Connecting to an external Web Service

All-
I have read the "Invoking a Synchronous Web Service" tutorial and it has great coverage on how to connect to Web Service hosted on OC4J. I have written a web service that is standalone using gSoap and C++ and do not know how to modify the partnerLink on page 20 for such a service. I can access the service with the following url, http://localhost:18088/
So I will need to send a SOAP message to that url.
Something that looks like this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope
xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:elt="http://iec.elt.interoperability/">
<SOAP-ENV:Body>
<elt:soap-openImage>
<elt:path>\\server\\images\\test.jpg</elt:path>
</elt:soap-openImage>
</SOAP-ENV:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
Thanks for your help. If you just tell me what document or book to read or sections of book to read that would be great!!!!

  • How to connect to External Web Service? Error: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED

    Hi all,
I have created an External Web Service, and I am trying to call the web service from SAP. I watched some tutorial and did everything like them, but I am getting this error:
SOAP:1,023 SRT: Processing error in Internet Communication Framework: ("ICF Error when receiving the response: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED")

  • Consume external web service and experience connection timed out issue

    Hi all,
I followed tutorial:http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_14/jdtut_11r2_14.html to consume external web service.
At step 2,substep 4, I experience the following error:
"DCA-40002: The WSDL document is invalid due to the following reason: WSDLException: faultCode=PARSER_ERROR: Failed to read wsdl file at:"http://www.webservicex.net/WeatherForecast.asmx?WSDL". Caused by : java.net.ConnectException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect."
I have tried to set up proxy:Tools > Preferences->Web Browser and Proxy. But it still doesn't work. Any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I have tried these 2 tutorials before. Both worked well. Publish an web service by myself, then consume it with a client. It works. But for this external wsdl published by USA weather forecast, it doesn't work. Navigate to http://www.webservicex.net/WeatherForecast.asmx?WSDL through firefox, and right response is returned. I wonder why connection timed out occurred and how to deal with it.
Could you please share your experience with me? Thanks.
    Thanks.

  • External Web Service - User and password in HTTP header

    Hi!
How is it possible to add user and password in the HTTP header in a external web service call?
I have created a "Portal Service from WSDL file - Client side" with the wizard in SAP Developer Studio.  I following the Java Development Guide - Web Service Security, and use the <i>secured service connection</i>.  I have also created a new <i>System Landscape</i>, but should the new system be based on HTTP, my own PAR or what?
How can I check that the user and password is added to the HTTP header or the SOAP envelope? Do I have to scan http traffic with a proxy as Paros or can I find the request sent from SAP EP in the logs?
    Cheers
    Asle

    Hello All,
I have been struggling a bit while putting a reasonable security framework on a jax-rpc style web service. I'm using JWSDP1.2 to set up the webservice. I've tried to outline my problem below. Please correct me where I'm wrong.
I've been through the Sun's WS tutorials, but they are not really clear on security. However, from them I surmised that there are two decent authentication techniques. HTTP Basic and mutual authentication (MA) . Both have their drawbacks though. HTTP Basic suffers from poor encryption while MA is a bit difficult to set up on both client and server sides. Another problem with MA is that there is no central repository for users/passwords.
OK, what I would really like to do is use my own user database to verify users/passwords i.e. use a HTTP Basic like authentication (but at application level) but run it over SSL for encryption. It seems simple, but is it possible?
Also, I have noted that when I use HTTP Basic on the service side, and use a java client, then setting username/password has no effect. In other words, I can always access the web-service, even with wrong username/password.
Sorry for the long post. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

  • Error calling external web service over HTTPS

    Hi everyone
I'm trying to call an external web service over HTTPS, and continually get the following error:
com.sap.engine.services.webservices.espbase.wsdl.exceptions.WSDLException: Peer sent alert: Alert Fatal: handshake failure
I haven't tried doing this before, so not quite sure where to start. I have a client certificate that must be used to access the remote web service, and I think the problem is associating the client cert with the web service call.
Has anyone else tried this before? Any suggestions of where to look?
I've had a brief look at Key Storage in NWA, but it's not something I'm familiar with - so not sure if it's even the right place to be looking.
Some help on this would be great!
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Thanks Aleksandar
Here's the output from the trace. Unfortunately the SAP forums don't allow attachments, so it may be difficult to read. Please let me know if you see anything that may help.
    Thanks

Has anyone ever consumed an external web service with SSL certificate security? How do you import this in your Web Dynpro project?
    Cheers!

