Connecting vi's to build a dynamic system

I have four vi's. For ease, I'll call them A, B, C, and D. I would like to set it up so that the user opens A, enters their data, then clicks on a button that opens B. Once the user is finished with B, they click a button on B which opens C. Once done with C, they click on a button which opens D - the final program.
I don't think this should be that difficult to do, but I'm just not sure how to do it. I'm thinking sequencing structures? Could someone show me how to set this up? Thanks.

LV 6.0 doesn't have event structures. But there are several ways of acomplishing what you want.
First of all, don't use sequence structures--ever. They really aren't necessary and have some very bad side-effects. The way to keep things from happening all at once is to use LV's dataflow. Remember that no node (subVI, loop, etc) starts executing until all its inputs are satisfied. So if one subVI get's a piece of data--say an error cluster--from a previous subVI it won't run until that previous subVI finishes.
Second, to get a subVI to open its front panel there are a couple check boxes in the VI Properties that will do this for you. Check under Window Appearance>>Custom, or just set the thing to be a dialog box in the Window Appearance screen.
Now
take these two things together and you have everything you need to build your application. Each of your subVIs should have error IO clusters on them to pass through errors that occur during their execution (like the operator decided to abort the whole process an hit a cancel button). Use the error IO terminals to string the subVI functions together in the order you want them to execute, configure the subVI VI Parameters as mentioned above and you're done.

  • Do I need XI system for the connection to the integration builder

    Hi,
    I have a problem which i couldn´t manage to solve with the help of existing threads.
    I got the problem that I dont have a connection to the integration builder, I know thats not new, but i want to know if it is possible to create a connection without XI System Landscape, because our company doenst have this system?
    Hope there are possibilities.
    Thanks
    Volker Weckbach

    Okay, yes its not expressed clearly i think.
    I´ll explain my problem a bit nearer. I´ve worked with the Enterprise Services Builder. Now the Enterprise Services Browser in the TA se80 says that there is no connection to the integration builder, do I need this connection to have access to the work i have done in the ES Builder? I want to do Serviceimplementation.
    If this connection is necessary, is it only possible to realize that via XI?
    Are there ways to implement the service in an other way, maybe via NetWeaver?
    I´m sorry if it´s hard to understand me, but i have not much experience with ABAP programming, i have just started.
    Thanks Volker

  • How to connect a Compact RIO to a PXI System

    Hello,
    I want to connect my cRIO-9074 with my PXI System.
    First of all my Hardware configuration:
    1. "PXI-1036" Chassis with "PXI-8101" Embedded Controller and "PXI-8231" Ethernet
    2. "cRIO 9074" Integrated 400 MHz Realt-Time Controller
    3. "NI 9144" EtherCAT slave chassis
    The PXI System is connected with my Network through the Ethernet-Port on the "PXI-8101" Controller. The "NI 9144" is connected with the "cRIO 9074" through their EtherCAT Ports. That works without a problem.
    Now I want to connect my "cRIO-9074" with my PXI-System through the Ethernet Port on the "PXI-8321", but I can't find a way to get this work.
    In MAX I configured the second Ethernet Port on the PXI as "TCP/IP" with a IP and Subnet. Then I connected the cRIO and turned it on.
    But I can't find the cRIO anywhere in MAX or in a LabView Realtime Project.
    When I configure the "PXI-8321" as a EtherCAT Port, I can connect my "NI 9144" with it and use it in a LabView Project. But configured as Ethernet and connected with the "cRIO 9074" it doesn't works.
    Is there any way to get this working? Or is this not possible with my Hardware?
    I know I could connect the cRIO and PXI through a Switch with my Network and then use both in a LabView Real-Time Project. But I want to build a mobile Measurement-Station with as few devices as possible. If there is no other way I will use a Switch, but without would be better.
    Thankful
    Daniel Löffler

    Hi Daniel,
    it is not possible to connect cRIO-9074 Controller with the PXI System through the Ethernet-Port, because the RT cRIO Controller can not behave as a slave. cRIO Controller is always configured as a master, never as slave. The extension Chassis 9144 is configured as a slave, so you can use it with your cRIO Ctrl or with PXI Ctrl as well. Connection PXI-Ctrl, cRIO-Ctrl, NI 9144 is not possible.

    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: ORA-02063: preceding line from OWB_75
    Scenario:
    I am having difficulty getting ODBC connection between Oracle OWB app with an 11gR2 DB (running on a VirtualBox Linux) and SQL Server 2008 running directly on the host. (Windows 8)
    I am trying to take a SQL Server 2008 feed into Oracle Ware house Builder, and think(!) I have read everything and configured it in accordance (but I presume not given 3 days of failed attempts to fix it). I have also read several blogs, hence there might be a few more settings in the configuration files than the formal documentation says, but these have come from blogs that have “Solved” problems for other similar situations.
    The environments:

    IP: 192.168.1.80
    Windows 8 (64bit) , with system DSN ODBC connection ACME_POS created with 32 bit ODBC set up (This setting still shows up fine in the 64 bit ODBC).

