Using iPad2 and connected to wi-fi.  Unable to send email but can receive email.....why?

Have you checked your mail version number; It should be 2.1.1. on your MacBook if your profile is up to date.
If not, run a software update.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    Hello, sadly Apple pays more attention to iDevices Mail than Mail for Macs.
    In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
    Then click the Show Details button & Check again.

  • Mac Mail sends email okay, does not receive

    For a few days, I have been unable to receive email to my Inbox (using Mail to check yahoo via IMAP). I have been able to send just fine (as verified by logging in at yahoo.com). After reading other people's notes, I have tried several things, such as taking offline, then back online. It seems I only have the problem with my Inbox (it appears that I am getting bulk mail just fine), but I could not "rebuild" the Inbox (under "Mailbox") as it is greyed out. I have also tried deleting the folders in my Mail library and starting over. It is building up all the other mailboxes now, but not the Inbox.
    What could cause just the Inbox to stop working (and receiving messages) and how can I fix?  Thank you.

    You need a DATA service enabled by your carrier to be able to send e-mail via thier network.  Do you have a data plan with your carrier ?  If so - is it enabled ?
    Can you access internet thru your network (not wifi) ?

    Having trouble sending messages from mac email but no problem receiving emails? Not sure how to get it working. Called apple and they want my credit card before they help me. Did anyone else have this email problem.

    With Mail running, click Window in the menu bar and select Connection Doctor. That will tell you what service is not working. If this is a gmail account, it may well be yet another problem with the gmail smtp server. It happens too often.

    Is there a way to set up your email account so that you can only email out, but not receive/download the emails on to your computer?

    Set up your account, have it Enabled, but do not select to have it included when automatically checking for new messages, and also click on Mailbox in the menubar and take the account Offline. In Mail, and Offline account can be used to send, but will not collect new messages. There are a few providers that require you to have at least logged into the serve one time, and authenticated.

    The specified IP address is in the 169.254.0.0/16 is the self-assigned link-local address block. That address block is used (among other uses) when the host is not receiving an IP address in response to its DHCP requests. This usually means that there's either no DHCP server, there's a misconfigured or restricted DHCP server, or there's a connectivity issue between the client and the DHCP server.
    You'll want to look at the wiring between your client and whatever here is (supposed to be) offering up IP addresses in response to DHCP requests, inclusive.

    I posted this last week at the end of a year old post, but only received word from the original poster telling that his fix was to get an I-Phone. After many years of dealing with Nokia idiosyncrasies, several months ago, I too gave up and got an I-Phone. It is beautifully reliable. Unfortunately, my daughter's phone died, and a friend gave me a new E72 for her. It looks like I'm back to Nokia reliability. Can anyone help restore my continually fading faith in Nokia? Here's my problem:
    I've set up email manually, through the set up wizard, and I'm attempting to point "Sync Email " to one the of many accounts now in my phone. The email accounts can send, but won't receive. I have gotten into a never ending loop:
    The help screen says to "To start synchronising email messages between your device an the e-mail server, select options>synchronise" However, there is no "synchronise" under options.
    If I go into "messaging">options>settings>email", all the emails accounts that I have created show, but if I go into "messaging">options>settings>sync email", it shows "Mailbox in Use" "None".
    When I click on "none", I get the message "No Mailbox defined. Define now?

    I've contacted Nokia. First, I was told to pull the battery and wait 5-10 mins. Same problem. Next, I was told to do a factory reset. Same problem. Finally, I was told that if it wasn't a tested pop3 (gmail, yahoo, etc), Nokia doesn't support it. I doesn't seem to matter that every Nokia I have had in the past work with my email server.
    Has anyone found a Nokia-based solution to this problem?

    I have ran into this situation quite a few times in my experiences with fax issues,  it very well could be the digital line itself. My last suggestions for you would be to try a power reset on the printer, and also try a filter on the fax line to see if that could help the line. If you are still having issues with sending faxes, give us a call to our technical support to see if there are any more options for you.
    Press the Power button to turn on the product.
    With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
    Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
    Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
    If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

  • When I send emails why do I sometimes get the message that my email address is not recognised by the server?

    This only happens when I send from my Pipex mailbox.  If I then change the sender address to my gmail account, the message goes off ok.  I never have this problem with my iMac, only with the iPhone and iPad.

    On your computer or safari on your iOS device navigate to:

    Click the "Manage your Apple ID" button, and sign in to your iCloud account.  Once in, on the left side select "Password and Security", and this will populate our options on the right side.  You should see an option to reset your security questions. 
    If for any reason you can not reset these security questions, or get an error, then you may need to contact Apple directly - http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57.   Explain the issue, and they can get your to a "Account Security" agent, who will be able to verify your identity, and assist in resetting the security questions.

    In the iOS mail app, when I compose a message, I can select what email address I want a given email to be sent from. I use this feature, but sometimes the email will go out with a DIFFERENT "From" email address than the one I selected. This is a big problem, as I have separate work and personal email addresses.
