Hi,
I always put them in [jdev_install_dir]j2ee\home\applib (one of quite a few directories in the JDev classpath). The above document suggests <jdevhome>/jdev/lib
and also the WEB-INF\lib of your J2EE project if it is not already in the server classpath.

  • Power Query Update breaks connection to PostgreSQL database

    After the update to Power Query 2.11.3625.144, we can't connect our PostgreSQL database anymore.
    Error message is:
    DataSource.NotFound: PostgreSQL: Unable to find a database provider with invariant name 'Npgsql'.
    This error may have been the result of provider-specific client software being required but missing on this computer.  To download client software for this provider, visit the following site and choose at minimum 'Npgsql version 2.0.12': http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=282716
    Readding the Npgsql driver doesn't solve the issue. Has the version requirement changed with the Power Query update? Or is PostgreSQL connectivity completely broken?

    Hmm,
    If I add the line, I get the following error message in Power Query:
    'Npgsql' returned the error: 'Unrecognized element. (C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Config\machine.config line 169)'.
    This error may have been the result of provider-specific client software being required but missing on this computer.  To download client software for this provider, visit the following site and choose at minimum 'Npgsql version 2.0.12': http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=282716
    The code in the machine config looks like this:
      <system.data>
            <DbProviderFactories />
            <add description=".Net Framework Data Provider for Postgresql Server" type="Npgsql.NpgsqlFactory, Npgsql, Version=2.0.12.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=5d8b90d52f46fda7" name="Npgsql Data Provider" invariant="Npgsql" support="FF"/>
        </system.data>
    The node seems to be empty by default. Can it be that the surrounding stuff has to be differently written in that case?

  • Help!! How To Connect Java & PostgreSQL Database

    I'm final year student in comp sc. I'm doing java in my thesis.
    How to get/read data from postgresql using java?
    My thesis is "2 Dimensional Graph Statistics Online Viewing Using Java Applet". So i need a mechanism how to read data from postgresql database using java programming. Please Help!!

    Hi,
    getting started you need some basics on JDBC.
    Have a look at the tutorials, or look at this site (its german):
    http://www.furchur.de/de/informatik/laborberichte2.htm#dbswt
    Have a look at the java.sql package.
    First you need to build up a connection using
    java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(...)
    The parameter for the PostgreSQL you must look somewhere.
    After you have a connection you can use Statements and PreparedStatements to get and set data in the database.
    At the end, make sure, the connection will be closed, otherwise data can be lost.
    Hope that will help you a little bit

  • Application module with no connection to the database in jdeveloper 10.1.3

    I have a number of programmatic bc view objects and entity objects which i have implemented through the time from different projects and now that i have collected them i want to add all of them in a reusable application module. However i don't need a connection to the database for this application module. Is it possible to enforce the application module to circumvent the db connection?

    Hi user,
    Just out of curiosity, why would you use ADF BC for that - if I had a bunch of non-db data sources, I'd probably use POJOs and create POJO data controls.
    I didn't look in 10g, but in 11g, the ApplicationModule has a method called getDBConnectionRequired() that you could override to see if that solves your issue.

  • Configuring remote XE Database from Jdeveloper

    Hi
    How can I configure a remote Oracle XE from Jdeveloper which is in my maschine.
    I am using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4.0
    Regards

    What do you mean "configure a remote Oracle XE"? What do you want to configure? You can certainly create a connection to that database in JDeveloper, and in the SQL Worksheet you can do pretty much anything that you can do in SQL or PL/SQL. You can also use the UML modelling tools against that database.

    Hello,
    I am trying to connect to oracle database 10.1.0.2.0 from jdeveloper 11.1.2.1.0 to develop an ADF application.
    But it is giving me the error
    Test failed: Listener refused the connection with the following error:

    I am able to connect to the database using SQL*Plus with the same credentials.
    Any help is appreciated!

    I take it you solved this problem, since you posted this: installing Oracle 10.1.0.2.0 (32 bit)  on windows 2003 server

  • How to connect sybase database in JDeveloper 11g using JConnect

    Hi
    How to connect sybase database in JDeveloper 11g using JConnect? Please help.

    User,
    It would help if you explained Sybase Jconnect instead of leaving us to google.
    At any rate, it appears you need to create a library definition in JDeveloper, add the appropriate JConnect JAR files to the library's classpath, and then add the library to your project.