    Let us rewrite your ODBC DSN a little bit... Your current odbc.ini looks like:
    [ACME_POS]
    Driver     = FreeTDS
    Description = ODBC Connection via FreeTDS
    Trace       = 1
    Servername  = 192.168.1.80
    Database    = dbo
    Let us change it a little bit so that we only need one config file - no odbcinst.ini nor freetds.conf file anymore:
    [ACME_POS]
    Driver =/usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
    Server = 192.168.1.80
    Database
    = dbo     ####  I have some doubts that you have a SQL Server database called dbo - one database that always exists is master - so as a test use master here or get the real database name of the SQL Server database you want to connect
    Port = 60801 ## make sure it really is the correct port - best would be to check on the SQL server and then try telnet <ip> <port> if you can connect to the SQL server
    TDS_Version = 8.0
    QuotedId=YES
    Especially the last 2 parameters are mandatory. TDS_Version specifies the TDS Version you have to use to connect to the SQL Server and QuotedID is required for DG4ODBC as it surrounds objevt names by double quotes.
    What happens now when you try to connect with for example isql - the ODBC test utility shipped with the ODBC Driver manager?
    In addition, could you please do me another favour and check the word size of DG4ODBC and the ODBC Driver Manager as well as the ODBC Driver - just execute:
    file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/dg4odbc
    file /usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
    file < the patch to your libodbc.so library>/libodbc.so
    and post the output.

  • SPROXY - No connection to the Integration Builder

    Hi,
    While generating a ABAP Proxy the communication between R/3 system and XI 3.0 repository did not work; transaction SPROXY displayed the following error message, 'No connection to the Integration Builder, only local data is visible'.
    Can someone please help me out.
    Regards,
    Jigisha

    Hi,
    I had the same problem and I have solved it.
    You have just to apply the following sap notes :
    1232805 - Saint: Queue calculation for an add-on with CRT´s fail.
    769120 - Support Package for APPINT 200_620
    The first one is to update tha SPAM/SAINT to v 30 and the second one allow you use the pi/xi objects on application system.
    There is another sap note 689847, but you just apply this if the sap notes above described did not work.

  • No connection to the Integration Builder while using ABAP Proxies

    Hi All,
    Here am getting an error when i say SPROXY in R3 system.
       No connection to the Integration Builder while using ABAP Proxies.
    For this i have gone through the blog no 3022.
    and i did all the connection.And then i have gone through the steps
    Go to---->test connection steps.I added the address called com.sap.aii.server.name.repository in SPROXSET table.
    and i run the Tcode SPROXY.Now am getting into DUMP when is say SPROXY.
    And also i run a program called SPROX_CHECK_IFR_ADDRESS to add the address
    but i didn't found the path for Excahnge Profile it was disable.
    and later i run a program SPROX_CHECK_IFR_CONNECTION
    now it went into DUMP.
    Can Anyone suggest me how to fix this error.
    Thanks,
    Kalyan.

    hi kalyan
    1)check whether your R/3 system is based on WEBAS 640 or WEBAS620 (if it is on WEBAS 620 you need to install xi ADD ON,if on WEBAS 640 no need)
    2)check the report SPROX_CHECK_IFR_ADDRESS
    The address is taken the from following parameters in the exchange profile (section 'connections'):
    http://server:port/exchangeProfile --> Connection
    com.sap.aii.connect.repository.name: Server (e.g. pwdf0436)
    com.sap.aii.connect.repository.httpport: Port (e.g. 1080)
    com.sap.aii.connect.repository.contextroot: Root (e.g. rep)
    Furthermore, the logon data is also read from the exchange profile(section 'ApplicationSystem'):
    com.sap.aii.applicationsystem.serviceuser.name: User
    com.sap.aii.applicationsystem.serviceuser.pwd: Password

  • Dynamic System Resolution issues

    hello forumers,
    i'd like to implement a Dynamic System Resolution scenario, on an EP7 sp14.
    based on the examples i've found on the sap web site, i ve created some content (R/3 transaction Iviews using an alias "SAP_SRM")
    I tried to change the target R/3 server, based on the group to which the user belong !
    i've created a portal service : portalapp.xml =
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <application>
      <application-config>

  • How to build a measurement system using NI products and the system is outside PC

    I would like to build a system that uses NI's following products:
    1. Wave form generator
    2. Switches
    3. A/D board
    My question is: How to build such a system such that
    the system is outside PC? For example, the system is
    like an ordinary instrument that can be connected to
    PC through RS 485 port.
    Thanks!

