can anybody know how to resolve this issue
Edited by: 902943 on May 13, 2013 3:50 AM
OK, in short:
Cause: Wrong OPMN request port used to configure the connection (third step of "Create Application Server Connection" wizard). You might have kept the default (6003) but your OPMN is configured with different request port.
Solution: Check $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml file and look for entry like this:
<port local="6140" remote="6240" request="6040" />
Create the connection using OPMN request port that is set in opmn.xml file.

Fails to connect to the Oracle yum public server
Hello,
I would like to connect to the Oracle public yum server so I can install packages from the Oracle Linux via a yum client for my RHEL 5.4
I am trying to download and copy the appropriate yum configuration file in place, by running the following commands as root:
Oracle Linux 5
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d
# wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-el5.repo
--2011-10-29 15:53:41-- http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-el5.repo
Resolving public-yum.oracle.com... 141.146.44.34
Connecting to public-yum.oracle.com|141.146.44.34|:80... failed: Connection timed out.
Retrying.
It disabled the Linux firewall by /etc/init.d/iptables stop but it still doesn't help.
Thank you.feverlove wrote:

Resolving public-yum.oracle.com... 141.146.44.34
Connecting to public-yum.oracle.com|141.146.44.34|:80... failed: Connection timed out. This has nothing to do with the firewall (which only blocking incoming traffic, not outgoing traffic by default) and all to do with your routing. You have DNS properly configured, but you need to double-check your default gateway and other settings to make sure you can connect to a server on the internet directly. If you need to use a proxy server to make connections, you will have to configure that as well. -
64 bit SAP to 32 bit External Oracle Database connectivity failing
Dear All,
We are trying to connect to an external Oracle database thru DBCON method. We are able to connect to Oracle server from our IDES server which is a 32 bit server, but when we are trying to connect our development server which is a 64 bit server, the connectivity is failing.
we copied the correct 64 bit *.lib file to the SAP server but still same result. We are getting the error message - Work Process restarted. Session terminated.
the Oracle server we are trying to connect is 32 bit, can this create some problem ?
kindly any one help us in this reagrd.
thanks in advance,
Saurabh.Hi Eric,
thanks for the advice but I am a bit confused as where to execute that sqlplus command/query ?
in the Oracle server or from SAP and what does system/password@DEV means ??
can you elaborate on this please.
here i would like to add that we have connected to the external Oracle server using linked server approach of MS SQL (our SAP default database) and so our connectivity is happening till SQL level i.e. I am able to connect to the Oracle and query it using OpenQuery syntax. the problem is appearing when I am trying to connect from the ABAP level.
kindly suggest as to what can be the solution of this issue.
thanks
Saurabh. -
Failing over Oracle connections in a pool
Hi,
This message is probably a bit out of context (I've already posted
it to the JDBC group). I post here as well, since I guess it's
the place where people have the most experience with clustering
and HA. Original posting below...
Could you please tell me whether, yes or no, connections to an
Oracle database should fail over (when the database fails over
to another machine)? I use Oracle's Transparent Application Failover
(configured via Net8) with Weblogic 6 on Linux and Oracle 8.1.7
on Solaris/SPARC.
If this doesn't work in my configuration, is there any configuration
where it should work? (Another version of Oracle, WLS, OS, ...)
When I try TAF using the PetStore application, I get exceptions
related to no being connected to the database.
If TAF doesn't work with WebLogic, is there a way to work around
the problem? Can I catch these exceptions and renew the connections
in the pool? Or, what else is possible...?
I'd appreciate any help. I'd like to demonstrate our HA product
with WLS. If it doesn't work, I'll turn to iPlanet instead. Pity,
I really like WLS!
Thanks in advance for any help or advice!
Regards, Frank Olsen
Hi (Frank ;-)
I got carried away a bit too fast...
Some more testing shows that it doesn't work in all cases:
- when someone is trying to check out the shopping cart when the
the database fails (and fails over), I get exceptions once the
databses has restarted on the backup node
- the exceptions are related to some transactions being rolled
back and Oracle stating that it couldn't safely replay the transactions
- browsing the categories still works fine
- all access to the shopping cart and sign-in/sign-out causes time-outs
and exceptions
Any ideas what may cause this problem, please?
Regards,
Frank Olsen