    Hi Alain,
I just checked on a newer NW environment (NW 7.2) and was presented an empty list as well... It seems the mapping procedure I described is deprecated since NW 7.11, and the modeled CAF application service is already exposed as a web service.
You may want to have a look at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/43/f173947bbb025be10000000a1553f7/content.htm or http://scn.sap.com/message/7852996 for more info

    <p>Hello,</p>
    <p> </p>
<p>The first thing you should do is to check that your application server can reach the service your are trying to call. I suggest to try a:</p>

    <p>telnet &lt;remote_service_url&gt; &lt;remote_service_port&gt;</p>
    <p> </p>

  • HELP Using Oracle9i database to consume external Web Service

    Hi all,
I am trying to make use Oracle9i db to call an external .Net Web Service from a JAva Stored Procedure.
I created the .Net Web Service and use JDeveloper 9.0.3.4Build(1247) to create the Client Stub Java class(ie: serviceClientStub.java).
Following the instruction from the article"Calling External Web Service from Java Stored Procedure”, http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/jsp/samples/wsclient/Readme.html, I connected to the database using SQL Navigator4.3 tried to load the required jar files(with Create public synonym and Resolve option checked) into Oracle9i database(ver 9.2.0.1.0). They are loaded in the following order:
    [OC4J_HOME]/soap/lib/soap.jar
    [OC4J_HOME]/lib/dms.jar
    [OC4J_HOME]/jlib/javax-ssl-1_1.jar
    [ORACLE_HOME]/lib/servlet.jar
    [OC4J_HOME]/jdk/jre/lib/ext/mail.jar
Where [OC4J_HOME] refers to Oc4j_extended that I downloaded from Oracle website.
    [ORACLE_HOME] refers to oracle/ora90
However, most of the java classes failed to compiled. When I loaded the Client Stub class, it failed to compile as well.
This is the error message that I got:
ORA-29521: referenced name javax/mail/Flags could not be found
ORA-29521: referenced name javax/mail/MessageException could not be found
ORA-29521: referenced name javax/mail/MethodNotSupportedException could not be found
Any ideas how to resolve these issues?
Also, besides using the Client Soap stack library(above method), is there another way to be able to load the Client Stub class in the database, have it compiled successfully?
Your assistance will be highly appreciated!

As far as I can see, you're at least missing activation.jar. Without this library you won't be able to successfully load the mail.jar library.

  • Calling an external web service fron jdev 11g TP4

I am trying to build a BPEL process that invokes an external web service. So, I add a web service adapter on my project and when the wizared comes up I put the following as the web service URL:
    http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx?WSDL
This is just a webservice for weather. as soon as I copy it on the corresponding field I get the following error message
"Error while reading wsdl file http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx?WSDL. Exception: Failed to read wsdl file at: "http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx?WSDL", caused by java.net.connectException. : Connection timed out: connect ".
When I try to connect to the webservice through internet explorer I get the correct results.
Can anyone help me on how to do that?
    Thank you.

Are you working behind a proxy? Try setting the same proxy setting you have in IE inside JDeveloper under tools->preferences->Web browser Proxy.

    Hi Friends,
Idea is to call an external web service from SharePoint 2010 list.
Can we do this using visual studio 2010, how.
    another pointers, please advise.