  • Unable to Connect to Oracle 10gR1 database from JDeveloper 11g using OCI

    We are migrating our application from OC4J to Weblogic server. As a part, I am trying to create a database connection in JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.3.0 - Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660) to Oracle 10gR1 database. Previously I had Oracle 10g Client installed in the machine. Created a database connection using OCI driver and when I try to test connect, I got "Test Failed: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path". I searched through Metalink and forums and one suggestion was to install Oracle 11g Client on the machine where Jdeveloper 11g is installed. I installed 11g R1 client and tried the same test connection using OCI driver. Now I am getting "Test failed: ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified" error.
    The same database connection works good with Thin driver with both Oracle 10g client and 11gR1 client.
    Previously I had Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2 and Oracle 10g Client and I was able to connect to database without any errors.
    Could you provide me the steps for this or if I missed any steps?
    Steps to Replicate:
    For the error: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path
    1) Install JDeveloper 11g (With embedded Weblogic Server)
    2) Install Oracle 10g Client on the same machine
    3) Create a database connection in the "Application Resources --> Connection"
    4) Use OCI driver. Enter the host details about the Oracle 10g R1 database
    5) Test connect to the database.
    ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
    1) Install JDeveloper 11g (With embedded Weblogic Server)
    2) Install Oracle 11gR1 Client on the same machine
    3) Create a database connection in the "Application Resources --> Connection"
    4) Use OCI driver. Enter the host details about the Oracle 10g R1 database
    5) Test connect to the database.
    Note: Tried the same scenarios with Oracle 11gR2 client as well. It was not working at all.
    Any ideas and pointers would be great.

    1. will my problem get solved after i install oracle 11g client on my machine.Yes, your problem should get solved. The version of the Oracle 11g Client must match the version of the JDev's JDBC drivers. Alternatively you may install an Oracle 11g Client and replace JDev's Oracle JDBC drivers with these from the installed client. Please, read carefully my 1st posting above in this thread.
    2. can i patch JDeveloper 11g on my machine to work with 10g client, or can i do the same with 10g client.You might succeed if you replace JDev's built-in JDBC drivers (which are 11g versions) with 10g versions, but I do not recommend you to try that because JDeveloper 11g and ADF 11g may be using some 11g features that do not exist in 10g drivers, so you may have problems.
    I also have PLSql developer installed on my machine and it works well.PL/SQL Developer does not use JDBC drivers, so it is not an relevant example in this case.
    My generall recommendation is to use Oracle JDBC Thin drivers. Oracle claimed that OCI drivers had better performance, but this was really true about earlier releases. Current Oracle 11g JDBC Thin drivers offer excellent performance and they offer all the features of the OCI versions (which was not true about earlier releases). In my opinion, the most important disadvantage of Oracle JDBC OCI drivers is that most versions have native memory leaks so all the RAM would get consumed after long application execution. The fact that WebLogic Server does not offer Oracle JDBC OCI drivers by default anymore says that Oracle discourages the usage of the OCI driver in favour of Thin driver.

  • How is the best way to connect to the Database ?

    I just have a question regarding to the connection to the Oracle DB.
    Every time I create a new JSP I am writing java code such as:
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver").newInstance();
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:1521:DB",
    "user",
    "pwd");
    Is there a way I can reuse the connection that we create on JDeveloper on the tab Connections, under the Database node ?
    Because I would like to centralized more the way how I connect to DB.
    Thanks!
    Giovani

    That is a nice solution, but only works if you use embedded OC4J, if not you must define datasources, maybe in standalone OC4J, OAS, JBoss, etc
    this is because the embedded OC4J automatically create datasources if it sees database connectiones created through Connections Tab

    Hi ,
    We Need to connect to GreenPlum Database in SAP BI 4.0,
    i dont see any specific driver to set up a system dsn for this data source.
    So can any one share your experience if you built a universe based on green plum db(UNX using IDT in 4.0)
    or even in earlier versions of BO how to create a system dsn for greenplum db,
    which driver we need to use.

    Hi,
    Infact, GreenPlum 4 is not 'officially supported' with BI 4.0 until Feature Pack 03 next year.
    This is OK currently:
    Greenplum     3.2     JDBC     PostgreSQL 8.4 JDBC
    Greenplum     3.2     ODBC     PostgreSQL 8.4 ODBC
    This will come with 4.0.FP03 :
    Greenplum     4     JDBC     PostgreSQL JDBC 8.4-701
    Greenplum     4     ODBC     PostgreSQL ODBC 9.00.03.00

  • Using MySQL database in Jdeveloper

    I am using MySQl database in my applicaion.I have successfully created connection to the database and have created entity beans from the tables and a session bean as well to use the entity beans

    i am getting following exception :