Java Mail throws Connect failed error in Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition
Hi,
I am using Oracle 11g Enterprise edition.I have a java class which is used for reading outlook 2010 inbox and download attachments from mails .For Connecting to OutLook from oracle i am using "POP3S" protocol in my java class. Is Oracle Enterprise Edition supports "POP3S" protocol?, Or Enterprise edition needs any additional configuration for establishing outlook connection with "pop3s" ?.
Any help is appreciated

I suspect root cause is with Java not Oracle.
Oracle RDBMS does NOT speak any "protocol" except SQL natively. -
Oracle connect failed on x64 and IA64 platform via Oracle OLEDB provider
Hi everyone,
I installed SQL Sever on x64 and IA64 machine, and Create a database via Oracle datasource. I can connect the datasource via OLEDB and .Net provider successfully on x86 machine. But failed to connect the Oracle datasource on x64 and IA64.
Following is the error messgae:
1) Install 64 bit build on x64 machine:
Error message: Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. ORA-06413: Connection not open.
2) Install 32 bit build on x64 machine:
Error message: Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation.
I know there is a know bug on c:\Program Files (x86)\... with Oracle provider. And some one has given a workarround method that I should move my my application out of the the folder path which includes parentheses. But it really is mess method for SQL Server (That is my application)......
Is there any other workarround method? Or when will Oracle fix this bug?
Thanks^_^
LindsayIs 10204 available for x64 and IA64. It is said that there is only 10204 for x86 machine, right?
I downloaded 10203 for IA64 machine and tested connection on SQL Server with Oracle datasource via Oracle OLEDB provider, and got the following error (The data source is Oracle92 installed on another machine):
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation.
Could you please tell me what's wrong with it?
Thanks

I have zipped the my Java Applet program with the Oracle Thin Driver classes (EmpActivityApplet.zip) and coded the following HTML page to load the Applet:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html;CHARSET=iso-8859-1">

</head>
<body>
<applet code="EmpActivityApplet" CODEBASE="." ARCHIVE="EmpActivityApplet.zip"

HEIGHT = 300>
</applet>
</body>
</html>
Please somebody help me in resolving this problem. This is urgent.
Please reply to [email protected]
Regards,
Raju.Hi,
If ur Applet Needs to Access the System Resouces(JDBC API calls) u have to Make ur Applet trusted.U can Use the Keytool utility Bundled with JDK to Achecive this. The Actual Problem u may get is a Security Exception Due to which u cannot create a Connection Object which results in a Null Pointer Exception
thankx,

ORA-28547: connection to server failed, probable Oracle Net admin errorYou can't directly use the gateway - you can only access a gateway using a database link.
So this won't work:
$ sqlplus aa/aa@dg4msql
You need to connect to your Oracle database (for example as sysdba) and create a (public) database link:
create [public] database link dg4msql connect to "<MS SQl Server username! identified by "<MS SQl Server password>" using 'dg4msql;
Once you create the database link you can now access the MS SQl Server tables:

Connection Failed in OBIEE 11g Admin tool
Hi,
I have virtual image V305 of OBIEE on linux x86-64. It is working fine but I was not able to access Admintool from linux m/c.
So I have installed OBIEE 11g client on windows XP. It is showing all the subject area & tables. But when I am importing any table from my DB, it is giving error "Connection has failed". I have done tnsname.Ora file in both folder Oracle client & OBIEE client
Please help me as soon as possible.
ThanksI've found a work around for using tnsnames:
put the following string in "Data Source" and it works
(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <your host>)(PORT = 1521))(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVER = DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME = <your database>)))
Can you please refer below links for more methods.

I have tried everything to remedy this, this is why i am now turning to you guys.