    If you are planning on using SCXI, you have two options. You can still use the PXI-1000B chassis, and you will need to connect your DAQ board to the SCXI system with a cable.
    You can also consider using a PXI-1010 or PXI-1011 chassis. We call them combo chassis because they come with some PXI slots and they have an SCXI chassis attached to them. In this chassis, you can connect your DAQ board in the PXI slot closest to the SCXI chassis, and the DAQ board will communicate with the SCXI chassis through the internal PXI backplane, so you will not need to connect them through a cable. The PXI-1010 chassis has 8 PXI slots and 4 SCXI slots, and the PXI-1011 chassis has 4 PXI slots and 8 SCXI slots.
    The MXI-3 extender will let you control any PXI chas
    sis from a desktop. Keep in mind that there are two interfaces: the PCI-PXI-8330, which uses a copper cable, and the PCI-PXI-8335, which uses a fiber optics cable. The advantage of the fiber optics cable is that it is less likely to have noise and the PXI chassis can be up to 200 meters away from the computer.
    Now, given that your signals have a 150V amplitud, you will need a SCXI-1127 module instead of a PXI-250x.
    Finally, we do not have an amplifier in PXI form that can read a 50 KHz - 300 KHz and peak voltage 5v, and amplify it to 120v. However you could check other PXI vendors for those boards. You can find some information of third party vendors by going to the NI Developer Zone and clicking on the Third Party Product Advisor link on the left.
    Hope this helps,

  • What is the best way to connect a MacBook Pro to my HiFi system ?

    Hi,
    I'm new to Apple support communities having just bought my first Macbook Pro (a 17" 2.5GHz i7 model) and this is my very first community post.
    Im a bit of a Hi-Fi enthusiast, so, with my new MacBook Pro I've taken the opportunity of completely reloading my iTunes library in high quality Apple Lossless format. Took a while but now I've completed the task Im pleased I've done it.
    My question is, what is the best way to connect a Macbook Pro to a high quality Hi-Fi preamp - my Hi-fi system is musical Fidelity, and the pre amp (an A5  CR Pre amp) and this pre amp, which has superb audio quality, only has analogue phono inputs ?
    I'm interested to understand what both the wired and wireless connection options are. I'm guessing one option must be to use the headphone output, but I have no idea if the output from the headphone socket on my new macbook (which is presumably designed to drive headphones) would be at a suitable level for a phono line level input ?
    Ive also read a few comments about using digital connection - and my second question would be - what is the audio digital connection on my macbook ?
    Aplogies if this question has been asked lots of times before but I've looked through some previous posts and can't find any answers in simple and straightforward language concentrating on the issue of connecting a MacBook Pro to an analogue phono pre amp input ?
    Thanks in anticipation of some advice.

    What is the best way to connect a MacBook Pro to my HiFi system?
    Look at the back of the reciever and see what your connection options are, the front headphone jack is output usually.
    The Mac's  analog audio in/out ports doubles as a optical in/out ports.
    The analog won't over power your amp, it's just a headphonejack, like a powered mic, just enough power to get the signal to the destination in one piece.
    Since you have a analog amp, your stuck with inferior analog connections, however you mentioned you wish to listen to the best sound quality of your lossless music.
    To do that your going to need a decent surround sound system with Toslink optical import jacks, a Toslink stereo jack to regular Toslink adapter, Toslink cable and enable the optical output in your System Preferences >Sound
    Another method is to use a Airport Express, it also has duo analog/opical out port. Then set up the Airport Express for iTunes streaming using the Airport Utility, then in iTunes setup the lower right corner one can set the connection.
    I recommned a Harmon Kardon surround sound system, with their 100 watt satelight speakers and the 200 watt subwoofer. Enable the "concert hall" and other neat effects which will turn your 2.0 (stereo) iTunes music into 4 channel speaker sound filling the room with music and sending the lower channels to the subwoofer.
    It will likely bring tears to your eyes that you can actually hear the full quality of your music as intended, I almost quarranty you will never want listen to music on a crappy iPhone or iPod again.
    If a surround sound system is out of your budget, you can get by using the Harmon Kardon "Go Play" portable stereo and a analog stereo cable.
    If your going to use your analog amp to power reference speakers, then there are various analog adapters of all sorts to make the appropriate connections once you know what they are, check out Radio Shack online for them.

  • ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned

    Hi All,
    My database is in 10.2.0.4 and has a dblink to sqlserver. The dblink works fine for normal queries.
    However when executing the following query from my oracle database

    AND ROWNUM < 101
    I am getting the following error

    2. If I give the StartDateTime to a value without using to_date I am able to get the output.
    Could you please tell me what could be the problem ?