    Hi,
You can create Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) web services that you can consume as external content types from Microsoft Business Connectivity Services (BCS).
For more information, you can refer to:

  • Define External Web services in SPRO. in SRM

    Hi SRM Gurus,
We are doing an Upgrade from SRM3.0 to SRM7.0 with MDM.
In SRM 7.0 -SPRO -We have to do the config in  Define External Web services
What are the parameters to maintain.
    I read from SDN that
Following parameters are not required in SRM 7.0. It was for ITS.
    ~OkCode ADDI
    ~target _top
    ~forcetarget yes
    ~caller CTLG
You need additional parameter in SRM 7.0.
returntarget _parent - for this what is the input parameters
    Hi Masa /Muthu
Can you list down what  are the Input parameters required for this config and the details?
    Regards
    G.Ganesh Kumar

    Hi Masa,
We have deployed the SRM-MDM Catalog Search UI in Portal.
    we tried accessing the http://<Portal Host>:<Portal Port>/SRM-MDM/SRM_MDM
Then we got a screen (Search UI App screen), where in we have provided the MDM Server name, then the MDM Server Password, then presses the Connect button, then below this, it displayed the Repository name created in the MDM. We have selected the Repository, then provided the Credentials of a User (Name: T_CORP) in MDM which has "Catalog Manager", and the "UI Configuration Manager" Roles. Please note that these Role names were created by us in MDM. Is it the right procedure or do we have any standard Roles delivered by SAP in MDM to map? If any standard Roles are available, where we need to check these.
Once the Credentials of MDM User is provided, and then selected the "Login" button.
Then we are getting the below error.
"java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Table with Code 'null' does not exist in the repository 'Repository' or is one of the system table (e.g. Workflows) that is not exposed in repository schema"
Please clarify; we are not configuring any values in iViews. Where we need to do this, I mean name of the iView, and what values do we need provide generally? We are just running the Search UI App application; I don't think it is an iView, because the URL shows the Application name details, etc...
Please guide us, how to fix this Error.
    Regards
    G.Ganesh Kumar

  • Define external web services

    Hello all,
We are running CCM 1.0.Have a doubt regarding "defining the external web services" in catalog content management.
In the documents it says " you must define external web services to define the connection to:
1.] CCM catalogs; 2.] OCI Catalogs
What is the difference between the two?? Are CCM catalogs not OCI compliant?
I always thought that once we load catalogs in CAT and CSE..that is it.What are these OCI catalogs now??
    Please help
    Sam

    Sam,
I can help you to define external webservices -
You can define webservices using <b>WF_EXTSRV</b>.
You will have to enter service id, Log, Servers, and Port, specify your system access data for HTTP. You can get these details from your BASIS team. You will have to specify path for your BSP (Web Page).
Select the call mode as <b>'Dialog Based Services'</b>.
After this you will have to define import/export parameters. Normally export parameters is a 'Decision' made by the user (Approved / Rejected).
You will have to maintain entry for your service id and Web task in table <b>SWLWPTSSID</b>. (Use SM30 to do it).
Hope these details will help you.
    Regards.

  • Lync internal / external web services FQDN

I have a Standard edition 2013 FE server
Should my internal/external web services url in DNS point to my FE internal IP or my Reverse proxy public IP?
For mobility it says it should point to the external IP but for address book updates etc surely I want my internal windows clients using the FE pool directly?
I am unable to differ them on 2013 standard edition...
***Don't forget to mark helpful or answer***

The external web services works in conjunction with a reverse proxy in the perimeter network. It provides clients external access to by using these web services. The FQDNs configured here are sent to clients when they log on, and are used to make an HTTPS
connection back to the reverse proxy when connecting remotely. The reverse-proxy server forwards the external web service FQDN to an internal hardware load balancer, or directly to the pool. The reverse proxy must be able to resolve the external web services
FQDN to the IP address of the internal Web server. The external web services FDQN must be resolvable in the public Internet.
If your internal server is a Standard Edition server, the internal FQDN is the Standard Edition server FQDN. If your internal server is a Front End pool, the FQDN is a hardware load balancer virtual IP (VIP) that load balances the internal web farm servers.
A hardware load balancer is required in a Front End pool with more than one Enterprise Edition server. A load balancer is not required for a Standard Edition server or a single Enterprise Edition Front End Server.
