    Hello,
    I recently installed Solaris 11 11/11 on a cloud-based virtual machine - so that I can start learning about it - and wanted to know what do I need to configure in order to connect via SSH from my SunOS console to some Linux boxes that use SSH2-RSA key authentication.
    Thank you!

  • Is it possible to connect Sqlfire server with oracle using DBSynchronizer using default license

    is it possible to connect Sqlfire server with oracle using DBSynchronizer using default license
    Sql fire is my machine
    Oracle is another machine
    When i connect sqlfire with oracle using DBsynchronizer It shows the error message as Wan is not supported for default license
    When i connect Sqlfie(my system) with oracle( another system) using JDBC Rowloader .nothing is happening after some time it shows the error like"time out for pool connection to archive database.When i increase the time out also nothing is happening.
    what is the reason for above two errors(I stated in the pragraph.)
    is it beacuse of wan netwrok not supported by default evaluation license?
    could you please explain?

    I don't think this has anything to do with a VMware product.

  • Secure Shell Program in OSX?

    I'm making the switch to OSX and know that the OS has a built in secure shell type program...can anyone tell me about it and how to get to it?

    If you're familiar with UNIX or Linux-type systems, the terminal Application described by Shaddow will be very useful to you, as you can run everything you might need from the command-line.
    It should be installed by default in your Applications->Utilities folder.
    If you're coming from Windows, you're probably familiar with programs like "PUtty", where you can enter all the values you need in a Windows-y window and a shell pops up on the desktop.
    "ssh" is a program commonly used from the command line, but you may want to check out "scp" as well.
    If you're feeling adventurous and want to know all about using secure shell, open up a terminal window and type "man ssh<enter>" or "man scp<enter>".

  • Unable to connect to Oracle using OCI Drivers on Linux

    Hi Everyone!
    I am facing a peculiar issue while using Instant Client on Linux ( 64Bit ) running on Red Hat 4.1.
    I have downloaded the instant client version 10.2.0.3(.zip) .so files from the below URL
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/linuxx86_64soft.html
    UPloaded all the files to a directory under /opt and changed the .bash_profile file, the latest content looks like

    I have used the classes12.jar and ojdbc.jar which came with the download and nothing seems to work. A bit surprising when sqlplus works and not the application. I suspect there could be an issue with the driver class. I have been struggling to figure this out for days now...
    Can anyone please share their thoughts if something similar was observed earlier please.
    Any quick help will highly be appreciated.

    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/instantclient_10_2
    export ORACLE_HOMEYou don't set ORACLE_HOME with Instant Client.
    PATH=$PATH:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export PATHThis is unnecessary.
    CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2:/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc.jar
    export CLASSPATHThis is wrong.
    It should be:
    CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc14.jar:<whatever else you need there>
    Java.library.path=/opt/instantclient_10_2
    export Java.library.pathThis is useless; java.library.path is not an environment variable.
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc10 in java.library.pathThe case is pretty clear. You want to use the OCI driver (your URL starts with "jdbc:oracle:oci:"), so the Java Virtual Machine is looking for libocijdbc10.so in the Java library path but cannot find it.
    What is also clear is that the program does not use the CLASSPATH environment variable you set, because then it would never have found the Oracle Driver.
    So it seems that your program is ignoring the environment you set (which would explain why it also ignores LD_LIBRARY_PATH which you set correctly).
    You must have the environment variables set and exported in the shell that starts the "java" executable.
    Also, check that there is no other ojdbc14.jar on this machine (use "find").
    To help you debug your problem, let me explain how Sun Java sets Java library path on Linux:
    - If you start java with "java -Djava.library.path=/some/dir:/other/dir ...", the Java library path is set to exactly that value.
    - If you do not specify -Djava.library.path, the Java library path is taken from the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    - Directories listed in /etc/ld.so.conf have no influence on the Java library path (which gave me quite a headache in the beginning).
    Do you really need the OCI Driver? If you can do with the Thin Driver (i.e., use an URL that starts with "jdbc:oracle:thin:") you don't need any shared libraries at all.
    Yours,
    Laurenz Albe

  • User permission issue in connecting to Oracle using java in Cent OS

    Hi ,
    I am facing a peculiar issue and since I am new to Cent OS, I hope somebody can help me.
    I am using Cent OS 4.2 and I installed Oracle client 10.2 in cent os 4.2.
    I am having a java application which connects to Oracle server in another Linux system using Oracle OCI driver which comes along with Oracle client
    I have a user called user1 which belongs to group group1 as primary group and my application runs under this user user1.
    This user is a member of oinstall group (which is the group for oracle uesr which has access to oracle client directories/files)
    But when my application tries to connect to Oracle server, I am getting connectivity error saying "Oracle driver not found" or "cannot load libocijdbc10.so". All environment variables like ORACLE_HOME, PATH,CLASSPATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH are set properly.
    The permissions to Oracle folder/files are rwx for owner(oracle user) , rx for group(oinstall) and none for others
    What we observed are
    1. When the application is start under root user, it works
    2. When we give rx permission to others, it works
    3. When we make oinstall group as the primary group for my user user1, it works
    My questions here
    1. Why it is not working even though my user user1 is a member of oinstall group
    2. Why it is working when I make oinstall as the primary group
    3. Is there any difference in security policy of RHEL and Cent OS
    4. How can I access libraries from multiple folders which created by different user and belongs to different groups, if this is the case
    I never faced this issue in RHEL4
    Hope some body can help me.
    Regards
    Sunil