RobertHi Guys,
Thank you both for your responses, my findings are as follows:
1. HOST=X.X.COM, ensure host is reachable : PING works and host(s) are reachable.
2. In RAC Env, ensure TNS Name is correctly spelled, spelling fine, i can connect with the tns name (is TNS name same as SERVICE_NAME?) by: sqlplus 'user/user@racenv'; but my efforts still will not allow me to use:
sqlplus 'user/user' it tells me that the host or object is does not exist, does this refer to the actual physical machine or the service name, or the instance name?
All host entries in my tnsnames.ora file refer to the vip addresses of both servers holding the rac installation, and both are resolved just fine, testing with ping; any other way to test this?
tnsnames file contains CONNECTION strings in the following order (does the listener entry need to be in the file? on the machine that i am trying to connect from?):
LISTENER_ORCLTELE =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.9)(PORT = 1521))
ORCLTELE =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.9)(PORT = 1521))

EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC2))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
I tried removing all entries but the entry for MSRAC, but still no joy:
MSRAC =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.12)(PORT = 1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.3.13)(PORT = 1521))
(LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = MSRAC)
(failover_mode =
(type=select)
(method=basic)
(retries=180)
(delay=5))
Thanks again,
Robert..
In the sqlnet.log file the error is as follows:

Cannot connect properly to Oracle on Linux from Windows
Good day all,
I’ve got 2 virtual machines running on my Mac:
- Centos 5.4 with Oracle 11gR2
- Windows 2003 server with Oracle 10gR2
From Linux box I have access to Oracle database on Windows box (both directly and via a database link), however from Windows I have problems accessing the oracle database on the Linux box.
From Windows, if I try to set up a connection using Oracle’s SQL Developer using connection type “Basic”, I get “IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection”. When I use “TNS”, then it works.
From the linux box it all works fine as the “oracle” user, but when I log on as another user (in this case “informatica”) it doesn’t work properly any more.
To sketch what both environments look like.
Windows:
- Machine name WS2003Ora10g
- Etc/hosts
o 127.0.0.1 localhost
o #loopback adapter
o 192.168.12.100 localhost
o #network adapter
o 192.168.12.10 WS2003Ora10g
o # external machine
o 192.168.12.110 ilmserver
- system variables
o TNS_ADMIN, set to network/admin path in Oracle home dir

[ the sequence of dots means I took out a whole lot or lines with virtually the same information, only different port(s) ]
What’s noticeable is that port 1521 seems solely assigned to the localhost IP-address, 127.0.0.1.
Another thing I noticed is that from a different user in Linux, so not “oracle”, using SQL Developer I cannot access the local Oracle database via TNS. When choosing TNS the dropdown box for “Network Alias” – which normally is populated with entries from TNSNAMES.ORA – is completely empty. On a “users and groups” level I basically assigned all the groups the oracle user is member of, to the other user (called informatica).
And to make it even more interesting, at first it worked using “Basic” (in SQL Developer), but since implementing the TNS_ADMIN environment variable, it doesn’t work at all !!!
Trying it via SQLPLUS as the “informatica” doesn’t work either:
[informatica@ilmserver ~]$ sqlplus system
bash: sqlplus: command not found
I’ve assigned the “dba” group to “informatica”, or rather, I have assigned all groups to the “informatica” user as the “oracle” user has.
Needless to say I am no Linux expert, rather a quite inexperienced Linux-user.
So bottom line, the situation I’d like to be able to create is the following:
• Linux Oracle DB accessible from “informatica” (or any other) user on Linux, via both TNS and java-based
• Linux Oracle DB accessible from remote machine (running Windows 2003 server) via both TNS and java-based
• And for Informatica to work properly, it says it needs the TNS_ADMIN environment variable, so the “informatica” user must have full Oracle connectivity with TNS_ADMIN in place.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, PatrickHi Billy,
Thanks for your elaborate answer.
Not sure whether I can use it though, since the application using the oracle database (i.e. Informatica ILM 5.3.2) appears to have a specific need for TNS.
I thought I had a solution (not the prettiest for sure) by just copying TNSNAMES.ORA to an accessible location, change ownership to "informatica" user, have TNS_ADMIN point to it, and Bob should be my uncle. Well... he isn't!
In SQL Developer when I choose TNS as connection type, the drop down box is STILL empty.....aaaaahhhh!!!!!
I was advised to play around with primary groups, so I tried oinstall and dba as primary groups for informatica user, all to no avail.
And I can't even test it with SQLPLUS because I don't have access to it as "informatica".
Who knows what the exact reason for that is... I know I'm a far cry from an experienced linux user, but I assumed that having the Oracle Home bin directory in PATH, and assigning the oinstall group to informatica user, would ensure access to to any executable in there. Well... NOT!!!
+[informatica@ilmserver ~]$ sqlplus system@orcl+
bash: sqlplus: command not found
This is driving me nuts. Thought that finding a solution for this wouldn't be this hard, but essentially I've been digging for 3 days now.

