the Finder window and then click on the MacBook Pro HD. From there I have to click on "Network." From "Network" I can get a slow connection to my NAS.
    As for as connection to other Macs in my office, I have to take the same steps above. I can't connect directly to the other Macs in my office in Finder. Nether can the other Macs connect to other Macs! All Macs in the office are set up to allow both AFP and SMB. However, one lonely 2009 iMac in our office is still on Mountian Lion and it can connect to other Macs and the our NAS without problems.
    One strange things this, I can do a Screen Share to the other Macs from my 2010 MacBook Pro! I can't connect directly in Finder, but I can do a Screen Share. Strange!
    Is there a fix for this or was Marverick let out the jungle to earily?

    I forgot to add that everything was previously connected via an Airport express wireless system. I just got an Airport Extreme system which hasn't changed things a bit.