  • Using non-alphabetical symbols in Oracle Label Security API

    I decide to use Oracle Label Security Release 9.0.1 , but I have some problems in realization . When I try to use function sa_policy_admin.apply_table_policy with
    following parameters:
    sa_policy_admin.apply_table_policy(
    POLICY_NAME => 'policy1',
    SCHEMA_NAME => 'domain1\user1',
    TABLE_NAME => 'table1'
    I receive messages :
    ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-00911: invalid character
    ORA-00911: invalid character
    ORA-06512: at "LBACSYS.LBAC_POLICY_ADMIN", line 251
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    Tell me please , may be there are any limitations on parameter SCHEMA_NAME in function ,
    because this function can't understand symbol "\".
    Note 1: It is obligatory to use symbol "\" in schema_name ,
    because I have to connect to DB as external user (user of Windows 2000 Server).
    Note 2: ORA-00911 invalid character
    Cause: Special characters are valid only in certain places. If special characters other than $, _, and # are used in a name and the name is not enclosed in double quotation marks ("), this message will be issued. One exception to this rule is for database names; in this case, double quotes are stripped out and ignored.
    Action: Remove the invalid character from the statement or encl[i]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

    Yes I have with 10gr3
    It can be made to work but perhaps not in the way you want (per user?). Your label security will need to have policies based on something.
    I did a proof of concept using Security Group column as the 'label'. Then applied VPD policies based on which network the request came from (1 DB rac node in each network).
    In my case I wanted to show ALL content to a secure network but a subset of content to the lower security network. For this use case it is ideal.
    It worked flawlessly...not supported though
    Apparently OLS is on roadmap or UCM (WCC) so ask Oracle and see if you can find out if it is slated for any particular release yet.

  • Trying to connect to Oracle using Web App

    Hi Guys, I'm hoping someone here can help. This question goes out to anyone who has tried to connect to an Oracle database via web application written using Java Server Pages and Servlets. There is a specific file called the context.xml that contains the connection parameters to Oracle. Please note thread of conversation derived from a Java forum I've posted to earlier.
    The bottom line is that "orcl" is the SID value for the Oracle database. The connection pool apparently isn't able to create connection objects based on the SID value given. When I attempt to run the test.jsp page in the browser I get the error message noted below. I still don't know how to fix this and simply must get it working.
    Any advise is welcome.
    Alan
    I'm putting together a test page test.jsp in Tomcat that attempts to access my Oracle database running on the same machine. The point here is just to make sure I have the connection parameters correctly set before proceeding too far into the web application.
    In my context.xml file I have the following:
    <Resource name="jdbc/myoracle" auth="Container"
                  type="javax.sql.DataSource" driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"
                  url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:orcl"
                  username="BASIC_USER" password="tiger" maxActive="6" maxIdle="3"
                  maxWait="10000"/> In my web.xml file I have the following:
    <resource-ref>
          <description>Oracle Datasource example</description>
          <res-ref-name>jdbc/myoracle</res-ref-name>
          <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
          <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>My test.jsp page simply attempts to open a connection with the database and to display data from one table.
    When I go into the browser to open the page I get the following SQLExceptioin error:
    SQL Problem: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor )
    SQL State: null
    Vendor Error: 0
    It refers to the SID value in the descriptor. Well...you can see from the descriptor that I've written "orcl". That is the SID. url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:orcl"
    At this point I'm spinning my wheels. I don't know what else to do to make this work.
    Please advise.

    Click to email this message
    Oracle docs say:
    ORA-12505:TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
    Cause: The listener received a request to establish a connection to a database or other service. The connect descriptor received by the listener specified a SID for an instance (usually a database instance) that either has not yet dynamically registered with the listener or has not been statically configured for the listener. This may be a temporary condition such as after the listener has started, but before the database instance has registered with the listener.
    Action:
    - Wait a moment and try to connect a second time.
    - Check which instances are currently known by the listener by executing: lsnrctl services <listener name>
    - Check that the SID parameter in the connect descriptor specifies an instance known by the listener.
    - Check for an event in the listener.log file.

    Thanks for the description for the Error message 12505. It doesn't help much. This I did find out by running this command: LSNRCTL SERVICES LISTENER

    So, according to this orcl is the correct SID parameter. Please advise further.

    1. in physical connections part can i use the same work schema
    2. Can i use same contexts created or do i need to create everything as new and then try?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    As you mentioned that you just upgraded the database, so the data is same and schema is same you can connect with the same work schema.
    Yes, you can use the same contexts , but need to do Reverse Engineering for your new database.
    And about data server, i think you also have no need to create new data server, if hostname,sid and port etc are same as these were with R11(consult with your DBAs regarding it)