Query works on Oracle 9i, but fails on Oracle 10g - puzzling...
In porting an application from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g, I hit a problem that for a while I assumed was some bug of mine. But I eventually isolated the problem and can reproduce this using a single sql script and then a single delete. The amazing thing is that it works fine on Oracle 9i (always) and fails on Oracle 10g (always).
Have I found a bug? (I would be pretty amazed).
Here's the situation. I have four tables and a trigger set on one of those tables.
The tables are configured so that there is the "parent" table (A). Table B has a foreign key dependency on A's primary key, with "on delete cascade". Table B also has a trigger that runs on the delete. Table C (which has no data) has an integrity constraint on A's primary key. Table D holds information used by the trigger to determine if/when table C should be dropped. (I have a script that sets all this up).
After setting up the tables and the few data records needed, I delete a record from Table A. This causes the records in Table B to be deleted. That fires the trigger, which determines that Table C can be dropped, so the trigger drops Table C. Then, Oracle decides it still needs to check the integrity constraint on Table C (after all, C depended on A and we have deleted a record in A). Oracle then issues a query against table C, but of course table C has already been dropped and an error results.
The exact same script followed by the delete works fine on Oracle 9i. Is this a bug or is this a documented change in behavior? Any known workarounds? Unfortunately, the application needs all the integrity constraints that are present in the schema and also runs on SQL Server, so modifications in the integrity constraints are probably not what I am seeking).
Thanks so much!
RBI wasn't sure how to post the script, but it is short enough to include below. Many thanks for the quick response.
To connect the script below to my original post, the names are:
Table A = OT_AW_PROCESSDEF
Table B = OT_AW_PROCESS_APPDATADEF
Table C = OT_AW_AD_OneLoop_1
Table D = OT_AW_APPDATA_TABLEINFO
The trigger is also included in the script. After running this script, the command:
delete from OT_AW_ProcessDef where processdefId = 101
will cause the failure on Oracle10g, but succeeds on Oracle 9i.
Thanks again!

Can't connect to external Oracle DB with JDBC connector
Hello guys,
I had failed to connect to connect external Oracle via JDBC connector .
Could you please help me to resolve the problem ?
Backgroud:
We need to connect the external Oracle DB with JDBC connector, because BI need to connect to the target Oracle. If the JDBC connector suceed, BI will create a UD which use the datasource
we create in Visual admin to connect to the external Oracle DB.
Environment:
Our EP version is NW04S SP17 , OS is AIX .
The target Oracle DB version is 10g(10.1.0.2.0, 64bi).
Configuration procedure :
1. Import Oracle driver "ojdbc14.jar" and create new driver which named "Oracle " under
JDBC Connector ->Run time ->Driver in Visual Admin.
2. Create datasource "Mydatasource" under JDBC Connector ->Run time ->Data Source,
Name : Mydatasource
Driver Name : Oracle
JDBC version: 2.0(with XA support)
JDBC compliant:
Object Factory :oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory
DataSource Type: ConnectionPoolDataSource
*CPDS class name :oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionPoolDataSource
Additional:
Additional Properties:
DatabaseName:LPAR8TEST
DriverName:oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver
Password: *****
PortNumber:1521
ServerName: 10.1.16.208
URL :jdbc:oracel:[email protected]:1521:LPAR8TEST
User:IMPL
Connectoin Pool:
Initial Connectons: 1 Expiration: (check)
Maximum Connections: 25 Connection Lifetime :600
Maximum time wait of connection : 60 Cleanup Thread : 200
Default Connectoin Isolaton :Default
SQL Engine:
Open SQL
3.Create Connector :
Copy the standard connector :SDK_JDBC to SDK_JDBC_Oracle,
Resource Adopter:
Loader References:
Add "libray:Oracle" .
Managed Connection Factory:
Configuration Property:
DriverName:oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver
Password: ****
User:IMPL
URL: jdbc:oracle:[email protected]:1521:LPAR8TEST
All fo my configuration had been listed.
And I had created JCO RFC : JT-BIDEV_PORTAL_BD1 , and created RFC connection with SM59 in BI.
Please give me some suggesiton.
Thanks.
